Gauge and Working Notes

With the 3.25 mm hook, 22 sc and 24 rows should measure approximately 4 inches. With the 2.75 mm hook, 24 sc and 26 rows should measure approximately 4 inches. Exact gauge is less important than producing firm fabric that prevents stuffing and stabilizer from showing.

Work amigurumi pieces in continuous rounds unless a join is specifically stated. Mark the first stitch of each round. Beginning chains do not count as stitches. Stuff shaped pieces gradually and firmly, but leave flat building panels and signs unstuffed.

Oval Garden Base

Grass Panels

  • Check that the bakery sign, door, window frame, and shelves are straight.
  • Count all four main animals and the baker bear.
  • Confirm that the bread cart has four wheels and a secure handle.

  • Trim visible yarn ends and remove temporary pins.

Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines

Remove loose dust with a soft makeup brush or a handheld vacuum on its lowest setting. Cover the vacuum nozzle with mesh so no small pastry, flower, stone, or mushroom piece can be pulled away.

For a small mark, dab gently with a clean cloth lightly dampened with cool water and mild soap. Do not soak the stabilizer, signs, cart, railing, or mushroom tower. Blot the cleaned area and allow the diorama to air-dry completely in a shaded, ventilated place.

Store the diorama inside a rigid box with acid-free tissue supporting the branch, railing, mushroom cap, and cart handle. Avoid compressing the animal faces, flowers, cakes, or cap spots. Inspect the piece occasionally and reinforce loosened sewing stitches before returning it to display.
