Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

Finished Size and Skill Level

  • Finished seated height: Approximately 18 inches or 46 cm from the shoes to the top of the cap.
  • Head width: Approximately 7 inches or 18 cm.
  • Body width: Approximately 6 inches or 15 cm.
  • Tail length: Approximately 10 inches or 25 cm.
  • Skill level: Intermediate.
  • Construction: The pieces are crocheted separately, firmly stuffed, and sewn together in a permanent seated pose.

The finished measurements depend on yarn thickness, hook size, stuffing density, and individual tension. Maintain a tight fabric so that stuffing does not show between the stitches.

Materials

  • Worsted-weight cotton or cotton-acrylic yarn in medium moss green for the head, body, hands, legs, and tail.
  • Worsted-weight yarn in light sage green for the muzzle, cheeks, eyelids, and facial accents.
  • Worsted-weight yarn in pale yellow-green for the lower jaw and eye patches.
  • Worsted-weight yarn in cream for the shirt, collar, shoe uppers, and teeth.
  • Worsted-weight yarn in dark brown for the shoe soles and facial embroidery.
  • Worsted-weight yarn in heather brown for the gardener vest.
  • Worsted-weight yarn in gray for the cap and watering can.
  • Worsted-weight yarn in golden tan for the satchel and basket.
  • Small yarn amounts in dark green, beige, red, orange, pink, purple, yellow, and leaf green.
  • 3.5 mm crochet hook for the main doll.
  • 3.0 mm crochet hook for small accessories and embroidered appliqués.
  • Polyester fiberfill.
  • Four wooden buttons measuring approximately 12 mm.
  • One small wooden button for the shirt collar.
  • Black embroidery floss.
  • Brown embroidery floss.
  • Green and floral embroidery floss for the vest.
  • Yarn needle, embroidery needle, stitch markers, scissors, and straight pins.
  • Optional plastic canvas for strengthening the satchel and basket bases.
  • Optional fabric scraps for the two trouser patches.

Gauge and Tension

Gauge: 20 single crochet stitches and 22 rounds should measure approximately 4 inches or 10 cm using the 3.5 mm hook.

Exact gauge is less important than making a firm, even fabric. Use a smaller hook when gaps appear between stitches. All stuffed pieces should remain smooth after filling.

  • Stuff gradually and distribute the filling evenly.
  • Use invisible decreases to keep shaping neat.
  • The crocodile is designed to sit with both legs hanging over the edge of a bench.
  • Leave the knees lightly stuffed so that the legs can be bent naturally.

Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines

Remove loose dust with a soft, clean brush. For small marks, press a damp cloth against the affected area without rubbing. Blot with a dry towel and reshape the piece immediately.

Allow every section to air-dry completely in a shaded, ventilated place. Support the head, snout, hands, shoes, tail, basket handle, and cap brim while drying so their intended shapes remain unchanged.

Store the crocodile upright or seated in a clean box away from direct sunlight, heat, humidity, and pets. Place acid-free tissue around the accessories to prevent the cap, embroidered vest, satchel, watering can, and vegetables from becoming flattened.
