This garden elephant girl is a sweet amigurumi doll with a large gray head, soft pink inner ears, a short curved trunk, glossy eyes, rosy cheeks, and embroidered lashes. She wears a deep green vegetable garden dress, brown Mary Jane shoes, a floral crown with a tiny bee, a tan crossbody berry satchel, and sits beside a harvest basket, watering can, and straw sun hat.
Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.
Pattern Overview
This pattern is written in US crochet terms and worked mainly in continuous spiral rounds. Use a stitch marker to mark the first stitch of every round. The elephant is designed with a large rounded head, shorter seated body, slim arms, straight legs, oversized floppy ears, and detailed garden accessories.
For the closest match to the image, keep your stitches firm and compact. The sample proportions are based on sport weight cotton yarn and a small hook. Tight tension helps the head, trunk, ears, shoes, dress, flowers, vegetables, and basket keep their clean sculpted shapes.
- Finished size: about 9.5 inches tall seated, not including the straw hat.
- Skill level: confident beginner to intermediate.
- Main technique: amigurumi in continuous rounds.
- Style details: embroidered lashes, blush cheeks, vegetable appliqués, floral crown, satchel, basket, watering can, and hat.

Gauge and Tension
With 2.25 mm hook and sport weight cotton, 8 sc across and 8 rounds should measure about 1 inch. Exact gauge is less important than firm tension, but matching gauge will keep the head, dress, ears, legs, and accessories in balanced proportion.
The head should be visibly larger than the body. The ears should reach from the upper side of the head down to about the cheek line. The dress should cover the seated body and flare slightly at the hem like the green dress in the image.
Head
Use light gray yarn and 2.25 mm hook. Stuff firmly as you work. The head is a rounded sphere with a slightly wider cheek area and a soft forehead.

Cheeks, Brows, Lashes, and Face Embroidery
The face in the image has large shiny eyes, long lashes, soft curved brows, and pink blushing cheeks. Add these details after the trunk is attached so you can balance the expression correctly.

Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
- Sew the head to the body with the trunk centered over the front of the dress.
- Attach ears high on both sides of the head, making sure the pink inner ears face forward.
- Sew arms to the sides of the body and legs to the lower front so the doll sits naturally.
- Fit the green dress over the body and tack it at the shoulders, sides, and back waist.
- Add vegetable appliqués across the lower front skirt in a neat garden row.
- Sew the floral bouquet to the bodice and the tiny ladybug to the right side.
- Place the satchel strap across the chest and secure the bag at the right hip.
- Sew the floral crown diagonally on the upper right head and attach the tiny bee above it.
- Add brows, eyelashes, cheek blush lines, trunk wrinkles, and shoe embroidery last.
Check the doll from the front before knotting off each feature. The eyes should look even, the trunk should sit centered, and the dress decorations should be visible without being hidden by the satchel strap.
Care Notes
- Spot clean with a damp cloth and mild soap.
- Do not machine wash if safety eyes, blush, or glued details were used.
- Let the doll air dry flat on a towel.
- Reshape the ears, hat brim, satchel, and skirt while damp if needed.
Quick Checklist Before You Finish
- The head is larger than the body and firmly stuffed.
- The ears are floppy with pink inner panels and gray borders.
- The trunk is short, centered, and lightly curved.
- The green dress has straps, a bodice bouquet, vegetable appliqués, and a full skirt.
- The floral crown includes leaves, flowers, berries, and a tiny bee.
- The satchel crosses the chest and holds small berries.
- The basket, watering can, and straw hat are complete as separate props.
- The shoes have crossed straps and small flower embroidery.
Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
Store the elephant in a dry place away from direct sunlight to protect the soft gray yarn, green dress, pink ears, and tiny flower colors. If the brim of the straw hat bends, gently flatten it with your fingers and let it rest under a light book for a short time.
For long-term display, keep the doll upright or seated with support behind the body. Avoid pulling on the floral crown, bee, satchel strap, vegetable appliqués, and watering can spout, because these small pieces are decorative and should be handled gently.
If gifting to a young child, embroider the eyes instead of using safety eyes and sew every accessory securely to the doll. Small removable props such as berries, basket produce, flowers, and the watering can are best suited for display pieces or older children.
