Corncockle Cottage Smock Bunny – Crochet

Corncockle Cottage Smock Bunny – Crochet

Corncockle Cottage Smock Bunny is a soft, cottage-style crochet bunny dressed in a blue smock dress and a cream cardigan.

You’ll also make the blue cloche hat with a flower patch, a tiny lamb friend, and the miniature props: backpack, “Corncockle” card, and a small shovel.

This design is perfect if you like to buy amigurumi yarn, shop for safety eyes, purchase mini buttons, and browse cute doll accessories.

The outfit details are the fun part: the embroidered-style flower hem (made with crochet appliqués), tiny sleeve blossoms, and the little bow shoes.

Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

Finished Size

With sport or DK yarn and a tight gauge, the bunny will be about 10–12 in (25–30 cm) tall standing, and sits at about 8–9 in (20–23 cm).

The lamb friend will be about 4–5 in (10–13 cm) tall.

Skill Level

  • Beginner to intermediate amigurumi
  • Single crochet in continuous rounds
  • Simple increases/decreases, sewing pieces
  • Small appliqués and neat finishing

Materials

  • Yarn (sport or DK):
  • Bunny body: warm beige/tan
  • Dress: dusty cornflower blue
  • Cardigan: cream/ivory
  • Hat: same dusty blue as dress
  • Flowers: purple and blue tones + leaf green
  • Shoes: beige + cream + tiny bow in tan
  • Lamb: cream + light gray + dusty rose skirt + pale blue hood
  • Backpack and props: beige/tan + white label
  • Hook: 2.25–3.0 mm (choose size that makes tight fabric)
  • Notions: stuffing, stitch markers, tapestry needle, pins
  • Eyes: 6–8 mm safety eyes or black yarn for embroidery
  • Buttons: 2–3 tiny buttons for cardigan (light blue/gray look)
  • Optional: thin plastic canvas for backpack base, fabric glue for label

Gauge

Gauge is not critical, but stitches must be tight so stuffing does not show.

If holes appear, go down a hook size or tighten tension.

Assembly and Dressing

Attach Ears

Sew ears low on the sides of the head so they hang beside the cheeks.

Attach Head to Body

Center the head on the top of the body.

Sew with tight stitches all around and add a bit more stuffing at the neck if needed.

Attach Legs and Arms

Sew legs slightly forward on the lower body so the bunny sits naturally.

Attach arms at the upper sides, angled a little forward like the photo.

Dress the Bunny in Photo Order

  • Add the cream cardigan and button it lightly so it hangs open and neat.
  • Slide the cloche hat on last, adjusting the brim to sit low on the forehead.
  • Attach or place the backpack beside the bunny, and set the card in front.
  • Position the mini lamb friend to the bunny’s right.
  • Lay the shovel accessory in front, angled slightly toward the bunny.

Final Assembly and Facial Detailing

Check that eyes are level and the nose is centered and tiny.

Secure all appliqués: hem flowers, hat patch, and sleeve flowers.

Reinforce buttons and any straps with extra stitches.

Care Notes

Spot clean with cool water and mild soap, then blot dry.

Avoid harsh rubbing on appliqués and small details.

Let the toy dry fully before storing.

Quick Checklist Before You Finish

  • All seams tight, no stuffing visible
  • Hat brim sits low and even
  • Dress hem flowers spaced evenly
  • Cardigan buttons secure and aligned
  • Shoe bows centered
  • Backpack flap and straps firmly attached
  • Mini props (card, shovel) reinforced

Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines

  • Dust gently with a soft brush, especially around flower appliqués.
  • Store away from direct sunlight to prevent fading of blues and purples.
  • Keep accessories in a small pouch so nothing is lost or stretched.
  • If the hat softens, reshape it by hand after light steaming from a distance.
