Tuberose Moon-Perfume Atelier Caravan – Crochet

Tuberose Moon-Perfume Atelier Caravan – Crochet

This Moon-Perfume Atelier Caravan is a display-style crochet caravan that opens like a little stage. Inside you’ll build a full perfume studio with shelves, bottles, vanity, and a cozy bed. It’s designed for collectors who like to buy amigurumi kits, shop cotton yarn, and collect mini props.

The outside scene includes a bunny carrying tuberose stems and a dressed-up bear perfumer, plus lanterns, flower vases, and a tiny table for “scent testing.” If you enjoy shopping for micro crochet hooks, safety eyes, dollhouse accessories, and mini labels, you’ll love making every detail in this set.

Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

Project Overview

This pattern builds a cream-and-black caravan with a large open side and a hinged roof panel. The interior is a perfume atelier: long bottle counter, wall shelf with boxes, vanity with round mirror, stool, bed, pillow, blanket, and a moon garland. Outside are tuberose vases, lanterns, and a small table scene.

To match the photo, the caravan body is mostly tight single crochet with crisp edges. Many mini props are made with finer hook sizes so they hold shape. Keep tension firm and consistent, and measure often. If your fabric feels floppy, go down a hook size for that piece.

Skill Level

  • Confident beginner to intermediate
  • Comfortable with working in rounds and rows
  • Basic sewing and simple embroidery
  • Miniature work with small hooks for tiny props

Materials

  • Worsted weight (Category 4) cotton or cotton-blend yarn: Cream (main), Black (lower body), Warm Brown (wood furniture), Light Tan (details), White (flowers), Green (stems), Beige (bear hat), Small amounts of Gray and Pastel colors for bottles
  • Optional: sport or fingering yarn for micro props (recommended for best scale)
  • Fiberfill stuffing
  • Plastic canvas or thin craft foam sheet for structure (optional but strongly recommended)
  • Thin cardboard/chipboard for roof panel support (optional)
  • Safety eyes: 6–8 mm for bunny, 8–10 mm for bear (or embroider)
  • Black embroidery thread for facial details
  • Buttons or tiny beads for vanity knobs (optional)
  • Wire or pipe cleaner for tuberose stems (optional but helps)
  • Fabric glue (optional) for tiny labels and sign
  • Tapestry needle, scissors, stitch markers, pins

Hook Sizes by Detail

  • 4.0 mm: Caravan shell panels, roof panel, outer lower black section
  • 3.5 mm: Furniture (tables, vanity, shelves), bed base, steps, lantern bodies
  • 3.0 mm: Bunny and bear bodies, clothing pieces
  • 2.5 mm: Mini bottles, moon garland, flower buds, tiny boxes, tray accessories
  • 2.0 mm: Extra-fine details (bottle caps, tiny labels, notebook corners) if using fine yarn

Finished Size

Size depends on yarn and tension. With worsted cotton and hooks listed, the caravan display typically measures about 10–13 in (25–33 cm) wide with roof open, and the dolls are about 5–7 in (13–18 cm) tall. The set is meant for display, not for heavy play.

Stitch Abbreviations (US Terms)

  • ch = chain
  • sc = single crochet
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • inc = increase (2 sc in same stitch)
  • dec = decrease (single crochet 2 together)
  • hdc = half double crochet
  • dc = double crochet
  • BLO = back loop only
  • FLO = front loop only
  • st(s) = stitch(es)
  • RS/WS = right side/wrong side

General Notes for Accuracy

  • Work tightly so the caravan walls stand straight and props keep their shape.
  • Use stitch markers at corners and at the start of rounds.
  • When a piece needs a crisp edge, use BLO rows or add a surface slip stitch “piping.”
  • If you add structure inserts, cut them 2–3 mm smaller than the crochet panel and insert before closing seams.

Color Palette and Placement

To match the photo, the caravan has a black lower band and a cream upper shell. Interior furniture is warm brown. Bottles are assorted pastel colors with darker caps. The bed uses cream with a light neutral blanket. The bunny is creamy beige with a simple cream dress. The bear wears a black suit with white shirt details and a beige beret.

Caravan Shell

Caravan Base Floor (3.5 mm hook, Cream)

This floor supports the interior. Make it slightly thicker and stiff. If using plastic canvas, plan to insert it between two layers or stitch it onto the underside later. Keep edges square so the walls align cleanly.

  1. Ch 41 (or adjust to your preferred width). Sc in 2nd ch from hook and across (40).
  2. Ch 1, turn. Sc across for 18 rows total to form a sturdy rectangle.
  3. Do not fasten off. Work a border: sc evenly around all four sides, placing 3 sc in each corner.

If you want extra stiffness, make a second identical floor panel, then sc the two layers together around the edge. Leave a small opening to insert a matching rectangle of plastic canvas, then close the opening with sc and fasten off.

Lower Black Body Band (4.0 mm hook, Black)

This is the tall black section that forms the exterior “base.” It wraps around the floor like a wall band. The open side will be left mostly uncovered, with a low black wall edge at the front like in the photo.

  1. With black yarn, join to any corner of the floor border.
  2. Round 1: Ch 1, sc in each st around, placing (sc, ch 1, sc) in each corner ch-space if you have them. Sl st to join.
  3. Rounds 2–9: Ch 1, sc around, keeping corners square by adding (sc, ch 1, sc) in corners each round.

At the open side, stop building height for the full wall. Instead, create a low front wall rim: when you reach the open side edge, work sc only along the front lip for 2 more rounds, then fasten off. This creates the stage-like opening shown.

Cream Upper Shell Walls (4.0 mm hook, Cream)

The cream shell forms the main interior walls and rounded roof edges. Work in rows for panels, then seam. Use tight sc fabric and add subtle rounded corners by easing seams and adding corner stitches.

Back Wall Panel

  1. Ch 41. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and across (40).
  2. Ch 1, turn. Sc across for 16 rows (or until the wall height matches the photo from black band to roof line).
  3. Fasten off, leave long tail for sewing.

Right Interior Wall (with window opening)

This wall includes a rectangular window cutout, like the right-side window seen in the photo. Mark where you want the window. Keep the opening centered vertically and slightly forward horizontally.

  1. Ch 27. Sc in 2nd ch and across (26).
  2. Rows 1–6: Ch 1, turn. Sc across.
  3. Row 7: Ch 1, turn. Sc 6, ch 10, skip 10, sc to end. (Window opening starts.)
  4. Rows 8–12: Ch 1, turn. Sc across, working sc into each ch across the gap.
  5. Rows 13–16: Ch 1, turn. Sc across. Fasten off.

Left Interior Wall (with small framed details)

The left wall in the photo has framed shapes and a round “porthole” detail. Build the wall panel plain first, then add appliqués.

  1. Ch 27. Sc in 2nd ch and across (26).
  2. Rows 1–16: Ch 1, turn. Sc across. Fasten off.

Seaming Upper Shell to Base

Pin the back wall onto the back edge of the floor/black band. Sew using whip stitch through both loops for clean seams. Add the right and left walls, aligning bottom edges to the top of the black band. Keep the open side un-walled like the display opening.

To create the softly rounded caravan corner look, slightly ease the wall corners inward as you sew. Do not pull too tight. If needed, add one extra sc stitch at the inside corner seam to remove gaps and keep the curve smooth.

Top Roof Panel (Hinged Look) (4.0 mm hook, Cream)

The photo shows a large cream roof panel opened upward. Make a stiff rectangle with a neat border. You can attach it with stitched “hinges” or simply display it propped open with hidden supports.

  1. Ch 49. Sc in 2nd ch and across (48).
  2. Ch 1, turn. Sc across for 24 rows, creating a large rectangle.
  3. Border: sc evenly around with 3 sc in each corner. Fasten off.

If you want the roof to hold shape, crochet a second identical panel and sc them together, inserting a thin chipboard rectangle before closing. Attach the roof to the back wall top edge with 4–6 small stitched loops so it opens like a lid.

Front Steps and Black Platform (3.5 mm hook, Black and Cream)

The front opening includes a small black step platform like in the photo. Build a simple stepped block and stitch it at the front center inside the opening.

  1. With black yarn, ch 19. Sc in 2nd ch and across (18).
  2. Rows 1–6: Ch 1, turn. Sc across. Fasten off.
  3. With cream yarn, make a smaller step: ch 13, sc across (12). Rows 1–3 sc across. Fasten off.
  4. Stack the cream step centered on black step and stitch down. Attach step unit to floor at the opening.

Interior Build: Perfume Atelier

Work from back to front. Attach large furniture first: the long bottle counter, shelf unit, vanity, bed. Then add tiny props: bottles, boxes, garland, and wall décor. Use pins to stage everything before sewing so the layout matches the photo closely.

Long Perfume Counter Table (3.5 mm hook, Warm Brown)

This is the long workbench along the left interior, lined with many bottles. Make it rectangular with short legs. Keep the top flat and corners crisp so bottles stand neatly.

  1. Ch 29. Sc in 2nd ch and across (28).
  2. Rows 1–6: Ch 1, turn. Sc across to form the tabletop panel.
  3. Border: sc around the rectangle, 3 sc in each corner. Fasten off.

For thickness, crochet a second tabletop and stitch the two together. For legs, make 4 small tubes: with 3.5 mm, ch 6, join to ring, sc 6 for 4 rounds, fasten off. Stitch one leg under each corner, slightly inset.

Counter Accessories: Funnels, Cups, Paper (2.5 mm hook, Mixed)

The photo shows small lab-style bits on the counter: a tiny funnel, small jars/cups, and flat “paper” pieces. These are quick minis that add realism. Use fine yarn or split strands if your minis feel too bulky.

Mini Funnel (2.5 mm, Cream)

  1. Magic ring, 6 sc. Join.
  2. Round 2: inc around (12).
  3. Round 3: sc around.
  4. Round 4: (sc 1, dec) around (8). Sl st, fasten off.

Mini Cup (2.5 mm, Gray)

  1. Magic ring, 6 sc.
  2. Round 2: inc around (12).
  3. Round 3: BLO sc around (12).
  4. Rounds 4–5: sc around. Fasten off.

Flat Paper Notes (2.5 mm, Tan)

  1. Ch 6, sc in 2nd ch and across (5).
  2. Rows 2–3: ch 1, turn, sc across. Fasten off.

Perfume Bottle Set (2.5 mm hook, Pastels + Black Caps)

To match the photo, make many bottles in different colors, each with a darker cap. Make 10–14 bottles for the long counter, plus 3 smaller bottles for the outside table tray. Keep them short and squat, with a defined “cap” edge.

Standard Bottle (makes one)

  1. With bottle color, magic ring, 6 sc.
  2. Round 2: inc around (12).
  3. Round 3: sc around.
  4. Round 4: BLO sc around (12) to create a ridge.
  5. Round 5: sc around.
  6. Switch to black (cap): Round 6: sc around.
  7. Round 7: (sc 1, dec) around (8). Stuff lightly.
  8. Round 8: dec around (4). Fasten off and close.

For extra realism, stitch a tiny rectangle “label” in cream yarn (ch 4, sc 3, 2 rows) and tack it to the front. Keep labels small so they don’t overwhelm the bottle shape.

Back Shelf Unit with Boxes (3.5 mm hook, Brown) (2.5 mm boxes)

The photo shows a shelving unit centered at the back with stacked boxes and folded bits. Make a blocky shelf with visible tiers. Then add tiny boxes in cream and brown. Keep the shelf shallow so it doesn’t crowd the interior space.

Shelf Frame

  1. Ch 17, sc in 2nd ch and across (16).
  2. Rows 1–14: ch 1, turn, sc across to make a tall rectangle.
  3. Make 3 shelf planks: ch 17, sc across (16), rows 2–3 sc across. Make 3.

Stitch planks horizontally onto the frame at even spacing, forming 3 levels. To create side thickness, make two narrow side strips: ch 5, sc 4, rows 1–14. Sew them to left and right edges. Stitch the shelf to the back wall, slightly left of center like the photo.

Mini Boxes (2.5 mm hook, Cream/Brown)

  1. Ch 7, sc in 2nd ch and across (6).
  2. Rows 2–4: ch 1, turn, sc across.
  3. Fold into a tube and sew short side. Lightly stuff.
  4. Close top by stitching edges together, forming a small parcel. Fasten off.

Make several in cream and brown. Add a tiny bow: ch 12, sl st back down, pinch center, wrap yarn around center, and stitch onto a box front.

Vanity Table with Round Mirror (3.5 mm hook, Brown; 2.5 mm mirror frame)

This vanity sits on the right interior wall. The mirror is round and framed, and the tabletop has small perfume props. Keep proportions compact. The mirror should sit slightly above the tabletop height, like a small dresser mirror.

Vanity Table

  1. Tabletop: ch 19, sc across (18). Rows 2–6 sc across. Fasten off.
  2. Leg panel: ch 5, sc 4. Rows 2–7 sc across. Make 4.
  3. Stitch legs under corners, slightly inset. Add a front apron strip: ch 19, sc 18, rows 2–3.

Round Mirror

  1. With tan (frame), 2.5 mm: magic ring, 6 sc.
  2. Round 2: inc around (12).
  3. Round 3: (sc 1, inc) around (18).
  4. Round 4: (sc 2, inc) around (24). Fasten off.

📌Thank you for reading the article

For the mirror surface, cut a small circle of felt or plastic (optional). Stitch the frame circle onto it. Add a small stand: ch 7, sc 6, rows 2–3. Stitch stand behind and attach mirror to vanity back edge.

Vanity Stool (3.5 mm hook, Brown)

  1. Seat: magic ring, 6 sc.
  2. Round 2: inc around (12).
  3. Round 3: (sc 1, inc) around (18).
  4. Round 4: BLO sc around (18).
  5. Round 5: sc around. Fasten off.

For legs, crochet a short cylinder: ch 7, join, sc 6 for 4 rounds. Stuff lightly and stitch to center underside. Place stool in front of vanity, slightly to the left, matching the photo spacing.

Bed Platform, Mattress, Pillow, Blanket (3.5 mm hook, Cream/Tan)

The bed sits on the right side with a cream pillow and a smooth blanket drape. Use tight rows so the mattress looks neat. For the blanket, use a softer tension and a slightly larger hook if you want a natural fold.

Bed Base (Cream)

  1. Ch 23, sc in 2nd ch and across (22).
  2. Rows 2–10: ch 1, turn, sc across. Fasten off.

Mattress Top (Cream)

  1. Make a second identical rectangle for the top.
  2. Stitch top to base around edges, stuffing lightly to create a padded look.

Pillow (Cream, 3.5 mm)

  1. Ch 11, sc across (10). Rows 2–6 sc across.
  2. Fold, sew edges, stuff lightly, close. Add a tiny label patch: ch 5, sc 4, 2 rows, stitch on.

Blanket Drape (Light Tan, 4.0 mm)

  1. Ch 25, hdc in 2nd ch and across (24).
  2. Rows 2–10: ch 1, turn, hdc across. Fasten off.

Lightly steam-block the blanket so it drapes. Stitch only at the top edge onto the mattress, then fold the rest naturally over the bed corner like in the photo.

Moon String Garland (2.5 mm hook, Cream)

The interior has a hanging garland with crescent moons. Make a chain cord, then attach small moons at intervals. Keep moons flat and simple so they read clearly at mini scale.

  1. Chain cord: ch 35–45, depending on your wall width.
  2. Moon (make 5): ch 6, sc in 2nd ch and across (5). Row 2 sc across. Row 3 dec, sc 1, dec (3). Fasten off.
  3. Curve each moon by stitching one side slightly tighter when attaching to cord.
  4. Stitch garland across the interior opening edge, slightly above eye level like the photo.

Interior Wall Décor: Frames and Round Porthole (2.5–3.5 mm hooks)

The left interior wall has graphic framed shapes and a round porthole ring. These details make the caravan look like a real vehicle. Keep appliqués thin and stitch them flat so the wall stays smooth.

Round Porthole Frame (2.5 mm, Black + Cream)

  1. With black: magic ring, 6 sc.
  2. Round 2: inc around (12).
  3. Round 3: (sc 1, inc) around (18).
  4. Round 4: (sc 2, inc) around (24).
  5. Switch to cream: Round 5: sc around (24). Fasten off.

Stitch the ring to the left wall. Add a smaller inner ring if you want more depth. For a “window,” you can stitch a black circle behind it, or leave it open for a shadowed look.

Rectangular Frame Patch (2.5 mm, Black)

  1. Ch 9, sc across (8). Rows 2–4 sc across.
  2. Border with sl st around for a crisp outline. Stitch to wall near the porthole.

Exterior Scene Props

Perfume Atelier Sign (3.5 mm hook, Tan + Black stitching)

The sign sits at the front left on the black wall. Make a small tan plaque and embroider the words with black thread. Keep letters simple and slightly imperfect for handmade charm.

  1. With tan, ch 15, sc across (14).
  2. Rows 2–5: ch 1, turn, sc across. Fasten off.
  3. With black thread, embroider “Perfume Atelier” in a casual script style.
  4. Stitch plaque to the front black band, centered left.

Lanterns (3.5 mm hook, Black; small cream candle)

Two lanterns frame the scene in the photo. Make simple box lanterns with a handle loop. These can be lightly stuffed or left hollow. Add a small cream candle inside for contrast.

Lantern Body

  1. With black, ch 13, sc across (12). Rows 2–8 sc across.
  2. Fold into a square tube and sew the short side seam.
  3. Bottom: stitch one edge closed, then sew a flat square base (ch 7, sc 6, rows 2–6).

  1. Stem: with green and 2.5 mm, ch 18–22. Sl st back down the chain for stiffness.
  2. Bud: with white, ch 5, sc in 2nd ch and across (4). Roll into a tiny tube and stitch closed.
  3. Make 3–5 buds per stem and stitch them along the upper half.

Insert stems into each vase. If you want stems to stand tall, wrap the chain around a thin wire or pipe cleaner before slip stitching back, then hide ends inside the vase.

Outside Small Table (3.5 mm hook, Brown)

This is the small table in front where perfumes are displayed on a tray, with a notebook. Keep it low and rectangular. Place it between the bunny and the bear like in the photo.

  1. Ch 17, sc across (16). Rows 2–6 sc across. (Tabletop.)

  1. With tan, ch 10, sc across (9). Rows 2–3 sc across.
  2. Border: sc around once, adding 3 sc at corners. Fasten off.

Notebook

  1. With light gray, ch 9, sc across (8). Rows 2–5 sc across.
  2. With darker gray, stitch a line along one long edge to mimic a spine.
  3. Add a “pen”: ch 6 with black, sl st back, stitch onto notebook.

Dolls: Bunny and Bear Perfumer

Both dolls are crocheted with a 3.0 mm hook for a firm amigurumi fabric. Stuff gradually and keep shaping consistent. The bunny is simple and sweet, holding tuberose. The bear wears a black suit jacket, white shirt, small bow, and beige beret, matching the photo’s elegant atelier vibe.

  6. Rejoin for right front: sc 6, rows 11–12 sc across (6). Fasten off.

Stitch shoulder seams lightly. For sleeves, attach yarn at armhole and sc around 9–10 stitches, then work 4 rounds of sc. Fasten off. Slide jacket onto bear and stitch minimally at back so it stays in place.

Shirt Front and Bow (2.5 mm hook, White)

  1. Shirt bib: ch 8, sc across (7), rows 2–4 sc across, fasten off.
  2. Bow: ch 10, sl st back, pinch center, wrap yarn around center, stitch to shirt.

Stitch shirt bib onto bear chest under the jacket opening. Add a tiny boutonniere: one mini white bud and short green stem stitched to the jacket lapel, matching the photo’s floral accent.

Scene Layout to Match the Photo

Place the long perfume counter along the left interior wall. Arrange 10–14 bottles in a neat line, mixing colors. Add the funnel and cups near the center of the counter, and a small paper note near the front edge.

Attach the shelf unit to the back wall slightly left of center. Stack mini boxes on the shelves, including one with a bow. Place the vanity on the right interior wall with the round mirror facing outward. Put the stool in front, slightly tucked under.

Position the bed on the right side near the opening, with pillow at the back and blanket draped toward the front edge. Stitch the moon garland across the interior upper opening. Attach the porthole and framed patches to the left wall, keeping spacing similar to the photo.

Outside, place three green vases with tuberose in front of the left black wall, near the “Perfume Atelier” sign. Put one lantern on the left front corner and one lantern on the right front corner. Place the small outside table in the center, with a tray of three bottles and the notebook.

Stand the bunny near the left of the outside table, holding a bouquet. Stand the bear to the right of the table, facing slightly inward as if greeting the bunny. If the bear tilts, stitch a tiny hidden support thread from heel to floor edge.

Final Assembly and Facial Detailing

Embroider small noses with black thread: a tiny triangle for the bunny and a small oval for the bear. Add a short vertical stitch under each nose. Keep expressions gentle and minimal. Stitch ears securely and check balance before sewing arms, so the bouquet and table spacing remain accurate.

Care Notes

Display items like this stay best when kept out of direct sun and away from humidity. Dust gently with a soft brush. If a bottle or flower loosens, re-stitch it rather than pulling. Avoid washing the entire caravan if you used internal cardboard or structural inserts.

Quick Checklist Before You Finish

  • Caravan: black base band even height, cream walls straight, roof panel crisp and clean
  • Interior: counter placed left, shelf centered-left, vanity right with round mirror, bed right with pillow and draped blanket
  • Props: 10–14 interior bottles, 3 tray bottles, moon garland attached, sign stitched on front
  • Exterior: 2 lanterns, 3 vases with tuberose, bunny bouquet secured, bear outfit complete

Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines

For spot cleaning, use a barely damp cloth and gentle soap on the yarn surface only, then blot dry. For dust, use low suction through a mesh barrier or a soft makeup brush. Store in a box with tissue padding, and keep minis in place by lightly tacking them down with removable stitches.
