Crochet Tutorial: Elegant Rose Traveler Bunny – Free Crochet Pattern

This elegant bunny amigurumi is designed as a romantic heirloom crochet doll with a wide-brim travel hat, floral dress, tiny shoulder bag, tea-time accessories, and a sweet woodland friend. It is ideal for readers searching for a handmade bunny doll pattern, collectible amigurumi gift, or cottagecore nursery decor.

The finished set has the look of a premium artisan plush, a designer crochet bunny, and a luxury handmade toy made for display, gifting, or boutique-style home decor. Soft blush, cream, and warm gold details give the bunny the exact refined traveler look shown in the image.

Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

Pattern Overview

This pattern is written in US English and follows the visible proportions of the pictured bunny very closely. The head is large and rounded, the body is slim under a very full dress, the ears are long and softly weighted, and the accessories are essential to the final look.

The main doll sits at the center of the scene and wears a layered cream and blush dress, a floral overskirt, a curved straw-style hat, pink shoes, and a cream crossbody purse. The optional extras are a mini hedgehog, teapot, teacup, cupcake, pastry basket, and dessert stand.

For the cleanest result, use tight amigurumi tension and invisible decreases throughout. The outfit should be worked neatly and assembled with careful placement because the visual charm of this design depends on balance: the hat tilt, ear fall, sleeve puff, apron spread, and bag angle all matter.

Materials

  • Main yarn: light DK or fine worsted cotton for the bunny in warm cream
  • Dress yarn: dusty blush pink, soft rose pink, pale beige, warm gold, leaf green
  • Accessory yarn: brown, taupe, ivory, berry pink, mocha, pastel yellow, sage
  • Hook: 2.25 mm for doll and miniatures, 2.5 mm for hat brim if you want softer drape
  • Safety eyes: 8 mm black for bunny, 5 mm black for hedgehog
  • Fiberfill stuffing
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stitch markers
  • Thin floral wire or soft millinery wire for hat brim, optional
  • Small pearls or pearl beads for dress trim, optional but highly recommended
  • Fabric glue or strong craft glue only if attaching beads after assembly
  • Soft blush cosmetic powder or pastel chalk for cheeks

Finished Size

Using the yarn and hook above, the bunny will measure about 11 to 12 inches tall seated including the hat, or about 13 inches tall from foot to top of hat when posed upright. The hedgehog is about 3 inches tall. The teapot is about 1.75 inches wide.

Head

The head is a smooth, almost spherical bunny head with a slightly flattened face front. The cheeks are soft and rounded, and the chin is gentle rather than sharply pointed. Keep stitches very even because the hat does not hide the front face shape.

  1. With cream, 6 sc in mr. (6)
  2. Inc around. (12)
  3. Rep 1 sc, inc around. (18)
  4. Rep 2 sc, inc around. (24)
  5. Rep 3 sc, inc around. (30)
  6. Rep 4 sc, inc around. (36)
  7. Rep 5 sc, inc around. (42)
  8. Rep 6 sc, inc around. (48)
  9. Rep 7 sc, inc around. (54)
  10. Rep 8 sc, inc around. (60)
  11. Rep 9 sc, inc around. (66)
  12. Rep 10 sc, inc around. (72)
  13. Rounds 13 to 24: sc around. (72)

Insert the 8 mm eyes between Rounds 17 and 18 with 11 visible stitches between them. In the photo, the eyes are placed slightly wide for a calm, elegant expression. Add a little extra stuffing behind the eye area so the face keeps a neat forward curve.

  1. Rep 10 sc, dec around. (66)
  2. Rep 9 sc, dec around. (60)
  3. Rep 8 sc, dec around. (54)
  4. Rep 7 sc, dec around. (48)
  5. Rep 6 sc, dec around. (42)

Stuff firmly now. Continue shaping with your fingers so the forehead stays rounded and the lower face remains smooth.

  1. Rep 5 sc, dec around. (36)
  2. Rep 4 sc, dec around. (30)
  3. Rep 3 sc, dec around. (24)
  4. Rep 2 sc, dec around. (18)
  5. Rep 1 sc, dec around. (12)
  6. Dec around. (6)

Fasten off and close. Do not over-compress the stuffing. The head should feel plush but structured.

Muzzle Shaping and Nose

The bunny has a tiny embroidered pink nose and a short vertical line descending to a delicate mouth. The muzzle is not a separate sewn piece. Instead, shape it with light embroidery and one subtle horizontal pull if needed.

  • Using pale pink embroidery yarn, stitch a small horizontal satin nose over 3 stitches centered between Rounds 19 and 20.
  • Add a short vertical line down 2 rows.
  • Work a tiny split mouth with one short angled stitch on each side.
  • Embroider curved lashes above the eyes using dark brown or black thread.

Ears Make 2

The ears are long, soft, and narrow with slightly rounded ends. They hang straight down from the sides of the hat line and reach to the upper bodice. Do not make them too wide. Their slim shape is important to the graceful traveler look.

  1. With cream, 6 sc in mr. (6)
  2. Inc around. (12)
  3. Rep 1 sc, inc around. (18)
  4. Rounds 4 to 8: sc around. (18)
  5. Rep 7 sc, dec, 7 sc, dec. (16)
  6. Rounds 10 to 26: sc around. (16)
  7. Rep 6 sc, dec, 6 sc, dec. (14)
  8. Rounds 28 to 38: sc around. (14)

Flatten the open edge and sew closed across the last round. Do not stuff the ears except for a tiny pinch of stuffing in the top 2 inches if you want softer volume near the attachment point.

Arms Make 2

The arms are slim and slightly bent, ending in rounded paws. One arm is posed outward holding the cupcake, while the other rests lower. For a close match, lightly shape each arm while sewing so both angles differ slightly.

  1. With cream, 6 sc in mr. (6)
  2. Inc around. (12)
  3. Rounds 3 to 5: sc around. (12)
  4. Rep 4 sc, dec around. (10)
  5. Round 7: sc around. (10)
  6. Change to blush trim if desired and work 1 round in BLO sc around. (10)
  7. Return to cream. Rounds 9 to 20: sc around. (10)

📌Thank you for reading the article

Stuff only the lower half. Flatten the top and sew closed. To create a gentle elbow bend, pinch the arm at Round 12 and add 2 tiny tacking stitches on the inner side before attaching.

Legs Make 2

The feet are hidden mostly by the dress, but the visible shoes are rounded and dainty. The lower legs should be sturdy enough to hang neatly from the skirt edge. Work the legs first, then add shoes later as separate coverings.

  1. With cream, 6 sc in mr. (6)
  2. Inc around. (12)
  3. Rep 1 sc, inc around. (18)
  4. Rounds 4 to 6: sc around. (18)
  5. Rep 4 sc, dec around. (15)
  6. Rounds 8 to 18: sc around. (15)

Stuff firmly in the foot and lightly in the leg. Fasten off the first leg. Finish the second leg but do not cut yarn.

Body

The body under the dress is slim, almost cone-shaped, and joined to the legs. It must support the fullness of the layered skirt without becoming bulky. Keep the torso neat and upright so the bag strap and bodice sit flat against the front.

  1. Join the legs with 4 ch. Sc around first leg 15, sc across 4 ch, sc around second leg 15, sc across other side of ch 4. (38)
  2. Round 2: sc around. (38)
  3. Rep 17 sc, inc, 18 sc, inc, 1 sc. (40)
  4. Rounds 4 to 6: sc around. (40)
  5. Rep 8 sc, dec around. (36)
  6. Rounds 8 to 10: sc around. (36)
  7. Rep 7 sc, dec around. (32)
  8. Rounds 12 to 14: sc around. (32)
  9. Rep 6 sc, dec around. (28)
  10. Rounds 16 to 18: sc around. (28)
  11. Rep 5 sc, dec around. (24)
  12. Rounds 20 to 22: sc around. (24)

Stuff the lower body firmly and the upper body moderately. The body should remain straight rather than round. This helps the dress fall in the elegant bell shape shown in the image.

  1. Round 23: sc around in BLO. (24)
  2. Rounds 24 to 27: sc around. (24)

Leave a long tail for sewing the head. The BLO round at the waist creates a natural shelf for the overskirt and apron layers.

Neck Join

Sew the head to the body with the face centered. The chin should point slightly downward, not upward. This tiny tilt is important because the hat brim angles forward and frames the eyes. Add extra stuffing at the neck before finishing the seam if needed.

Base Underskirt

The visible dress has a wide cream skirt base. This layer creates the full silhouette under the blush overskirt panels and scalloped trim. Work the skirt directly onto the FLO left from Body Round 23.

  1. Join cream to any FLO at waist. Work 2 sc in each stitch around. (48)
  2. Round 2: rep 7 sc, inc around. (54)
  3. Round 3: sc around. (54)
  4. Round 4: rep 8 sc, inc around. (60)
  5. Round 5: sc around. (60)
  6. Round 6: rep 9 sc, inc around. (66)
  7. Round 7: sc around. (66)
  8. Round 8: rep 10 sc, inc around. (72)
  9. Round 9: sc around. (72)
  10. Round 10: rep 11 sc, inc around. (78)
  11. Rounds 11 to 15: sc around. (78)

For the lower cream ruffle, work the next round in FLO to prepare an under-frill later.

  1. Round 16: sc around in FLO. (78)
  2. Round 17: rep 12 sc, inc around. (84)
  3. Round 18: sc around. (84)
  4. Round 19: rep 13 sc, inc around. (90)
  5. Rounds 20 to 23: sc around. (90)

Fasten off. This skirt should spread well and cover the upper legs when the bunny sits.

Cream Scallop Edge

Join cream at the hem. Work a soft shell border to create the airy lace-like lower edge shown in the image.

  • Rep: sl st in next st, skip 1, 5 dc in next st, skip 1, sl st in next st.
  • Continue around evenly.

This creates the main cream scallop visible above the blush lower dress band.

Blush Lower Skirt Layer

Now return to the FLO left from Round 16 of the cream skirt. This creates the deeper blush layer peeking from under the cream apron area. It should be slightly shorter than the cream layer but still full.

  1. Join blush yarn to any free loop. Work 2 sc in each st around. (156 if every loop is used as double, but for balanced drape work 1 sc in each loop plus inc every 2nd st for a softer 117 total)

For easier shaping and a cleaner finish, use the softer option below rather than doubling every loop fully.

  1. Work around with rep 1 sc, inc. (117)
  2. Round 3: sc around. (117)
  3. Round 4: rep 12 sc, inc around. (126)
  4. Round 5: sc around. (126)

At the hem, add a softer shell:

  • Rep: skip 1, 4 dc in next st, skip 1, sl st in next st.

This blush ruffle should extend slightly below the cream upper scallop but remain above the lowest pearl-trim edge effect.

Front Apron Panel

The front of the dress shows a large cream apron-like panel laid over the blush skirt, with floral embroidery and gold trim. Make one broad curved panel.

  1. With cream, ch 19.
  2. Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and across. (18)
  3. Rows 2 to 6: ch 1, turn, sc across. (18)
  4. Row 7: dec, 14 sc, dec. (16)
  5. Rows 8 to 10: sc across. (16)
  6. Row 11: dec, 12 sc, dec. (14)
  7. Rows 12 to 14: sc across. (14)
  8. Row 15: dec, 10 sc, dec. (12)
  9. Rows 16 to 18: sc across. (12)

Now shape the lower curve by working evenly around the entire panel with 1 round of sc, placing 3 sc in each corner. Add a second edging round in warm gold using hdc all around. Then add tiny rose embroidery and green vine stitches down both sides to match the photo.

Outer Overskirt Panels Make 2

These two blush panels sit to the left and right of the apron front. They are longer, curved, and trimmed in gold. The floral vine decoration is a major visual feature, so do not skip it.

  1. With blush, ch 23.
  2. Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and across. (22)
  3. Rows 2 to 5: sc across. (22)
  4. Row 6: dec, 18 sc, dec. (20)
  5. Rows 7 to 10: sc across. (20)
  6. Row 11: dec, 16 sc, dec. (18)
  7. Rows 12 to 14: sc across. (18)

At the lower outer edge, do not cut yarn. Continue around the panel with a border of sc. At the rounded lower portion, place 2 sc in every third stitch to create a soft flare. Then add a gold edging round of hdc or reverse sc.

Embroider vines in leaf green and add 3 small roses on each panel. The picture shows vertical floral flow rather than random flowers, so place them from upper inside edge toward lower outer curve. Sew one panel to each side of the apron panel.

Bodice Front and Pearl Trim

The upper dress has a fitted blush bodice with cream sleeves and a soft decorative necklace line. Because the torso itself is cream, you will build the bodice as an overlay rather than a separate full shell.

  • Join blush yarn at the upper front torso.
  • Work 18 sc across the front half only for 4 rows.
  • On the next row, dec at each side to 16.
  • Work 2 more rows even.
  • Fasten off.

Edge the neckline and side seams with warm gold sl st. Sew tiny pearls or crochet French-knot style dots in cream along the center front, following the visible vertical lines in the image. Add three tiny rose accents near the neckline.

Puff Sleeves Make 2

The sleeves are short, rounded, and slightly puffed, ending above the lower arm length. They sit high on the shoulder and should not droop. Work them separately and sew over the arm attachment seam.

  1. With cream, 6 sc in mr. (6)
  2. Inc around. (12)
  3. Rep 1 sc, inc around. (18)
  4. Rounds 4 to 5: sc around. (18)
  5. Round 6: rep 1 sc, dec around. (12)

Lightly stuff only the top puff if desired. Edge the lower opening in blush, then add a warm gold trim. Sew around the upper arm so the sleeve sits as a cap.

Shoes Make 2

The shoes are blush Mary Jane style with rounded fronts and a tiny pearl detail. They should cover the cream feet and look slightly dressy, not bulky.

  1. With blush, ch 7.
  2. Round 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, 4 sc, 3 sc in last ch, working opposite side 4 sc, 2 sc in last. (14)
  3. Round 2: inc, 4 sc, 3 inc, 4 sc, 2 inc. (20)
  4. Round 3: BLO sc around. (20)
  5. Rounds 4 to 5: sc around. (20)
  6. Round 6: 6 sc, 4 dec, 6 sc. (16)
  7. Round 7: 5 sc, 3 dec, 5 sc. (13)

Fasten off and slip onto each foot. Add a strap by chaining 8, sewing across the top opening, and securing a tiny pearl bead at the outer side.

Crossbody Purse

The purse is a cream rectangle with a curved flap, warm gold strap, and a tiny rose on the flap. It rests at the bunny’s front right side in the image, with the strap running from left shoulder to right hip.

  1. With cream, ch 11.
  2. Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and across. (10)
  3. Rows 2 to 10: sc across. (10)

Fold in half to make a pouch 10 stitches wide and 5 rows deep. Sew side seams. For the flap, join yarn at back upper edge and work:

  1. Row 1: 10 sc
  2. Row 2: dec, 6 sc, dec. (8)
  3. Row 3: sc across. (8)
  4. Row 4: dec, 4 sc, dec. (6)
  5. Row 5: sc across. (6)

Edge flap with warm gold sl st. Add one tiny rose and two leaves. Make a strap with 55 to 65 chains, then sl st back along the chain for strength. Sew from upper left back of purse to upper right back. Position diagonally on the doll.

Wide-Brim Hat

The hat is a major design feature. It is tan with a rounded crown, a medium-wide downward brim, and a flower garland around the band. The brim slopes gently down at the sides and forward, framing the face and ears.

Hat Crown

  1. With tan, 6 sc in mr. (6)
  2. Inc around. (12)
  3. Rep 1 sc, inc around. (18)
  4. Rep 2 sc, inc around. (24)
  5. Rep 3 sc, inc around. (30)
  6. Rep 4 sc, inc around. (36)
  7. Rep 5 sc, inc around. (42)
  8. Rep 6 sc, inc around. (48)
  9. Rep 7 sc, inc around. (54)
  10. Rounds 10 to 18: sc around. (54)

If you want a slightly taller crown like the picture, add one more plain round. Test the crown on the head before beginning the brim. It should sit low over the forehead without squeezing the ears inward.

Hat Brim

  1. Round 19: BLO sc around. (54)
  2. Round 20: rep 8 sc, inc around. (60)
  3. Round 21: sc around. (60)
  4. Round 22: rep 9 sc, inc around. (66)
  5. Round 23: sc around. (66)
  6. Round 24: rep 10 sc, inc around. (72)
  7. Round 25: sc around. (72)
  8. Round 26: rep 11 sc, inc around. (78)
  9. Round 27: sc around. (78)
  10. Round 28: rep 12 sc, inc around. (84)

For the final edge, work one round of hdc loosely. If desired, thread a very fine wire through the last round to help hold the elegant downward curve. Shape the brim so the front tilts slightly lower than the back.

Hat Band and Flowers

Make a band with cream or pale beige yarn by chaining 55 and working 1 row of sl st back. Wrap around the crown base and sew in place. Add 5 to 7 tiny flowers in blush, rose, and cream with small green leaves.

  • Tiny flower: 5 sc in mr, then in each stitch work sl st, ch 2, 2 dc, ch 2, sl st.
  • Leaf: ch 5, sl st in 2nd ch, sc, hdc, sl st.

Cluster the flowers mostly on one side of the brim band like the image, then let the arrangement extend partially across the front.

Mini Cupcake

The bunny holds a small cupcake with tan base and cream frosting topped by a rose center. This accessory is small but very important for the tea party traveler styling.

  1. With tan, 6 sc in mr. (6)
  2. Inc around. (12)
  3. Round 3: BLO sc around. (12)
  4. Rounds 4 to 5: sc around. (12)

With cream, join to top front loops and work:

  1. Rep 1 sc, inc around. (18)
  2. Round 7: sc around. (18)
  3. Rep 1 sc, dec around. (12)
  4. Round 9: dec around. (6)

📌Thank you for reading the article

Add a tiny rose swirl in pink on top and sew lightly into the bunny’s raised hand.

Mini Teacup

  1. With cream, 6 sc in mr. (6)
  2. Inc around. (12)
  3. Rounds 3 to 4: sc around. (12)
  4. Round 5: BLO sc around. (12)

Add a handle by chaining 5 and sewing the ends to the side. The cup in the image is simple and tiny, so keep it very plain.

Mini Teapot

  1. With cream, 6 sc in mr. (6)
  2. Inc around. (12)
  3. Rep 1 sc, inc around. (18)
  4. Rounds 4 to 6: sc around. (18)
  5. Rep 1 sc, dec around. (12)
  6. Dec around. (6)

Add a lid with 6 sc in mr, then one round even. Make a knob with a tiny rose. For the spout, ch 5, then sl st back. For the handle, ch 7 and sew into an arc. Embroider a small rose on the body.

Mini Pastry Basket

The basket on the left side of the image is shallow and oval with rolled pastries inside. It adds display charm and helps the full scene match the picture more accurately.

  1. With blush, ch 9.
  2. Round 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, 6 sc, 3 sc in last ch, opposite side 6 sc, 2 sc in last. (18)
  3. Round 2: inc, 6 sc, 3 inc, 6 sc, 2 inc. (24)
  4. Round 3: BLO sc around. (24)
  5. Round 4: sc around. (24)

Make the pastry rolls by chaining 12 to 15 in cream, yellow, and tan, then rolling and stitching them into spirals. Place them in the basket and secure lightly.

Dessert Stand

The dessert stand in the back has a stacked, delicate look. It does not need to be large, but it should read clearly as a tea stand.

  • Make two flat circles: one with 18 stitches and one with 24 stitches.
  • Make a center post by crocheting a tube of 6 sc for 8 rounds.
  • Sew smaller circle on top and larger circle on bottom.
  • Add a hanging ring with chained yarn at the top.
  • Place mini cupcakes and pastries on both levels.

Hedgehog Companion

The small hedgehog is worked in two textures: a smooth beige face and body front with darker textured spines covering the back and head. It wears a green lower body garment and holds a teacup. Its scale should feel miniature next to the bunny.

Head and Body Front

  1. With beige, 6 sc in mr. (6)
  2. Inc around. (12)
  3. Rep 1 sc, inc around. (18)
  4. Rep 2 sc, inc around. (24)
  5. Rounds 5 to 8: sc around. (24)
  6. Insert 5 mm eyes between Rounds 6 and 7 with 5 stitches between.
  7. Rep 2 sc, dec around. (18)
  8. Rounds 10 to 11: sc around. (18)
  9. Change lower half to green for garment and work 2 more rounds. (18)
  10. Rep 1 sc, dec around. (12)
  11. Dec around. (6)

Stuff and close. Embroider a tiny nose.

Spine Cap

With taupe-brown, begin as a separate cap.

  1. 6 sc in mr. (6)
  2. Inc around. (12)
  3. Rep 1 sc, inc around. (18)
  4. Rep 2 sc, inc around. (24)
  5. Rep 3 sc, inc around. (30)

To create spine texture, work one round of repeating sl st, ch 3, sl st in same st around, then sew the cap onto the back of the head and body so the spines fall downward like the photo.

Hedgehog Arms and Cup

  • Arms: 6 sc in mr, then 4 rounds even. Make 2 and sew low on the sides.
  • Teacup: use the mini teacup method in a smaller scale.

Roses and Vine Embroidery

The floral decoration on the dress is what turns the bunny from a basic doll into the exact elegant traveler style shown. Keep the vines slender and slightly curved. Use muted rose tones, not bright red or bold fuchsia.

  • Embroider long stems with green backstitch or split stitch.
  • Add detached chain leaves in pairs.
  • Make tiny roses by wrapping yarn around the needle and stitching down in a spiral.
  • Place extra roses on the purse flap, hat band, and lower overskirt panels.

Assembly Order

  1. Sew head to body.
  2. Attach ears slightly behind the eye line so they fall straight down.
  3. Sew arms at upper side body, angled slightly forward.
  4. Attach apron front panel and side overskirt panels.
  5. Add puff sleeves.
  6. Slip shoes onto feet and secure.
  7. Sew purse strap diagonally and tack purse to skirt.
  8. Place hat over ears and tack invisibly at back and one side.
  9. Sew cupcake into raised hand.
  10. Arrange optional accessories around the bunny.

Final Assembly and Facial Detailing

Check that the hat sits low, the ears hang evenly, and the purse crosses the bodice at a natural diagonal. Add blush softly to the cheeks. Keep the nose tiny, lashes curved, and mouth delicate. A gentle head tilt and slightly lifted cupcake arm will make the finished bunny match the image best.

Care Notes

Display indoors away from direct sun and moisture. Avoid hanging the bunny by the hat or purse strap. If the brim loses shape, steam lightly from a distance and reshape by hand. Beaded trims and mini accessories are decorative, so handle the set gently.

Quick Checklist Before You Finish

  • Head: round, smooth, eyes evenly placed
  • Ears: long, narrow, aligned and relaxed
  • Dress: full cream skirt, blush lower layer, floral panels attached
  • Trim: warm gold edging and pearl accents added
  • Accessories: hat, purse, cupcake, and optional tea pieces completed
  • Styling: cheeks blushed and hat flowers balanced on one side

Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines

Spot clean only with a lightly damp cloth and mild soap. Never machine wash if the doll includes beads, wire, or glued details. Dry flat on a towel and reshape the hat brim, skirt, and ears while damp. Store in a breathable box with acid-free tissue to protect the floral trims.
