Pattern Overview
This pattern is written in US crochet terms and is designed as a detailed amigurumi-style doll with sewn-on clothing and decorative autumn accessories. The finished doll is approximately 12 inches tall when made with sport weight yarn and a 2.25 mm hook.
The doll is worked with a firm gauge so the stitches look neat and dense like the image. Most parts are crocheted in continuous rounds. Clothing pieces use joined rounds, rows, scallops, embroidery, and layered textures to create the full autumn fairy look.
Skill Level
- Intermediate amigurumi level.
- Suitable for patient beginners who can crochet tight rounds, sew small pieces, and embroider simple details.
- Requires single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, increases, invisible decreases, color changes, front-loop work, back-loop work, and simple surface stitching.
Finished Size
- Doll height: about 12 inches from shoes to top of head.
- Head width: about 3.5 inches.
- Skirt width across bottom: about 6.5 inches.
- Fox bag: about 2.25 inches wide.
- Mini pumpkin basket: about 2 inches wide.
- Pumpkin cap: about 3 inches wide.
Materials
- Sport weight cotton yarn in skin tone, cream, rust orange, burnt orange, golden yellow, sage green, chocolate brown, tan, beige, black, white, blush pink, mustard, dark green, copper, and red-orange.
- 2.25 mm crochet hook for the doll and most details.
- 2.75 mm crochet hook for the fuller skirt ruffles if you want extra drape.
- 6 mm black safety eyes or black embroidery thread.
- Polyester fiberfill.
- Yarn needle.
- Stitch markers.
- Small scissors.
- Pins for positioning pieces before sewing.
- Optional: pipe cleaner or craft wire for arms if the doll is for display only.
Abbreviations
- MR = magic ring.
- ch = chain.
- sl st = slip stitch.
- sc = single crochet.
- hdc = half double crochet.
- dc = double crochet.
- tr = treble crochet.
- inc = 2 sc in the same stitch.
- dec = invisible single crochet decrease.
- BLO = back loop only.
- FLO = front loop only.
- FO = fasten off.

Gauge
Using a 2.25 mm hook and sport weight cotton yarn, 7 sc and 7 rounds should measure about 1 inch. The exact gauge is less important than firm, even stitches. If stuffing shows through, use a smaller hook.
Important Construction Notes
- Work amigurumi pieces in continuous rounds unless the instruction says to join.
- Stuff the head firmly, the body medium-firm, and the arms lightly.
- The skirt layers are made separately around the waist so the dress has the thick, tiered autumn look shown in the image.
- The hair is built from a fitted wig cap, ribbed front bangs, and long curled strands sewn around the sides and back.
- The fox bag is made separately and attached with a diagonal strap from the left shoulder to the right hip.
Main Doll Head

- Arrange basket, pumpkins, pumpkin cap, leaves, acorn, and squirrel around the finished doll.
Detailed Notes for Accurate Shape
- The head should be larger than the body, about one-third of the doll’s full height.
- The skirt must be wide and rounded, not straight. Use extra increases if your skirt looks narrow.
- The hair should frame the face and fall past the shoulders, with strands curling outward near the skirt.
- The fox bag should sit on top of the skirt, not hang below the hem.
- The sleeves should be puffy and cream-colored, forming a strong contrast with the rust dress.
- The bottom sage-green ruffle should show clearly beneath the golden scallops.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
Check that the doll can sit or stand with support before securing all accessories. Pin the hair, sleeves, bag, and skirt layers first, then sew only after the placement looks balanced from the front.
- Eyes should be even and placed between R15 and R16 of the head.
- Cheeks should sit just below the eyes, not too close to the nose.
- The nose should be small and soft, about 2 sts wide.
- Hair strands should cover the side seams of the wig cap.
- The pumpkin hair clip should sit above the doll’s left eyebrow area.
Care Notes
- This doll is best used as a decorative handmade item.
- Spot clean with cool water and mild soap.
- Do not machine wash if the doll has safety eyes, embroidery, or wired parts.
- Reshape the skirt layers and hair curls while damp if needed.
- Allow the doll to air dry fully before storing.
Quick Checklist Before You Finish
- Head is firmly attached and does not wobble.
- Both arms are even and angled naturally downward.
- Skirt layers are visible in rust, orange, golden yellow, and sage green.
- Fox bag is centered at the right hip with the strap crossing the chest.
- Pumpkin embroidery is centered on the bodice.
- Hair clip is secure and visible.
- Mini pumpkins, basket, pumpkin cap, leaves, acorn, and squirrel are complete if making the full scene.
Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
To keep the doll looking fresh, store it away from direct sunlight for long periods. Cotton yarn can fade if displayed in a bright window. A shelf, craft cabinet, or covered display box works well.
If dust gathers on the hair or skirt, use a soft clean brush and gently brush in the direction of the stitches. Avoid pulling the long hair strands because they are sewn individually to the wig cap.
For small stains, dab the area with a damp cloth and a tiny amount of mild soap. Do not soak the fox bag, face, or embroidered bodice. Press with a clean towel and let the piece dry naturally.
Before storing, make sure every part is completely dry. Place the doll upright or lying flat with tissue paper under the skirt ruffles so the scalloped hem keeps its shape.
