Gauge and Construction Notes
Gauge is not critical, but tight stitches are important. For a firm amigurumi fabric, 6 sc and 6 rounds should measure about 1 inch. Use a smaller hook if stuffing shows through the stitches.
The frog is worked mostly in continuous rounds. The head has a separate upper and lower jaw so the mouth stays open. The shirt and shorts are crocheted directly over the body shape to create a fitted outfit like the photo.
Stuff the head firmly, the body medium-firm, and the long arms and legs lightly. The arms and legs should stay slim, flexible, and slightly curved. The hands and feet are flat with curled webbed digits.
Main Frog Head: Lower Head and Chin

Black Mouth Interior
Use black yarn. This oval sits inside the frog’s open mouth. It should be visible as a deep black opening between the upper and lower green head pieces.
- Rnd 1: Ch 12. Starting in the second ch from hook, sc 10, 3 sc in last ch. Work on the other side of the chain, sc 9, inc in last ch. 24 sts.

FO with a long black tail. Do not stuff. Sew the black oval to the inside front of the lower head. Leave the top half ready to be caught under the upper dome lip.

Joining the Head
- Place the black mouth oval between the upper dome and lower head.
- Pin the upper dome about 0.75 inch above the lower head at the front, leaving a wide open mouth.
- Sew the back half of the upper dome to the back half of the lower head with green yarn.
- At the front, sew only the side edges together, leaving the black mouth visible.
- Add extra stuffing through the back opening before closing the final gap.
- Shape with your hands until the head is round, wide, and slightly tilted upward.
Raised Frog Eyes
Make two cream eye bumps. They are placed on the top of the head, slightly forward and wide apart, just like the photo.

Green Speckled Texture
The frog in the image has a lively green texture. To copy that look, use light green and dark green yarn scraps for tiny surface stitches.
- Add short random stitches across the head, arms, legs, and belly.
- Keep the stitches small, about one crochet stitch wide.
- Use more light green on the front of the body and more dark green near the sides.
- Avoid the eyes, mouth interior, shirt, shorts, and accessories.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
Check the face from the front before knotting any final threads. The eyes should sit high, the mouth should stay open, and the tongue should hang from the center with a soft curve.
- Use black yarn to add a tiny highlight or smile crease at each mouth corner.
- Tack the upper lip slightly forward so the mouth keeps its deep shadow.
- Shape the eye bumps with your fingers after stuffing.
- Secure the tongue inside the mouth with at least three stitches.
- Weave in all visible yarn tails on the back side of the doll.
Care Notes
- Spot clean with cool water and mild soap.
- Do not machine wash if safety eyes, buttons, or wire are used.
- Press the wet area gently with a towel and reshape by hand.
- Let the frog dry flat in a shaded, airy place.
Quick Checklist Before You Finish
- Head is round, wide, and firmly stuffed.
- Black mouth opening is visible and centered.
- Red tongue curves downward from the mouth.
- Striped shirt has even blue and white rows.
- Two red anchor buttons are centered on the shirt.
- Brown shorts sit below the shirt with straight leg openings.
- Hands and feet have separate curled webbed digits.
- Bag, fish applique, basket, hat, sandals, and life ring are complete.
Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
Store the frog away from direct sunlight to protect the bright green, red, and blue yarn colors. Keep the accessories flat when storing so the hat brim, bag strap, basket handle, and life preserver ring do not bend out of shape.
For dust removal, use a soft dry brush and work gently around the eyes, tongue, buttons, and fish applique. If the doll becomes misshapen, lightly steam from a distance and reshape with your hands without pressing the stitches flat.
