Pattern Overview
This pattern is written in US crochet terms and is designed as a detailed amigurumi-style doll pattern. The finished doll has a sitting garden pose, long dangling legs, oversized shoes, rounded white gloves, a raised long muzzle, and the playful expression shown in the photo.
The doll is worked mostly in continuous rounds using tight single crochet stitches. The clothing pieces are crocheted directly onto the body where possible, while small details such as straps, buttons, flowers, bag, hat, and garden props are made separately and sewn on.
Finished Size
- Doll height: about 14 to 16 inches from shoes to top of green hat when made with worsted weight yarn and a 3.0 mm hook.
- Sitting height: about 11 to 12 inches.
- Head width: about 4 inches.
- Leg length: about 5 inches from shorts hem to shoe sole.
- Accessories: watering can about 2.5 inches wide, straw hat about 4 inches wide, small pot about 2 inches tall.
Skill Level
Intermediate beginner to intermediate. The basic stitches are simple, but the project includes many shaped pieces and small sewn details. Beginners can complete it by working slowly, counting each round, and using stitch markers for every continuous round.
Materials
- Worsted weight cotton or cotton-acrylic yarn in black, beige, white, yellow, denim blue, lime green, brown, gray, terracotta orange, straw beige, flower yellow, dark brown, and a small amount of blue.
- 3.0 mm crochet hook for the doll.
- 2.5 mm crochet hook for flowers, bag details, hat band, and small accessories.
- Fiberfill stuffing.
- Two 10 mm black safety eyes or black sewn pupils.
- Two small tan buttons for overall straps.
- Yarn needle.
- Stitch markers.
- Scissors.
- Black embroidery thread for eyebrow hair and glove lines.
- Brown embroidery thread for smile line.
- Optional pipe cleaners for neck, ears, and legs if you want firmer posing.

- dec: invisible single crochet decrease
- BLO: back loops only
- FLO: front loops only

Gauge and Fabric Notes
Use a tight amigurumi tension so stuffing does not show through the stitches. A good gauge is about 6 sc by 6 rounds per inch with worsted weight yarn and a 3.0 mm hook. If your stitches are loose, go down to a 2.75 mm hook.
The doll in the photo has firm shaping and visible even rows. Stuff the head, muzzle, shoes, and body firmly. Stuff the arms, ears, and legs more lightly so they can hang naturally while the doll sits on a shelf or table edge.
Important Construction Notes
- The head is black with a beige lower face and a large forward muzzle.
- The muzzle is made separately and sewn high on the front of the face.
- The white eyes are large vertical ovals placed close together above the muzzle.
- The black nose is round and raised at the front tip of the muzzle.
- The ears are long black flattened tubes attached to the sides of the head.
- The body wears a yellow shirt under blue overalls.
- The arms are black with white gloves and yellow short sleeves.
- The legs are black with blue overall shorts and yellow sneakers.
- The green hat is tall with a rounded clover-like top and a black band.

FO and leave a long sewing tail. Sew the eyes vertically on the upper front of the head, above the muzzle. Place them close together with the bottom edges slightly tucked behind the muzzle top.
Black Pupils
Use 10 mm safety eyes if preferred. Insert one pupil near the lower inner area of each white eye before sewing the eyes down. For a softer all-yarn version, make two small black circles.
- R1: MR, 6 sc. 6 sts.
- R2: inc around. 12 sts.
FO and sew one black circle onto each white eye. Place the pupils slightly toward the center to create the friendly side-looking expression from the image.

Head Hairs
Use black embroidery thread. Cut three pieces about 5 inches long. Insert through the top front of the head, fold upward, and knot close to the scalp. Trim each strand to about 1.25 inches. Add a tiny black knot at the end of each strand if desired.
Floppy Ears

- Add the sunflower to one ear.
- Add the crossbody bag across the front.
- Place the watering can, pot, and straw hat beside the finished doll.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
Check the face from the front before sewing every piece permanently. The eyes should be close together, the muzzle should project forward, and the nose should sit high on the muzzle tip. These three placements create the playful garden character expression.
Use tiny stitches with matching yarn when attaching the muzzle, eyes, ears, and hat. Pull each stitch firmly but not so tightly that the crochet fabric puckers. Shape the muzzle with your fingers while sewing so the front remains rounded.
Add the brown smile after the muzzle is secure. Keep the smile slightly curved and place it below the nose line. Sew the small white tooth under one side of the muzzle so it peeks out in the same cheerful way as the pictured doll.
For the outfit, keep the blue bib centered on the yellow shirt. The straps should look snug but not stretched. The two buttons should sit evenly near the upper bib corners. The brown bag strap should cross diagonally and rest naturally over the overalls.
Care Notes
- Spot clean the doll with a damp cloth and mild soap.
- Do not soak if you used buttons, cardboard, pipe cleaners, or safety eyes.
- Let the doll air dry completely before storing.
- Keep the green hat and straw hat shaped by pressing them gently with your fingers after cleaning.
- If gifting to a child under three, embroider the eyes and replace buttons with crocheted circles.
Quick Checklist Before You Finish
- The head is firmly stuffed and securely attached to the neck.
- The muzzle is centered and projects forward.
- The eyes are tall white ovals placed close together.
- The floppy ears hang evenly on both sides.
- The green hat sits at a slight playful angle.
- The yellow shirt is visible under the blue overalls.

Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
To preserve the doll’s shape, avoid machine washing. The long muzzle, hat top, shoes, and watering can are shaped pieces that may flatten if soaked or twisted. Clean only the surface and gently squeeze with a towel if any area becomes damp.
Store the doll upright or seated with the legs hanging naturally. Do not press heavy items on top of the green hat or the beige muzzle. If the hat bends during storage, reshape it by lightly steaming from a safe distance and pressing it with your fingers.
Keep the doll away from direct sunlight for long periods, especially the lime green hat, yellow shirt, and blue overalls. Bright yarn colors can fade over time. For display, choose a dry shelf, craft table, nursery corner, or garden-themed handmade collection area.
If dust collects on the doll, use a soft makeup brush or clean paintbrush to remove it from the stitches. Brush around the eyes, flower petals, bag, and shoe laces carefully so small sewn details remain secure.
Your Goofy Garden Overall Doll is now complete, with its cheerful overalls, tall green hat, floppy ears, garden bag, sunflower, sneakers, and tiny outdoor accessories ready for a charming handmade display.
