Bring a tiny pop-up drink stand to life with this Bee Balm Herbal-Soda Caravan, packed with miniature details that look adorable on a shelf or craft table. If you enjoy shopping for a quality cotton yarn bundle, an ergonomic hook set, and crisp stitch markers, this build will feel extra satisfying.
This caravan is designed like a cozy garden soda bar, complete with a chilled display, counter service, and a sweet little vendor. You’ll likely want to shop for mini LED fairy lights, small glass-style beads, and sturdy craft wire for clean shaping, especially if you love realistic crochet miniatures.
Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.
Project Overview
This pattern makes the full scene: the caravan shell with open serving side, flowered roof, “HERBAL SODA” sign, counter and prep area, interior bench with cushions, mini fridge with drinks, hanging basket with butterfly, string lights, chalkboard menu, outdoor stools, ice bin, insect hotel, and potted bee balm.
The finished scale is “dollhouse-style” and intentionally dense with details. Use tighter tension than usual so pieces hold their shape. Many minis are made with smaller hooks than the caravan body. Follow the hook size called out for each section.
Finished Size (Approx.)
- Caravan base: 10.5 in (26.5 cm) long, 6.5 in (16.5 cm) wide
- Caravan height to roof: 6.5 in (16.5 cm)
- Vendor (bear/otter style): 5.5 in (14 cm) tall
- Stools: 2.5 in (6.5 cm) tall
Yarn + Hook Plan (Important)
To match the miniature look in the image, you’ll use multiple yarn weights and hook sizes. If you prefer one yarn weight, you still must change hook sizes for tiny pieces so they don’t look bulky.
Recommended Yarn Weights
- Main caravan: DK (#3) cotton or cotton-blend for clean stitches
- Vendor + stools: DK (#3) or sport (#2) depending on your tension
- Mini food + small props: sport (#2) or fingering (#1)
- Embroidery: matching floss or thin yarn for facial and sign details
Hook Sizes Used
- 3.0 mm: caravan shell panels, roof, counter blocks (DK yarn)
- 2.5 mm: bench cushions, curtains, sign border (DK/sport)
- 2.0 mm: flowers, tiny bottles, lemons, butterfly, menu frame (sport/fingering)
- 1.5 mm: very small accents (straws, tiny labels, cup rims) (fingering)
Notions + Supplies
- Fiberfill stuffing
- Stitch markers
- Tapestry needle
- Sharp scissors
- Fabric glue (optional, for tiny labels)
- Craft wire (22–24 gauge) for sign support and hanging basket rim
- Plastic canvas or thin EVA foam for structure inserts (optional but helps)
- Mini LED fairy lights (warm white), thin wire style
- 8–10 mm safety eyes OR embroidered eyes
- Small snap or tiny magnets (optional) for fridge door
Color Palette (Match the Image)
- Caravan main: leafy green
- Trim + doorway: blush pink
- Roof flowers: bee balm pink/magenta with small yellow centers
- Interior: beige/tan + soft pink details
- Countertop: tan
- Mini fridge: cool gray with white interior shelves
- Vendor: warm brown body, cream muzzle, blue overalls, yellow shirt, pale blue cap
- Menu board: dark charcoal with white stitching
- Butterfly: orange + black with white dots

Caravan Body (3.0 mm hook, DK yarn)
The caravan is built from structured panels: base, two side walls, back wall, and a front-left “entry” curve. The serving side is open like the image, with an interior bench visible. Make panels first, then seam into a firm shell.
Base Panel
- Ch 51.
- Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and across. (50)
- Rows 2–32: Ch 1, turn, sc across. (50)
- Fasten off. Block to a neat rectangle.
Back Wall Panel
- Ch 51.
- Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch and across. (50)
- Rows 2–20: Ch 1, turn, sc across. (50)
- Fasten off.
Closed Side Wall (Left Side With Windows + Fringe Area)
This side is mostly closed like the image, with a small window opening and decorative fringe near the back curve. The wall has a soft rounded top edge so the roof sits snugly.
- Ch 33.
- Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch and across. (32)
- Rows 2–16: Ch 1, turn, sc across. (32)
- Row 17: Ch 1, turn, sc 6, ch 8, skip 8, sc to end. (Window opening)
- Row 18: Ch 1, turn, sc across, placing 8 sc into the ch-8 space. (32)
- Rows 19–21: Ch 1, turn, sc across. (32)
- Shape top: Row 22: Ch 1, turn, dec, sc to last 2, dec. (30)
- Row 23: Ch 1, turn, dec, sc to last 2, dec. (28)
- Row 24: Ch 1, turn, dec, sc to last 2, dec. (26)
- Rows 25–26: Ch 1, turn, sc across. (26)
- Fasten off.
Open Serving Side Wall (Right Side)
This wall is mostly open, like a serving window that runs long across the side. You will crochet a lower wall section and a top awning beam, then join them with posts so the opening stays crisp.
Lower Wall Strip
- Ch 51.
- Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch and across. (50)
- Rows 2–10: Ch 1, turn, sc across. (50)
- Fasten off.
Upper Beam Strip
- Ch 51.
- Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch and across. (50)
- Rows 2–5: Ch 1, turn, sc across. (50)
- Fasten off.
Joining Posts (Create the Large Opening)
Use the 3.0 mm hook. Place the lower strip and upper strip parallel, with a gap that will become the opening. Join with vertical posts at the ends and a few support points like the image’s window frame.
- Align strips. On the left end, join yarn to the top-left corner of the lower strip.
- Ch 11, sl st to the matching corner on the upper strip.
- Work sc evenly down the chain to reinforce: sc 10 down the chain.
- Repeat on the right end.
- Add 2 inner posts: measure in about 16 sts from each end. Join yarn to lower strip, ch 11, sl st to upper strip, sc 10 back down.
- Fasten off.
Front Entry Curve (Blush Pink Trim Area)
The image shows a soft pink frame at the front opening and a curved edge. Make a front panel that is narrower and rounded on top, leaving the “front” more open.
- With blush pink, ch 33.
- Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch and across. (32)
- Rows 2–10: Ch 1, turn, sc across. (32)
- Row 11: Ch 1, turn, dec, sc to last 2, dec. (30)
- Row 12: Ch 1, turn, dec, sc to last 2, dec. (28)
- Row 13: Ch 1, turn, dec, sc to last 2, dec. (26)
- Row 14: Ch 1, turn, dec, sc to last 2, dec. (24)
- Row 15: Ch 1, turn, sc across. (24)
- Fasten off.
Assemble the Caravan Shell (3.0 mm hook, DK yarn)
Seam with whip stitch through both loops for clean edges. Keep seams tight so the caravan stands up firmly. If you’re adding foam/plastic canvas inserts, cut them now to match panels and slide them in as you seam.
- Sew back wall to the base panel along one short edge.
- Sew the closed left wall to the base along one long edge.
- Sew the open serving wall assembly to the opposite long edge.
- Sew the front entry curve panel to the remaining short edge, aligning bottom edges.
- Reinforce corners with extra stitches so the shell stays square.

- If using the extra layer, stack it behind the first and stitch through centers.
Attach Roof to Shell
Pin the roof so it sits centered and slightly overhangs. Sew along the top edges of the shell. Leave the roof removable only if you want easy interior access; otherwise sew all around for a sturdy display.
Place Roof Flowers
Arrange clusters like the image: flowers run across the top and down the front roof edge, leaving space for the big sign and the straw cup. Sew each flower securely through its center.
HERBAL SODA Sign + Straw Cup (2.5 mm + 2.0 mm hooks)
The sign sits on the roof edge and reads “HERBAL SODA” in bold dark letters on a pink panel framed with green. The straw cup sits beside it with striped straws.

Scene Placement (Match the Image Layout)
Arrange pieces before stitching them down. The counter sits at the open side, stools in front, vendor to the right of the stools, menu board near the vendor, ice bin and insect hotel on the left front, and potted flowers clustered around the caravan edges.
- Sew the counter to the open wall’s lower strip so it looks built-in.
- Place the fridge behind the counter, slightly left of center.
- Sew the bench inside along the right interior wall.
- Attach curtains to the inner opening posts.
- Secure the sign and straw cup on the roof front edge.
- Cluster roof flowers around the sign like the photo.
- Hang the basket on the right roof edge, butterfly facing outward.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
Check the caravan stands flat and the roof sits evenly. Stitch any loose edges down so nothing curls. On the vendor, confirm eyes are level before tightening the muzzle stitches. Add a tiny blush stitch on cheeks if desired, using pink embroidery floss.
Care Notes
- Display pieces away from direct sunlight to prevent fading.
- Keep mini parts out of reach of small children and pets.
- If you used LEDs, remove batteries for long storage.

Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
Dust gently with a soft makeup brush or clean paintbrush. For spot cleaning, dab with a barely damp cloth and a tiny amount of gentle soap, then blot dry. Avoid soaking, especially on embroidered lettering and minis. Store in a closed box with silica packets to reduce moisture.
