This sweet schnauzer dog amigurumi is designed with a soft beige body, rounded folded ears, glossy black eyes, a fluffy white muzzle, and a garden-inspired outfit. The finished doll looks lovely beside handmade doll accessories, crochet toy display shelves, amigurumi gift baskets, and boutique nursery decor.
The layered floral dress, tiny shoulder bag, straw-style hat, watering can, and flower pot create a complete spring garden scene. This project is ideal for makers who enjoy detailed crochet amigurumi patterns, collectible handmade plush dogs, floral doll clothes, crochet doll accessories, and thoughtful handmade gifts.

Pattern Overview
This pattern makes a seated schnauzer-style dog doll with long straight legs, rounded feet in flower sandals, a fitted floral bodice, a scalloped layered skirt, a small crossbody bag, and a textured facial beard. The proportions are made to match the pictured design: a large expressive head, slim body, short arms, tall legs, and decorative garden accessories.
The dog is worked mostly in continuous rounds. The dress pieces are worked separately and sewn around the body so the layers sit clearly over each other. Small embroidery flowers are added last to create the busy floral texture visible on the bodice, skirt, purse, and sandals.
Finished Size
- Finished doll height: about 10.5 inches when seated upright with legs hanging.
- Head width: about 3.5 inches across the cheeks.
- Body length from neck to skirt hem: about 4 inches.
- Leg length from lower body to sandal sole: about 4 inches.
- Hat diameter: about 3.75 inches.
- Flower pot height: about 1.75 inches.
- Watering can width: about 2 inches including spout and handle.
Skill Level
This is an intermediate amigurumi pattern because it includes shaping, embroidery, layered crochet clothing, small accessories, and careful assembly. A confident beginner can complete it by following each round slowly and using stitch markers at the start of every round.

Gauge
Using a 2.25 mm hook and sport weight cotton yarn, 7 sc rounds over 42 stitches should measure about 2 inches across when worked as a flat circle. Exact gauge is not required, but all pieces should be made with the same hook and yarn weight so the clothing fits the doll properly.
Important Construction Notes
- Work the head, body, arms, legs, ears, muzzle, and feet tightly so stuffing does not show.
- The dog’s face should be large and rounded, with the eyes placed wide apart and slightly low on the head.
- The white muzzle and beard cover the center lower face, creating the recognizable schnauzer look.
- The folded ears are sewn at a downward angle on both sides of the head.
- The dress is built in three visible skirt layers: mint-blue upper ruffle, floral cream middle layer, and yellow-blue lower scallop layer.
- Use small flowers in rose, blue, yellow, lavender, and green to match the garden style.

- Round 25: Sc 1, dec, repeat 6 times. (12)
- Round 26: Dec around. (6)
FO, leave a tail, weave through the front loops of the final 6 stitches, pull tight, and hide the end inside the head.
Tan Forehead and Side Face Patches
The pictured dog has tan coloring around the upper head, sides, and ears, while the center forehead and muzzle remain pale. These patches are sewn flat over the head after the base head is complete.
Left Side Patch
- Row 1: With tan beige, ch 7, sc in second ch from hook and across. (6)
- Row 2: Ch 1, turn, inc, sc 4, inc. (8)

- Row 8: Ch 1, turn, dec, sc 6, dec. (8)
- Row 9: Ch 1, turn, dec, sc 4, dec. (6)
FO with a long sewing tail. Sew from the top side of the head down beside the left eye, leaving the center forehead cream. The patch should curve naturally around the cheek.
Right Side Patch
Repeat the left side patch. Sew symmetrically on the opposite side. Keep both patches slightly behind the eyes so the cream face remains visible in the center.
Center Forehead Stripe
- Row 1: With warm cream or slightly lighter ivory, ch 5, sc in second ch from hook and across. (4)
- Rows 2-8: Ch 1, turn, sc across. (4)
- Row 9: Ch 1, turn, dec twice. (2)
FO and sew vertically from the top center of the head down toward the muzzle. This creates the raised pale stripe visible between the tan side sections.
Schnauzer Muzzle Base
The muzzle is wide, soft, and rounded, sitting below the eyes. Use warm cream for the base and add white beard strands over it. The shape should be oval, not pointed.
- Round 1: With warm cream, ch 6. Sc in second ch from hook, sc 3, 3 sc in last ch. Working on the other side of the chain, sc 3, inc in last st. (12)
- Round 2: Inc, sc 3, inc in next 3 sts, sc 3, inc in next 2 sts. (18)
- Round 3: Sc 1, inc, sc 4, sc 1, inc, sc 1, inc, sc 4, sc 1, inc, sc 1, inc. (24)
- Rounds 4-5: Sc around. (24)

Stuff lightly. FO with a long tail. Sew the muzzle between the eyes and lower face, with the top edge starting around Round 15 of the head and the bottom edge ending around Round 21.
Nose and Mouth
- Place a black oval safety nose or embroidered satin-stitch nose at the top center of the muzzle.
- If crocheting the nose, use black yarn: MR, 6 sc, sl st to close, FO, then sew into an oval shape.
- With black embroidery thread, stitch one short vertical line downward from the nose.
- Add a small curved smile under the vertical line using two tiny backstitches.

White Beard Texture
The beard is the most important facial detail for the schnauzer look. It should spread outward from the nose and cover the muzzle sides like soft white whiskers. Use white or ivory yarn cut into short strands.
- Cut 28 strands of white yarn, each about 3 inches long.
- Attach 8 strands on the left side of the muzzle using a lark’s head knot through the crochet stitches.
- Attach 8 strands on the right side of the muzzle in the same way.
- Attach 6 shorter strands directly below the nose.
- Attach 6 strands along the lower muzzle edge.
Brush the strands gently with a small comb or tapestry needle. Trim the beard into a wide fan shape, shorter near the nose and longer toward both cheeks. The finished beard should look fluffy but still neat.
Ears
The ears are rounded, folded, and sewn low on both sides of the head. Use tan beige yarn. Make two.
- Round 1: MR, 6 sc. (6)
- Round 2: Inc around. (12)
- Round 3: Sc 1, inc, repeat 6 times. (18)
- Round 4: Sc 2, inc, repeat 6 times. (24)
- Rounds 5-7: Sc around. (24)
- Round 8: Sc 2, dec, repeat 6 times. (18)
- Round 9: Sc around. (18)
- Round 10: Sc 1, dec, repeat 6 times. (12)
Do not stuff. Flatten each ear. Fold the top edge slightly forward and stitch through the base to hold the folded shape. FO with a long tail.
Sew each ear between Rounds 8 and 14 of the head, about 7 stitches away from the center forehead stripe. Angle the ears downward so they frame the face like soft floppy schnauzer ears.
Small Pink Bow
The pink bow sits near the top left side of the head, close to one ear. Use dusty pink yarn and a 2.00 mm hook.
- In MR: ch 3, 3 dc, ch 3, sl st into ring.
- Repeat: ch 3, 3 dc, ch 3, sl st into ring.
- Pull ring tight and FO with a long tail.
- Wrap the tail around the center 5 times to pinch the bow.
Sew the bow above the left eye and slightly in front of the left ear. Keep it small so it looks like a delicate hair bow rather than a large decoration.
Body
The body is slim and pear-shaped, with a narrow neck, rounded belly, and flat lower section where the legs attach. Use warm cream yarn. The dress will cover most of the body, but the arms, neck, and lower leg connection should remain neat.
- Round 1: MR, 6 sc. (6)
- Round 2: Inc around. (12)
- Round 3: Sc 1, inc, repeat 6 times. (18)
- Round 4: Sc 2, inc, repeat 6 times. (24)
- Round 5: Sc 3, inc, repeat 6 times. (30)
- Round 6: Sc 4, inc, repeat 6 times. (36)
- Rounds 7-11: Sc around. (36)
- Round 12: Sc 4, dec, repeat 6 times. (30)
- Rounds 13-15: Sc around. (30)
- Round 16: Sc 3, dec, repeat 6 times. (24)
- Rounds 17-18: Sc around. (24)
- Round 19: Sc 2, dec, repeat 6 times. (18)
- Rounds 20-21: Sc around. (18)
- Round 22: Sc 1, dec, repeat 6 times. (12)
Stuff the body firmly. Shape it so the lower belly is rounded and the neck is narrow. FO with a long tail for sewing the head later.
Legs
The doll has two long cream legs hanging below the skirt. Make two identical legs. Stuff lightly through the lower half and more firmly near the feet.
- Round 1: With warm cream, MR, 6 sc. (6)
- Round 2: Inc around. (12)
- Round 3: Sc 1, inc, repeat 6 times. (18)
- Round 4: BLO sc around. (18)
- Rounds 5-7: Sc around. (18)
- Round 8: Sc 1, dec, repeat 6 times. (12)
- Rounds 9-28: Sc around. (12)
Stuff the foot and lower leg lightly, keeping the upper leg soft enough to bend naturally when seated. Flatten the top opening.
- Round 29: Sc through both layers across the top to close. (6)
FO with a long sewing tail. Sew the legs to the lower front of the body about 4 stitches apart, angled straight down so they hang over a table edge like in the picture.

Feet and Toes
The feet are rounded, visible through open sandals, and have stitched toe lines. Use warm cream yarn. Make two.

Stuff lightly. FO and sew each foot to the end of one leg, with the toes facing forward. With tan embroidery thread, stitch three vertical toe lines on each foot.
Flower Sandals
The sandals are pale yellow with mint and blue straps, plus tiny flowers on top. Make two soles and straps.
Sandal Sole
- Round 1: With pale yellow, ch 8, sc in second ch from hook, sc 5, 3 sc in last ch. Work on opposite side, sc 5, inc in last st. (16)

- Rounds 3-5: Sc around. (9)
- Round 6: Sc 1, dec, repeat 3 times. (6)
- Rounds 7-20: Sc around. (6)
Stuff only the lower hand lightly. Leave the upper arm unstuffed so it lays flat. Flatten the top and sc through both layers to close. FO with a long tail. Sew arms to the body just below the neck, angled gently downward.
Neck Ruffle Collar
The image shows a soft light collar under the head. Use ivory yarn and attach around the neck after the head and body are joined.
- Ch 25, check fit around neck, and add or remove chains if needed.
- Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and across.
- Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in first st, skip 1 st, 5 dc in next st, skip 1 st, sc in next st, repeat across.
FO and sew around the neck with the scallops facing outward. Keep the collar visible above the dress bodice.
Dress Bodice

- Surface slip stitch a vertical line down the center front of the bodice.
- Make 4 small French knots or tiny yarn knots along the line.
- Keep the buttons close together and subtle.
Upper Mint and Blue Ruffle Skirt
This upper ruffle sits directly below the bodice. It is pale blue with mint scallops and should flare gently around the waist.

Joining the Head and Body
Place the head on the neck opening with the muzzle centered over the body front. The dog should look forward, not upward. Pin the head before sewing to check balance.
- Use the long body tail to sew through the neck stitches and lower head stitches.
- Go around the neck twice for strength.
- Add extra stuffing into the neck before closing the final gap.
- Pull the thread firmly enough to prevent wobbling, but not so tight that the neck wrinkles.
Adding the Dress to the Doll
Dress layers should sit like separate handmade garments rather than one flat tube. Start with the lowest yellow skirt, then the cream floral skirt, then the mint-blue upper ruffle, and finish with the bodice and collar.
- Slide or wrap the lower yellow layer around the lower body and sew in place.
- Attach the cream floral layer slightly higher so its scallop edge overlaps the yellow layer.
- Attach the mint-blue upper ruffle under the bodice line.
- Sew the bodice around the upper body, covering the top seams of the skirt layers.
- Add the neck collar after the bodice is secure.
Facial Shaping
To make the face more expressive, lightly sculpt the eye area with matching cream thread. This step helps the black eyes sit into the head like the image.
- Insert a long needle at the bottom of the head and exit beside the left eye.
- Go over one stitch beside the eye and return to the bottom of the head.
- Pull gently to indent the eye.
- Repeat for the right eye.
- Knot securely and hide the thread inside the head.
Extra Facial Details
- Add two small white yarn highlights beside the black eyes if desired.
- Use tan yarn to make a few short brow stitches above the eyes.
- Trim the beard evenly after all sewing is complete.
- Keep the mouth small and sweet so the face remains gentle.
Flower Placement Guide
The floral details should look handmade and scattered. Use the following guide to match the pictured doll without making the decorations too crowded.
- Left bodice shoulder: 2 pink roses and 1 blue dot flower.
- Right bodice chest: large beige flower brooch with blue center.
- Center bodice: 3 tiny white button knots.
- Upper mint ruffle: 4 pale blue scallop accents.
- Cream skirt front: 3 roses, 2 lavender flowers, 2 yellow knots, and green stems.
- Lower skirt front: 1 pink butterfly and 4 small flower clusters.
- Purse flap: 2 flowers and 1 green leaf.
- Sandals: 1 small flower on each foot.
Pink Butterfly on Skirt
The small pink butterfly near the lower front skirt is made with simple embroidery. Use dusty pink yarn and a fine needle.
- Make two lazy daisy stitches on the left side for wings.
- Make two lazy daisy stitches on the right side for wings.
- With dark rose thread, stitch one short vertical body line between the wings.
- Add two tiny antennae with straight stitches.
Optional Crocheted Eyes
If this doll is for a very young child, replace safety eyes with crocheted eyes. Use black cotton yarn and sew them securely.
- Round 1: With black, MR, 6 sc. (6)
- Round 2: Inc around. (12)
- Sl st to close and FO.
- Add one tiny white stitch for shine.
Sew the eyes between Rounds 14 and 15 of the head, about 10 stitches apart. Use very small stitches around the edge so the circles stay flat.

- Add safety eyes before closing the head.
- Sew on tan face patches and center forehead stripe.
- Crochet, stuff, and sew the muzzle.
- Add nose, mouth, and white beard texture.
- Crochet and sew the ears.

Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
Check the doll from the front before weaving in final ends. The head should be centered, the ears should hang evenly, and the white beard should spread across the muzzle in a soft fan. The eyes must sit above the muzzle with a gentle expression.
Shape the dress by gently pulling each scalloped layer outward. The blue and yellow lower hem should be the widest layer, the cream floral skirt should sit above it, and the mint ruffle should frame the waist.
Place the purse on the dog’s right side and make sure the crossbody strap crosses clearly over the chest. Sew the large beige flower brooch over the strap edge if needed to keep it neat.
Care Notes
- Spot clean the doll with cool water and mild soap.
- Do not soak if the doll has safety eyes, cardboard, plastic canvas, or delicate embroidery.
- Reshape the skirt scallops by hand after cleaning.
- Let the doll air dry flat on a towel.
- Trim beard strands only after the doll is fully dry.

Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
Keep the finished schnauzer amigurumi away from direct sunlight for long periods, especially if you used pastel cotton yarn. Soft pink, pale blue, mint, and yellow shades can fade when displayed near a bright window every day.
For display storage, place the doll upright on a clean shelf and support the skirt lightly with tissue paper if needed. Store the hat, watering can, and flower pot beside the doll so the small pieces do not get lost.
If the beard becomes flattened, separate the strands gently with your fingers or a blunt tapestry needle. Avoid brushing too hard because the muzzle knots can loosen. A light trim can refresh the schnauzer shape after repeated handling.
For long-term storage, wrap the doll in acid-free tissue paper and place it in a breathable cotton bag. Do not compress the ears, flower brooch, purse, or skirt scallops. Keep the accessory pieces in a small labeled pouch with the doll.
