Create a cheerful summer beach bird doll with a large rounded yellow head, bright blue-and-white striped overalls, red beach sandals, a blue shoulder bag, a straw-style sunhat, small beach bucket and shovel, and two tiny white daisies on the headband. This amigurumi design focuses on the exact beach outfit shown: soft yellow body, oversized expressive eyes, orange beak, sailor-style stripes, anchor detail, and playful seaside accessories.
Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.
Pattern Overview
This pattern is written in US crochet terms and is designed as a detailed amigurumi-style doll. The finished piece is made with a large head, smaller narrow body, slim arms, long legs, flat red sandals, a separate blue-and-white overall outfit, and removable-looking beach accessories.
The head is intentionally oversized and rounded, with slightly flattened lower cheeks. The body is much smaller than the head, which gives the doll the same cute cartoon-like proportion as the image. The overalls sit high on the chest, with two blue straps, red buttons, striped shorts, and a red anchor applique on one leg.
Use tight stitches throughout. The stitch texture should be visible but compact, similar to the image. Stuff each part firmly enough to hold shape, but do not overstuff the face or the body because the surface should stay smooth and rounded.

Gauge and Stitch Texture
For this doll, gauge is less important than firmness. Work your stitches tightly so stuffing does not show through. With DK yarn and a 2.25 mm hook, 6 sc across should measure about 1 inch. The head should feel dense, rounded, and smooth.
If your stitches look loose, go down one hook size. If your fabric feels stiff and hard to shape, go up one hook size. The final look should be soft but structured, with clear rows visible like the sample image.
Main Head
The head is the most important shape in this design. It should be large, round at the top, slightly wider at the cheeks, and gently narrowed near the lower face. Use yellow yarn and work in continuous rounds.

Begin stuffing after R24. Shape the head carefully as you stuff. Press the lower sides slightly inward so the cheeks remain full but the chin area becomes narrower. Do not close yet if you prefer sewing the eyes before full stuffing.
- R33: sc 2, dec; repeat around. 18 sts.
- R34: sc 1, dec; repeat around. 12 sts.
- R35: dec around. 6 sts.
FO, leaving a tail. Weave through the remaining front loops and pull closed. The closing point should sit at the bottom center of the head and will be hidden when the neck is attached.
Cheek Shaping
The image shows a soft cheek area and a small center beak. To create the same expression, use a long strand of yellow yarn and a yarn needle to gently sculpt the lower face. Insert the needle from the bottom of the head and bring it out at the left cheek area, around R24.
Pull gently, then insert at the right cheek area around the same round. Repeat once. This creates a mild inward curve under the eyes. Do not pull too tightly. The face should stay soft and rounded, not deeply indented.
Body
The body is small compared with the head. It is worked in yellow first, then the blue overall bib and striped shorts are added over it. Use yellow yarn.
- R1: 6 sc in MR. 6 sts.
- R2: inc around. 12 sts.
- R3: sc 1, inc; repeat around. 18 sts.
- R4: sc 2, inc; repeat around. 24 sts.
- R5: sc 3, inc; repeat around. 30 sts.

- R18: sc around. 20 sts.
- R19: sc 3, dec; repeat around. 16 sts.
- R20: sc around. 16 sts.
Stuff the body firmly at the bottom and lightly near the top. The neck area should remain narrow so the oversized head sits directly above the body. FO with a long tail for sewing.
Neck Support
Because the head is large, create a short firm neck post in yellow. This part helps the head stand upright and keeps the beach doll from looking floppy.
- R1: 8 sc in MR. 8 sts.
- R2-R7: sc around. 8 sts each round.
Stuff firmly. Sew one end to the top opening of the body. Insert the upper half into the lower center of the head and sew around several times. The head should tilt only slightly forward, matching the standing pose in the image.
Legs
Make two legs in yellow. The legs are slim, slightly longer than the body width, and attach under the striped shorts. The feet are shaped wider at the front to fit the red sandals.
First Leg
- R1: 6 sc in MR. 6 sts.
- R2: inc around. 12 sts.
- R3: sc 3, inc; repeat around. 15 sts.
- R4-R7: sc around. 15 sts each round.
- R8: sc 3, dec; repeat around. 12 sts.
- R9-R17: sc around. 12 sts each round.
Stuff lightly. FO the first leg.
Second Leg
- Repeat R1-R17 exactly as the first leg.
- Do not fasten off after R17 if you want to join the legs directly into the shorts. Otherwise, FO and sew both legs separately under the body.
For a cleaner beginner-friendly finish, sew each leg separately to the lower body. Place the legs about 4 stitches apart at the front center. Angle the feet slightly outward to match the relaxed beach pose.
Feet
Make two yellow foot shapes. These are sewn to the bottom of each leg and then covered with red sandal straps.
- R1: ch 6. Starting in second ch from hook, sc 4, 3 sc in last ch. Work on the other side of the chain, sc 3, inc in last st. 12 sts.
- R2: inc, sc 3, inc 3 times, sc 3, inc 2 times. 18 sts.
- R3: sc around. 18 sts.
- R4: sc 5, dec 4 times, sc 5. 14 sts.
- R5: sc around. 14 sts.
Stuff lightly at the toe only. Flatten the back of the foot and sew it to the bottom of the leg. The rounded toe should face forward.
Arms
The arms are long, narrow, and yellow, with slightly rounded hands. Make two.
- R1: 6 sc in MR. 6 sts.
- R2: sc 1, inc; repeat around. 9 sts.
- R3-R5: sc around. 9 sts each round.
- R6: sc 1, dec; repeat around. 6 sts.
- R7-R19: sc around. 6 sts each round.

Stuff the hand section lightly. Leave the upper arm mostly unstuffed so it hangs naturally. FO with a long tail. Sew the arms to the sides of the body just below the neck, angled downward.
Blue Overall Bib
The front bib is bright blue and sits high on the small body. It covers the chest and connects to two straps over the shoulders. Work the bib as a flat panel.
- Row 1: ch 13. Starting in second ch from hook, sc 12. Turn.
- Row 2: ch 1, sc across. 12 sts.
- Row 3: ch 1, inc, sc 10, inc. 14 sts.
- Row 4-7: ch 1, sc across. 14 sts each row.
- Row 8: ch 1, dec, sc 10, dec. 12 sts.
FO and leave a sewing tail. Position the bib on the front upper body. The top edge should sit just below the neck. Sew along the sides and bottom, leaving the top edge neat and flat.
Striped Overall Shorts
The shorts are blue and white horizontal stripes. They sit below the bib and cover the upper legs. The stripe pattern is one round blue, one round white, repeated. Use blue first.
- R1: ch 31, sl st to join into a ring. Be careful not to twist. 30 sts.
- R2: ch 1, sc around in blue. 30 sts.
- R3: change to white, sc around. 30 sts.
- R4: change to blue, sc around. 30 sts.
- R5: change to white, sc around. 30 sts.
- R6: change to blue, sc around. 30 sts.
- R7: change to white, sc around. 30 sts.
- R8: change to blue, sc around. 30 sts.
Now divide for the two leg openings. Count 15 stitches for each leg. Work the first leg opening in joined rounds.
- Short Leg 1 R1: sc 15 in blue, sl st to the first st of this section. 15 sts.
- Short Leg 1 R2: change to white, sc around. 15 sts.
- Short Leg 1 R3: change to blue, sc around. 15 sts.
FO and weave in ends. Attach blue yarn to the remaining 15 stitches and repeat for the second short leg.
Pull the striped shorts gently over the lower body before the legs are fully sewn if possible. If the doll is already assembled, wrap the shorts around the body and seam neatly at the back. Sew the upper edge of the shorts under the bib.
Overall Straps
The straps are narrow blue bands running from the top front bib over the shoulders. Make two.
- Row 1: ch 20.
- Row 2: starting in second ch from hook, sc 19.
FO, leaving tails at both ends. Sew one end to the top left of the bib and the other end to the back waist of the shorts. Repeat on the right side. Keep the straps slightly curved over the shoulders.
Red Overall Buttons
Make two small red crochet buttons or use real buttons. For crochet buttons, use red yarn and a 2.00 mm hook.
- R1: 6 sc in MR, sl st to first sc.
- FO, pull the ring tight, and sew to the top corners of the bib where the straps meet.
Add a tiny white stitch across each button if desired. This creates the button detail visible in the image.
Red Anchor Applique
The small red anchor sits on the lower right side of the striped shorts. Use red yarn and a 2.00 mm hook.
- Center stem: ch 7. Starting in second ch from hook, sl st 6. FO.
- Top loop: ch 5, sl st into the first ch to form a small ring. Sew this to the top of the stem.
- Crossbar: ch 7, sl st across. Sew horizontally across the upper third of the stem.
- Bottom curve: ch 11, hdc in second ch from hook, hdc 2, sc 4, hdc 3. Shape into a shallow curve and sew to the bottom of the stem.
Pin the anchor before sewing. It should sit on the viewer’s right short leg, slightly diagonal, with the curved base pointing upward at both ends.
Eyes
The eyes are large, tall ovals with white outer pieces, blue inner pieces, and black pupils. They are sewn vertically on the front of the face. Make two white ovals first.
White Eye Ovals
- R1: ch 9. Starting in second ch from hook, sc 7, 3 sc in last ch. Work on the other side, sc 6, inc in last st. 18 sts.
- R2: inc, sc 6, inc 3 times, sc 6, inc 2 times. 24 sts.
- R3: sc 1, inc, sc 7, inc, sc 1, inc, sc 1, inc, sc 7, inc, sc 1, inc. 30 sts.
FO with a long white tail. Flatten the oval. The top should be slightly wider and the lower end slightly rounded. Sew the eyes between R17 and R27 of the head, leaving about 5 stitches between them at the narrowest point.
Blue Iris Ovals
- R1: ch 7. Starting in second ch from hook, sc 5, 3 sc in last ch. Work on the other side, sc 4, inc in last st. 14 sts.
- R2: inc, sc 4, inc 3 times, sc 4, inc 2 times. 20 sts.
FO with a long tail. Sew one blue oval centered on each white eye, slightly closer to the lower inner side. This placement matches the sweet forward-looking expression.
Black Pupils
- R1: 6 sc in MR. 6 sts.
- R2: inc around. 12 sts.
FO. Sew each black pupil onto the lower center of the blue iris. Keep both pupils aligned so the doll looks straight ahead.
Black Facial Curves and Lashes
Use black embroidery thread or thin black yarn. The face has curved lines around the sides of the eyes and short lashes near the top outer corners. These details are essential for matching the image.
- Left side face curve: embroider one curved line from R17 down to R24 beside the left eye.
- Right side face curve: repeat beside the right eye.
- Upper lashes: make two short curved stitches above each eye, following the head curve.
- Outer cheek curves: add one longer curved black stitch on each side of the eyes.
📌Thank you for reading the article
Keep all black lines thin. Do not make them too heavy. The image shows delicate facial curves rather than thick outlines.
Orange Beak
The beak is small, oval, and orange. It is centered between the eyes, slightly below the midpoint of the eyes.
- R1: 6 sc in MR. 6 sts.
- R2: sc 1, inc; repeat around. 9 sts.
- R3: sc around. 9 sts.
- R4: sc 1, dec; repeat around. 6 sts.
Stuff with a tiny amount of fiberfill. FO with a long tail. Shape into a soft oval and sew between R25 and R27 of the head. Flatten the back while sewing so the beak projects gently from the face.
Blue Headband
The blue headband curves across the top of the head from one side to the other. It frames the face and sits behind the daisies. Use blue yarn.
- Row 1: ch 45.
- Row 2: starting in second ch from hook, sc 44.
- Row 3: ch 1, sc 44.
FO with a long tail. Pin the band from the left lower side of the head, over the crown, to the right lower side. It should sit behind the top of the eyes and follow the round head shape. Sew down with small stitches.
White Daisy Flowers
Make two daisies. They sit close together on the upper left side of the headband. Use white yarn for petals and yellow yarn for centers.
Flower Center
- With yellow yarn, make 6 sc in MR.
- Sl st to close and FO.
Petals
- Join white yarn to any stitch of the yellow center.
- In the same stitch: ch 3, dc, ch 3, sl st.
- Repeat the petal sequence in each of the remaining 5 stitches.
- FO and weave in ends.
Sew the two flowers onto the left top side of the headband. Place one slightly higher than the other, just like the image. The petals should overlap the blue band slightly.
Red Sandals
The sandals are bright red and wrap around the yellow feet. Each sandal has a sole edge, a front strap, a center toe line, and small flower-like side knots.
Sandal Sole Edge
Make two red sole outlines.
- R1: ch 9. Starting in second ch from hook, sc 7, 3 sc in last ch. Work on the other side, sc 6, inc in last st. 18 sts.
- R2: sc 1, inc, sc 5, inc 3 times, sc 5, inc 2 times. 24 sts.
FO with a long tail. Place the red sole under the yellow foot and sew around the edge. The red should show as a sandal base around the toe and sides.
Front Sandal Strap
- For each foot, ch 15 with red yarn.
- Starting in second ch from hook, sc 14.
Sew the strap across the front of the foot, about one-third back from the toe. Curve the strap over the top of the foot and secure both ends under the sole edge.
Toe Divider
- Ch 6 with red yarn.
- Sl st 5 back along the chain.
Sew one toe divider from the front center of the sandal to the middle of the strap. Add one small vertical red stitch on the yellow toe to create the separated toe detail.
Small Sandal Flowers
- In red yarn, make 5 sc in MR.
- Sl st to close and FO.
- Make four tiny yellow straight stitches over each red circle if you want the little flower centers shown on the sandal straps.
Sew one tiny flower on the outer side of each sandal strap. The decorative flower should sit near the side edge, not in the center.
Blue-and-White Shoulder Bag
The shoulder bag is small, square, striped blue and white, with a long blue strap and a red button on the front. It hangs beside the doll on the right side.
Bag Front Panel

- R5: flatten and sc through both layers for 6 sts.
Sew the flattened edge of the scoop to the bottom of the handle. Shape the scoop into a small oval paddle.
Head-to-Body Assembly
Place the body under the head so the head is centered and balanced. The face should look forward, and the body should sit directly below the beak. Pin before sewing.
- Sew the neck post firmly to the body first.
- Place the head over the neck post.
- Use yellow yarn to sew around the head base several times.
- Check that the doll can sit or stand with support.
- Add extra stitches at the back of the neck for stability.
The head should not wobble. The oversized head is part of the design, so firm stitching is necessary. Keep the seam hidden behind the lower head and upper chest.
Adding the Outfit
Dress the doll in the striped shorts and blue bib before sewing the arms if you want easier placement. The blue bib should cover the center chest. The shorts should sit snugly at the waist and cover the top of each leg.
- Sew the shorts at the back seam if needed.
- Sew the top of the shorts to the yellow body using small hidden stitches.
- Sew the bib to the front only.
- Attach the straps over the shoulders and secure them at the back waist.
- Sew red buttons over the front strap ends.
- Sew the red anchor to the lower right short leg.
Facial Placement Guide
Place the eyes first because all other face details depend on them. The white eye ovals should be tall and close together. The inner blue ovals should sit inside the whites, with the black pupils placed low and centered.
- Eye top: around R16 to R17 of the head.
- Eye bottom: around R27 to R28 of the head.
- Distance between eyes: about 5 stitches at the narrow center.
- Beak center: between the eyes, around R25 to R27.
- Black curves: along the outer sides of the eyes.
- Headband: across the crown, behind the daisies.
Use pins before sewing. Step back and check the expression from the front. Small changes in eye angle can change the entire look, so take your time here.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
Attach the arms after the overalls are in place. Sew each arm to the side of the upper body, slightly below the shoulder line. Angle the arms downward, with the hands pointing toward the legs.
Sew the legs under the shorts with the feet facing forward. The sandals should be visible from the front. If the doll leans forward, add more stuffing to the lower body and press the feet flat.
Add the blue headband across the top of the head. Sew the two white daisies on the upper left side. Place the larger-looking daisy slightly toward the front and the second one slightly behind it.
Position the shoulder bag at the doll’s right side. The strap can cross the shoulder or rest beside the doll as an accessory. Place the sunhat, bucket, and shovel near the doll to create the full summer beach scene.
Care Notes
- Spot clean only with a damp cloth.
- Do not machine wash if buttons or small sewn details are attached.
- Keep the doll away from rough surfaces that may pull the stitches.
- Reshape the head and brim of the hat gently by hand after cleaning.
- Allow all pieces to air dry completely before storage.
Quick Checklist Before You Finish
- The head is large, round, and securely attached.
- The eyes are tall white ovals with blue irises and black pupils.
- The orange beak is centered below the eyes.
- The black facial curves are thin and symmetrical.
- The blue headband crosses the top of the head.
- Two white daisies sit on the upper left side.
- The overalls have blue and white stripes.
- The red buttons and red anchor are attached clearly.
- The red sandals include front straps and toe dividers.
- The bag, hat, bucket, and shovel are finished as separate beach accessories.
Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
To preserve the shape, clean the doll gently by hand. Use cool water on a soft cloth and dab the stained area. Avoid rubbing the eyes, anchor, flowers, or embroidered facial lines because these details can shift if handled roughly.
If the doll becomes dusty, use a clean dry brush with soft bristles. Brush lightly in the direction of the stitches. For the hat brim and bag, press them flat with your fingers after brushing so they keep their neat beach accessory shape.
Store the doll in a dry place away from direct sunlight. Bright yellow, blue, and red yarns can fade if left near a window for long periods. Keep the accessories together in a small fabric bag so the bucket, shovel, and sunhat are not misplaced.
When displaying the doll, support the head from behind or let the doll lean slightly against a soft background. The oversized head is part of the design, and gentle support will help the neck seam stay strong over time.

Helpful Finishing Tips
- Use matching yarn tails for sewing so the seams disappear into the crochet fabric.
- For a smoother face, sew the eyes before the head is completely closed.
- For a cleaner outfit, sew the striped shorts at the back where the seam is less visible.
- For stronger sandals, sew through both the red strap and the yellow foot several times.
- For a more realistic beach set, keep the hat, bucket, and shovel slightly smaller than the doll’s head.
Your Summer Beach Tweety Bird crochet doll is now complete, with its bright yellow body, expressive face, striped sailor-style overalls, red sandals, flower headband, and tiny beach accessories. The finished piece should look cheerful, playful, and ready for a sunny day by the sea.
