Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

Pattern Overview

This pattern is written in US crochet terms and is designed to create a soft seated puppy doll with detailed clothing and accessories. The finished puppy is worked in separate shaped pieces, then assembled carefully so the head sits upright, the ears hang naturally, and the legs dangle over a table edge like the image.

The body is crocheted in a firm amigurumi style with tight stitches and full stuffing. The overalls are built directly around the body and legs for a fitted look, while the floral details are embroidered after the main crochet pieces are complete.

  • Finished size: about 12 to 13.5 inches tall when seated, depending on yarn tension.
  • Skill level: confident beginner to intermediate.
  • Construction: head, body, muzzle, ears, arms, legs, overalls, sandals, purse, hat, watering can, basket, flowers.
  • Main colors: tan, cream, denim blue, straw beige, brown, white, yellow, pink, green, gray.

Materials

  • Worsted weight cotton or cotton-acrylic yarn in tan for the puppy head, ears, upper legs, and arms.
  • Worsted weight yarn in cream for the face stripe, muzzle, neck, forearms, lower legs, and paws.
  • Worsted weight yarn in denim blue for the overalls, purse, sandals, and hat ribbon.
  • Worsted weight yarn in straw beige for the hat, purse trim, basket, and sandal soles.
  • Small amounts of white, yellow, coral pink, green, salmon pink, red, dark brown, gray, and berry colors.
  • 3.0 mm crochet hook for the puppy and main clothing.
  • 2.5 mm crochet hook for flowers, purse details, and tiny accessories.
  • 10 mm black safety eyes or glossy black sew-on eyes.
  • Fiberfill stuffing.
  • Two small tan buttons for the overall straps.
  • One small decorative button for the purse flap.
  • Yarn needle, stitch markers, pins, scissors.
  • Black or dark brown embroidery thread for mouth details.

Gauge and Stitch Texture

Use a tight amigurumi gauge so the stuffing does not show. With worsted weight yarn and a 3.0 mm hook, 6 sc rounds should measure about 1 inch in height, and 6 sc stitches should measure about 1 inch across. The stitches should look compact, rounded, and slightly raised, matching the plush texture in the image.

If your stitches are loose, change to a smaller hook. If your doll becomes too stiff to shape, use a slightly larger hook only for the overalls, hat, and purse. The puppy itself should stay firm enough to hold the sitting pose.

Color Placement Notes

The puppy has a cream center face stripe running from the top of the head down into the muzzle area. To make this simple and clean, the head is crocheted mostly in tan, then the cream face stripe is added as a separate shaped panel and sewn smoothly down the front.

The muzzle is a separate cream oval attached over the lower face. This gives the puppy the raised snout visible in the image. The long ears are tan and slightly flattened so they hang beside the face, ending near the shoulders.

Head

Use tan yarn and the 3.0 mm hook. Stuff firmly as you work. The head should be round, wide, and slightly taller than the body.

Stuff the head very firmly, especially around the cheeks. The face should remain rounded, not flat. FO with a long tail for sewing the head to the neck and body later.

Cream Face Stripe

Use cream yarn. This stripe is sewn on top of the tan head to create the bright vertical marking seen in the image. Keep your stitches even and pin the stripe before sewing.

  1. Ch 7.
  2. Row 1: sc in the second ch from hook and across. 6 sts.
  3. Row 2: ch 1, turn, sc across. 6 sts.
  4. Row 3: ch 1, turn, dec, sc 2, dec. 4 sts.

  8. Row 12: ch 1, turn, inc, sc 4, inc. 8 sts.
  9. Row 13: ch 1, turn, sc across. 8 sts.

FO with a long tail. Place the narrow end at the top center of the head and the wider end just behind the muzzle position. Sew with small whipstitches through the edge loops. The stripe should curve smoothly down the face without puckering.

Muzzle

Use cream yarn. Stuff the muzzle lightly so it sits raised but not bulky.

  1. Rnd 1: ch 7, sc in the second ch from hook, sc 4, 3 sc in last ch. Work on the other side of the chain: sc 4, inc in last ch. 14 sts.
  2. Rnd 2: inc, sc 4, inc 3 times, sc 4, inc 2 times. 20 sts.

  4. Rnd 4: sc around. 26 sts.
  5. Rnd 5: sc 11, dec, dec, sc 11. 24 sts.

FO with a long tail. Pin the muzzle across Rnds 17 to 22 of the head, centered over the lower part of the cream stripe. Sew around the edge, adding a small amount of stuffing before closing completely.

Nose, Mouth, and Tongue

Use dark brown yarn or embroidery thread for the nose. Embroider a rounded triangular nose at the top center of the muzzle, about 5 stitches wide and 4 stitches tall. Fill it with horizontal satin stitches until it looks smooth and raised.

  • From the bottom point of the nose, stitch one vertical line down for 3 rows.
  • Make a soft curved smile to the left and right using dark brown thread.
  • For the tongue, use coral pink yarn and make 4 sc in MR, then do not join.
  • Pull the tiny half-circle flat and sew it under the mouth center.

The tongue should be small and visible, not oversized. Place it just below the smile so the puppy looks cheerful like the image.

Floppy Ears

Make 2 with tan yarn. Do not stuff. The ears are long, soft, and rounded at the bottom. They hang on both sides of the head, starting beside the eyes and ending near the upper arms.

  1. Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR. 6 sts.
  2. Rnd 2: sc 1, inc, repeat around. 9 sts.
  3. Rnd 3: sc 2, inc, repeat around. 12 sts.

  9. Rnd 21: sc 3, dec, repeat around. 12 sts.
  10. Rnd 22 to Rnd 25: sc around. 12 sts for each round.

Flatten the opening. Sc through both layers across the top with 6 sc. FO with a long tail. Sew each ear to the side of the head between Rnds 11 and 15. Angle the front edge slightly forward so the ears frame the face naturally.

Body

The body is cream at the neck and upper chest, with the blue overalls sitting over the lower body. Work the main body in cream first, then add the fitted overalls over it.

  1. Rnd 1: With cream, 6 sc in MR. 6 sts.
  2. Rnd 2: inc around. 12 sts.
  3. Rnd 3: sc 1, inc, repeat around. 18 sts.

Stuff the body firmly but keep the bottom slightly flat so the puppy can sit. FO with a long tail. The narrow top will become the neck area that supports the large head.

Legs and Feet

Make 2. Each leg begins with a rounded cream foot and changes to cream lower leg, tan upper leg, then blue overall shorts. Stuff the foot and leg firmly enough to hold shape, but leave the upper part slightly flexible for the seated pose.

Foot and Leg

  12. Rnd 23: sc 6, inc, sc 7. 15 sts.
  13. Rnd 24 to Rnd 28: sc around. 15 sts for each round.

FO on the first leg. Do not FO on the second leg if you prefer joining the legs directly to begin the lower body. For this design, the legs can also be sewn to the body front after the overalls are finished, giving more control over the seated position.

Toe Indent Details

Use cream yarn and a needle to make three toe grooves on each foot. Insert the needle from the sole to the front top of the foot, wrap over one stitch column, and pull gently. Repeat twice more. The toes should look rounded like the image.

Arms

Make 2. The arms are tan at the top and cream at the lower paw, with a soft mitten shape. They hang straight down beside the overalls.

Stuff the paw firmly and the upper arm lightly. Flatten the top and sc through both layers with 6 sc. FO with a long tail. Sew the arms to the upper sides of the body at Rnds 23 to 25, angled slightly forward.

Blue Garden Overalls

The overalls are the most visible clothing detail. They include a blue bib, cream and blue striped shorts, shoulder straps, buttons, and floral embroidery across the front. Use denim blue and cream yarn.

Overall Shorts Base

Make one shorts tube around the lower body. You may crochet it separately and slide it onto the body before sewing the legs, or work it directly onto the body if you are comfortable with fitted clothing.

  1. With denim blue, ch 44. Join with sl st, being careful not to twist.
  2. Rnd 1: ch 1, sc around. 44 sts.
  3. Rnd 2: sc around. 44 sts.

  13. Rnd 9: sc around. 44 sts.
  14. Change to denim blue.
  15. Rnd 10: sc around. 44 sts.

Divide for leg openings. Count 22 stitches for the first leg and 22 stitches for the second leg. Use stitch markers to divide evenly.

  4. Rnd 4: sc around. 20 sts.
  5. Rnd 5: work crab stitch or reverse sc around for a firm cuff. 20 sts.

FO and weave in the end. Repeat the same instructions for the second shorts leg. The blue cuffs should sit above the cream legs and match the image.

Overall Bib

Attach denim blue yarn to the front center top edge of the shorts. The bib should cover the puppy’s chest and stop below the neck.

  1. Row 1: sc 16 stitches across the front top edge. 16 sts.
  2. Row 2: ch 1, turn, sc across. 16 sts.
  3. Row 3: ch 1, turn, dec, sc 12, dec. 14 sts.

Shoulder Straps

Make 2 with denim blue yarn. Each strap crosses from the top of the bib over the shoulder and attaches to the back waistband.

  1. Ch 23.
  2. Row 1: sc in the second ch from hook and across. 22 sts.
  3. Row 2: ch 1, turn, sc across. 22 sts.

FO with a sewing tail. Sew one end of each strap to the top corners of the bib. Cross them lightly over the shoulders or keep them straight depending on your body width. Sew the back ends to the rear waistband. Add one tan button at each front strap base.

Floral Embroidery on Overalls

The bib has small garden flowers across the front. Use embroidery yarn or split worsted yarn into thinner strands. Keep the flowers low and centered so they match the image.

  • Center peach flower: make 6 straight stitches radiating from one center point. Add a yellow knot in the middle.
  • White daisies: add 5 short white lazy-daisy stitches on each side of the center flower.
  • Pink flowers: add small X-shaped stitches near the lower corners of the bib.
  • Green stems: use vertical straight stitches about 2 rounds tall.
  • Leaves: use tiny diagonal green stitches on both sides of each stem.

On the shorts legs, embroider a small patch of grass and flowers on the lower front of one leg. Use three green stems, two pink blossoms, and one red blossom. Keep the embroidery neat and flat so it does not overpower the small garment.

Crossbody Purse

The purse is round, cream-trimmed, blue-centered, and worn from the puppy’s shoulder to the opposite hip. It sits on the front right side of the overalls in the image.

Purse Body

  1. Rnd 1: With denim blue, 6 sc in MR. 6 sts.

Purse Strap

  1. With straw beige, ch 70.
  2. Row 1: sc in the second ch from hook and across. 69 sts.

FO with long tails. Sew one end of the strap to each side of the purse. Place the strap diagonally across the puppy from the left shoulder to the right hip. Tack it lightly to the body at the shoulder and side seam so it stays in position.

Blue Sandals With Daisy Accents

The sandals have straw beige soles, blue straps across the top of the feet, and white daisies on the outer sides. Make 2 soles and 2 blue straps.

  2. Rnd 2: sc around. 5 sts.
  3. FO and close tightly.

Place the berries inside the basket and tack them down with matching yarn. Vary the colors so the basket looks full and bright.

Joining the Puppy

Before sewing, pin every piece in place. The puppy should sit upright with the large head centered over the body. The legs should hang forward from the lower body, and the arms should rest at the sides of the overalls.

  1. Sew the body to the head first. Use the long body or head tail and stitch around the neck twice for strength.
  2. Check the face from the front. The cream stripe should be centered between the eyes and muzzle.
  3. Sew the ears to the sides of the head. The top of each ear should sit slightly behind the eye line.
  4. Sew the arms to the upper body, just under the head, allowing them to hang straight down.
  5. Sew the legs to the lower front of the body, spacing them evenly so the puppy can sit.
  6. Slide or position the overalls around the body and legs. Stitch the waistband invisibly to the body in a few hidden places.
  7. Attach the bib, straps, and buttons after the shorts sit correctly.
  8. Place the purse strap diagonally across the chest and tack it to the shoulder and side.

Take your time with this stage. The final look depends on careful placement more than speed. Use pins, step back, and view the puppy from the front, side, and top before making permanent stitches.

Final Assembly and Facial Detailing

After all main pieces are attached, refine the puppy’s expression. Add a small highlight stitch with white embroidery thread beside each eye if you are using sew-on eyes. This gives the glossy, bright-eyed look shown in the image.

  • Brush the muzzle gently with your fingers so the stitches sit evenly.
  • Reinforce the nose with extra dark brown stitches if it looks too flat.
  • Adjust the tongue so it peeks out from the center of the smile.
  • Sew the head daisy securely near the left ear with two green leaves behind it.
  • Check that both ears hang at the same height and curve softly inward.
  • Make sure the sandals sit flat under the feet and the daisies face outward.

For the overalls, add final flower embroidery only after assembly. This helps you place each flower where it will be visible from the front. Keep the stitches small, colorful, and balanced, with the largest flower in the center of the bib.

Care Notes

This puppy is best used as a decorative handmade item. Because it has small buttons, embroidered details, and tiny accessories, it is not suitable for children under 3 years old unless all small pieces are embroidered instead of sewn on.

  • Spot clean with cool water and mild soap.
  • Do not wring or twist the doll.
  • Press gently with a towel to remove excess moisture.
  • Reshape the ears, hat brim, purse, and sandals while damp.
  • Let the doll air dry completely before storing.

Quick Checklist Before You Finish

  • The head is round, firm, and centered on the body.
  • The cream face stripe runs straight from the forehead to the muzzle.
  • The eyes are even and placed above the muzzle.
  • The nose is dark brown, rounded, and raised.
  • The tongue is small and centered below the smile.
  • The ears hang long and softly on both sides of the head.
  • The blue overalls include cream stripes, front bib, straps, and two buttons.
  • The floral embroidery is visible across the bib and shorts.
  • The purse crosses from shoulder to hip and sits on the front side.
  • The sandals have blue straps, beige soles, and white daisy accents.
  • The sun hat has a wide brim and blue ribbon.
  • The watering can and berry basket are small enough to sit beside the puppy.

Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines

To preserve the shape, store the puppy sitting upright rather than folded or pressed under other items. Keep the ears flat and untwisted, and place tissue paper inside the hat brim if you want the brim to remain wide and smooth.

Avoid direct sunlight for long periods because blue, pink, and green embroidery colors may fade. If displaying the puppy near a window, rotate it occasionally so one side does not fade faster than the other.

For dust removal, use a soft makeup brush or clean paintbrush. Brush gently over the face, ears, overalls, purse, and flowers. Do not pull on the embroidered stems or petals.

If the purse strap, sandal straps, or hat ribbon become loose, reattach them with matching yarn and small hidden stitches. Keep all decorative buttons checked and secure, especially if the doll is handled often.

With careful shaping, firm stitching, and neat embroidery, your Daisy Garden Puppy will keep the same sweet garden style as the image: a floppy-eared puppy in blue floral overalls, ready for a sunny day among daisies, berries, and handmade crochet accessories.
