Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.
Pattern Overview
This pattern is written in US crochet terms. The doll is made in several separate pieces: head, body, arms, legs, shoes, butterfly hood, antennae, wings, dress layers, apron, shoulder bag, hat, and floral appliqués. The pieces are sewn together after crocheting so the final doll sits naturally with long legs and rounded butterfly wings behind the body.
The pictured doll has a large round head, small black eyes, a soft oval face, a pink hood that frames the forehead with a sage-green wavy trim, and two tall antennae. The body is slim and childlike, while the skirt is full and layered. The wings are wide, rounded, and slightly raised behind the shoulders.
Finished Size
- Total height: about 12.5 inches from antenna tips to shoe soles.
- Seated height: about 9 inches from antenna tips to skirt edge.
- Head width: about 3.5 inches.

Gauge
Using a 2.25 mm hook and sport weight cotton yarn, 6 sc and 6 rounds should measure about 1 inch. Gauge is important because the hood, dress, and shoes need to fit the doll body neatly. If your stitches are loose, use a smaller hook. If your fabric is too stiff, use a slightly larger hook.
General Notes
- Work most amigurumi parts in continuous spirals unless the pattern says to join.
- Use a stitch marker to mark the first stitch of every round.
- Stuff the head firmly, but do not overstuff the arms, legs, and antennae.
- Stuff the body firmly at the neck and hips so the doll can sit without collapsing.
- When sewing flat pieces like wings and apron panels, use matching yarn and small whip stitches.
- Leave long yarn tails on pieces that will be sewn to the doll.

Head
Use cream yarn. The head is round with a soft cheek area and a slightly smaller lower face. The pink butterfly hood will cover the back and top of the head, so keep the face smooth and clean.

Insert safety eyes between Rnds 13 and 14, about 10 stitches apart. Place them slightly low and wide so the face looks gentle. If using beads instead of safety eyes, sew them on after stuffing.
- Rnd 21: sc 4, dec, repeat around. 30 sts
- Rnd 22: sc 3, dec, repeat around. 24 sts
Begin stuffing the head firmly. Shape the cheeks with your fingers as you stuff. The face should be smooth and rounded, with the chin slightly tucked.

- Rnd 24: sc 1, dec, repeat around. 12 sts
- Rnd 25: dec around. 6 sts
Fasten off and close the hole neatly. Weave in the yarn tail. Add a tiny stitched nose if desired by making 2 short horizontal stitches with cream or very pale pink yarn between the eyes, one round lower than the eye line.
Soft Face Blush
Use a very small amount of pink blush powder or textile crayon. Place blush just below each eye, blending outward in a soft circle. Keep it light so the doll keeps the sweet pastel look shown in the image.
Body
Use pale blush pink for the lower body base. The body will be mostly covered by the pink bodice and cream skirt, but the shape underneath keeps the doll balanced and seated.

Stuff the body firmly, especially around the lower body and neck. Leave a long tail for sewing. The body should be narrow at the neck and rounded at the hips.
Neck Stabilizer
To keep the large head from wobbling, make a small neck stabilizer. Use cream yarn or pale blush pink.
- Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR. 6 sts
- Rnd 2: inc around. 12 sts
- Rnd 3-6: sc around. 12 sts
Stuff firmly. Sew the stabilizer into the top of the body before attaching the head. This creates a strong base under the head.
Legs
Make 2 legs using pale blush pink yarn. The legs in the image are long, slim, and slightly dangling from under the skirt.
- Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR. 6 sts
- Rnd 2: sc 1, inc, repeat around. 9 sts
- Rnd 3: sc 2, inc, repeat around. 12 sts

Stuff lightly as you go. The legs should remain soft enough to bend naturally over the edge of a table or shelf.
- Rnd 26: flatten the top and crochet through both layers with 6 sc.
Fasten off and leave a long tail. Sew the legs to the lower front of the body, about 5 stitches apart. Angle them slightly forward so the doll sits like the photo.
Pink Mary Jane Shoes
Make 2 shoes using pink yarn. The shoes are rounded with a cream toe patch, a little side button, and a small flower on top.

Pink Bodice
The pink bodice sits over the body like a fitted top. It has a simple textured look and supports the ruffled sleeves and skirt.

Fasten off. The cream scallops should sit above the pink scallops so both layers are visible. Do not pull the cream layer too tight; it should flare softly.
Floral Embroidery on Skirt
Use rose pink, soft pink, sage green, and cream yarn. Embroider a curved vine across the front of the cream skirt. Keep the stitches light so the skirt does not become stiff.
- Make 6 small green lazy-daisy leaf stitches across the lower front of the skirt.
- Make 5 tiny rose knots between the leaves.
- Add 3 small pink flowers by stitching 5 short petals around a center point.
- Place the largest flower slightly to one side, like the image.
- Keep all embroidery above the scalloped hem so the edge remains clean.

Bag Flowers
Make 3 tiny flowers for the flap. For each flower, use pink yarn and make 5 sc in MR. Sl st to close. Work ch 2, sl st in next st, repeat 5 times. Add a darker rose stitch in the center. Sew the flowers across the bag flap.
Butterfly Hood
The hood is pink and covers the top and back of the head. It leaves the cream face open in a rounded oval. The front edge has a sage-green wavy trim, creating the scalloped butterfly cap shape shown in the image.
Use soft pink yarn. Work the crown in continuous rounds first.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Place the hood over the head. The open section should frame the face from one cheek, across the forehead, and down to the other cheek. Pin before sewing. Sew only along the back edge and side edges so the face remains smooth.
Sage-Green Wavy Hood Trim
Attach sage-green yarn at one lower side of the face opening.
- Trim Round: sc 2, hdc, dc, hdc, sc 2, repeat along the entire face opening. At the top center of the forehead, make one taller wave by working hdc, dc, tr, dc, hdc into 5 consecutive stitches.
Fasten off and weave in ends. The trim should look like a gentle scalloped line across the front of the pink hood.
Antennae
Make 2 antennae using sage-green yarn. Each antenna has a rounded bulb at the top and a narrow stem. The finished pieces should curve outward slightly.

Joining the Wings
Place the two wing sides behind the body. The top inner corners should meet behind the shoulders, and the lower lobes should sit behind the skirt. Sew the inner edges together with pink yarn, then sew the joined center line to the back of the body and bodice.
Do not sew the outer wing edges to the body. They should remain free and slightly lifted. Use extra stitches near the shoulder area so the wings do not droop.

- With pink yarn, sew a tiny 5-petal flower on one end.
This piece can be placed beside the hat or sewn to the bag if you prefer fewer loose accessories.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
- Sew the head securely to the body, using the neck stabilizer inside the join. Add extra stitches around the back of the neck.
- Slide the pink bodice onto the body and sew it in place if it shifts.
- Attach the pink underskirt first, then the cream skirt overlay, and finally the cream apron panel at the front waist.
- Sew the legs under the skirt at the lower front of the body. Keep them evenly spaced and angled downward.
- Sew the arms to the upper sides of the body. The hands should rest near the skirt and bag.
- Place the hood on the head and sew around the back and side edges. Keep the front face opening smooth.
- Sew the antennae to the top of the hood. Check that both lean outward evenly.
- Sew the wing pair to the back of the body. Use firm stitches along the center back and shoulder area.
- Place the shoulder bag across the body. Sew the strap lightly at the shoulder and hip so it stays in position.
- Add the hood flowers, shoe flowers, bag flowers, and skirt embroidery last.
For the face, add a very small blush area under each eye. Keep the expression simple. The charm of this doll comes from the round face, tiny eyes, soft cheeks, and pastel butterfly costume.
Care Notes
- Spot clean the doll with cool water and mild soap.
- Do not soak if you used safety eyes, buttons, blush, or embroidered details.
- Reshape the wings, antennae, hat brim, and skirt while damp.

Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
For regular care, remove dust with a soft brush or clean dry cloth. Brush lightly over the wings, skirt scallops, flowers, and hat brim so the small details do not stretch.
If the doll needs cleaning, dampen a cloth with cool water and a tiny amount of mild soap. Pat the dirty area gently. Avoid rubbing the face, blush, flower embroidery, and safety eye area.
After cleaning, press the doll gently in a towel to remove extra moisture. Do not twist or wring the crochet fabric. Shape the antennae, wings, sleeves, skirt, apron, bag, and shoes before drying.
Store the doll in a dry place. If keeping it for display, support the wings from behind so they stay open. Place the hat and loose flowers beside the doll after everything is fully dry.
This finished Pink Butterfly Girl Amigurumi is best displayed as a decorative handmade piece. With careful sewing, gentle stuffing, and clean floral details, the final doll will match the soft garden butterfly look shown in the reference image.
