This adorable crochet garden helper is made with a soft lime-green plush body, oversized rounded head, wide pointed ears, glossy safety eyes, pink cheek details, blue denim-style overalls, striped green-and-white shirt sleeves, tiny sandals, a straw sun hat, a pea-pod crossbody bag, flower embroidery, and miniature garden accessories. The finished doll has a sweet sitting pose with short legs, rounded arms, and a gentle handmade garden theme.
Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.
Finished Size
- Main doll: About 11–12 inches tall when made with plush yarn and a 4.0 mm hook.

Gauge Notes
Gauge is not extremely strict for this doll, but tight stitches are important. With plush yarn and a 4.0 mm hook, 6 sc rounds should measure about 2 inches across when worked in continuous rounds. The fabric should be firm enough that stuffing does not show through.
For the cotton outfit and accessories, use a hook small enough to make the fabric neat and structured. The blue overalls should fit snugly over the body without hiding the rounded belly shape. The tiny accessories should feel firm, not floppy.
Important Construction Notes
- Work the plush green doll pieces in continuous rounds unless the pattern says otherwise.
- Use a stitch marker at the first stitch of every round.
- Stuff the head firmly, because the large head is the focal point of the design.
- Stuff the body medium-firm so it stays soft and slightly rounded.
- Stuff the arms and legs lightly at the top so they can sit naturally.
- Shape the ears flat and attach them at an upward angle.
- The overalls are crocheted separately and fitted onto the finished doll before final strap sewing.
Head
The head is large, round, and slightly wider than tall, with the eyes placed low enough to create a soft baby-like expression. Use bright lime-green plush yarn and the 4.0 mm hook.

Insert safety eyes between Rnds 17 and 18, about 14 stitches apart. The eyes should sit slightly forward and low on the face. Check from the front before locking the washers, because the expression depends on even spacing.

- Rnd 32: sc 1, dec; repeat around. (12)

FO, leaving a long tail. Close the opening through the front loops of the final 6 stitches and pull tight. Weave in securely.
Subtle Face Shaping
Use matching lime-green yarn and a long needle to create gentle eye shaping. Insert the needle at the bottom of the head, come out beside the right eye, go across to the inner side of the same eye, return to the bottom, and pull gently. Repeat for the left eye.
- Do not pull too tightly; the cheeks should look soft and rounded.
- Make two shaping passes per eye only.
- Knot securely at the bottom of the head where it will be hidden by the body.
Small Nose and Pink Cheek Details
The face in the photo has a tiny pale nose and small soft pink cheek marks under the eyes. Use a very small amount of pale pink or cream yarn for the nose.
Nose
- With pale pink yarn and a 2.25 mm hook, ch 4.
- Rnd 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc 1, 3 sc in last ch, work on opposite side, sc 1, inc. (8)
- FO with a long tail.
Sew the nose between the eyes, centered about 2 rounds below the eye line. Keep it tiny and oval. Add only a small amount of stuffing if needed, but a flat sewn nose works best for this soft expression.
Cheeks
- With pink embroidery thread, sew 3 short diagonal stitches under each eye.
- Place each cheek about 1 round below the eye and slightly toward the outside.
- Keep the stitches short, soft, and pale so they do not overpower the face.
Large Pointed Ears
The ears are wide at the base, pointed at the tips, and stand out to each side at a slight upward angle. Make 2 with lime-green plush yarn and the 4.0 mm hook.

- Rnd 12: sc 8, inc; repeat around. (20)
- Rnds 13–14: sc around. (20)
Flatten the ear so the tip points outward. Do not stuff. The plush yarn gives enough thickness. Fold the base slightly in half and sew through both layers with 9 sc across the opening. FO with a long tail.
Ear Placement
- Pin each ear between Rnds 14 and 20 of the head.
- The ear base should angle upward from the side of the head.
- The tip should point slightly upward, not straight sideways.
- Sew around the base twice for strength.
Body
The body is shorter than the head and shaped like a soft rounded torso. The overalls will cover most of it, so focus on making a stable base that supports the large head. Use lime-green plush yarn and the 4.0 mm hook.

Stuff the body firmly at the bottom and medium-firm near the neck. FO with a long tail for sewing to the head. The neck opening should be small enough to tuck under the head but strong enough to hold the weight.
Legs
The legs are short, rounded, and slightly bent outward under the blue overalls. Make 2 with lime-green plush yarn and the 4.0 mm hook.
- Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR. (6)

- Rnd 12: sc around. (12)
Stuff the foot and lower leg firmly, but leave the top lightly stuffed. Flatten the top opening and sc 6 through both layers. FO with a long tail. Attach the legs to the lower front of the body between Rnds 4 and 7, angled outward so the doll sits naturally.
Arms
The arms are soft, rounded tubes with no separate fingers. They sit below the striped sleeves and angle slightly downward. Make 2 with lime-green plush yarn and the 4.0 mm hook.
- Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR. (6)
- Rnd 2: inc around. (12)
- Rnd 3: sc 3, inc; repeat around. (15)
- Rnds 4–9: sc around. (15)
- Rnd 10: sc 3, dec; repeat around. (12)
- Rnds 11–12: sc around. (12)
Stuff the hand and lower arm softly. Flatten the top and sc 6 through both layers. FO with a long tail. The arms will be attached after the shirt sleeves are made so the sleeve edges sit neatly at the shoulder.
Green-and-White Striped Shirt Sleeve Cuffs
The photo shows short sleeves with alternating white and green stripes under the overalls. These sleeves are crocheted as small tubes and slipped over the upper arms before sewing the arms to the body. Make 2 with worsted yarn and a 3.0 mm hook.
- With white yarn, ch 18, sl st to join into a ring. Be careful not to twist.

FO and weave in ends. Slide one sleeve over each arm so the sleeve sits near the flattened top. Sew the top edge of the sleeve to the body shoulder area when attaching the arm.
Neck Collar Band
The green-and-white striped collar peeks above the overalls and sits around the neck under the head. Use the 3.0 mm hook.
- With green yarn, ch 32.

- Row 4: ch 1, turn, sc across with white yarn. (31)
FO, leaving a long tail. Wrap the collar around the upper body just below the head. The opening should meet at the back. Sew the short ends together, then tack the collar to the body with small hidden stitches.
Blue Overalls Body Piece
The overalls are bright denim blue and cover the body from the chest to the legs. They have a bib front, two straps, short pants legs, button details, and embroidered flowers. Use worsted cotton yarn in denim blue and a 3.0 mm hook.

- Row 5: ch 1, turn, dec, sc 10, dec. (12)
- Rows 6–8: ch 1, turn, sc across. (12)
FO and weave in. The bib should sit centered on the belly and reach just below the collar. When fitted, it should not cover the entire shirt collar.
Overall Straps
Make 2 straps. Use blue yarn and a 3.0 mm hook.
- Row 1: ch 24.
- Row 2: sc in 2nd ch from hook and across. (23)
- Row 3: ch 1, turn, sc across. (23)
FO with a long tail. Sew each strap to the back waistband, cross or angle it gently over the shoulder, and bring it to the front bib. Sew one small tan button at the lower front end of each strap, matching the photo.
Fitting the Overalls
- Slide the overalls onto the body from the feet upward before attaching the head if that is easier.
- The bib should face forward and sit smoothly over the belly.
- The leg cuffs should stop just above the green feet.
- Secure the waistband to the body with a few hidden stitches so it does not slide.
Small Sunflower Embroidery on Bib
The front bib has three tiny yellow flowers with brown centers and green stems. Use embroidery thread or lightweight cotton yarn with a needle.
Flower Centers
- Make 3 brown French knots or tiny sewn circles across the lower right side of the bib.
- Place the flowers close together in a small cluster.
- Keep the center flower slightly taller than the side flowers.
Petals
- With yellow yarn, sew 5 short straight stitches around each brown center.
- Each petal should be only 1 stitch long.
- Do not make the flowers too large; the bib detail should remain delicate.
Stems and Leaves
- With green yarn, sew one short vertical stem under each flower.
- Add one small diagonal stitch on each side of the center stem for leaves.
- Secure all ends inside the overalls.
Sandals
The sandals have tan soles, brown straps, and tiny green bow accents at the outer side. Make 2 soles with tan yarn and a 3.0 mm hook.

- Add the two tan buttons to the front strap ends.
- Sew the sandals onto the feet and add brown straps and green bows.
- Add the pea-pod bag across the body and tack the strap at the shoulder.
- Sew the soil patch and sprout on top of the head.
- Place or attach the straw hat beside the doll or on the head.
- Arrange the mini snail, basket, root vegetable, and vegetables near the doll.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
Check the face from the front before securing the final knots. The eyes should look glossy and evenly placed, the nose should be small and centered, and the cheeks should sit softly below the eyes. If one cheek looks too large, remove it and restitch with shorter strands.
Look at the head shape from the side. The ears should not droop downward. If they need extra support, sew a second hidden line of stitches along the upper ear base. This keeps the wide pointed ears lifted like the photo.
For the outfit, make sure the blue bib sits flat on the belly and the straps are symmetrical. The buttons should be visible near the upper front of the overalls. The flower embroidery should stay small and bright, like a tiny garden detail rather than a large patch.
Care Notes
- Spot clean with cool water and mild soap.
- Do not machine wash if using safety eyes, buttons, or tiny sewn accessories.
- Press with a towel to remove moisture after spot cleaning.
- Air dry completely before storing.
- Keep away from pets and very young children because of small parts.

Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
To preserve the plush texture, avoid rubbing the chenille yarn harshly. Dab stains gently with a damp cloth. If the doll becomes dusty, use a soft dry brush and move in the direction of the stitches.
Store the doll upright or lying flat in a clean box. Do not compress the ears for long periods, because the pointed shape may flatten. If the ears bend, gently reshape them by hand and let the yarn relax naturally.
Keep the tiny accessories together in a small pouch or display tray when not in use. The pea-pod bag, hat, snail, and basket are delicate decorative pieces, so handle them by the stitched base rather than pulling on leaves, stems, or straps.
If gifting this crochet garden helper, include a small care card explaining that it is a handmade decorative item. This helps the recipient understand how to protect the details and keep the doll looking bright, soft, and beautiful for a long time.
