Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.
Pattern Overview
This pattern is written in US crochet terms. The duck is worked mostly in continuous rounds, with separate pieces sewn together. Use tight tension so the stuffing does not show through. The dress, accessories, flowers, sandals, hat, and little potted sunflowers are built from small shaped pieces and attached carefully to match the image.
The main doll has a large round head, smaller neck, soft oval body, slim arms, long yellow legs, and rounded duck feet. The green dress sits high under the neck with shoulder straps, a sunflower on the chest, a ruffled yellow-and-green skirt, and a scalloped yellow hem.

Important Construction Notes
Work the duck head, body, arms, legs, feet, and dress with firm tension. The large head should look smooth and round, while the body should be slightly smaller and gently tapered toward the neck. Stuff the head very firmly, especially around the eye area and cheeks.
The duck’s eyes are oversized white crochet circles with black safety eyes placed slightly inward and low on each circle. The orange bill sits across the lower face, directly under the eyes, and has a folded upper lip with a darker shadow line underneath.
The skirt is worked separately and sewn around the lower body. It includes a green waistband, a yellow center band, a green lower band, and a yellow scalloped edge. The sunflower applique on the skirt sits on the viewer’s left side, slightly tilted outward.
Main Duck Head
Use golden yellow yarn and a 2.5 mm hook. Work in continuous rounds. Stuff firmly as you go, keeping the head round and smooth.

Stuff the head very firmly. The front should be slightly fuller than the back so the face has a sweet rounded duck expression. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing to the neck and body later.
White Eye Circles
Make 2 with white yarn and a 2.0 mm hook. These eye circles are large and slightly raised, just like the image.

- Sl st to next st and fasten off with a long sewing tail.
Insert one 10 mm black safety eye between R2 and R3 of each white circle, slightly toward the inner side. Do not place the safety eyes in the duck head yet. Secure them onto the white circles, then sew the white circles onto the head.
Eye Placement
- Place the eye circles between R14 and R24 of the head.
- Leave about 5 visible stitches between the white eye circles.
- The bottom edges should sit just above the bill area.
- Sew around each white circle using small neat stitches.
Orange Duck Bill
The bill is made in two parts: a thicker upper bill and a smaller lower bill. Use bright orange yarn and a 2.5 mm hook. The upper bill is wide, rounded, and slightly folded forward.

- Fasten off with a long tail.
Sew this lower bill piece directly under the upper bill, allowing the front edge of the upper bill to overlap slightly. Use a strand of darker orange or brown yarn to embroider a thin horizontal mouth line in the gap.
Eyebrows
Use black embroidery thread. Make one gentle curved stitch above each eye. Place each eyebrow between R12 and R13 of the head. The curve should be soft and friendly, not angry. Secure the thread inside the head and trim ends.
Neck
Use golden yellow yarn and a 2.5 mm hook. The neck is short and slightly narrow, supporting the large round head.

Stuff firmly. Sew the neck to the lower center of the head opening. Later, the body will be sewn around the bottom of the neck so the head appears naturally attached above the green dress.
Body
Use golden yellow yarn for the hidden base body. The green dress will cover most of this piece, but it must still be shaped correctly so the doll stands and sits nicely.

- Flatten the top and sc 7 through both layers to close.
- Fasten off with a long tail.
Sew the legs to the lower front of the body, about 5 stitches apart. They should hang straight down from under the skirt. Keep the attachment strong because the sandals and feet add extra detail at the bottom.
Duck Feet
Make 2 with bright orange yarn. The feet are rounded ovals with a plump duck-toe look. They will sit inside beige sandal soles.
- Ch 8.
- R1: Starting in 2nd ch from hook, sc 6, 3 sc in last ch, work along other side, sc 5, inc. (16)

- Stuff lightly.
- R8: sc 5, dec 3 times, sc 10. (18)
- Sl st and fasten off with a long tail.
Sew each foot to the bottom of a leg. The wider rounded toe section should face forward. Shape the toe area with your fingers as you sew so the foot looks flat and cute, not pointed.
Arms
Make 2 with golden yellow yarn. The arms are soft, rounded, and slightly tapered, like plush duck wings.
- R1: 6 sc in MR. (6)
- R2: inc around. (12)
- R3: sc 3, inc around. (15)

Sew the arms to the sides of the body just below the neck, around R25 of the body. Angle them slightly downward. The arms should rest beside the green dress, with the rounded tips reaching near the skirt edge.
Green Dress Bodice
Use green yarn and a 2.5 mm hook. The bodice is a fitted tube that sits over the upper body. It has a straight top edge, shoulder straps, and a sunflower at the center front.

Slide the bodice over the body from the bottom before attaching the skirt, or sew it around the body if the head is already attached. The top edge should sit directly below the neck, like the image.
Shoulder Straps
Make 2 with green yarn.
- Ch 24.
- Starting in 2nd ch from hook, sc 23.
- Ch 1, turn, sc 23.
- Fasten off with long tails.
Sew one strap from the front right of the bodice over the shoulder to the back right. Repeat on the left side. Place the straps about 8 stitches apart at the front. Add tiny yellow buttons or embroidered yellow knots at the front strap ends.
Striped Garden Skirt
The skirt is full and slightly flared. It has a green top, a wide yellow middle band, a green lower band, and a yellow scalloped trim. Use a 2.5 mm hook.

Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
- Sew the head, neck, and body together firmly. The large round head should face forward and sit centered over the green dress.
- Attach both white eye circles evenly, then check that the black safety eyes point forward.
- Sew the orange upper bill under the eyes and the lower bill directly beneath it.
- Embroider the fine mouth shadow line between the two bill pieces.
- Sew the arms to the sides, angled gently downward.
- Sew the legs under the skirt and attach the feet securely.
- Fit the dress bodice, shoulder straps, and skirt neatly around the body.
- Add the chest sunflower, skirt sunflower, tiny bees, hair sunflowers, bag, sandals, and hat.
- Adjust all flowers so the petals sit flat and visible from the front.
Care Notes
Spot clean the finished duck with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid soaking the doll because the stuffing may shift and the small appliques may lose shape. Let the doll air dry flat in a shaded place.
If the hat brim curls after storage, gently reshape it with your fingers. You may lightly steam the brim from a safe distance, but do not press directly on the safety eyes, bill, flowers, or bees.
Quick Checklist Before You Finish
- The head is round, firm, and larger than the body.
- The eyes are large, white, even, and slightly raised.
- The orange bill has a visible upper and lower section.
- The dress has a green bodice, yellow stripe, green lower band, and yellow scalloped hem.
- The sunflower details are attached to the head, chest, skirt, bag, sandals, hat, and pots.
- The crossbody bag sits diagonally across the front.
- The sandals show beige straps over orange duck feet.
- The tiny potted sunflowers stand beside the doll as matching accessories.
Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
Keep the doll away from strong sunlight for long periods to protect the bright yellow, green, and orange yarn colors. Store it in a dry place with enough room so the hat brim, flowers, and bag are not crushed.
For dust removal, use a soft brush and move gently around the sunflower petals and bee appliques. If a flower petal bends, reshape it by hand and secure it with a small hidden stitch if needed.
When storing the doll, place tissue paper inside the hat crown and around the skirt to help preserve the shape. Do not hang the doll by the arms, bag strap, or hat band, because this can stretch the stitches over time.
