Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.
Pattern Overview
This pattern makes a gray-blue amigurumi cat with a large rounded head, slim body, long arms, rounded paws, short legs, white muzzle, expressive oval eyes, pointed ears, and small facial details. The doll is designed to match the pictured summer picnic styling as closely as possible using crochet shaping, color placement, and careful assembly.
The finished doll has a soft handmade look, with firm shaping in the head and body and slightly softer shaping in the accessories. The romper is worked directly onto the body for a fitted appearance, while the hat, bag, basket, strawberry, bow, and sandals are made separately and sewn in place or left removable.
Finished Size
- Doll height: about 11 inches from ear tips to feet when using DK cotton and a 2.25 mm hook.
- Head width: about 4 inches across the cheeks.
- Body width: about 2.25 inches across the romper.
- Sunhat diameter: about 4.5 inches.
- Picnic basket: about 2 inches wide.
- Strawberry: about 1 inch tall.
Skill Level
Confident beginner to intermediate. You should know how to work in continuous rounds, increase, decrease, change colors, sew small pieces, embroider details, and stuff amigurumi firmly. The instructions are written round by round with stitch counts included, so take your time and mark the first stitch of every round.

Gauge and Notes
Gauge is not extremely strict, but your stitches should be tight enough that stuffing does not show through. For a neat doll, work with a hook smaller than recommended on your yarn label. The pictured style has dense, even stitches and a smooth amigurumi surface.
Work most pieces in continuous rounds unless the pattern says otherwise. Do not join at the end of each round. Use a stitch marker and move it up as you work. Stuff gradually, especially the head, body, hands, and feet, so the finished doll keeps its rounded picnic-doll shape.

When changing colors for the romper stripes, finish the last pull-through of the previous stitch with the new color. Carry the unused yarn inside only if it does not show. For cleaner stripes, cut and weave ends when needed, especially across the front bib and shorts.
Color Placement Guide
- Cat body: gray-blue head, arms, legs, and tail area.
- Face: white muzzle and cheeks, cream eye patches, black nose, black whiskers, red tongue.
- Romper: turquoise and white horizontal stripes, turquoise bib, white bib border, beige buttons.
- Accessories: yellow bow, beige sunhat, blue hat band, white daisy, beige basket, red gingham cloth, red strawberry, beige crossbody bag with purple flower.
Head
Use gray-blue yarn and the 2.25 mm hook. The head is large and rounded, slightly wider at the cheek area than at the top. Stuff firmly as you go, especially before the opening becomes small. Keep the front smooth because the face pieces will sit between rounds 13 and 22.

Muzzle and Cheeks
The white muzzle is made from two rounded cheek pads joined visually under a small black nose. In the image, the white area is wide and soft, sitting across the lower face. Make the two cheek ovals separately, then sew them side by side so they touch in the center.
Left and Right Cheek Ovals

FO and sew this small piece above the two cheeks, with the narrow end pointing upward toward the nose. It helps create the white bridge under the nose as seen in the image.
Nose, Mouth, Tongue, and Whiskers
Use black yarn for the nose. Ch 4, work 2 sc in the second ch from hook, sc 1, 3 sc in last ch, rotate, sc 1, sc 1 into the first used ch. Sl st to close. FO with a long tail. Sew it at the top center of the white muzzle.
For the red tongue, use red yarn and a 2.00 mm hook. Ch 4, sc in the second ch from hook, hdc in next ch, sc in last ch. FO. Sew the tongue just below the center of the white cheeks. Embroider a small black smiling curve around the tongue.
For whiskers, use black embroidery thread or split black yarn. Sew three straight whisker lines on each side of the muzzle. Place the upper whisker slightly upward, the middle whisker straight outward, and the lower whisker slightly downward. Keep the lines thin and even.
Eye Patches and Eyes
The picture shows tall oval eyes with pale cream outer patches and green centers. You may use oval safety eyes over crocheted cream patches, or make fully crocheted eyes. Place the eyes high and wide on the face, above the muzzle, between rounds 11 and 17.

FO. Sew one green oval onto each cream patch. Embroider a vertical black pupil down the center of each green oval. Add one tiny white stitch on the upper side of each pupil for a shiny highlight, matching the bright expression in the photo.
Ears
The ears are pointed, triangular, and slightly curved outward. Make two gray-blue outer ears and two pink inner ear triangles. The ears should be sewn high on the head, around rounds 5 to 12, angled outward from the top corners.

FO and sew one pink triangle onto the front of each gray-blue ear. Leave a gray-blue border visible around the pink panel. This creates the soft inner ear detail seen in the image.
Small Head Tufts
Use gray-blue yarn. Attach yarn at the top center of the head, between the ears. Ch 5, sl st in second ch from hook and in each remaining ch, sl st back into the head. Repeat twice more, making one ch 4 tuft and one ch 5 tuft. FO and hide ends.
Body with Built-In Romper
The body is smaller than the head and shaped like a soft oval torso. The top is gray-blue, while the lower portion becomes the blue-and-white striped romper. Work firmly so the body can support the head. Stuff as you go.
Start with gray-blue yarn.

Stuff the body firmly but keep the bottom slightly flat. FO with a tail. The BLO round creates a neat lower edge for the shorts and lets you add leg openings later. The body should look rounded at the chest and taper gently at the lower romper.
Romper Bib
The turquoise bib sits on the front of the torso with a white border and a small daisy in the center. It is placed over the upper striped section, covering rounds 12 to 18 of the body.
Use turquoise yarn.

Use white yarn for petals. Attach white yarn to any center stitch. Ch 4, sl st in second ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, sl st into the same center stitch. Repeat in each of the 6 center stitches. FO and sew the daisy to the bib center.
Arms
The arms are long and slim. The paws are white and rounded, while the upper arms are gray-blue. Lightly stuff the hands and lower arms, then leave the upper arms softer so they hang naturally beside the body.

Flatten the top opening and sc through both layers with 4 sc to close. FO with a long tail. Embroider two short curved gray-blue lines onto each white paw to suggest fingers, matching the soft mitten-like hands in the picture.
Legs and Feet
The legs have gray-blue thighs, white ankles, and red sandals over white toes. The feet are slightly oversized compared with the legs, which gives the doll a playful cartoon-like stance. Make two legs and attach them to the lower romper.
Feet and Legs
Make 2. Start with white yarn for the toes.

Stuff the foot firmly and the leg moderately. Flatten the top of the leg and sc through both layers with 8 sc to close. FO with a long tail. Sew the legs to the lower front of the body under the romper, spaced about 5 stitches apart.
Toe Lines
Use gray-blue yarn or light gray embroidery thread. Sew two short vertical curved lines on each white foot to divide the toes into three rounded sections. The toe lines should sit on the front top of each foot, visible above the sandal strap.
Red Sandals
The sandals are red with beige soles and white button details. They sit over the white feet and should not completely cover the toes. Make two red uppers and two beige soles.

Yellow Head Bow
The yellow bow is placed near one ear on the top front of the head. It has two rounded loops and a narrow center band. Make it small but bright so it stands out against the gray-blue head.
Bow Rectangle
Use yellow yarn.
- Ch 16.
- Row 1: Starting in second ch from hook, sc 15. Ch 1, turn.
- Rows 2 to 5: sc across. Ch 1, turn after rows 2 to 4.

- Starting in second ch from hook, sc 5.
- FO and wrap around the bow center.
Sew the bow near the upper right side of the head, close to one ear and slightly forward, matching the cheerful placement in the photo.
Sunhat
The sunhat is wide and flat with a shallow crown, beige straw-like texture, a turquoise band, and a daisy decoration. Work it tightly so the brim holds its round shape. A slightly larger hook can be used for a softer brim, but keep the stitches even.

Sew one strap end to each side of the bag. Place the strap across the doll from one shoulder to the opposite hip. Tack it lightly at the shoulder and side so the bag stays in the same position as the image.
Purple Flower on Bag
Use yellow for the center: 5 sc in MR, sl st to close. Use purple for petals: attach purple, ch 3, sl st into same stitch; repeat in each center stitch. FO. Sew the flower to the lower front of the bag flap.
Picnic Basket
The basket is a small beige woven-style accessory with a handle and a red-and-white gingham cloth tucked inside. It is worked as a shallow rectangular basket, then decorated with surface stitches or embroidered lines to suggest woven texture.

Stuff lightly. FO and close the opening. With white yarn, embroider tiny seed stitches scattered across the strawberry. Keep them short and angled.
Strawberry Leaves
Use green yarn. Attach at the top center. Ch 4, sl st in second ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, sl st back into the top. Repeat 5 times around the top. FO and hide ends.
Tail
The tail is optional in the image because the doll lies flat on its back, but adding a small gray-blue tail helps the cat shape. Keep it slim and attach it behind the romper so it does not interrupt the front view.
Use gray-blue yarn.
- Rnd 1: 6 sc in MR. 6 sts.
- Rnd 2: sc 1, inc; repeat around. 9 sts.
- Rnd 3 to Rnd 16: sc around. 9 sts.
Stuff very lightly. Flatten the open end and sc through both layers with 4 sc. FO with a long tail. Sew the tail to the back of the body just above the lower romper edge, curving it gently to one side.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
- Sew the head firmly to the body, centering the face over the bib.
- Sew the ears to the head and add the yellow bow near one ear.
- Sew the arms to the upper sides of the body, just below the neck.
- Sew the legs under the romper with the feet pointing forward.
- Add the muzzle, eye patches, eyes, nose, tongue, whiskers, and smile.
- Sew the bib, straps, buttons, and daisy securely to the romper.
- Place the crossbody bag diagonally across the front.
- Finish the sunhat, picnic basket, gingham cloth, and strawberry as separate accessories.
Before sewing permanently, pin every piece in place and compare the full silhouette. The head should be large, the body slim, the legs short, the arms long, and the accessories cheerful and picnic-themed. Adjust the angle of the ears, bow, and straps until the doll has the same playful expression.
Care Notes
- Spot clean with cool water and mild soap.
- Do not machine wash if safety eyes, buttons, or delicate embroidery are used.
- Lay flat to dry on a clean towel.
- Reshape the hat brim, ears, bow, and bag while damp.
- Keep small accessories away from children under three if they are detachable.

Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
For long-term display, keep the doll away from strong sunlight, damp shelves, and dusty surfaces. Store the accessories with the doll so the set remains complete. If the brim or bow becomes flattened, gently reshape it by hand and let it rest flat overnight.
If the doll needs deeper cleaning, use a barely damp cloth and dab the surface instead of rubbing. Avoid soaking the head and body because heavy water can shift stuffing and distort the face. Let every piece dry completely before storing or displaying again.
