This cheerful crochet summer picnic doll features a large white Snoopy-style dog wearing blue denim overalls, a striped cream-and-navy shirt, a red collar, open-toe sandals, a small crossbody bag, and stitched fruit patches. A tiny yellow Woodstock-style bird sits happily on top of the dog’s head with a flower crown. The scene also includes a picnic basket, camera, and straw sun hat for a sweet handmade display.
Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.
Pattern Overview
This pattern is written in US crochet terms and is made as a structured amigurumi display doll. The dog has an oversized oval head, long rounded snout, soft black floppy ears, slim white arms and legs, denim-style overalls, blue sandals, and tiny embroidered facial features.
The small yellow bird is worked separately and sewn to the top of the head. The accessories are made as separate mini props so you can arrange the finished doll like the picnic scene in the image.

- Finished bird height: About 3 inches.

Gauge and Stitch Notes
For amigurumi, the exact gauge is less important than a tight fabric. Your stitches should be firm enough that stuffing does not show through. If gaps appear, go down one hook size.
Most parts are worked in continuous spiral rounds. Do not join unless the pattern specifically says to join. Place a stitch marker in the first stitch of each round and move it up as you work.
- Stuff the head firmly but do not stretch the stitches.
- Stuff the muzzle lightly at the front and firmly near the face so it keeps its long rounded shape.
- Stuff the legs firmly at the feet and moderately through the calves.
- Keep the ears lightly stuffed or unstuffed so they hang naturally.
- Use invisible decreases for a smooth finish.
Color Placement Guide
The main dog is white with black floppy ears and a black oval nose. The left side of the snout has a black cheek patch visible near the nose area. The eyes and smile are embroidered, not safety eyes, to match the soft handmade look in the image.
The outfit has a cream shirt with navy blue horizontal stripes under blue denim overalls. The overalls include a front bib, two shoulder straps, rolled cuffs, little tan buttons, and small applique patches shaped like a daisy, strawberry, and stitched leaves.
The sandals are blue with tan soles and open white toes. The bird is bright yellow with a small rounded head, tiny wings, three head feathers, tiny feet, and a flower crown across the forehead.

Sew the patch to the dog’s left side of the muzzle area, partly wrapping toward the cheek. Keep it low and forward so it peeks out beside the black nose, just like the image.
Floppy Ears
Make 2 with black yarn. The ears are long, rounded, and hang beside the head. They are worked as soft oval panels. Do not overstuff; a flat floppy shape is best.

- R33: sc around. 16 sts.
- Flatten the top opening and sc through both layers across 8 sts.
- FO, leaving a long sewing tail.
Attach the ears to the sides of the head between R10 and R18. The ears should hang downward, framing the face. Sew the top edge securely but leave the lower part free so the ears can curve naturally.
Facial Embroidery
Use black embroidery thread or split black yarn. The face is simple and soft. The image shows embroidered eyes, small brow marks, and a curved smile.
- Embroider the first eye as a short vertical oval stitch above the muzzle on the viewer’s right side.
- Embroider the second eye or brow as a curved dash higher on the opposite side.
- For the smile, stitch a long gentle curve from the lower side of the muzzle toward the cheek.
- Add a tiny black brow dash above the eye if desired.
- Do not use large safety eyes, because the reference has stitched facial features.
Body Base
The body is mostly hidden under the clothes, but it needs a firm pear shape. Use white yarn. Stuff as you work. Add a small weighted pouch at the base if you want the doll to sit on a bench or shelf.
- R1: 6 sc in MR. 6 sts.

- R2: sc 1, inc around. 18 sts.
- R3 to R7: sc around. 18 sts.
- FO, leaving a long tail.
Stuff firmly. Insert between the head and body while sewing. Stitch through the neck, body, and lower head several times so the doll can hold the bird securely on top.
Arms
Make 2 with white yarn. The arms are slim and lightly curved downward. The paws have small black claw lines embroidered at the ends.
- R1: 6 sc in MR. 6 sts.
- R2: inc around. 12 sts.

- Flatten opening and sc through both layers across 6 sts.
- FO, leaving a long sewing tail.
Sew the arms to the sides of the upper body under the overall straps. Position them hanging beside the torso, with the paws visible below the short sleeves.
Use black embroidery thread to add three tiny curved claw lines at the lower end of each paw. Keep the lines short and evenly spaced.
Legs
Make 2 with white yarn. The legs are long enough to hang over the edge of a table or shelf. The feet are rounded and slightly larger so the sandals fit well.

Sew the bow pieces to one side of the hat band. The finished hat should look like the small straw hat with pale blue trim in the image.
Optional Wooden Bench Display Position
The doll is designed to sit with both legs hanging forward. To help the seated position, sew the legs to the lower front of the body rather than directly underneath. This makes the hips bend naturally.
If you want the doll to sit securely, place a small weighted pouch inside the lower body before closing. You can also sew the shorts lightly to the back of the body to keep the outfit smooth while the doll sits.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
- Sew the neck securely between the body and head.
- Attach the muzzle to the lower front of the head, then sew the black nose to the muzzle tip.
- Sew the black patch to one side of the muzzle area.
- Sew the ears to the sides of the head so they hang down evenly.
- Embroider the eyes, brows, and smile with black thread.
- Attach the arms under the sleeves and embroider black paw lines.
- Sew the legs to the lower front body and attach the sandals.
- Fit the shirt and overalls, then sew the bib, straps, pockets, buttons, and patches.
- Wrap and sew the red collar around the neck.
- Sew the crossbody bag strap diagonally across the chest and secure the bag at one hip.
- Sew the yellow bird to the top of the head and add the flower crown.
- Place the basket, camera, and straw hat beside the finished doll for the full picnic display.
Check the face from the front before tying off embroidery ends. Small changes in eye angle and smile curve can completely change the expression, so pin and preview each detail before making permanent stitches.
Care Notes
- Spot clean with a damp cloth and mild soap.
- Do not machine wash if buttons, embroidery, or weighted inserts are used.
- Let the doll air dry flat in a shaded area.
- Reshape the ears, muzzle, overalls, and hat while damp if needed.
- Keep away from rough Velcro, pets, and sharp objects that may catch the stitches.
Quick Checklist Before You Finish
- The head is firmly attached and angled slightly forward.
- The muzzle is centered and projects outward smoothly.
- Both ears hang evenly on the sides of the head.
- The overalls have a front bib, straps, pockets, cuffs, and tiny buttons.
- The sandals show white toes with black stitched toe lines.
- The bird is securely sewn to the top of the head.
- The flower crown, strawberry, daisy, patches, bag, basket, camera, and hat are all complete.
Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
To preserve the shape, avoid soaking the finished doll. Use a soft cloth to clean the white head, muzzle, arms, and legs. For darker yarn areas, dab gently instead of rubbing so the black and blue fibers stay neat.
Store the doll upright or seated with the ears lying naturally. Do not place heavy items on the head, bird, brim of the hat, or picnic basket. If storing long term, wrap the accessories separately in tissue paper.
Keep the doll out of direct sunlight for long periods, especially the red collar, yellow bird, and blue overalls. This helps prevent fading and keeps the summer picnic colors bright and cheerful.
