Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.
Pattern Overview
This pattern is written in US crochet terms and is worked mainly in continuous spiral rounds. The fox is built as a sitting amigurumi doll with slim legs, small arms, a rounded body, a large fox head, a long pointed muzzle, and a tapered tail.
The outfit is crocheted directly onto the doll where possible, with separate pieces for the overalls bib, straps, sandals, yellow bee purse, flower decoration, and blue hat. The finished doll has a handmade garden toy look, with soft texture and detailed accessories.
- Finished size: about 12 inches tall when made with DK weight yarn and a 2.5 mm hook.
- Skill level: confident beginner to intermediate.
- Main construction: legs, body, head, arms, tail, outfit pieces, accessories, and final embroidery.
- Style: seated fox doll with removable-looking summer garden outfit details.

Gauge and Tension
For amigurumi, exact gauge is less important than a firm fabric. Your stitches should be tight enough that stuffing does not show through. Use a smaller hook than the yarn label suggests.
- With 2.5 mm hook, 7 sc across should measure about 1 inch.
- Keep the orange fox body firm and smooth.
- Keep clothing pieces slightly softer so they sit naturally on the doll.
- Stuff the head firmly, but do not overstuff the snout tip.
Important Construction Notes
The fox has a very recognizable shape. The head is wide at the back, then narrows forward into a long triangular muzzle. The ears are large and pointed. The tail is long, tapered, and curves behind the body.
The doll sits with straight thin legs hanging down, wearing brown sandals. The blue overalls cover the body and upper legs. The striped shirt is visible on the arms and upper chest.
- Work most body parts in continuous rounds unless stated otherwise.
- Place a stitch marker in the first stitch of every round.
- Stuff gradually as you work to keep the shaping even.
- Sew all parts with firm, small stitches so the doll can sit securely.

Stuff the body firmly. The blue shorts should look rounded but not bulky. The striped upper shirt should sit above the blue overalls and below the fox head.
Overall Front Bib
The bib is sewn over the striped shirt on the front body. It should cover the center chest and look like denim overalls, leaving stripes visible at both sides.
- Use medium blue yarn and 2.5 mm hook.
- Ch 11.
- R1: Starting in second ch from hook, sc 10, ch 1, turn.
- R2 to R7: Sc 10, ch 1, turn.

Head and Long Fox Muzzle
The head is the most important part of this design. It has a rounded back skull and a long pointed fox snout extending forward. Work the head in rust orange and shape carefully while stuffing.

- R18: Sc 30.
- R19: Sc 3, dec, repeat around. 24 sts.
- R20: Sc 2, dec, repeat around. 18 sts.
Do not close yet. Stuff the head firmly, especially the back and crown. Leave the front area shaped slightly forward by adding a small extra piece of stuffing where the muzzle will be sewn.
Long Tapered Muzzle
The muzzle is worked separately from the black nose tip backward toward the head. This creates the long triangular fox face shown in the photo.
- R1: With black yarn, make 5 sc in MR. 5 sts.
- R2: Sc 5.
- R3: Inc, sc 4. 6 sts.
- R4: Change to rust orange, sc 6.

- R16: Sc 24.
- R17: Sc 7, inc, repeat 3 times. 27 sts.
- R18: Sc 27.
Stuff the muzzle lightly at the black tip and more firmly toward the wide end. Flatten the wide end slightly into an oval. Pin it to the lower front of the head, pointing forward and slightly downward.
Sew the muzzle securely to the head across an oval area about 8 rounds wide and 6 rounds tall. The black nose should sit at the narrow point. Add a few extra stitches under the muzzle so it keeps its long fox shape.
Finish Closing Head
- Continue from R20 of the main head.
- R21: Sc 1, dec, repeat around. 12 sts.
- R22: Dec around. 6 sts.
- FO, weave tail through front loops, pull closed, and hide end.
Eyes and Sleepy Expression
The eyes in the photo are small, soft, and set high on the muzzle area. Use white eye patches with black embroidery for a cute sleepy fox expression.
White Eye Patches, Make 2
- With white yarn and 2.25 mm hook, make 5 sc in MR.
- Pull ring tight and sl st to first sc.
- FO, leaving a long tail.
Sew the eye patches side by side above the wide part of the muzzle. They should sit close together, slightly angled inward. Embroider one tiny black vertical sleepy stitch or add a 4 mm black safety eye to each white patch.
Large Pointed Fox Ears
The ears are wide at the base and sharply pointed. Make them firm enough to stand upright, then sew them to the top sides of the head.
Outer Ear, Make 2

Stuff the paws lightly only. Do not stuff the upper sleeves heavily. Sew the arms to the sides of the body just below the neck, angled downward.
Fox Tail
The tail is long, thick, and tapered. In the image, it rests behind the fox and points to the side. This version uses rust orange with shaping that creates a curved seated tail.
- R1: With rust orange, make 6 sc in MR. 6 sts.
- R2: Sc 6.
- R3: Sc 1, inc, repeat 3 times. 9 sts.
- R4: Sc 9.
- R5: Sc 2, inc, repeat 3 times. 12 sts.

- R22: Sc 3, dec, repeat 3 times. 12 sts.
- R23: Sc 12.
Stuff the tail firmly at the base and moderately at the tip. Bend the tail slightly while stuffing to create a natural curve. Flatten the open end and sew it to the back lower body, just above the shorts line.
Blue Overall Shorts Edging
The shorts in the image have a neat blue edge around each leg. Add this after the legs and body are complete.
- Join medium blue yarn to one front loop left from R20 of the leg.
- Ch 1, sc in each front loop around. 10 sts.
- Sl st to first sc and FO.
- Repeat for the second leg.
This small edging gives the shorts a finished cuff and separates the orange fox legs from the blue outfit.
Brown Sandals
The sandals have a sole, front strap, ankle strap, and tiny button accent. They should sit at the bottom of the orange feet and show the toes from the front.
Sandal Soles, Make 2
- Use brown yarn and 2.25 mm hook.
- Ch 7.
- R1: Starting in second ch from hook, sc 5, 3 sc in last ch.

- Repeat the petal sequence in each of the 5 stitches.
- FO, leaving a sewing tail.
Layer the green leaf behind the flower and the teal leaf slightly below it. Sew the cluster near the fox’s right ear. Angle it so it rests on the side of the head, not directly on the forehead.
Blue Summer Hat with Pom-Poms
The hat is shown beside the fox, not on the head. It is a blue earflap-style hat with a soft rectangular crown, two side ties, two round pom-poms at the ends, and one pom-pom on top.

- R4: Dec around. 6 sts.
- Stuff lightly.
- FO, close the opening, and leave a tail.
Sew one pom-pom to the top of the hat. Sew one pom-pom to the end of each tie. Shape the hat softly so it looks relaxed, like it is resting on the bench beside the fox.
Striped Shirt Collar Detail
The neck area in the photo has a small dark blue collar line. Add this after the head is attached.
- With dark blue yarn, join at the back of the neck.
- Work surface sl st around the base of the neck for one complete round.
- Keep the stitches loose so the head is not pulled downward.
- FO and hide the ends at the back.
You can also embroider two short dark blue lines at the center front of the shirt to suggest a tiny collar opening.
Attach Head to Body
Position the head so the long muzzle points slightly downward and forward. The fox should look like it is calmly sitting outdoors. Use many pins before sewing.
- Place the body neck opening against the bottom of the head.
- Check that the muzzle is centered over the front bib.
- Sew around the neck twice with rust orange yarn.
- Add extra stitches at the back of the neck for support.
- Hide all ends inside the body.
The head is large compared with the body, so firm neck sewing is important. If needed, insert a small rolled piece of felt or extra stuffing into the neck before sewing closed.
Optional Toe Details
The feet in the image show small orange toe divisions inside the sandals. Add simple embroidered toe lines for extra accuracy.
- Thread rust orange or darker orange yarn onto a needle.
- Make two short vertical stitches on the front of each foot.
- Pull gently, just enough to indent the toes.
- Secure the yarn underneath the sandal sole.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing should be done slowly. The charm of this fox comes from the long snout, soft eyes, neat outfit, and careful accessory placement.
- Sew the muzzle first, then place the eye patches above it.
- Attach ears after checking the face angle.
- Sew the head to the body before attaching the flower cluster.
- Attach the tail low on the back so the doll can sit.
- Sew the arms to the sides, pointing slightly downward.
- Add the overalls bib, straps, and buttons last so they sit neatly over the shirt.
- Place the yellow bee bag diagonally across the body.
- Set the blue hat beside the doll, or make it slightly larger if you want it wearable.
For the sleepy eyes, embroider tiny black stitches on the white eye patches. Keep both eyes close together and slightly high on the muzzle. Add a tiny black stitch under the nose if you want a gentle mouth.
Care Notes
Care Notes: This fox doll is best treated as a handmade decorative toy. Spot cleaning is recommended, especially because the doll includes small buttons, sewn accessories, and layered crochet details.
- Do not machine wash if safety eyes, buttons, or glued decorations are used.
- Use a damp cloth with mild soap for light cleaning.
- Press gently with a towel to remove moisture.
- Let the doll air dry completely before storing.
Quick Checklist Before You Finish
- The fox head is firmly attached and does not wobble.
- The long muzzle is centered and points forward.
- The ears are symmetrical and angled outward.
- The striped shirt is visible above the overalls.
- The bib and straps are sewn flat with two buttons.
- The yellow bee bag crosses the front diagonally.
- The sandals are secure and show the orange toes.
- The flower and leaves sit beside one ear.
- The blue hat has two ties and three pom-poms.
- The tail helps the doll sit naturally.
Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines: Store the fox in a dry place away from strong sunlight. Long sun exposure may fade the rust orange body, yellow bag, and blue outfit.
If the doll becomes dusty, use a soft brush to clean around the muzzle, ears, flower, buttons, and sandals. Avoid pulling on the crossbody strap or hat ties.
For long-term storage, wrap the doll loosely in tissue paper and place it in a breathable cotton bag. Do not compress the muzzle or ears, because those shapes give the fox its character.
If the hat or bag becomes misshapen, reshape it gently with your fingers. Add a tiny amount of fresh stuffing to the pom-poms if they flatten over time.
Finishing Thought
Your Fox Summer Garden Outfit Doll is now complete. The finished piece should look like a cheerful handmade fox friend dressed for a sunny day outside, with its blue overalls, striped shirt, tiny sandals, bee purse, floral head accent, and soft blue pom-pom hat resting nearby.
