Pattern Overview
This pattern is written in US crochet terms and is designed as a detailed amigurumi-style guide for recreating the full lamb picnic scene shown in the image. The doll has a soft oval head, a larger protruding muzzle, short arms, straight legs, rounded feet, a striped romper, and several removable picnic accessories.
The main lamb is worked mostly in continuous spiral rounds. The clothing and accessories are worked separately, then sewn onto the doll. Keep your tension firm so the stuffing does not show through the stitches. Use stitch markers at the beginning of each round.
Finished Size
- Main lamb doll: about 10 to 11 inches tall when made with worsted weight yarn and a 3.0 mm hook.
- Sun hat: about 5 inches wide across the brim.
- Picnic blanket: about 4.5 inches square.
- Small fruit basket: about 2 inches wide.
- Crossbody pouch: about 2.25 inches tall, not including strap.
Materials
- Worsted weight cotton or cotton-acrylic yarn in cream, sky blue, ivory, yellow, tan, red, green, white, pink, purple, orange, and small amounts of brown.
- Fuzzy pink yarn or brushed pink acrylic yarn for the hair tuft.
- 3.0 mm crochet hook for the doll and firm accessories.
- 3.5 mm crochet hook for the sun hat brim if you want a slightly softer curve.
- Fiberfill stuffing.
- Two large white safety eyes or crocheted white eye circles, about 18 to 20 mm wide.
- Two tiny black safety eyes, black beads, or black embroidered dots for pupils.
- Yarn needle.
- Stitch markers.
- Scissors.
- Pink embroidery thread for cheeks and mouth.
- Optional: craft wire or pipe cleaner for basket handles and hat brim shaping.
Abbreviations
- MR: magic ring
- ch: chain

Gauge and Tension
For the amigurumi pieces, 6 sc and 6 rounds should measure about 1 inch with worsted weight yarn and a 3.0 mm hook. The exact gauge is less important than keeping the fabric tight, smooth, and even. If gaps appear between stitches, use a smaller hook.
The lamb in the picture has firm, rounded shaping, so stuff the head and body gradually. Do not overstuff the muzzle, ears, or arms. The muzzle should look soft and rounded, not hard or pointed.
Color Notes
- Cream: head, muzzle, body, ears, arms, legs, and feet.
- Sky blue: romper, shorts, hat, blanket edging, and stripes.
- Ivory: romper stripes, pouch, blanket base, hat stripe, and flower petals.
- Yellow: sandals, flower centers, and fruit details.
- Pink: hair tuft, tongue, cheeks, flower accents, and blanket detail.
- Red and green: strawberries and applique.
- Tan: picnic baskets and sandal soles.
Main Lamb Head
Work in cream yarn. The head is a large rounded oval with a slightly wider lower face. Stuff firmly as you go. The top should remain rounded and smooth because the pink hair tuft will sit across the crown.

Place the muzzle across the lower front of the head, centered between R15 and R27 of the head. Add a small amount of stuffing as you sew. The muzzle should protrude gently and create the soft sheep-like face seen in the photo.
Nostrils, Mouth, Tongue, and Cheeks
- Use brown or soft taupe embroidery thread to stitch two small vertical nostrils on the muzzle, about 7 stitches apart.
- Use pink embroidery thread to stitch a tiny straight mouth line across the lower middle of the muzzle.
- For the tongue, use bright pink yarn. Ch 4, sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch, sc in last ch. FO and sew to the lower right side of the mouth.
- For each cheek, use soft pink thread and make 3 short horizontal stitches on each side of the muzzle. Keep them light and rounded.
Eyes
The eyes in the picture are large, raised, white, and slightly surprised. You may use large white safety eyes with black pupils, or crochet the eye circles and embroider the pupils.

Sew the eyes above the muzzle, about 2 stitches apart. Add tiny black pupils slightly toward the center. This gives the doll the wide, curious picnic-day expression shown in the image.
Floppy Lamb Ears, Make 2
The ears are long, rounded, and attached horizontally to the sides of the head. They have a soft oval shape with a slightly cupped texture. Work in cream yarn.

Pink Fuzzy Hair Tuft
The hair tuft is short, fluffy, and centered on the crown. Use fuzzy pink yarn or make loops with regular pink yarn and brush them gently.
- With pink yarn, ch 9.

Assembly Order
- Sew the muzzle to the lower front of the head and add the nostrils, mouth, tongue, and cheeks.
- Sew or attach the large white eyes above the muzzle. Add black pupils slightly inward.
- Sew the ears to the sides of the head and angle them outward.
- Sew the pink hair tuft across the crown, then add the two tiny daisies beside it.
- Sew the legs and feet to the lower body. Add the sandals over the feet.
- Dress the body with the striped romper. Secure the bib and shoulder straps.
- Sew the arms to the sides of the body so they sit over the romper edges.
- Sew the head to the body using a firm circular seam. Add extra stitches at the back of the neck for support.
- Add the crossbody pouch diagonally over the front of the doll.
- Make the sun hat, picnic blanket, baskets, and fruit pieces. Arrange them around the lamb for the complete picnic garden scene.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
After the main pieces are sewn together, look at the doll from the front, sides, and top. Adjust the ears so they sit evenly and frame the face. The ears should not point upward; they should spread gently to the sides.
Use small stitches to secure the romper at the sides, under the arms, and around the waist. This helps the outfit stay smooth and keeps the stripes lined up across the belly.
For the face, keep the mouth simple. The picture shows a soft, quiet expression with a tiny pink mouth and blushing cheeks. Avoid making the mouth too dark or too large, because the oversized eyes and rounded muzzle are the main features.
Place the crossbody strap from the doll’s left shoulder down to the right hip. The pouch should rest on the lower right front of the romper, with the red strawberry applique facing outward.
Care Notes
- Spot clean the doll with a damp cloth and mild soap.
- Do not machine wash if you used safety eyes, wire, beads, or brushed fuzzy yarn.
- Let the doll air dry completely before storing.
- Keep the hat brim flat while drying so it does not curl too much.
- If the pink hair becomes flattened, gently fluff it with your fingers.

Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
Store the finished lamb in a dry place away from direct sunlight. Strong sunlight can fade the blue romper, yellow sandals, red strawberries, and pink hair over time. If displaying the doll on a shelf, rotate the position occasionally so one side does not fade faster than the other.
To remove dust, use a soft makeup brush or a clean dry paintbrush. Brush gently around the eyes, flowers, basket handles, and the textured hair tuft. Do not pull the fuzzy pink yarn, because it may loosen from the crown.
If the doll needs deeper cleaning, dampen a white cloth with cool water and a tiny amount of mild soap. Dab the stained area instead of rubbing. After cleaning, dab again with plain water, then press with a dry towel. Let the piece dry naturally in a well-ventilated area.
For long-term storage, wrap the doll and accessories in acid-free tissue paper or a clean cotton cloth. Do not pack heavy items on top of the hat, basket handles, or ears. Keep the picnic fruits together in a small fabric bag so the tiny pieces are not lost.
Before gifting, check that all sewn pieces are secure. Tug gently on the eyes, flowers, pouch strap, sandals, basket handles, and fruit pieces. Add extra stitches anywhere that feels loose. For young children, embroider the eyes instead of using plastic safety parts.
