Create a cozy wool-and-wildflower market cottage with a cream cottage, terracotta textured roof, porch, fences, sheep, yarn baskets, flower stalls, bunting flags, stepping-stone path, garden shrubs, tiny jars, signs, and a cheerful bee. This miniature crochet display is designed as a detailed cottage scene with many small amigurumi-style market pieces arranged on a round grassy base.
Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.
Finished Size
- Finished display base: about 15 in wide.
- Cottage: about 8 in wide, 6 in tall, and 4 in deep.
- Main sheep: about 2.5 in tall.
- Mini animals and market items: about 0.5–2.5 in tall.
- Gauge is not critical, but tight stitches are important for a firm miniature shape.
Skill Level
This pattern is best for an adventurous beginner to intermediate crocheter. Most parts use single crochet, increases, decreases, simple shaping, surface crochet, and sewing. The many tiny pieces make the project detailed, but each piece is small and manageable.
Materials
- Worsted weight yarn in grass green, cream, terracotta, brown, tan, white, gray, black, pink, yellow, red, lavender, blue, mint, burgundy, orange, and dark green.
- DK weight yarn or embroidery floss for tiny flowers, writing, window lines, sheep faces, and bunting string.
- 3.0 mm crochet hook for the cottage, base, animals, stalls, and main pieces.
- 2.25 mm crochet hook for tiny flowers, jars, mini yarn balls, and facial details.
- Polyester fiberfill.
- Cardboard, plastic canvas, or foam board for firm cottage walls, roof, base inserts, and table tops.
- Yarn needle, sewing pins, stitch markers, scissors.
- Small wooden beads or crocheted bobbles for door knob and pole toppers.

Important Construction Notes
Work amigurumi pieces in continuous rounds unless a row instruction is given. Use a stitch marker to mark the first stitch of each round. Stuff firmly but not so tightly that the pieces stretch out of shape.
The cottage is made from flat crochet panels wrapped around firm inserts. This keeps the walls straight, the roof crisp, and the market scene stable. The roof is made separately with rows of bobble-like scallops to match the textured terracotta tiles in the image.
Use the finished image as your placement guide. The cottage sits at the back center of the round grass base. The wool table is placed front left, the flower and jam table is front right, and the pathway curves toward the front edge.
Round Grass Display Base
Use grass green yarn and the 3.0 mm hook. The base is a large flat circle with a slightly raised edge. Crochet tightly so the scene can support the cottage and market pieces.

Layout and Sewing Order
Arrange everything before sewing. Pin the cottage at the back center of the grass base. The shed should point toward the back right. The porch should face the path.
- Sew the cottage to the grass base first.
- Sew the porch in front of the cottage.
- Sew the stone path from the porch to the front edge.
- Attach the apple tree to the left side.
- Sew the left wool table and crates in front of the tree.
- Sew the right fence and small sheep near the shed.
- Sew the right flower table at the front right.
- Add shrubs, flower pots, puffs, signs, and animals.
- Attach bunting poles last so they stay upright and visible.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
Faces: Use black embroidery floss for all eyes. Keep stitches tiny and symmetrical. Add small brown or black noses with a V stitch. For the sheep, place eyes slightly wide apart to create a soft, gentle expression.
Sheep texture: Add extra white loop stitches around the sheep heads and bodies after assembly. This helps match the woolly look in the image. Keep the face area mostly smooth so the expression remains visible.
Cottage details: Sew the door and windows onto the front wall after the cottage is assembled. Add brown vertical lines to the door and window frames. Add white curtain stitches inside each window.
Market details: Scatter yarn balls naturally. Place the larger skeins on the porch and left table. Keep jam jars and cookies on the right table. Add flowers around every table corner for a full market look.
Care Notes
- Spot clean only if cardboard or foam board inserts are used.
- Use a damp cloth and mild soap for dusty areas.
- Do not soak the cottage, roof, signs, or tables if they contain paper inserts.
- Let the display air dry completely before storing.
- Keep away from direct sunlight to protect the pastel yarn colors.
Quick Checklist Before You Finish
- Cottage is centered and firmly attached to the round base.
- Roof sits slightly wider than the cottage walls.
- Door, windows, porch, and sign are straight.
- Path curves naturally from the porch to the front edge.
- Left side has yarn balls, sheep, crate, table, flowers, and bunting.
- Right side has flower table, jam jars, cookies, fence, sheep, bee, and bunting.
- All animals have embroidered faces and secure heads.
- Small pieces are sewn firmly if the display will be moved often.
Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
Use a soft makeup brush or small clean paintbrush to remove dust from roof tiles, flowers, sheep wool loops, and yarn balls. Brush gently in one direction so the tiny sewn details do not loosen.
For deeper cleaning, dab only the stained area with cool water and a small amount of mild soap. Press with a dry towel. Do not rub the flowers, signs, embroidered letters, or sheep faces.
Store the cottage display in a box with tissue paper around the bunting poles, bee wire, and flower stems. Avoid stacking heavy items on top, because the roof tiles and small market accessories can flatten over time.
If a small piece becomes loose, sew it back with matching yarn and a sharp yarn needle. For display pieces with wire, check the wire ends occasionally and cover any exposed end with yarn or a small stitch.
