Finished Size
Using medium weight yarn and a 3.25 mm hook, the seated crocodile measures about 15.5 inches from the top of the pom-pom to the sandal soles. The legs hang about 5.5 inches. The fish bag measures about 2.75 inches wide.
Skill Level
This pattern is best for an adventurous beginner or intermediate crocheter. Most pieces use single crochet in continuous rounds, with clear increases, decreases, color changes, surface details, and shaped accessories.

- dec = single crochet 2 stitches together
- BLO = back loop only

Gauge and Crochet Notes
Gauge is not critical, but the stitches must be tight enough so the stuffing does not show. For a firm amigurumi fabric, make 6 sc and 7 rounds per 1 inch with your main green yarn.
Work most pieces in continuous rounds unless the instruction says to join. Place a stitch marker in the first stitch of every round. Stuff the head, body, legs, and arms firmly but do not overstuff the mouth edges.
The crocodile has a tall pear-shaped head, a large protruding upper snout, a separate lower jaw, and a black inner mouth. The upper mouth lip points slightly downward, while the lower jaw sits forward and open.

Stuff the body firmly. Keep the top flat enough for sewing the large head. Fasten off, leaving a 24 inch tail for attaching the head later.
Visible Lime Neck Patch
The image shows a small light green triangular neck area between the white collar and overalls. This patch is sewn on before the collar so it peeks out naturally.

Fasten off and sew this patch at the front upper body, with the point facing down into the bib. The top edge should sit right under the crocodile head.
Crocodile Head and Open Mouth
The head is made in three main pieces: a tall back head, a light lime upper snout panel, and a black-lined lower jaw. The mouth remains open, so do not sew the upper and lower lips closed.

Fasten off. Sew this black oval inside the lower front edge of the upper snout. It should be visible as a dark shadow when the mouth is open.
Lower Jaw in Light Lime Green and Black
The lower jaw is smaller than the upper snout. It sits forward below the mouth and curves upward slightly at the corners.

Sew the black lining to the top center of the lower jaw. Lightly stuff only the underside. Do not overstuff the lip; it should look soft and slightly curved.
Joining the Head and Mouth
- Pin the bright green back head upright with the narrow end at the neck.
- Place the upper snout on the front of the head from round 9 to round 25.
- The widest lip edge should project forward about 1.25 inches beyond the back head.
- Sew the upper snout around its sides and top, leaving the lower black-lined lip open.
- Pin the lower jaw below the black opening, with the front edge extending forward.
- Sew the back edge of the lower jaw to the lower front head from round 24 to round 29.
- Use a few hidden stitches at each corner to angle the jaw upward.
The finished mouth should show a black shadow inside, a broad lime upper snout, a smaller lime lower jaw, and a visible gap wide enough for the pink tongue.
Tongue
The tongue in the image is pink, flat, and sticks out to the crocodile’s left side. It curves gently downward from the black mouth opening.
- R1: With pink, ch 10. Starting in second ch from hook, sc 8, 3 sc in last ch, work on the other side, sc 7, inc. (20)
- R2: Sc 8, inc in next 3 st, sc 8, inc. (24)

- R5: Sc around. (20)
- R6: Sc 3, dec, repeat 4 times. (16)
- R7: Sc around. (16)
Flatten the tongue without stuffing. Slip stitch the opening closed through both layers. Embroider one shallow center line with darker pink. Sew the base inside the left side of the black mouth.
Eyes
The eyes are large white raised circles sitting close together on top of the snout. The black pupils point forward and slightly downward, giving the crocodile a funny surprised expression.
Make Two White Eyeballs
- R1: With white, make 6 sc in MR. (6)
- R2: Inc around. (12)
- R3: Sc 1, inc, repeat 6 times. (18)
- R4: Sc 2, inc, repeat 6 times. (24)
- R5-R6: Sc around. (24)
- R7: Sc 2, dec, repeat 6 times. (18)
Insert or sew a black pupil at the front center of each eye between rounds 3 and 4. Lightly stuff. Fasten off with a long tail.
Eye Placement
- Pin the eyes on the upper head, touching each other at the center.
- The lower edge of each eye should sit just above the lime snout, about 2 rounds above the snout seam.
- Sew the eyes firmly to the head, catching the bottom edge so they tilt forward.
- Add one tiny white highlight stitch on each black pupil if desired.
Nostrils, Smile Lines, and Crocodile Spots
Nostrils
- With dark green yarn, embroider two short horizontal nostril lines on the top front of the upper snout.
- Place them 8 stitches apart and about 5 rounds above the mouth opening.
- Each nostril is 3 stitches wide.
Snout Smile Wrinkles
- With dark green yarn, embroider three curved lines on each side of the snout.
- Start each line near the mouth corner and angle it slightly upward.
- Make the top line 5 stitches long, the middle line 4 stitches long, and the bottom line 3 stitches long.
Raised Dark Green Face Spots
Make 10 small dark green spots for the snout and cheeks. These spots are not flat embroidery; they are tiny crocheted circles sewn on the lime snout and lower jaw.
- Small spot: 5 sc in MR, sl st to first sc, fasten off.
- Medium spot: 6 sc in MR, sl st to first sc, fasten off.
- Large spot: 6 sc in MR, inc around, sl st to first sc. (12)
- Sew 2 large spots on the lower jaw front.
- Sew 2 medium spots near the right cheek.
- Sew 2 medium spots near the left cheek.
- Sew 4 small spots scattered across the center upper snout.
Tiny Lime Yellow Body Dots
Use lime yellow yarn to embroider small French knot dots on the arms, legs, face, and body. Keep them uneven and natural, like the image.
- Add 6 dots on each leg.
- Add 3 dots on each arm.
- Add 8 dots around the snout and cheeks.
- Add 4 dots on the visible green neck and lower belly.
Legs
The crocodile has two long hanging green legs. Each leg is narrow, straight, and ends in three rounded toes tucked into red sandals.

Place these small pieces beside the crocodile near the fishing rod. They create the same busy fishing setup shown in the image.

- R2: Inc around. (12)
- R3: Sc 1, inc, repeat 6 times. (18)
- R4: BLO sc around. (18)
- R5: Change to blue, sc around. (18)

Stuff lightly. Close with decreases. Wrap gray yarn around the center 5 times to imitate fishing line.
Orange Bait Worm
- R1: With orange, make 5 sc in MR. (5)
- R2-R14: Sc around. (5)

Flatten and sew closed. Add a red bead-like yarn stitch at one end and two gray chain loops at the bottom as hooks.
Assembly Order
Use pins generously before sewing. The doll has many layers, so the best result comes from checking the seated pose after each major piece is attached.
- Sew the legs to the lower front body between rounds 6 and 9, leaving about 5 stitches between them.
- Pull the overall shorts over the body and legs. Sew the shorts to the waist and around the leg openings.
- Sew the front bib to the body, centered between the legs and neck.
- Sew the white collar around the upper body, over the bib top.
- Sew the head to the body, keeping the mouth front centered over the bib.
- Sew the arms under the sleeves at the sides of the body, angled downward.
- Sew the toes to the feet, then sew the red sandals under and over the toes.
- Attach the fish bag strap diagonally across the chest and sew the bag at the right hip.
- Place the hat behind the eyes and sew it down securely.
- Add the fishing rod, spool, lure, worm, bobber, and picnic basket as loose display props or sew them lightly to the scene.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
After the main sewing is complete, check the crocodile from the front. The eyes should sit high and close together. The upper lip should hang over the black mouth opening, and the tongue should come out toward the left side.
Add final dark green wrinkle lines beside the mouth corners. Add the raised cheek spots, lime yellow dots, and tiny body freckles after the head is sewn on, so the placement looks balanced.
Use short hidden stitches to keep the mouth open. If the lower jaw drops too much, tack each mouth corner to the side of the upper snout with matching lime green yarn.
Care Notes
- Spot clean gently with cool water and mild soap.
- Do not soak the doll if cardboard or wire was used inside the basket or fishing rod.
- Reshape the mouth, hat, bag, and sandals while damp.
- Dry flat in a shaded, airy place.
Quick Checklist Before You Finish
- The crocodile has a wide open black mouth and visible pink tongue.
- The large white eyes touch at the center and face forward.
- The gray, blue, mustard, and beige striped beanie has a pom-pom.
- The blue overalls include mustard yellow stripes across the bib.
- The white collar sits above the bib and frames the neck.
- The fish bag has turquoise and tan sections, fish decorations, and a red heart patch.
- The red sandals show green toes and tiny mushroom charms.
- The fishing rod, bobber, spool, lure, worm, and picnic basket are included.
Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
Store the crocodile in a dry place away from direct sunlight. Bright green, red, and blue yarns can fade if displayed in strong light for long periods.
For dust removal, use a soft brush around the eyes, mouth opening, hat brim, bag flap, and sandal details. Brush gently so the small sewn accessories do not loosen.
If the doll is made for a child, replace wire with firm crocheted chains and sew all accessories securely. Safety eyes should be replaced with embroidered eyes for children under three years old.
To refresh the shape, lightly steam from a safe distance without pressing the stitches. Use your fingers to reshape the snout, collar, overalls, and bag while the yarn is warm, then let everything cool fully.
