Pattern Overview

This pattern is written in US crochet terms. The main doll is worked in continuous rounds unless a row instruction says otherwise. Use a stitch marker at the first stitch of every round. Stuff firmly, but shape gently so the head stays round, the body stays slim, and the dress keeps its bell shape.

  • Finished size: about 12 inches tall using sport weight yarn and a 2.25 mm hook.
  • Skill level: confident beginner to intermediate.
  • Main style: large head, slim body, long legs, rounded shoes, big embroidered eyes, fluffy side-swept mane, pastel dress, tiny accessories.
  • Gauge: 8 sc x 8 rounds equals about 1 inch in amigurumi tension.

Materials

  • Sport weight cotton yarn in cream white, peach skin tone, pastel yellow, aqua, mint, lavender, pink, pale yellow, black, red, beige, tan, and white.
  • Fluffy or brushed yarn in bright pastel yellow for the mane, or regular yarn brushed after attaching.
  • 2.25 mm crochet hook for the doll and dress.
  • 2.00 mm crochet hook for flowers, bees, eye details, and tea accessories.
  • Fiberfill stuffing.
  • Yarn needle, long embroidery needle, pins, stitch markers, scissors.
  • Black felt or safety nose, about 10 mm wide, or embroider the nose with black yarn.
  • Optional thin wire for the bag strap and hat brim, only if the finished toy is for display.
  • Pink blush powder or pink embroidery floss for the cheek stripes.

Color and Shape Notes

The doll in the image has a cream-white pony face with a peach body and limbs. The head is large and round, with a small white muzzle, upright ears, large turquoise eyes, pink cheeks, and a yellow mane sweeping across the forehead. The body is narrow because the dress supplies most of the shape.

The dress is a pastel striped sundress with shoulder straps, a fitted bodice, a rounded skirt, raised rib texture, white daisies, tiny yellow-and-black bees, and scalloped pastel petals along the hem. Work the dress separately from the body so it sits cleanly over the torso.

Head

Use cream white yarn. Work in continuous rounds. Stuff gradually and firmly. Keep the final head shape round with a slightly flattened front where the face details will sit.

Sew the muzzle to the lower center of the face. Pin it first so the widest part lies horizontally. Stitch around the edge neatly, keeping the muzzle softly raised but not bulky.

Nose and Mouth

  • Embroider a small black heart-shaped nose over the upper center of the muzzle, about 4 stitches wide and 3 rounds tall.
  • Make one short vertical black stitch from the nose down 2 rounds.
  • With red yarn, make a tiny V-shaped mouth under the black line. Each side of the V is about 1 stitch long.

Ears

Make 2 outer ears in cream white and 2 inner ears in pink. The ears are triangular with soft rounded corners. They sit behind the mane, near the top sides of the head.

Outer Ear

  1. R1: 6 sc in MR. 6 sts.
  2. R2: sc around. 6 sts.
  3. R3: repeat sc 1, inc around. 9 sts.

  8. R8: sc around. 18 sts.
  9. Flatten the ear. Do not stuff. Sc through both layers for 9 sts. FO with a long tail.

Inner Ear Patch

  1. R1: ch 5. Starting in second ch from hook, sc 3, 3 sc in last ch, work on other side, sc 2, inc. 10 sts.
  2. R2: sc 1, hdc 2, dc 2, hdc 2, sc 3. FO.

Sew one pink patch to the front center of each cream ear. Attach ears between head R7 and R13, with about 18 stitches between them across the top. Angle each ear outward slightly, about 20 degrees, so they peek from behind the yellow hair.

Body

Use peach skin tone yarn. The body is narrow at the neck and wider at the hips so the dress can sit naturally. Stuff firmly at the hips and lightly at the neck.

  1. R1: 6 sc in MR. 6 sts.
  2. R2: inc around. 12 sts.
  3. R3: repeat sc 1, inc around. 18 sts.

  12. R21-R23: sc around. 12 sts.
  13. FO with a long tail for sewing the head to the body.

Legs

Make 2 legs in peach skin tone. The legs are long and slim. The shoes are worked separately and placed over the feet so they look like chunky cream-and-aqua Mary Jane shoes.

  1. R1: 6 sc in MR. 6 sts.
  2. R2: inc around. 12 sts.
  3. R3: repeat sc 1, inc around. 18 sts.
  4. R4-R5: sc around. 18 sts.
  5. R6: sc 5, dec 4 times, sc 5. 14 sts.
  6. R7: sc 4, dec 3 times, sc 4. 11 sts.
  7. R8-R25: sc around. 11 sts for 18 rounds.
  8. Stuff the lower leg firmly and the upper leg lightly.
  9. R26: flatten the top and sc through both layers for 5 sts. FO with a long tail.

Sew the legs to the bottom front of the body between R3 and R5 of the body base. Place them about 4 stitches apart. The feet should point forward and hang straight down below the dress.

Arms

Make 2 arms in peach skin tone. They are slim, rounded at the hands, and long enough to reach the side of the skirt and bag.

  1. R1: 6 sc in MR. 6 sts.
  2. R2: repeat sc 1, inc around. 9 sts.
  3. R3-R5: sc around. 9 sts.
  4. R6: bobble in first st for thumb, sc 8. 9 sts.
  5. R7-R22: sc around. 9 sts for 16 rounds.
  6. Stuff the hand firmly and the arm very lightly.
  7. R23: flatten and sc through both layers for 4 sts. FO with a long tail.

Sew arms to the upper body at R20, one on each side. Angle them slightly downward. The right arm may rest near the teacup bag, and the left arm should hang close to the skirt.

Neck and Head Attachment

Place the head over the body neck so the muzzle faces forward and the body is centered under the chin. Use pins to keep the large head stable before sewing. Sew twice around the neck opening using peach or cream yarn, catching both the body neck and the lower head stitches.

  • Add extra stitches at the back of the neck to prevent wobbling.
  • Keep the face slightly tilted downward for the sweet doll-like expression.
  • Do not attach the mane before sewing the head, because the neck seam is easier to control first.

Large Embroidered Eyes

The eyes are oversized, bright, and placed wide apart. The center of each eye sits between head R15 and R18. Leave about 7 stitches between the inner eye edges. Use turquoise, black, white, red, and black embroidery yarn.

Eye Base Patches

Make 2 turquoise eye ovals with a 2.00 mm hook.

  1. R1: ch 7. Starting in second ch from hook, sc 5, 3 sc in last ch, work on other side, sc 4, inc. 14 sts.
  2. R2: inc, sc 4, inc 3 times, sc 4, inc 2 times. 20 sts.
  3. FO, leaving a sewing tail.

Sew each turquoise oval to the face vertically, slightly tilted. The outer top edge of each eye should sit a little higher than the inner edge, giving a cute animated expression.

Eye Embroidery

  • Use black yarn to outline each turquoise oval with small backstitches.
  • Fill a black oval pupil over the lower inner half of each turquoise eye, about 4 stitches wide.
  • Add 2 white highlight stitches on each pupil: one larger oval at the upper left and one tiny dot below it.
  • Add one short red crescent stitch on the outer side of each iris.
  • Use black yarn to embroider 4 upper lashes on each eye. Make the lashes curve upward and outward.
  • Add a thin black lower lash line with 2 short stitches under each eye.

Cheeks

The cheeks are soft pink stripes on both sides of the muzzle. Use pink embroidery floss or surface crochet with pink yarn.

  • On each cheek, make 4 horizontal pink stitches.
  • Each stripe should be 3 to 4 stitches wide.
  • Place the cheek stripes from head R18 to R21.
  • Keep the stripes slightly diagonal, rising toward the outer face.

Yellow Mane Hair Cap

The pony girl has a thick yellow mane swept across the forehead and down both sides. Use pastel yellow yarn for the base cap and fluffy yellow yarn or brushed strands for the loose hair.

Hair Cap

  1. R1: 6 sc in MR. 6 sts.

  11. R16: sc 18, hdc 12, dc 8, hdc 8, sc 8. 54 sts.
  12. FO with a long tail.

Place the cap on the top of the head. The front edge should dip low over the forehead and cover part of the upper eye area, especially on the doll’s left side. Sew around the edge with yellow yarn.

Long Mane Strands

  • Cut 70 strands of fluffy yellow yarn, each 8 inches long.
  • Attach 24 strands along the front hairline using latch-hook knots.
  • Attach 18 strands down the doll’s left side, from ear to cheek level.
  • Attach 18 strands down the doll’s right side, shorter near the bow side.
  • Attach 10 strands at the back crown for fullness.

Brush or separate the yarn gently. Trim the front into a side-swept fringe that crosses the forehead and points toward the center of the face. Keep the sides feathered and soft, like the image.

Optional Small Dress Ruffles

The dress in the image has raised pastel texture. To add extra dimension, work surface crochet lines around the skirt at R4, R8, and R12.

  • Use cream yarn for one thin line above the middle daisies.
  • Use aqua yarn for one line above the hem.
  • Use pale pink yarn for one line below the bodice.
  • Keep all joins at the back center of the dress.

Final Assembly and Facial Detailing

  1. Sew the head securely to the neck, keeping the face centered over the body.
  2. Put the dress on the body from the feet upward before attaching the shoes permanently if needed.
  3. Sew the arms after the dress is positioned so the shoulders sit neatly over the straps.
  4. Attach the ears, then sew the yellow hair cap over the crown and ear bases.
  5. Add the long yellow mane strands and trim them into a side-swept fringe.
  6. Sew the pink bow on the doll’s right side, slightly above the eye line.
  7. Sew the muzzle, nose, mouth, eyes, lashes, and cheeks with careful symmetry.
  8. Add daisies and bees to the dress only after the skirt is shaped.
  9. Attach the bag strap across the body and let the bag rest against the skirt.
  10. Place the sun hat and tea accessories beside the doll for the complete display.

Care Notes

  • Spot clean only with cool water and mild soap.
  • Do not soak the doll because the brushed mane may lose shape.
  • Reshape the dress scallops with your fingers while damp.
  • Let the doll air dry flat on a towel.
  • Keep away from direct sunlight to protect the pastel colors.

Quick Checklist Before You Finish

  • The head is round, large, and stable on the narrow body.
  • The yellow mane sweeps across the forehead and frames both sides of the face.
  • The pink bow sits high on the right side.
  • The eyes are large, turquoise, shiny, and outlined with black lashes.
  • The cheeks have soft pink horizontal stripes.
  • The dress has pastel stripes, daisies, bees, and scalloped trim.
  • The shoes are chunky with aqua straps and tiny flowers.
  • The crossbody bag has a floral front and rests near the hip.
  • The sun hat has a wide cream brim, aqua trim, and pastel roses.
  • The tea set includes the doily, cup, saucer, plate, and macarons.

Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines

Use a soft brush to remove dust from the mane, bow, dress flowers, bees, and hat roses. Work slowly around embroidered details so small stitches do not loosen. For the face, dab with a barely damp cloth instead of rubbing.

Store the doll upright or lying flat in a breathable cotton bag. Keep the sun hat brim flat by placing tissue under it. Avoid heavy objects on top of the doll because the bow, ears, bag, and skirt scallops can flatten over time.

If the mane becomes messy, separate the strands with your fingers first. Trim only tiny amounts at a time. For best display, place the tea set and sun hat beside the doll, just like a garden picnic scene.
