Important Pattern Notes

  • Work the amigurumi pieces in continuous spirals unless a joined round is specifically stated.
  • Place a stitch marker in the first stitch of every round.
  • Stuff the head and body firmly, but do not stretch the stitches enough to expose the filling.
  • Stuff the ears, clothing, bag, hat, basket, and vegetables only where instructed.
  • Use the yarn-under single crochet method for compact, defined amigurumi stitches.
  • Pin every part in place before sewing to confirm symmetry and proportion.
  • For a child-safe toy, embroider the pupils and omit wire, pellets, buttons, beads, and removable accessories.

Crossed Straps

  1. Make four straps by chaining 24 with light beige yarn.
  2. Starting in the second ch, work 23 sc.
  3. FO with long sewing tails.
  4. Sew two straps diagonally across each sandal, forming an open diamond above the green insert.
  5. Secure each strap approximately 6 stitches behind the toe and 9 stitches forward from the heel.

Heel Straps

  1. Make two by chaining 32 with tan yarn.
  2. Starting in the second ch, work 31 sc.
  3. Ch 1, turn, and work 31 sl st BLO.

Sew one end to each side of the sandal near the heel. Curve the strap around the back of the sock and secure it with a small hidden stitch.

Ladybug Decorations

Make two. With red yarn, work 6 sc in an MR, then inc around for 12 sts. FO. Embroider a black center line and two black spots. Add a small black head using three satin stitches.

Sew one ladybug to the outer front strap of each sandal. Position the ladybugs facing slightly upward so they remain visible when the sheep is seated.

Attaching the Legs and Dressing the Body

  1. Place the body upright with the round marker line centered at the back.
  2. Pin the flattened top of each leg to the lower front of the body between Rnds 7 and 13.
  3. Leave approximately 1 inch between the legs.
  4. Angle the legs forward so they extend naturally when the figure is seated.
  5. Sew each flattened leg top to the body twice using cream yarn.
  6. Pull the trouser legs over the leg cores and slide the joined waistband over the hips.
  7. Sew the upper waistband to the body with matching tan yarn.
  8. Pull the striped socks down over the exposed lower legs.
  9. Slide the sandals onto the feet and secure them invisibly through the socks and sole layers.

Attaching the Arms

Pin the arms beneath the head opening at the sides of the body. The upper edges should sit between Body Rnds 35 and 39. Angle the arms slightly forward and allow the hands to rest beside the thighs.

Sew through the flattened upper arm and body several times. Keep the stitches within a narrow horizontal line so the arms retain a small amount of movement.

Attaching the Head

  1. Center the lower back portion of the head over the 24-stitch body opening.
  2. The broad muzzle should project forward while the narrow crown remains upright.
  3. Pin the head at the front, back, and both sides.
  4. Sew through one head stitch and one body stitch around the full opening.
  5. Complete a second reinforcing round of stitches approximately one round above the first seam.
  6. Add small amounts of stuffing through any remaining gap before closing completely.

Final Assembly and Facial Detailing

Confirm that the eyes touch at the center and sit level beneath the wool cap. Adjust the ears so they curve downward evenly. Add one tiny white embroidered highlight to each black pupil if desired.

Place the sunflower above the right ear. Arrange the crossbody strap over the left shoulder and position the lace bag at the right hip. Set the garden hat beside the figure and place the filled vegetable basket near the opposite foot.

  • Keep the finished figure away from open flames, heaters, and prolonged direct sunlight.

  • The socks show matching stripe sequences.
  • The sandal straps are secure and the ladybugs face outward.

Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines

For routine care, remove surface dust with a soft, clean brush. Use gentle strokes across the wool cap, cable overalls, bag, and hat brim. A lint roller should not be used on textured or fuzzy yarn because it may pull loops from the fabric.

To clean a small mark, mix a drop of mild detergent with cool water. Dab the area using a white cloth, then blot with a second damp cloth. Do not rub the stitches. Reshape the cleaned area and allow it to air-dry completely.

If the figure contains no wire, pellets, felt, ribbon, or safety eyes, it may be carefully hand-washed in cool water. Press out moisture between towels without twisting. Dry the figure flat, reshape the muzzle and clothing, and turn it regularly until every stuffed section is fully dry.

For long-term storage, wrap the sheep loosely in acid-free tissue paper and place it in a breathable container. Do not compress the head, ears, sunflower, basket handle, hat brim, or sandal straps. Store the figure in a cool, dry space away from moisture and strong light.
