Gauge and Construction Notes
Work tightly so stuffing does not show through the stitches. The monkey in the image has compact, even stitches with a firm amigurumi texture. Use a smaller hook than your yarn label recommends. If your stitches look loose, go down one hook size.
The doll is worked mostly in continuous spiral rounds. Do not join rounds unless the pattern says to join. Place a stitch marker in the first stitch of every round. Stuff gradually and firmly, especially in the head, muzzle, feet, and body.
The monkey has a large rounded head, a broad beige face panel, a protruding rounded muzzle, large round ears, slim brown arms and legs, beige hands and feet, and a short compact body hidden under green overalls. The facial expression depends on shaping and embroidery, so do not rush that part.
Main Head in Dark Brown
The head is rounded with a slightly large amigurumi proportion. The beige face panel and muzzle are sewn onto the front later, creating the soft monkey face seen in the photo.

Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
Check the face before finishing. The eyes should be large, glossy, and evenly spaced. The muzzle should sit centered and slightly raised. The smile should be wide and gentle, with the small pink tongue at the middle bottom.

- Add stuffing under the muzzle before closing the final inch of stitching.
- Shape the cheeks by adding tiny freckles on both sides of the muzzle.
- Sew the ears at the same height and angle.
- Attach the sunflower near the top right side of the face.
- Place the satchel strap over one shoulder or display it beside the doll.
- Display the peeled banana and straw hat as matching garden accessories.
Care Notes
Spot clean the finished monkey with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid soaking the doll because the tiny vegetables, embroidered flowers, buttons, and satchel applique may shift if handled roughly while wet.
Let the doll air dry flat on a towel. Do not use high heat. If the hat brim curls too much, gently reshape it with your fingers while it is slightly damp.
Quick Checklist Before You Finish
- The head is round, large, and firmly stuffed.

Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
Store the monkey away from direct sunlight to protect the soft browns, greens, blues, and yellows. Keep it in a dry place with enough space around the hat brim, ears, and sunflower so the shaped pieces do not flatten.
If the doll is displayed on a shelf, dust it gently with a soft brush. For the tiny pocket vegetables and ladybug satchel, use light strokes only. These small details are decorative and should not be pulled.
For long-term storage, wrap the doll loosely in acid-free tissue paper or clean cotton fabric. Do not compress the face, ears, sandals, or straw hat. With gentle care, this garden monkey will keep its bright handmade charm for many seasons.
