This sweet knitted white tiger cub is made with a round oversized head, soft white muzzle, gray tiger stripes, bright blue eyes, a sky-blue Fair Isle cardigan, matching blue flower satchel, flower sandals, and a small floral headpiece. The scene also includes a knitted straw sun hat, tiny watering can, and potted succulent, giving the finished toy the same gentle garden-table look as the image.
Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.
Finished Size
- Tiger cub height: about 11 inches from sandal sole to top of head when worked with DK yarn and tight toy-knitting gauge.
- Head width: about 5 inches across, with a large rounded cub shape.
- Cardigan length: about 4 inches from shoulder to lower front edge.
- Satchel: about 2 inches wide, worn diagonally across the chest.
- Sun hat: about 4 inches across including brim.
Materials
- DK weight yarn in warm white for head, body, arms, legs, ears, muzzle, and toes.
- DK weight yarn in light gray and charcoal gray for tiger stripes and ear edging.
- DK weight yarn in sky blue for cardigan, satchel, sandals, and hat ribbon.
- DK weight yarn in cream beige for front belly panel under the open cardigan.
- Small amounts of brown for nose embroidery and plant pot.
- Small amounts of pale pink, lavender, peach, cream, blue, yellow, and green for flowers and leaves.
- Small amount of straw beige yarn for sun hat.
- Small amount of muted blue-gray yarn for watering can.
- Small amount of sage green yarn for succulent leaves.
- US 2 or US 3 double-pointed needles, or size needed to make a firm stuffed fabric.
- US 2 or US 3 straight needles for flat pieces.
- Two 12 mm blue safety eyes, or black safety eyes with blue embroidered rings.
- Fiberfill stuffing.
- Tapestry needle.
- Stitch markers.
- Scrap yarn for holding stitches.
Gauge
Work at a tight toy-knitting gauge so the stuffing does not show. A good target is 7 stitches and 10 rounds per inch in stockinette stitch after stuffing. Exact gauge is less important than a firm fabric, but keep all body pieces consistent so the tiger keeps the rounded cub proportions shown in the image.

Pattern Notes
- The tiger is knitted mostly in the round from small openings and stuffed firmly as you go.
- The head is intentionally larger than the body, matching the image’s plush cub style.
- Gray tiger markings may be worked by stranded knitting, duplicate stitch, or surface embroidery. Duplicate stitch is easiest for beginners and gives the cleanest placement.
- The cardigan is knitted flat with sleeves added separately, then sewn onto the tiger so it stays open at the front.
- The cardigan has white Fair Isle flower-like motifs on the blue body and sleeves. These are given as exact stitch placement rows below.
- The sandals are knitted separately in blue and sewn over the white feet, leaving the white toes visible.
White Tiger Head
The head is a round, slightly wide oval with a soft lower cheek area and a centered muzzle. Work in warm white yarn unless a stripe placement is stated later.
- Rnd 1: CO 8 sts onto double-pointed needles. Join in the round, being careful not to twist.
- Rnd 2: kfb in every st around. 16 sts.

Insert the safety eyes between Rnds 24 and 25, placing them 12 stitches apart across the front center. For the bright blue-eye look, embroider a sky-blue ring around each eye after the head is stuffed. Begin stuffing the head firmly, shaping the cheeks round and smooth.
- Rnd 38: k4, k2tog, repeat around. 40 sts.
- Rnd 39: k all sts.
- Rnd 40: k3, k2tog, repeat around. 32 sts.
- Rnd 41: k2, k2tog, repeat around. 24 sts.
- Rnd 42: k1, k2tog, repeat around. 16 sts.
- Rnd 43: k2tog around. 8 sts.
Cut yarn, thread through remaining 8 sts, pull closed, and weave in securely. Add more stuffing through the lower opening before closing if needed. The head should be round, plush, and slightly wider at the cheek line.
White Muzzle
The muzzle is an oval white pad sewn onto the lower front of the face. It sits below the eyes and creates the soft cub expression shown in the image.
- Rnd 1: CO 6 sts in warm white and join in the round.
- Rnd 2: kfb in every st around. 12 sts.
- Rnd 3: k1, kfb, repeat around. 18 sts.
- Rnd 4: k2, kfb, repeat around. 24 sts.
- Rnds 5-7: k all sts for 3 rnds.
- Rnd 8: k2, k2tog, repeat around. 18 sts.
- Rnd 9: k1, k2tog, repeat around. 12 sts.
Stuff lightly only in the center. BO all sts, leaving a long sewing tail. Pin the muzzle from Rnds 26-34 of the head, centered between the eyes. Sew around the edge with small mattress stitches, keeping the top flatter and the lower edge rounded.
Nose and Mouth Embroidery
- Use brown yarn to embroider a horizontal oval nose over the upper center of the muzzle.
- Make the nose 5 stitches wide and 3 rows tall.
- Work 8-10 satin stitches across the nose, then wrap once around the outer edge to smooth it.
- With charcoal gray or dark brown, stitch one short vertical line down from the nose for 4 rows.
- Add a tiny split line at the bottom to make a soft upside-down Y mouth.
Tiger Stripe Placement on Head
The head stripes are what make the toy read clearly as a white tiger cub. Use light gray first, then add a few charcoal gray accent lines over the center of selected stripes.
Center Forehead Stripes
- Place one tall V stripe beginning between the ears at Rnd 12 and pointing down to Rnd 22 between the eyes.
- Each side of the V is 2 stitches wide. Work it in light gray duplicate stitch.
- Add a charcoal gray single-stitch line inside each side of the V from Rnd 15 to Rnd 20.
- Above the V, add three short vertical marks, each 2 stitches wide and 4 rows tall, spaced 3 stitches apart.
Side Face Stripes
- On each cheek, add three angled gray stripes.
- Upper cheek stripe: 5 stitches long, slanting from Rnd 22 near the eye outward to Rnd 25.
- Middle cheek stripe: 6 stitches long, slanting from Rnd 27 outward to Rnd 30.
- Lower cheek stripe: 4 stitches long, slanting from Rnd 31 outward to Rnd 33.
- Keep the left and right sides mirrored so the face looks balanced.
Top Head Stripes
- Add two curved gray stripes on the top left and two curved gray stripes on the top right.
- Each stripe is 7-9 stitches long, worked from the crown toward the ear.
- Keep them slightly irregular for the natural tiger look shown in the image.
Ears
Make two rounded ears. Each ear has a white inner center and gray edging. The ears sit high and wide on the head, angled outward like soft semicircles.

Sew each white inner ear to a gray outer ear. Add a charcoal gray line around the outside edge using backstitch. Pin ears between Rnds 12 and 22 of the head, set about 20 stitches apart across the crown. Angle each ear outward at about 35 degrees. Sew firmly along the lower half of each ear so the upper edge remains slightly lifted.
Body
The body is smaller than the head, with a soft white lower belly and a cream beige front panel visible under the open cardigan. Work the main body in warm white.

Stuff the body firmly, making the lower belly rounded and the upper chest narrower. BO all sts, leaving a long tail. Sew the body to the bottom of the head with the neck tucked slightly upward so the cub has a seated, front-facing pose.
Cream Front Belly Panel
This cream ribbed panel sits under the open blue cardigan and shows down the center front, just like the pale knitted shirt area in the image.
- Row 1: CO 14 sts in cream beige.
- Rows 2-4: work k1, p1 rib across each row.
- Row 5: k all sts.
- Row 6: p all sts.
- Rows 7-24: repeat Rows 5-6.

Feet and Toe Shaping
The foot section is already part of each leg, but the image shows visible white toes. Use charcoal gray embroidery to divide the front of each foot.
- On each foot, embroider 4 vertical toe lines at the front.
- Each line should be 4 rows tall, beginning at the sole edge and moving upward.
- Pull each stitch gently to create a slight groove, but do not distort the foot.
- Add one short gray stripe on the outer side of each ankle, 3 stitches wide.
Arms, Make 2
The arms are white at the paws with short blue cardigan sleeves covering the upper arm. Knit the arm first in white, then sew the blue sleeve over it.
- Rnd 1: CO 8 sts in warm white. Join in the round.
- Rnd 2: kfb in every st around. 16 sts.
- Rnds 3-8: k all sts.
- Rnd 9: k6, k2tog, k6, k2tog. 14 sts.
- Rnds 10-18: k all sts.
- Rnd 19: k5, k2tog, k5, k2tog. 12 sts.
- Rnds 20-22: k all sts.
- Rnd 23: k2tog around. 6 sts.
Stuff the paw firmly and the upper arm lightly. Cut yarn, draw through remaining sts, and close. Sew one arm to each side of the upper body at Rnds 24-27 of the body. Angle the arms downward so the paws peek out below the cardigan sleeves.
Paw Details
- With pale pink yarn, embroider one small oval pad on the lower inside of each paw.
- Add two tiny pale pink straight stitches above each pad for soft cub paw marks.
- Keep the embroidery subtle because the image shows mostly white paws with only a hint of pink at the wrist area.
Tail
The tail is short and mostly hidden behind the seated body, but it helps balance the cub when sitting.
- Rnd 1: CO 8 sts in warm white. Join in the round.
- Rnds 2-5: k all sts in warm white.
- Rnd 6: with light gray, k all sts.
- Rnd 7: with warm white, k all sts.
- Rnd 8: with light gray, k all sts.
- Rnds 9-12: with warm white, k all sts.
- Rnd 13: k2tog around. 4 sts.
Stuff lightly, close the tip, and sew to the back lower body. Curve it slightly to one side so it does not push the toy forward.
Blue Fair Isle Cardigan

- Row 4: p2tog. 1 st.
- Fasten off and weave the tail to the base.
- Sew 6 leaves around the outer soil circle and 4 leaves standing upright in the center.
Extra White Tiger Body Stripes
Add the smaller body stripes after the cardigan is fitted. Only the visible legs, head, and lower body need stripes because the blue cardigan covers most of the torso.
- Add two light gray bands around each leg as described in the leg instructions.
- Add one short charcoal accent stitch on the outer side of each band.
- Add two small gray side stripes on the lower belly where the cardigan opens near the legs.
- Add one curved gray stripe near each wrist, partly hidden under the sleeve.
- Do not overfill the white areas; the image has clean white fur with carefully spaced gray markings.
Blue Eye Detailing
The eyes are bright and round. To copy the image, use a black center with a blue ring and a tiny white highlight.
- If using blue safety eyes, add one tiny white stitch at the upper outer edge of each eye.
- If using black safety eyes, embroider a sky-blue ring around each eye using split stitch.
- Work the ring close to the eye edge so it looks like a colored iris, not a large outline.
- Add one short black eyelash stitch at the outer corner of each eye if desired.
Assembly Order
- Stuff and close the head.
- Sew the muzzle to the lower face.
- Add nose, mouth, eye rings, and face stripes.
- Sew the ears high on the head, angled outward.
- Knit, stuff, and close the body.
- Sew the cream front belly panel to the body.
- Attach the head to the body securely.
- Make and attach the legs so they hang straight down.
- Make and attach the arms so the paws point slightly inward.
- Fit the blue cardigan onto the body and tack it in place.
- Add sleeves over the arms if not already sewn into the cardigan.
- Attach sandals to both feet.
- Place the satchel strap from right shoulder to left hip and tack lightly.
- Sew the floral headpiece across the upper left forehead.
- Make the sun hat, watering can, and potted succulent as separate props.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
Check the tiger from the front before tying off your last yarn tails. The head should be large and round, the ears should sit wide, and the muzzle should be centered directly below the eyes. The cardigan should remain open so the cream front panel is visible.
Add final gray stripe stitches only after the face is complete. This helps you balance the expression. Keep the forehead V stripe centered, place cheek stripes symmetrically, and make sure the blue eye rings are even.
- Head angle: sew the head straight forward with only a slight downward tilt.
- Ear angle: place ears outward at about 35 degrees.
- Arm angle: arms point down and slightly inward.
- Leg angle: legs hang down from the seated body, parallel to each other.
- Satchel position: strap crosses diagonally over the cardigan, bag resting at the tiger’s left hip.
Care Notes
This knitted white tiger cub is best used as a handmade display toy. If making it for a child, use embroidered eyes instead of safety eyes and secure every accessory with strong stitching.
- Spot clean gently with cool water.
- Do not machine wash if the toy includes safety eyes, tiny flowers, or structured props.
- Let the toy air dry fully before storing.
- Reshape the ears, cardigan, sandals, and hat brim while damp if needed.
Quick Checklist Before You Finish
- The head is round, oversized, and smoothly stuffed.
- The muzzle is centered and softly raised.
- The forehead V stripe points between the eyes.
- Both ears are symmetrical and edged in gray.
- The cardigan is blue with white Fair Isle motifs and open fronts.
- The satchel has a flower and diagonal strap.
- The sandals show white toes and small flowers.
- The floral headpiece sits near the left ear.
- The sun hat has a blue ribbon.
- The watering can and potted succulent are finished as matching props.
Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
Store the tiger in a dry place away from strong sunlight so the blue cardigan and pastel flowers stay bright. Keep the sun hat flat when not displayed, and avoid crushing the watering can spout or succulent leaves.
For dust, use a soft brush and move gently with the direction of the knitted stitches. For small marks, dab with a damp cloth and mild soap, then blot with a clean towel. Do not rub the embroidered face, flower satchel, or Fair Isle details.
When storing long term, wrap the tiger loosely in acid-free tissue or clean cotton fabric. Keep the accessories beside the toy rather than pressed underneath it. This helps preserve the rounded head, soft ears, open cardigan, flower satchel, sandals, and garden props.
