Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.
Pattern Overview
This pattern is worked mainly in continuous rounds using tight amigurumi single crochet. The chicken has a large rounded white head that slightly narrows near the lower face, a beige body hidden under the green dress, slim beige arms, yellow legs, green sandals, and many small garden details. The dress is made directly around the body, then decorated with daisies, leaves, bees, ladybugs, and white scalloped trim.
The finished doll is designed to sit neatly with the legs hanging downward, similar to the image. With sport or DK cotton yarn and a 2.25 mm hook, the finished chicken will measure about 10.5 to 12 inches tall from the bottom of the sandals to the top of the red comb.

- Confident beginner to intermediate.

Gauge
Gauge is important for a firm amigurumi shape. With the main hook, 6 sc across and 6 rounds should measure about 1 inch. Your stitches should be tight enough that stuffing does not show through. If your fabric has gaps, use a smaller hook.
Important Construction Notes
- Work most round pieces in a continuous spiral unless the pattern says to join.
- Use a stitch marker in the first stitch of every round.
- Stuff the head firmly, but do not stretch the stitches.
- Stuff the body medium-firm so the dress keeps a soft rounded bell shape.
- Stuff the legs lightly so they hang naturally.
- Sew all accessories after the main doll is complete.
- For a clean photo-like finish, hide every yarn tail inside the doll or behind decorations.

- Ch 7.
- Starting in second ch from hook, sc 1, hdc 1, dc 2, hdc 1, sc 1.
- FO, leaving a tail.
Sew leaves inside the pot in a circular cluster. Stand some leaves upright and angle some outward.
Assembly Order
- Finish the white head, comb, beak, wattle, face, and head flowers.
- Finish the beige body and green dress around it.
- Sew the head to the body, making sure the face points forward.
- Sew the arms to the sides under the neck ruffle.
- Sew the legs to the bottom of the body.
- Attach sandals and toes to the legs.
- Add dress daisies, stems, leaves, bees, and ladybugs.
- Attach the brown basket and crossbody strap.
- Add tiny vegetables and flowers inside the basket.
- Make optional garden props and place them beside the doll.
Detailed Sewing Placement
Sew the head to the body using the long beige body tail. Position the body neck against the bottom center of the head, hidden beneath the white ruffle. Stitch through the body neck and lower head several times around the full circle. The head is large, so make the seam strong.
The dress front should face the same direction as the eyes and beak. Before closing the seam completely, check that the chicken can sit upright with the legs hanging straight down. Add extra stitches at the back of the neck if the head tips forward.
The arms should be sewn slightly behind the front bib edge. This keeps them visible at both sides without covering the daisy decorations. The basket should sit on the chicken’s right side, slightly forward, so the vegetables can be seen.
Embroidery and Surface Details
- Use black thread for eyelashes, with two short stitches at each outer eye corner.
- Use soft pink yarn or blush under both eyes.
- Use dark green yarn for dress stems.
- Use black thread for bee stripes and ladybug dots.
- Use small straight stitches to secure every flower petal if the doll is for display.
- Keep the surface decorations balanced across the dress, with the largest daisies near the lower front.
Making the Doll Look Like the Image
The image has a soft, rounded, cottage garden style. To match that look, keep the white head larger than the body and make the green dress wide at the hem. The red comb should be tall and heart-like. The yellow beak should stay small and oval, while the red wattle should hang clearly below it.
Do not place the eyes too high. The cute expression comes from the eyes sitting slightly low on the face, with the beak centered between them. The cheeks should be gentle, not too bright. The flowers near the head should look like tiny clips tucked behind the face.
The dress should not be plain. Add the daisies, stems, leaves, bees, and ladybugs carefully. These small decorations create the garden character. The white scalloped hem and white neck ruffle should visually connect, giving the chicken a neat handmade lace finish.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
After all pieces are attached, check the front view. The comb should stand upright, the beak should be centered, and the wattle should hang evenly. Adjust the head flowers so they frame the face without covering the eyes.
- Secure the head with extra hidden stitches at the back.
- Brush away loose yarn fibers from the face.
- Add a final tiny pink blush layer if the cheeks look too pale.
- Shape the dress hem with your fingers so it flares evenly.
- Make sure the basket strap lies flat across the body.
Care Notes
This amigurumi is best used as a decorative handmade doll. Because it includes small flowers, buttons, bees, and embroidered details, it is not recommended for babies or pets. If making it for a young child, replace buttons and safety eyes with embroidery and sew every piece very firmly.
- Spot clean only when possible.
- Use cool water and gentle soap.
- Do not twist or wring the doll.
- Reshape the comb, dress, and basket while damp.
- Air dry flat on a clean towel.
Quick Checklist Before You Finish
- The head is firmly stuffed and smoothly rounded.
- The red comb forms two even heart-like lobes.
- The beak is centered between the eyes.
- The wattle is sewn directly below the beak.
- The green dress flares outward at the bottom.
- The white collar and hem have clear scallops.
- There are daisies, leaves, bees, and ladybugs on the dress.
- The basket is attached securely on the side.
- The sandals have visible yellow toes and red ladybugs.
- The optional hat, watering can, and potted plant match the garden theme.
Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
Store the chicken away from direct sunlight to protect the soft white head, green dress, and red comb from fading. Keep it in a dry place with good airflow. If dust collects on the flowers or basket, use a soft clean brush and gently sweep outward.
For long-term display, place the doll upright on a shelf and avoid pressing the comb against another object. The basket vegetables and small flowers can flatten if stored tightly, so wrap the doll loosely in tissue paper when packing it away.
If the dress hem curls after washing, dampen only the white trim and pin it gently into a rounded scallop shape on a towel. Let it dry fully before moving. This helps the lace edge keep the same neat garden-doll look as the finished piece.
Final Notes
Your Daisy Garden Chicken Amigurumi is complete when the doll has a large white chicken head, red heart comb, yellow beak, red wattle, green daisy dress, soft beige arms, yellow legs, green sandals, and a brown basket full of tiny garden produce. Add the optional hat, watering can, and potted plant for a full spring garden display.
