Crochet Tutorial: Sweet Floral Lamb Amigurumi – Free Crochet Pattern

This sweet floral lamb amigurumi is designed as a soft garden-themed doll with a cream lamb body, rounded face, floppy ears, tiny brown horns and hooves, curly wool cap, green floral overalls, sandals, a decorated sun hat, and a small crossbody watering can. The finished toy has a gentle sitting pose, rosy cheeks, embroidered facial details, and tiny flower accents that match the cozy cottage garden style shown in the image.

Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

Pattern Overview

This pattern is written in US crochet terms and is worked mostly in continuous rounds. The lamb is built from separate amigurumi parts, then carefully sewn together to match the image: a large rounded head, compact body, slim arms, seated legs, wide floppy ears, small horns, brown hooves, textured wool curls, floral overalls, sandals, hat, and watering can bag.

The proportions are important for the look. The head is slightly larger than the body, the ears sit low and angle outward, the horns peek above the wool cap, and the overalls sit high under the chin. The accessories should look handmade and slightly rounded, not flat or stiff.

Finished Size

  • Finished height: about 10.5 inches from top wool curls to sandal soles.
  • Seated height: about 8.5 inches when legs hang forward.
  • Head width: about 4.5 inches across the cheeks.
  • Body width with overalls: about 3.75 inches.
  • Hat width: about 4.75 inches across brim.
  • Watering can: about 2.25 inches wide including spout and handle.

Materials

  • Sport or DK weight cotton yarn in cream for lamb head, body, arms, ears, and legs.
  • Ivory or warm white yarn for curly wool cap.
  • Light pink yarn for inner ears, nose, cheek details, and flower accent.
  • Brown yarn for horns and hooves.
  • Soft green yarn for overalls, sandals, straps, pockets, and hat details.
  • Beige yarn for watering can and crossbody strap.
  • Yellow yarn for small flowers and watering can flower.
  • White yarn for tiny floral dots on overalls and hat.
  • Small amount of pale peach or blush pink embroidery thread for cheeks.
  • Black embroidery thread for mouth lines.
  • Two black safety eyes, 10 mm, or embroidered eyes if making for a young child.
  • Two small wooden-style buttons, about 8 mm, or crocheted button circles.
  • 2.25 mm crochet hook for the main toy.
  • 2.0 mm crochet hook for flowers, facial details, and straps.
  • Fiberfill stuffing.
  • Yarn needle, stitch markers, sewing pins, scissors.
  • Optional: small amount of cardboard or plastic canvas for firm sandal soles.

Abbreviations

  • MR: magic ring
  • ch: chain
  • sl st: slip stitch
  • sc: single crochet
  • hdc: half double crochet
  • dc: double crochet
  • inc: increase, 2 sc in the same stitch
  • dec: invisible decrease over 2 stitches
  • BLO: back loop only
  • FLO: front loop only
  • st: stitch
  • sts: stitches
  • R: round or row
  • FO: fasten off

Gauge and Stitch Style

Use a tight amigurumi gauge so stuffing does not show through. With a 2.25 mm hook and DK cotton, 8 sc across should measure about 1 inch. If your stitches are loose, move down one hook size. If your fabric becomes stiff and hard to shape, move up one hook size.

Work most body pieces in continuous spiral rounds. Mark the first stitch of every round. Stuff gradually as you crochet, keeping the head firm, the body medium-firm, and the arms slightly softer. The finished lamb should be rounded and plush, not stiff or boxy.

Color Placement Guide

  • Cream: face, body base, arms, legs, outer ears, toes.
  • Ivory: curly wool cap on top of the head.
  • Brown: small horns, hand hooves, lower hoof cuffs.
  • Pink: inner ears, nose, flower, cheek shading.
  • Green: floral overalls, pockets, straps, sandal straps, hat leaves.
  • Beige: watering can, crossbody strap, hat base.
  • Yellow and white: small flowers on clothing, hat, sandals, and watering can.

Head

The head is a large rounded lamb face with soft cheeks and a slightly flattened lower front. Use cream yarn. Stuff firmly as you work, especially around the cheeks. Do not overstuff the top where the wool cap will be sewn on.

Insert safety eyes between R18 and R19, about 11 stitches apart. The eyes should sit wide and low, giving the lamb a gentle baby face. Stuff the head firmly, shaping the cheeks with your fingers as you add filling.

FO with a long tail. Weave the tail through the front loops of the final 12 stitches and pull closed. Hide the yarn inside the head. The closed point will be covered by the neck connection, so keep it neat but not bulky.

Muzzle Shaping and Nose

The image shows a small pink heart-like nose centered low between the eyes, with a short black mouth line and two curved smile lines. This can be embroidered directly onto the head, but a tiny raised muzzle gives a more accurate finish.

Small Muzzle Patch

Use cream yarn and a 2.0 mm hook.

  1. R1: ch 5, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc 2, 3 sc in last ch, work on other side of chain, sc 2, inc in last ch. (10)
  2. R2: inc, sc 2, inc 3 times, sc 2, inc 2 times. (16)
  3. R3: sc around. (16)

FO with a long tail. Lightly stuff the muzzle patch. Sew it centered between R19 and R23 of the head, with the top edge just below the eyes. Keep it very shallow so the face remains softly rounded.

Embroidered Nose and Mouth

  • Use pink yarn to embroider a small oval heart nose over the top center of the muzzle.
  • Make 4 horizontal satin stitches, each about 3 stitches wide.
  • Add 1 tiny vertical stitch down from the nose using black embroidery thread.
  • Add 2 curved smile stitches, one to the left and one to the right.
  • Add two short black eyebrow stitches above the eyes if desired, matching the delicate expression in the image.

Cheeks

The lamb has soft pink blush on both cheeks. Use pink embroidery thread, blush powder, or very light yarn stitches. Keep the color subtle and round.

  • Place the blush on R20-R23, beside the muzzle and below each eye.
  • For yarn blush, make 4 short horizontal stitches on each cheek.
  • Each cheek should be about 5 stitches wide and 3 rounds tall.
  • Blend the stitches gently with your needle so they look soft, not striped.

Curly Wool Cap

The wool cap covers the top of the head with many small looped curls. Use ivory yarn. The curls should begin above the forehead and cover the crown, leaving the face visible. The effect should look like dense lamb fleece.

Base Cap

  1. R1: 6 sc in MR. (6)
  2. R2: inc in each st around. (12)
  3. R3: sc 1, inc, repeat around. (18)
  4. R4: sc 2, inc, repeat around. (24)
  5. R5: sc 3, inc, repeat around. (30)
  6. R6: sc 4, inc, repeat around. (36)
  7. R7: sc 5, inc, repeat around. (42)
  8. R8: sc 6, inc, repeat around. (48)
  9. R9-R11: sc around. (48)

FO with a long tail. Do not stuff. The cap should sit like a shallow bowl on the top of the head, with the front edge resting around R9 of the head and the back edge around R15.

Curly Loop Surface

Attach ivory yarn to the front edge of the cap. Work curls over the surface using the front loops and visible spaces. You do not need to follow exact round lines, but keep the curls dense and even.

  1. Insert hook into a surface stitch, pull up a loop, ch 5, sl st back into the same space.
  2. Move to the next space, sl st, ch 4, sl st into the same space.
  3. Repeat around the cap, alternating ch 4 and ch 5 curls.
  4. On the front hairline, make smaller curls: ch 3, sl st into same space.
  5. On the crown, make fuller curls: ch 6, sl st into same space every fourth curl.

Sew the cap onto the head. Place the front edge slightly above the eyes, leaving the face open. Tack the cap securely around the edge and add a few hidden stitches through the middle so it does not lift.

Horns

Make 2 small brown horns. They are short, rounded cones that peek out of the wool on the top sides of the head.

  1. R1: 5 sc in MR. (5)
  2. R2: sc around. (5)
  3. R3: sc 1, inc, sc 1, inc, sc 1. (7)
  4. R4: sc around. (7)
  5. R5: sc 2, inc, sc 2, inc, sc 1. (9)
  6. R6: sc around. (9)

FO with a long tail. Stuff lightly. Sew the horns between R8 and R12 of the head, partly tucked into the wool cap. Place them about 18 stitches apart, angled slightly outward.

Ears

The lamb has long floppy ears with cream outer sides and pink inner panels. The ears are oval, slightly pointed at the base, and angled downward beside the head.

Outer Ear, Make 2

Use cream yarn.

  1. R1: 6 sc in MR. (6)
  2. R2: sc 1, inc, repeat around. (9)

  8. R12: sc 3, dec, repeat around. (12)
  9. R13: sc around. (12)

Do not stuff. Flatten the ear. Sc through both layers across the opening for 6 sc. FO with a long tail.

Inner Ear, Make 2

Use light pink yarn.

  1. R1: ch 8, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc 5, 3 sc in last ch, work on other side, sc 5, inc in last ch. (16)
  2. R2: inc, sc 5, inc 3 times, sc 5, inc 2 times. (22)
  3. R3: sc 1, inc, sc 6, sc 1, inc, sc 1, inc, sc 1, inc, sc 6, sc 1, inc, sc 1, inc. (28)

FO with a long tail. Sew one pink inner panel onto each cream ear, leaving a narrow cream border visible. Place the ears on the head between R14 and R18, just behind the eye line. Sew the base firmly and let the ear droop outward.

Body

The body is smaller than the head and has a rounded belly hidden mostly under the floral overalls. Use cream yarn. The neck should be firm so the large head sits straight.

  1. R1: 6 sc in MR. (6)
  2. R2: inc in each st around. (12)
  3. R3: sc 1, inc, repeat around. (18)
  4. R4: sc 2, inc, repeat around. (24)

Stuff the hoof firmly and the upper arm lightly. Flatten the top opening and sc through both layers for 6 sc. FO with a long tail. Sew arms to the body between R21 and R23, angled slightly forward.

Legs

Make 2 legs. The image shows cream legs with rounded feet in green sandals. The feet face forward and hang from the seated body. Build the leg and foot as one piece.

Foot and Leg, Make 2

Use cream yarn.

  1. R1: ch 7, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc 4, 3 sc in last ch, work on other side, sc 4, inc in last ch. (14)

  8. R9: sc around. (15)
  9. R10: sc 3, dec, repeat around. (12)
  10. R11-R21: sc around. (12)

Stuff the foot firmly and the leg lightly. Flatten the top and sc through both layers for 6 sc. FO with a long tail. Sew the legs to the lower front of the body around R6-R8, leaving a small gap between them so the overalls form a center crotch.

Toe Embroidery

Using cream or slightly darker beige yarn, embroider three short toe lines on the front of each foot. Each toe line should run vertically over 2 rounds. Place the center toe first, then one on each side.

Green Sandals

The sandals are green with a rounded sole, front strap, ankle strap, and small yellow flower at the outer side. Make them snug so they hug the feet.

Sandal Sole, Make 2

Use green yarn.

  1. R1: ch 8, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc 5, 3 sc in last ch, work on other side, sc 5, inc in last ch. (16)
  2. R2: inc, sc 5, inc 3 times, sc 5, inc 2 times. (22)
  3. R3: sc 1, inc, sc 6, sc 1, inc, sc 1, inc, sc 1, inc, sc 6, sc 1, inc, sc 1, inc. (28)

FO on the first sole. Make a second sole for each sandal if you want a thicker base. Place two soles together and sc around through both layers with green yarn. FO and hide ends.

Front Strap

  • Attach green yarn to one side of the sole at the widest front point.
  • Ch 9 across the top of the foot.
  • Sl st to the opposite side of the sole.
  • Turn, sc 9 back across the chain.
  • Sl st into the starting side and FO.

Ankle Strap

  • Attach green yarn near the back side of the sole.
  • Ch 12, wrap around the ankle, and sl st to the opposite side.
  • Work 12 sc back across the chain.
  • FO and sew the strap down neatly.

Sew each sandal to the bottom of a foot with small hidden stitches. Place a yellow flower on the outer top side of each sandal, as shown in the image.

Floral Overalls

The overalls are the main clothing feature. They are green with a textured floral stitch pattern, short legs, front bib, pockets, and two shoulder straps with buttons. The fabric should look speckled with tiny cream, white, and pink flowers.

Overall Shorts Base

Use green yarn. Work from the waist downward.

  1. R1: ch 43, join with sl st to form a ring, being careful not to twist. Work 42 sc around. (42)
  2. R2-R5: sc around. (42)
  3. R6: sc 6, inc, repeat around. (48)
  4. R7-R10: sc around. (48)
  5. R11: sc 11, ch 3, skip 3 sts, sc 21, ch 3, skip 3 sts, sc 10. (48 including chains)

  6. Row 6-8: sc across. Ch 1, turn. (14)
  7. Row 9: sc across. FO. (14)

The bib should rise to the upper chest, just below the lamb’s chin. Sew the side edges lightly to the body so it lies flat.

Shoulder Straps

Make 2 straps with green yarn.

  1. Ch 26.
  2. Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and across. (25)
  3. Row 2: ch 1, turn, sc across. (25)

FO with a long tail. Sew one end of each strap to the back waist. Cross them slightly over the shoulders if desired, then bring them down to the front bib. Sew each front end near the upper corners of the bib.

Buttons

Use two small wooden-style buttons or make crocheted buttons in beige.

  1. R1: 6 sc in MR. (6)
  2. Sl st into first sc and FO.

Sew one button at each upper corner of the bib, on top of the strap end. The buttons should be visible and round, matching the sweet handmade look in the image.

Front Pockets

Make 2 small green pockets.

  1. Row 1: ch 7, sc in 2nd ch from hook and across. Ch 1, turn. (6)
  2. Row 2: sc across. Ch 1, turn. (6)
  3. Row 3: sc across. Ch 1, turn. (6)
  4. Row 4: dec, sc 2, dec. FO. (4)

Sew the pockets to the front shorts, one on each side. Leave the top edge slightly open for depth, but secure the sides and bottom firmly.

Floral Speckle Stitching

The overalls in the image are covered in tiny white, cream, and pale pink flower-like dots. Add these after the overalls are on the body.

  • Use white yarn to make small lazy daisy stitches across the bib and shorts.
  • Use pale pink yarn for scattered tiny French knots or small straight stitches.
  • Use cream yarn for soft filler dots between flowers.
  • Keep the stitches uneven and organic, like a small garden print.
  • Add more flowers on the bib center and upper shorts, fewer near the cuffs.

Small Yellow Flowers

Use yellow yarn and a 2.0 mm hook. Make several flowers for sandals, watering can, hat, and overalls.

  1. R1: 5 sc in MR, sl st to first sc.
  2. Petal 1: ch 2, 2 hdc in same st, ch 2, sl st in same st.
  3. Repeat the petal sequence in each of the remaining 4 stitches.
  4. FO with a long tail.

Make 4 yellow flowers: one for each sandal, one for the watering can, and one for the hat or pocket. Sew them flat with the petal tips slightly loose.

Pink Flower for Head

The lamb has a pink flower near one side of the wool cap, close to the ear. Make it slightly larger than the yellow flowers.

  1. With pale pink yarn, R1: 6 sc in MR, sl st to first sc.
  2. Petal 1: ch 3, 2 dc in same st, ch 3, sl st in same st.
  3. Repeat in each stitch around for 6 petals.
  4. With darker pink yarn, embroider 3 short stitches into the center.

Sew the flower on the lamb’s left side, beside the wool cap and above the ear. Let it overlap the edge of the cap slightly.

Sun Hat

The sun hat sits beside the lamb in the image. It is a small cream-beige garden hat decorated with green trim, white daisy, yellow bee, and pink flower. This accessory is separate and should look soft and shallow.

Hat Crown

Use beige or light cream yarn.

  1. R1: 6 sc in MR. (6)

  3. R13: sc 4, inc, repeat around. (60)
  4. R14: sc around. (60)
  5. R15: reverse sc around for a firm edge, or sl st around if reverse sc is difficult.

📌Thank you for reading the article

FO and shape the brim flat with your fingers. Add a green band around the base of the crown by crocheting ch 36, checking fit, then sewing it around R6.

Hat Decorations

  • Make 1 tiny white daisy using the yellow flower method with white petals and yellow center.
  • Make 1 small pink flower with 5 petals.
  • For the bee, use yellow yarn: MR 6, sc around for 2 rounds, FO. Embroider two black stripes.
  • Sew the flowers and bee to the front-left brim area.

Watering Can Crossbody Bag

The lamb wears a beige watering can as a small crossbody accessory. It has a round body, short spout, small handle, green top band, yellow flower, and a beige strap crossing the chest.

Watering Can Body

Use beige yarn.

  1. R1: 6 sc in MR. (6)
  2. R2: inc in each st around. (12)
  3. R3: sc 1, inc, repeat around. (18)
  4. R4: sc 2, inc, repeat around. (24)

  6. R9: sc 2, dec, repeat around. (18)
  7. R10: sc 1, dec, repeat around. (12)

Stuff lightly so the can is rounded but not overfilled. FO and close the opening. Flatten slightly with your palm.

Top Rim

Use green yarn.

  • Attach green yarn around R5 of the watering can.
  • Surface sl st around 24 stitches.
  • FO and hide ends.

Spout

Use beige yarn.

  1. R1: 5 sc in MR. (5)
  2. R2-R5: sc around. (5)
  3. R6: sc 1, inc, sc 1, inc, sc 1. (7)
  4. R7: sc around. (7)

FO with a long tail. Stuff very lightly or leave unstuffed. Sew the spout to one upper side of the can, angled diagonally upward. Add a small white flower puff at the spout tip if desired by making ch 3, sl st into same spot three times.

Handle

  • Use beige yarn and ch 14.
  • Sc in 2nd ch from hook and across. (13)
  • FO with a long tail.
  • Curve the strip into a handle and sew both ends to the opposite side of the watering can.

Crossbody Strap

  • Use beige yarn and a 2.0 mm hook.
  • Ch 62 for a strap crossing from shoulder to opposite hip.
  • Sc in 2nd ch from hook and across. (61)
  • FO and sew one end to each side of the watering can.

Place the strap over the lamb’s right shoulder and across the chest to the left hip, matching the diagonal line shown in the image. Tack the strap with tiny stitches at the shoulder and side so it stays in place.

Body Assembly

Before sewing permanently, pin every part in place. The lamb should sit upright with the head centered, arms hanging down, legs forward, and accessories balanced. Adjust the pieces until the expression looks soft and symmetrical.

  1. Sew the head to the body using the long body tail. Match the front center of the head with the bib center.
  2. Go around the neck opening twice, adding extra stitches at the back for support.
  3. Sew the arms to the upper sides of the body, just under the head, with the brown hooves pointing downward.
  4. Sew the legs to the lower front of the body so they hang forward from under the shorts.
  5. Slide or sew the overalls in place, making sure the bib sits centered.
  6. Attach the straps and buttons after the head is secure.
  7. Add sandals to the feet and sew them down so they do not twist.
  8. Place the watering can strap diagonally across the body and secure with hidden stitches.

Facial Detailing

The face is the most important part of this lamb. Keep all embroidery small, neat, and gentle. The eyes should be glossy and round, the nose centered, and the smile delicate. Avoid heavy black lines, because the image has a soft handmade expression.

  • Add a small catchlight stitch beside each eye using white thread if desired.
  • Use black thread for the tiny mouth only, not thick yarn.
  • Use pink thread or yarn for the cheeks and nose.
  • Keep both cheeks level with each other.
  • Check the face from the front before knotting the embroidery thread.

Optional Tiny Snail Accessory

The image includes a small garden snail near the lamb. This is optional, but it adds charm to the display. Make the body in cream and the shell in golden brown.

Snail Body

  1. With cream yarn, R1: 6 sc in MR. (6)
  2. R2: sc 1, inc, repeat around. (9)
  3. R3-R10: sc around. (9)

Final Assembly and Facial Detailing

Check the lamb from the front, back, and both sides. The ears should droop evenly, the horns should peek out from the wool cap, and the flower should sit near one ear. The overalls should be centered and high on the body, with pockets visible near the lower front.

Secure all accessories with hidden stitches. The watering can should rest on the lamb’s hip, not hang too low. The crossbody strap should cross the bib diagonally. Add final tiny flowers only after all major pieces are attached.

  • Trim loose yarn tails only after every seam is secure.
  • Shape the cheeks by gently pressing the sides of the head.
  • Adjust the sandals so both feet face forward.
  • Brush the curly wool loops lightly with your fingers, not a comb.

Care Notes

Spot clean the lamb with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid soaking the toy, especially if you used safety eyes, wooden buttons, blush powder, or cardboard inside the sandal soles. Let the amigurumi air dry fully before storing.

  • Do not machine wash if the toy includes buttons or glued details.
  • Do not tumble dry.
  • Keep away from pets that may chew small accessories.
  • For young children, embroider the eyes and replace buttons with crocheted circles.

  • Ears droop outward and show pink inner panels.
  • Overalls have bib, straps, buttons, pockets, and floral stitches.
  • Arms hang naturally with brown hooves visible.
  • Legs sit forward with sandals attached securely.
  • Watering can strap crosses the chest neatly.

Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines

Store the lamb in a dry place away from direct sunlight. Strong sunlight may fade the soft green, pink, and yellow details. If the lamb is used mainly for display, place it on a clean shelf and dust it gently with a soft cloth.

For deeper cleaning, dampen a white cloth with cool water and gently blot the surface. Avoid rubbing the floral embroidery because small stitches can loosen. Press with a dry towel afterward and reshape the head, ears, and sandals while damp.

If the wool curls flatten over time, lift each loop gently with your fingers. Do not pull hard on the curls. They are surface stitches and should stay attached to the cap. If one loop loosens, secure it with a small stitch using matching ivory yarn.

Keep the watering can strap, buttons, flowers, and hat decorations checked regularly. Small accessories are sewn on separately, so they may need reinforcement after handling. A few hidden stitches are usually enough to restore the original shape.

Finishing Note

Your Sweet Floral Lamb Amigurumi is complete when the lamb has a soft rounded face, curly wool crown, floppy ears, green floral overalls, brown hooves, tiny sandals, and garden accessories arranged neatly around it. Take time with the embroidery and final placement, because these small details create the gentle cottage garden look of the finished piece.
