Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.
Pattern Overview
This pattern creates a soft frog doll with beach accessories inspired by the image. The frog has a wide rounded head, small neck, pear-shaped torso, long thin legs, rounded arms, and a playful vacation outfit. The crochet style uses tight amigurumi stitches so the finished piece keeps a smooth, firm shape.
The frog is worked mostly in continuous rounds. The overalls are crocheted as fitted clothing directly around the body area, with bib, straps, side pockets, yellow chest stripes, tiny buttons, and black anchor embroidery. Accessories are made separately and sewn or placed beside the doll.
Finished Size
- Frog height: about 11.5 inches from sandals to top of eyes.
- Head width: about 4.25 inches across the widest part.
- Duck swim ring: about 5.25 inches long from duck head to tail curve.
- Hat diameter: about 5 inches across brim.
- Shoulder bag: about 2 inches wide and 2.25 inches tall, not counting strap.
- Beach balls: about 1.25 inches across each.
Skill Level
Intermediate beginner to intermediate. The stitches are simple, but the project includes shaping, color changes, small appliques, embroidery, and careful assembly. A confident beginner can complete it by following the stitch counts closely.

Gauge Notes
Gauge is not critical, but tight stitches are important. With DK cotton and a 2.5 mm hook, 6 sc across should measure about 1 inch. If stuffing shows through your stitches, use a smaller hook. If the fabric feels too stiff to shape, use a slightly larger hook.
Stuff the head and body firmly. Stuff the legs lightly at the top so they can hang naturally. Stuff the arms softly. The duck swim ring should be firm enough to hold its curve, but not so tight that the tube becomes lumpy.

Important Construction Notes
- Work most pieces in continuous rounds unless the pattern says to join.
- Use a stitch marker at the first stitch of every round.
- The frog head is intentionally wide and slightly flattened at the lower front.
- The eyes are large raised ovals, sewn close together on top of the head.
- The blue overalls sit high on the torso and have short legs ending above the knees.
- The yellow duck swim ring is worn on the frog’s left side and leans diagonally.
- The hat, bag, and beach balls are separate accessories placed beside the frog.
Frog Head
Use frog green yarn and a 2.5 mm hook. The head is a wide rounded shape, larger than the body. Stuff firmly as you go, especially after round 18.

Attaching the Eyes
- Place the two raised eyes on top front of the head between rounds 6 and 15.
- The eyes should touch or nearly touch at the center.
- Tilt them slightly outward so the frog has a cute wide-eyed look.
- Sew each eye base through round 10 of the eye and into the head using small firm stitches.
- Check from the front before knotting. Both black pupils should face forward.
Cheeks and Smile
The cheeks are small pink ovals placed on each side of the face below the eyes. Use pink yarn or embroidery thread.

- Work into the ring: ch 2, 2 hdc, ch 2, sl st. This forms one petal.
- Repeat the petal sequence 4 more times for 5 petals total.
- Pull the ring closed and FO with a long tail.
Sew the flower beside the frog’s right eye from the viewer’s perspective, slightly above the cheek line. Add one tiny orange or red French knot in the center.
Neck
The neck is narrow and tall, connecting the large head to the body. Use frog green yarn.

Slip this blue tube over the body from the bottom upward. The top edge should sit just below the neck. Sew the top edge lightly to the body so it does not slide.
Overall Shorts Opening
To create the split legs at the bottom, place the blue overalls on the frog body and mark the center front and center back. Use blue yarn to sew a vertical seam from the bottom center upward for 6 rounds, dividing the lower overalls into two short legs.
For each leg opening, join blue yarn at the inner seam and crochet 24 sc evenly around the opening. Work 3 rounds of 24 sc for each short leg. FO and weave in ends. This creates the short blue overall legs seen in the image.
Overall Bib
The bib is a rectangular front panel sitting on the upper chest. Use blue yarn and work in rows.

Stuff the ball firmly before closing. FO and weave the tail through the front loops of the last 6 stitches. Pull closed. Use white yarn to make a few surface stitches between color sections if the wedges need sharper separation.
Optional Flower Detail on Frog Head
If you want the flower to look fuller, add a second small layer behind it. Use yellow yarn, make 5 sc in a MR, then work ch 2, sl st into each stitch around. Sew behind the main flower before attaching to the head.
Assembly Order
- Sew the neck firmly to the body.
- Sew the head onto the neck, checking that the face points forward.
- Attach the raised eyes to the top front of the head.
- Sew white eye fronts onto the green eye bases if not already attached.
- Add cheeks, smile, and yellow flower.
- Slide the blue overall base onto the body and sew it in place.
- Add bib, straps, buttons, yellow chest stripes, pockets, and pocket anchors.
- Sew arms to the upper sides of the body.
- Sew legs to the lower body, centered under the shorts.
- Attach feet, toe pads, sandals, sandal straps, and red sandal flowers.
- Shape the duck swim ring and sew the duck head to the ring.
- Place the ring around the frog’s left arm and tack it lightly if desired.
- Finish the straw hat, blue bag, and beach balls as separate props.
Positioning Details for a Close Image Match
The frog’s face should look wide and expressive. Place the eyes high and close together, with the white ovals facing slightly outward. The cheeks should sit low on the face, not directly under the eyes. Keep the mouth small so the eyes remain the main feature.
The overalls should be bright blue and snug around the body. The bib sits high on the chest, almost touching the neck. The straps are narrow and vertical. The pockets sit on the lower front corners of the shorts, with yellow trim and tiny anchors.
The legs are long and thin, creating a playful beach-doll look. The sandals are wider than the legs and should sit flat. The green toes must remain visible above the white and blue straps.
The duck swim ring should be oversized compared with the frog’s arm. It should look like a soft yellow inflatable toy, with the duck head pointing out to the side. The beak is orange and small, while the black eye is placed high on the head.

- Orange: Duck beak.
- Pink: Frog cheeks.
- Red: Sandal flowers and beach ball sections.
- Turquoise: Beach ball sections.
- Black or dark brown: Safety eyes, smile, and anchor embroidery.
Detailed Stitch Tips
For smooth amigurumi, use the invisible decrease whenever possible. Insert the hook into the front loop of the next stitch, then into the front loop of the following stitch, yarn over, pull through both loops, yarn over again, and finish the single crochet.
When changing colors on the beach balls, finish the last yarn-over of the previous stitch with the new color. This keeps color changes cleaner. Carry unused colors loosely inside the ball so the fabric does not pull inward.
For the overalls, sew with matching blue yarn and use small ladder stitches. Avoid pulling too tightly around the body because the fabric should look like clothing, not like part of the frog’s skin.
For embroidered anchors, use short controlled stitches. Long stitches can snag. Make the center line first, then the curve, then the small top ring and side hooks. This gives the anchor a neat balanced shape.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
After all parts are sewn, check the frog from the front, side, and top. Add a little more shaping by gently pressing the head wider at the cheeks and smoothing the lower jaw. The raised eyes should stay rounded and symmetrical.
- Add one tiny white highlight stitch on each black frog eye if desired.
- Secure the flower with at least 4 hidden stitches.
- Use pink yarn to add 2 short blush stitches beside each cheek applique.
- Tack the duck swim ring to the frog’s left arm with 2 hidden stitches so it stays in place.
- Weave in every tail securely inside the body or accessory.
Care Notes
Because this doll has small parts, safety eyes, buttons, and accessories, it is best used as a decorative handmade item. For a child-safe version, embroider the eyes and replace buttons with crocheted circles.
- Spot clean with cool water and mild soap.
- Do not machine wash if the hat brim or bag strap has been shaped.
- Do not tumble dry.
- Let the frog air dry flat on a towel.
- Reshape the duck ring and hat while damp if needed.

Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
Store the finished frog away from direct sunlight to prevent fading, especially on the bright blue overalls and yellow swim ring. Keep it in a dry place so the stuffing stays fresh and the cotton yarn keeps its shape.
If dust collects on the doll, use a soft brush or lint roller with gentle pressure. For deeper cleaning, dab the surface with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid soaking the buttons, safety eyes, and embroidered details.
After cleaning, place the frog on a towel and support the head, legs, and swim ring in the correct position. Allow it to dry naturally. Once dry, fluff and smooth the stitches with your fingers to restore the rounded amigurumi shape.
