This sweet Princess Piggy is a soft knitted doll with a round pink head, rosy cheeks, glossy black eyes, a raised oval snout, floppy ears, and a tiny golden crown. She wears a pastel striped dress, a cream-and-blue cardigan with cable texture, flower sandals, and a strawberry crossbody bag. The set also includes a knitted sun hat with ladybugs, a butterfly, and a tiny watering can.
Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.
Pattern Details
- Skill level: Intermediate beginner to intermediate.
- Finished piggy size: About 12 in / 30 cm tall when worked with DK yarn and 3 mm needles.
- Construction: The piggy is knitted in separate shaped pieces, stuffed firmly, and seamed. Clothing and accessories are knitted separately and fitted onto the doll.
- Main style: Rounded plush toy with a large head, smaller body, slim limbs, soft pastel clothing, and small decorative details.
- Needle method: Small-circumference knitting may be done with double-pointed needles, magic loop, or two circular needles.
Materials
- DK weight yarn in soft pink for piggy skin, about 80 yd / 73 m.
- DK weight yarn in darker pink for snout, inner ears, hands, toe details, and blush accents, about 20 yd / 18 m.
- DK weight yarn in cream for cardigan, hat brim, and watering can, about 60 yd / 55 m.
- DK weight yarn in pale blue, mint green, pale yellow, lavender, peach, and pastel variegated shades for dress stripes, cardigan shading, flowers, sandals, and accessories.
- Small amount of golden yellow yarn for crown.
- Small amount of beige yarn for bag, hat stripe, sandal soles, and crossbody strap.
- Small amount of red, black, and white yarn for strawberries, ladybugs, bee, and flowers.
- 3 mm US 2.5 double-pointed needles or circular needles for main pieces.
- 2.75 mm US 2 needles for tighter accessories and small trims.
- Two 10 mm black safety eyes or black shank buttons.
- Fiberfill stuffing.
- Five tiny wooden or beige buttons for cardigan front, about 6 mm.
- Tapestry needle, stitch markers, pins, scissors, and black embroidery thread.
- Optional pink powder blush or pink embroidery yarn for cheek shading.
Gauge and Fabric Notes
For a firm toy fabric, use smaller needles than the yarn label suggests. The sample look is smooth, dense, and plush, with visible vertical stockinette stitches on the head and limbs. A useful gauge is about 7 stitches and 9 rounds per 1 in / 2.5 cm in stockinette after stuffing.
The body pieces should be knitted tightly enough that stuffing does not show through. If your fabric looks loose, go down one needle size. If your fabric feels stiff and difficult to shape, go up one needle size only for the clothing pieces, not the stuffed body.

Important Construction Notes
The piggy in the picture has a head that is noticeably larger than the body. Keep this proportion by stuffing the head round and full, while keeping the body slightly shorter and pear-shaped. The arms and legs are slim tubes with soft pink tips.
The cardigan is intentionally open at the front and sits over the pastel striped dress. The cardigan has cream shoulders, pale blue lower sleeves, a mint-blue lower body, and small cable-style front panels. The dress peeks out beneath the cardigan with narrow horizontal stripes.
All accessories are lightweight. The crown sits on the upper left side of the head. A small cluster of flowers and a bee sits near the top center. The bag strap crosses diagonally from the piggy’s shoulder to the opposite hip.
Main Piggy Head
Work the head in the round with soft pink yarn. Stuff gradually and firmly. The finished head should be round, slightly wider at the cheeks, and gently flattened at the bottom where it joins the neck.

Facial Embroidery and Cheeks
The face is gentle and cheerful. Keep the embroidery soft, because the glossy eyes and raised snout already create most of the expression. Use small, controlled stitches and check the face from the front after every few stitches.
- With brown embroidery thread, add two short eyebrow stitches above the eyes. Each brow should angle slightly upward toward the center.
- With darker pink thread, embroider a small curved smile below the snout. The smile should be centered and shallow.
- For cheeks, use pink embroidery yarn to make several tiny horizontal stitches beside each side of the snout.
- Optional: Add a very light touch of cosmetic blush to the cheek area, keeping it soft and rounded.
- Do not place the mouth too low. The piggy’s expression should remain sweet and childlike.
Assembling the Doll
Before final sewing, pin every major piece in place. The head should look large and round, the body should sit underneath the head without a long neck, and the dress should show below the cardigan. Adjust all angles before making permanent stitches.
- Sew the body to the bottom of the head using the long body tail. Circle the neck opening several times for strength.
- Sew both ears to the sides of the head, with the lower edge slightly cupped inward.
- Sew the arms to the upper body, then slide the cardigan over the arms and secure it at the shoulders if needed.
- Sew the legs to the lower body, checking that the piggy can sit naturally on a flat surface.
- Place the dress over the body and tack it under the arms and at the back.
- Place the cardigan over the dress. Sew buttons to the front and gently arrange the open front edges.
- Attach the sandals to the feet and add the flower details last so they stay visible.
- Place the crown, head flowers, and bee on the head. Sew each piece firmly with matching yarn.
- Put the crossbody strap over the shoulder, position the strawberry bag at the front hip, and tack both strap and bag in place.
Shape and Proportion Guide
- Head: The head should be the largest piece, about the same visual width as the body plus both arms.
- Snout: The snout should be raised, oval, and centered below the eyes.
- Ears: The ears should sit at the side of the head and fold softly, not stand straight up.
- Body: The body should be small and rounded, mostly covered by the dress and cardigan.
- Legs: The legs should be visible below the dress and long enough for the sandals to show clearly.
- Cardigan: The cardigan should cover the shoulders and arms but stay open at the front.
- Dress: The dress should flare gently and show pastel horizontal stripes beneath the cardigan.
- Accessories: The crown, flowers, bee, strawberry bag, sandals, hat, ladybugs, butterfly, and watering can should all remain small and delicate.
Optional Finishing Adjustments
If the head tilts after sewing, add a few firm anchoring stitches from the back of the neck into the lower head. Pull gently, not tightly. The piggy in the photo has a sweet relaxed posture, so a slight tilt can look charming.
If the cardigan looks too wide, overlap the front bands very slightly behind the bag strap and secure them with hidden stitches. If the dress hem curls, steam it lightly and pin it flat until dry.
If the sandals slip, sew through the sole, foot, and strap with a matching yarn tail. Keep the stitches hidden under the front flower decorations so the finish remains tidy.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
Check the face last. The eyes should be level, the snout should be centered, and the smile should sit just below the snout. Add the cheek color slowly so it stays soft. Secure all small accessories firmly, especially the crown, bee, flowers, buttons, ladybugs, and bag decorations.
Care Notes
Spot clean the doll with cool water and mild soap. Avoid soaking if safety eyes, buttons, blush, or decorative pieces are used. Press water out gently with a towel and reshape the head, cardigan, dress, and hat while damp.
Quick Checklist Before You Finish

- Snout is centered and lightly raised.
- Ears are folded and evenly placed.
- Dress stripes are visible below the cardigan.
- Cardigan buttons are secure and evenly spaced.
- Bag strap crosses diagonally and the strawberry bag rests at the hip.
- Crown, flowers, bee, sandals, hat, ladybugs, butterfly, and watering can are complete.
- All yarn ends are woven in or hidden inside seams.
Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
Store Princess Piggy in a dry place away from direct sunlight to keep the pastel colors soft and clear. For long-term storage, wrap the doll loosely in acid-free tissue or a clean cotton cloth. Do not compress the crown, hat brim, flowers, or watering can.
To refresh the shape, gently fluff the stuffed areas with your hands. Smooth the cardigan and dress flat with your fingers. If needed, use light steam near the clothing only, keeping the steamer away from the face, eyes, blush, buttons, and embroidered details.
