This summer beach amigurumi features a split-color Stitch and Angel style plush with one blue side and one pink side, oversized ears, glossy cartoon eyes, a dark blue nose, a tiny hibiscus flower, striped shirt, pale blue overalls, heart buttons, sandals, a striped shoulder bag, a round beach hat, a small beach ball, and two sandcastle buckets.
Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.
Finished Size
Using sport weight cotton yarn and a 2.25 mm hook, the main doll measures about 8.5 inches tall from feet to ear tips. The wide ear span is about 6.5 inches. The beach hat measures about 4 inches across, the beach ball about 1.3 inches, the bag about 1.4 inches wide, and each sand bucket about 1.5 inches tall.
Skill Level
This is an intermediate amigurumi pattern because it uses color changes, shaped ears, small accessories, embroidery, and several sewn-on details. A confident beginner can follow it slowly by placing stitch markers, counting every round, and stuffing the body firmly but gradually.
Materials
- Sport weight cotton yarn in bright blue, soft pink, pale pink, sky blue, white, navy blue, yellow, tan, hot pink, green, black, and a small amount of orange.
- 2.25 mm crochet hook for the doll and accessories.
- 2.00 mm crochet hook for tiny details such as flowers, stars, and facial embroidery chains.
- Fiberfill stuffing.
- Two 12 mm black safety eyes, or black felt eyes if the plush is for a child under 3.
- Small red heart buttons, 2 pieces, about 8 mm each.
- Yarn needle, stitch markers, pins, scissors, and black embroidery thread.
- Optional white felt or white yarn for eye highlights.

Gauge and Construction Notes
Gauge is not strict for this project, but your stitches should be tight enough that stuffing does not show. For best results, crochet all amigurumi pieces in continuous spiral rounds unless the pattern says to join. Use a stitch marker at the first stitch of every round.
The main plush is made with a vertical split: blue on the doll’s left side and pink on the doll’s right side. When the instructions say to work half blue and half pink, carry the unused yarn inside the head lightly, or cut and rejoin if that gives you cleaner color edges.
The face is wide and rounded, with a large head, small body, short arms, short legs, and very tall ears. The overalls sit high under the striped shirt neckline. The sandals, bag, hat, sand buckets, and beach ball create the summer beach theme seen in the reference image.

FO, leaving a long tail for sewing the head to the body. Do not close the opening completely if you prefer to sew the neck into the head for extra stability.
Lower Face Smile Line
The lower face has a soft curved smile that runs across both colors. With black embroidery thread, make a shallow curved line across R15 and R16. Add three tiny vertical stitches on each side for the stitched cartoon mouth detail.
- Start the smile 7 stitches left of the center line.
- Curve gently downward at the middle.
- End 7 stitches right of the center line.
- Keep the thread loose enough that the face remains rounded.
Large Cartoon Eyes
If you use safety eyes, add white eye patches around them for the tall oval look. If you prefer felt eyes, cut two black ovals, two white oval backings, and tiny white highlight dots. Sew or glue only with child-safe materials if gifting to a child.
Crocheted White Eye Ovals, Make 2

Sew the white ovals vertically behind or around the black eyes. The top of each oval should lean slightly inward to copy the sweet animated expression. Add one tiny white stitch on the upper outside of each black eye for a glossy highlight.
Nose
The nose is large, rounded, dark blue, and centered over the color split. It sits between the eyes and slightly overlaps the lower face area.
- R1: With navy blue, 6 sc in MR. Total 6 sc.

Oversized Left Ear, Blue Outside
The left ear is tall, wide, and slightly curved outward. Make the outer ear in blue and the inner panel in pale pink. The ear should stand upright from the upper left head, with the tip leaning slightly outward.

📌Thank you for reading the article
Sew one patch to the front of each bucket. Make the second bucket the same way, but pull its top slightly taller before sewing so the two sand pieces do not look identical.
Optional Sand Shovel Handle
If you want to add a hidden beach detail, make a tiny yellow handle tucked behind one sand bucket. This is optional because the main image focuses on the buckets, ball, hat, sandals, and bag.
- With yellow, ch 9.
- Sc in 2nd ch from hook and across. Total 8 sc.
- FO and sew behind one bucket.
Joining the Head and Body
Place the head on top of the body with the blue side on the doll’s left and the pink side on the doll’s right. The nose should center over the bib. Pin all the way around before sewing.
- Use the long head tail to sew through the neck opening and the upper body stitches.
- Make two full sewing rounds for strength.
- Add extra stuffing into the neck before closing the last gap.
- Check that the head does not wobble forward.
The head should look oversized and cute, not balanced like a realistic animal. The body stays short and rounded beneath it, with the overalls covering most of the torso.
Facial Embroidery Details
Use black embroidery thread for the mouth and tiny lash details. The face in the image has a sweet, cheerful expression with a small curved smile and raised eyes.
- Embroider the smile across R15 and R16 of the head.
- Add three short stitch marks on the left side of the smile.
- Add three short stitch marks on the right side of the smile.
- Add one small white highlight on each eye.
- Keep the nose centered and slightly raised.
Color Blend Touches
To make the split-color head look polished, use short duplicate stitches along the center line where blue meets pink. Do not overdo it. The edge should look handmade but clean, like two characters blended into one beach outfit.
- Use blue yarn to smooth loose blue stitches on the left side.
- Use pink yarn to smooth loose pink stitches on the right side.
- Keep the nose covering the most visible center join.
- Hide all tails inside the head before final shaping.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
Begin final assembly by sewing the ears first, then the flower, then the nose, then the body details. The large ears define the silhouette, so take time to pin them symmetrically before sewing. The right flower should overlap the base of the pink ear slightly.
- Sew the ears to the head between R4 and R9.
- Sew the nose centered between the eyes.
- Sew the head to the body with the bib facing forward.
- Attach the arms just below the head.
- Sew the legs and sandals under the shorts cuffs.
- Add the shoulder bag diagonally across the chest.
- Place the beach hat, ball, and sand buckets as removable props.
After all parts are attached, gently squeeze the head, cheeks, and body into shape. The head should be round and soft, the ears should stand tall, and the accessories should look playful but not crowded.
Care Notes
Spot clean the finished plush with cool water and mild soap. Do not soak the piece if you used buttons, felt, glue, or safety eyes. Let the plush air dry flat on a towel, reshaping the ears and hat while damp.
- Do not machine wash if the flower, buttons, or bag are sewn with delicate thread.
- Keep away from high heat because cotton can shrink and acrylic can soften.
- For children under 3, replace buttons and safety eyes with embroidery.
- Store the beach accessories together in a small cotton pouch.

Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
For long-term display, dust the plush gently with a soft dry brush once a month. Keep it out of direct sunlight to protect the blue, pink, and yellow yarn from fading. If the doll is stored seasonally, wrap it in acid-free tissue or a clean cotton cloth.
To refresh the shape, lightly steam from a safe distance without pressing the iron onto the yarn. Reshape the ears by hand and let them cool completely. Never steam directly over plastic eyes, glued felt, or decorative buttons.
When gifting, include a small care note explaining that the accessories are handmade and should be handled gently. The removable hat, ball, and sand buckets are best kept with the plush as a display set so the complete beach scene stays together.
