This crochet display pattern creates a cozy lavender garden scene with a white-framed greenhouse, soft sage ribbed roof, potted lavender, stepping-stone path, red gingham picnic blanket, three hedgehogs, watering can, picnic basket, fruit tart, lemonade set, garden sign, fence, bee, butterfly, flowers, and leafy arch details.
Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.
Pattern Overview
This project is a decorative crochet diorama worked in many small pieces and assembled on a firm crocheted base. The pictured style is soft, detailed, and miniature, with a garden greenhouse placed toward the back and a picnic scene in the front.
The pattern uses US crochet terms. Most pieces are worked in continuous rounds for a smooth amigurumi look. The greenhouse frame is crocheted as narrow tubes and reinforced so it stands upright like the image.
- Skill level: Intermediate, with beginner-friendly small parts.
- Finished size: About 13 in wide x 13 in deep x 10 in tall, depending on yarn and tension.
- Main hook: 2.5 mm for amigurumi pieces.
- Base hook: 3.0 mm for the ground, blanket, roof, and fence.
- Gauge: 7 sc x 8 rows = 1 in with 2.5 mm hook.
Materials
- Sport or DK cotton yarn in cream, off-white, sage green, moss green, tan, beige, brown, terracotta, gray, lavender, dark purple, yellow, red, pink, orange, teal, blue, black, and white.
- 2.5 mm and 3.0 mm crochet hooks.
- Polyester fiberfill.
- Black embroidery floss for eyes, sign lettering, and bee details.
- Brown embroidery floss for hedgehog noses and greenhouse table detail.
- Small amount of floral wire or pipe cleaners for greenhouse frame, bee, butterfly, flower stems, watering can handle, and vine arch.
- Plastic canvas or stiff cardboard for the base and greenhouse floor.
- Yarn needle, sewing needle, stitch markers, pins, scissors, and fabric glue if desired.

Important Notes Before You Start
The greenhouse in the image is open and airy, so the crocheted frame should look like narrow white posts rather than solid walls. Reinforce the inside of each post with wire or pipe cleaner before sewing.
The lavender pots are intentionally varied in height and color. Make some spikes taller and some shorter to create the natural garden look shown in the image. Use the same lavender pattern, but change the number of stems per pot.
The hedgehogs have cream faces, rounded brown spines, small black eyes, dark noses, and tiny feet. The large hedgehog sits on the front-left blanket edge, while two smaller hedgehogs sit together near the center.
Base Mat
Use moss green yarn and a 3.0 mm hook. Work the base as a firm square. Insert plastic canvas underneath after crocheting if you want the display to hold the greenhouse and fence without bending.
- Ch 46.
- R1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Turn. 45 sc.
- R2-R45: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn. 45 sc.
- Border R1: Ch 1, work 45 sc across top, 45 sc down side, 45 sc across bottom, and 45 sc up side. Join with sl st. 180 sc.

- Border R3: With sage green, ch 1, sc in each st around, placing 3 sc in each corner. Join and fasten off.
Base shaping: Block the square flat. Sew or glue plastic canvas to the underside. The sage border should look like the raised green rim visible around the garden base.
Greenhouse Floor Panel
Use light tan yarn. This panel sits inside the greenhouse and represents the woven floor seen beneath the shelves and potted flowers.
- Ch 25.
- R1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and across. Turn. 24 sc.
- R2-R22: Ch 1, sc across. Turn. 24 sc.

Red Gingham Picnic Blanket
The blanket in the image is a red and white check pattern placed at the front. Work it in color blocks of 3 stitches to create a gingham effect.
- Use red, white, and pale red yarn.
- Carry unused yarn along the WS, or cut and weave ends for a cleaner display piece.
- Use a 3.0 mm hook.
- Ch 37.
- R1: Starting in 2nd ch from hook, sc 3 white, sc 3 red, repeat from this sequence across. Turn. 36 sc.
- R2-R3: Ch 1, continue color blocks as established. Turn. 36 sc.

- Border: With white, ch 1, sc evenly around, placing 3 sc in each corner. Join and fasten off.
Sew the blanket to the front-left area of the base. Let it sit slightly angled, with the large hedgehog on the left side and the two smaller hedgehogs near the middle.
Stepping Stones
Make 12 gray oval stones. Place them in a curved path from the greenhouse door toward the front-right fence, as shown in the picture.

- R3: Sc around. 20 sc.
- Sl st to finish, fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.
For a slightly flatter look, block the stones before sewing. Sew them between the lavender pots and around the greenhouse entrance.
White Garden Fence
The fence is made from repeated rounded pickets and two horizontal rails. It goes around the front and sides of the base, leaving the greenhouse visible at the back.
Fence Pickets
Make 34 pickets in off-white yarn with a 2.5 mm hook.
- Ch 9.

Greenhouse White Frame
The greenhouse has tall white posts, rectangular side windows, a triangular front gable, and an open front doorway. Use off-white yarn and a 2.5 mm hook. Crochet narrow tubes over pipe cleaners or insert wire after crocheting.
Tube Formula
Use this formula for all greenhouse posts.
- MR, 6 sc into ring. 6 sc.
- Continue sc around in a spiral for the number of rounds listed.

- Add one slope beam on each side wall, running from side top edge to roof peak.
- Sew the ridge beam from front peak to back peak.

Window look: The white frame should stay delicate and open. Do not fill the windows with solid crochet. The empty spaces are part of the greenhouse design.
Sage Green Ribbed Roof
The roof has two soft sage panels with horizontal ribbing. Use a 3.0 mm hook. Work in BLO to create the ridges shown in the image.

Care Notes
- Display this piece indoors away from strong sunlight to protect the soft yarn colors.
- Do not machine wash because the greenhouse frame, wire, and tiny pieces may bend.
- Spot clean gently with a cool damp cloth.
- Let the display air dry completely before storing.
Quick Checklist Before You Finish
- The greenhouse stands upright and the sage roof is centered.
- The white frame has visible open windows and an open front doorway.
- The lavender pots are grouped thickly around the garden edges.
- The red gingham blanket sits at the front with three hedgehogs on it.
- The basket, tart, pitcher, and glasses are sewn securely.
- The sign reads Lavender Garden.
- The bee, butterfly, arch vine, fence, and stones are attached firmly.
Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
Use a soft makeup brush or small craft brush to remove dust from the lavender spikes, hedgehog spines, fence, and greenhouse roof. Brush in the direction of the crochet stitches so the loops stay neat.
If any lavender stems bend, reshape them gently with your fingers. If the greenhouse frame leans, straighten the hidden wire slowly and avoid pulling on the yarn tubes.
Store the finished garden in a box with tissue paper around the greenhouse and fence. Do not place heavy items on top. Keep the bee, butterfly, and sign protected so the small wire details stay upright.
