This sweet crochet farm pond scene features a rounded green base with a blue duck pond, three yellow ducklings, a cream windmill with brown roof and turning blades, a tiny bunny farmer in blue overalls, a rustic bridge, a fenced vegetable garden, flowers, a mossy-roof shed, a basket of produce, and a small wooden farm sign.
Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.
Pattern Overview
This pattern is written in US crochet terms and is designed as a decorative amigurumi-style display piece. The finished scene is built on a firm rectangular base with softly rounded corners, then each small farm element is crocheted separately and sewn securely in place.
The design uses mostly single crochet worked in continuous rounds. Small details such as flowers, vegetables, window bars, fence rails, and moss texture are added last. This makes the pattern easier to follow because the large shapes are completed before the tiny decorative pieces.
- Finished size: about 13 in wide, 10 in deep, and 9 in tall including windmill blades.
- Skill level: confident beginner to intermediate.
- Main method: amigurumi, flat crochet panels, simple shaping, sewing, and embroidery.
- Gauge: 6 sc and 6 rows = 1 in using worsted yarn and a 3.5 mm hook.
Materials
- Worsted weight cotton or cotton-blend yarn in grass green, pond blue, cream, tan, warm brown, dark brown, gray, yellow, orange, white, black, light beige, moss green, leaf green, teal, red, purple, pink, and small flower colors.
- 3.5 mm crochet hook for most pieces.
- 3.0 mm crochet hook for small details such as flowers, vegetables, and facial features.
- Polyester fiberfill.
- Plastic canvas or thick cardboard for the base, windmill walls, roof panels, shed walls, and bridge if desired.
- Yarn needle.
- Stitch markers.
- Scissors.
- Black embroidery thread for eyes and tiny faces.
- Small amount of blush pink yarn or embroidery thread for cheeks.
- Optional: fabric glue for positioning tiny flowers before sewing.
Abbreviations
- ch: chain
- sl st: slip stitch
- sc: single crochet
- hdc: half double crochet
- dc: double crochet
- inc: 2 sc in the same stitch
- dec: single crochet 2 stitches together
- BLO: back loop only
- FLO: front loop only
- MR: magic ring
- FO: fasten off
- st: stitch
- R: round or row
Important Construction Notes
Work tightly so the stuffing does not show through. The windmill, shed, bridge, and fences look best when the crochet fabric is firm. If your stitches are loose, go down one hook size for the structural pieces.
The base is lightly stuffed and shaped around an insert. The insert helps the farm stay flat on the table. Leave all long yarn tails on small pieces because they will be used for sewing the scene together later.
Place all pieces on the base before sewing. The windmill sits at the back left, the pond at the front left, the bunny near the center, the shed at the back right, and the vegetable garden at the front right.
Large Rounded Grass Base
Use grass green yarn and a 3.5 mm hook. The base is made as a large rounded rectangle. Work in rows first, then crochet around the edge to create height.

Placement Guide
Before final sewing, arrange every piece on the base. Use pins to hold the main items in place. Check the front view, side view, and top view. The farm should look full but not crowded.
- Back left: windmill tower with blades facing forward.
- Front left: blue pond with gray stones and three ducklings.
- Left pond edge: wooden sign and small flowers.
- Center: bunny farmer standing beside the bridge.
- Back right: mossy shed with basket near the doorway.
- Front right: fenced vegetable patch with carrots, pumpkins, cabbages, greens, and red roots.
- Between pond and garden: small tan bridge.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
- Sew the windmill firmly to the back left of the grass base. Stitch around the full bottom edge twice so it stands upright.
- Sew the pond to the front left if you have not already attached it. Add the gray stones tightly around the water.
- Sew the three ducklings onto the pond. Place two medium ducklings toward the left and one tiny duckling closer to the front center.
- Sew the shed to the back right. Add the basket beside the doorway.
- Sew the soil patch and fence to the front right. Add vegetables in small rows, with carrots standing upright and pumpkins near the front.
- Sew the bridge near the pond edge, angled slightly toward the bunny.
- Sew the bunny farmer upright in the center. Use hidden stitches through the feet and lower body.
- Sew the farm sign near the left side of the pond.
- Add flowers and grass tufts last to fill empty spaces.
For the bunny face, use black embroidery thread. Stitch two small eyes between R8 and R9 of the head, about 4 stitches apart. Add a tiny vertical nose line and a soft smile. Keep the face simple so it matches the gentle handmade style.
For duck faces, stitch eyes close to the beak and keep the beaks centered. Do not overfill the duck heads, because a softer rounded shape looks cuter and closer to the pond ducklings in the image.
Care Notes
- This project is intended as a decorative display, not as a toy for babies or pets.
- Spot clean only with a soft damp cloth.
- Do not soak the full farm scene because the base and structural inserts may bend.
- Let the piece air dry fully before storing.
- Keep away from direct sunlight for long periods to protect the yarn colors.
Quick Checklist Before You Finish
- The base is firm, flat, and softly rounded at the corners.
- The windmill stands straight and the blades are centered.
- The pond is sewn flat with a raised pebble border.
- All three ducklings have eyes and orange beaks.
- The bunny has ears, arms, legs, blue overalls, and a simple face.
- The shed has a dark doorway, green roof, moss texture, and basket.
- The vegetable patch includes carrots, pumpkins, cabbages, greens, red roots, and a tan fence.

Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
Use a lint roller or soft brush to remove dust from the pond, grass base, windmill roof, and shed roof. Brush gently in the direction of the stitches so tiny flowers and vegetables do not loosen.
If a small area becomes dirty, dab it with cool water and a tiny amount of mild soap. Do not rub hard. Press with a clean towel and allow the crochet piece to dry naturally in a shaded place.
Store the farm scene in a box with tissue paper around the windmill blades and bunny ears. Avoid stacking heavy items on top. If the blades bend during storage, reshape them gently with your fingers before displaying again.
