Knitting Tutorial: Pink Bee Fairy Tulip Garden Doll – Free Knitting Pattern.

This sweet knitted doll is a pink bee fairy with a round cream face, glossy black eyes, rosy cheeks, a pink hood with bow and curled antennae, soft white wings, a mint tulip dress, matching shoes, a tulip crossbody purse, a tiny garden mug, a mint sunhat, and a woven-style flower basket. The finished set is designed as a decorative handmade garden doll with many small knitted details.

Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

Finished Size

  • Main doll: about 10.5 to 11.5 in / 27 to 29 cm tall when knitted with sport weight yarn and firm gauge.
  • Head: about 3.5 in / 9 cm wide.
  • Dress length: about 3.25 in / 8 cm from neckline to scalloped hem.
  • Wingspan: about 5.5 in / 14 cm across both wings.
  • Sunhat: about 4.75 in / 12 cm across the brim.
  • Basket: about 2.25 in / 6 cm tall, not including handle.
  • Mug: about 1.5 in / 4 cm tall.

Skill Level

This pattern is suitable for confident beginners who can knit in the round, increase, decrease, sew small pieces neatly, and embroider simple flower details. Most pieces are knitted with stockinette stitch, then shaped with exact stitch counts.

The doll is worked firmly so the stuffing does not show. The small flowers, antenna balls, scalloped trims, and purse details are important to match the garden fairy look in the photo.

Materials

  • Sport weight cotton or cotton-blend yarn in warm cream for skin.
  • Sport weight yarn in soft pink for hood, bow, trims, purse flower, shoe trim, and tulips.
  • Sport weight yarn in mint green for dress, hat, purse leaves, shoes, and mug.
  • Sport weight yarn in white or ivory for wings.
  • Small amount of pale yellow yarn for antenna stems.
  • Small amount of green yarn for leaves and flower stems.
  • Small amount of tan or raffia-colored yarn for basket.
  • Small amount of brown yarn or embroidery thread for nose and basket shading.
  • Pair of 10 mm glossy black safety eyes or black buttons.
  • Black embroidery thread for lashes.
  • Pink embroidery thread or blush powder for cheeks.
  • Polyester fiberfill.
  • US 2 / 2.75 mm double-pointed needles or circular needle for magic loop.
  • US 1 / 2.25 mm needles for tiny flowers, leaves, and firmer trims.
  • Tapestry needle.
  • Stitch markers.
  • Small amount of wire or pipe cleaner for antennae and basket handle, optional.
  • Removable stitch markers or waste yarn for holding stitches.

Gauge

Gauge: 30 sts and 42 rnds = 4 in / 10 cm in stockinette stitch, worked firmly in the round with US 2 / 2.75 mm needles.

Exact gauge is less important than a firm fabric. If stuffing shows between stitches, use smaller needles. The doll in the photo has tight, smooth knitted columns, so a dense gauge gives the closest result.

Helpful Construction Notes

The doll is built from separate knitted pieces. The legs, body, head, arms, wings, hood, dress, shoes, accessories, and flowers are sewn together at the end. This gives the rounded plush shape shown in the image.

Stuff all body parts gradually. The head should be full and round, the body softly oval, the arms slim, and the legs straight. Do not overstuff the dress, hood, purse, basket, or hat, because those pieces should sit like clothing and accessories.

Use mattress stitch for visible seams and small whipstitches for hidden joining. Keep sewing stitches tiny, especially around the face, hood edge, dress straps, shoes, and floral appliqués.

Part 19: Final Assembly and Facial Detailing

  1. Place the dress on the body and sew the neckline to the upper chest with tiny mint stitches.
  2. Sew the pink straps over the shoulders. Keep them flat and even.
  3. Attach the hood around the face. The cream face opening should be smooth and oval.
  4. Sew the bow to the top center of the hood. Add the antennae behind and slightly beside the bow.
  5. Sew the wings to the back so the rounded edges show evenly on both sides.
  6. Attach arms after the dress if needed, letting them rest naturally over the sides of the skirt.
  7. Sew the purse strap across the chest and attach the tulip purse at the lower front side.
  8. Add tulips to the dress, shoes, mug, and hat. Keep the largest tulip details on the front-facing areas.
  9. Check that the eyes are even, lashes curve upward, cheeks are balanced, and nose is centered.
  10. Place the hat, mug, and basket beside the doll as separate display accessories.

Care Notes

Spot clean the doll with a slightly damp cloth. Do not soak the safety eyes, embroidered lashes, or small accessories. Let all pieces air dry flat in a shaded place.

Keep the doll away from pets, rough play, and very young children because the basket tulips, antennae, purse, and tiny flowers are small decorative parts.

Quick Checklist Before You Finish

  • The head is round, full, and larger than the body.
  • The hood frames the face neatly with a pink border.
  • The bow is centered between the two antennae.
  • The antenna balls are pink, round, and even.
  • The lashes are long and placed around the upper outside of each eye.
  • The dress has mint, cream, pink, and green tulip details.
  • The wings are attached behind the shoulders and visible from the front.
  • The shoes have pink trim and small tulips on the toes.
  • The purse sits across the body with a visible tulip shape.
  • The hat, mug, and basket match the same pink tulip garden theme.

Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines

Store the doll upright or lying flat in a clean dry box. Add tissue paper around the bow, antennae, wings, and basket handle so they do not flatten during storage.

For dust, use a soft makeup brush and brush in the direction of the knitted stitches. Avoid pulling on embroidered flowers, lashes, or scalloped trims.

If the doll becomes slightly misshapen, gently press the stuffed parts back into place with your hands. Do not iron the doll directly. For small accessories, reshape with damp fingers and let dry naturally.
