Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

Finished Size

  • Full garden base: about 18 inches wide by 13 inches deep.
  • Mushroom house: about 10 inches tall from base to top of cap.
  • Fairy doll: about 5 inches tall.
  • Each mouse: about 3 inches tall.
  • Mini accessories: 0.5 to 3 inches, depending on the piece.

Skill Level

This pattern is written for adventurous beginners and intermediate crocheters. The stitches are simple, but the project has many small parts. Work slowly, use stitch markers, and assemble each section neatly for the best fairy garden look.

Materials

  • Worsted weight yarn in grass green, light green, beige, tan, brown, dark brown, red, white, cream, pink, skin tone, gray, black, yellow, lavender, rose, and small scraps of other flower colors.
  • 3.5 mm crochet hook for the main garden, mushroom house, dolls, mice, and accessories.
  • 3.0 mm crochet hook for flowers, vines, leaves, facial details, and tiny pieces.
  • Polyester fiberfill.
  • Plastic canvas, felt, or firm cardboard for the base and house support.
  • Safety eyes: 6 mm for the fairy and 4 mm for the mice, or black embroidery thread.
  • Embroidery needle and yarn needle.
  • Stitch markers.
  • Scissors.
  • Hot glue is optional, but sewing is recommended for a durable handmade finish.

US Crochet Abbreviations

  • MR: magic ring.
  • ch: chain.
  • sl st: slip stitch.
  • sc: single crochet.
  • hdc: half double crochet.
  • dc: double crochet.
  • tr: treble crochet.
  • inc: 2 sc in the same stitch.
  • dec: invisible single crochet decrease.
  • BLO: back loop only.
  • FLO: front loop only.
  • st: stitch.
  • rnd: round.
  • FO: fasten off.

Gauge

Using a 3.5 mm hook and worsted weight yarn, 6 sc and 7 rows should measure about 1 inch. Exact gauge is not critical, but keep your stitches firm so the house, dolls, and accessories hold their shape.

Important Notes Before Starting

  • Most amigurumi pieces are worked in continuous rounds. Do not join unless the pattern says to join.
  • Stuff the mushroom stem firmly, but do not overstuff the cap. The cap should look wide, rounded, and slightly flattened like the photo.
  • Use firm tension for the figures and softer tension for the grass mat.
  • Sew each accessory securely to the garden base so the finished piece looks like one complete miniature scene.

  2. Make sure the door faces the front path.
  3. Use beige yarn and sew the bottom edge of the stem firmly to the grass mat.

  5. Sew the upper stem to the cream underside of the cap using small tight stitches.
  6. Add extra stuffing through the stem opening if the house needs more height or firmness.
  7. Shape the red cap with your hands so the front dips slightly over the door.

Part 18: Scene Placement Guide

Before sewing everything permanently, place all pieces on the green base and check the balance. The mushroom house should be the tallest center feature, with the fairy on the right and the mice on the left.

  • Place the sign at the front left corner.
  • Place the two mice near the sign and the left side of the house.
  • Place the fairy on the right front side of the mushroom house.
  • Place one lamp behind the mice and one lamp behind the fairy.
  • Place the stepping stones from the front center toward the door.
  • Place gray rocks and moss clusters at both front corners.
  • Place mini mushrooms around the door, fairy, and right flower patch.
  • Scatter flowers along the path and around the garden edges.

Part 19: Final Assembly and Facial Detailing

Sew the fairy and mice to the base using matching yarn. Stitch through the bottom of each body several times so the figures stand securely. Keep the mice close together and angle their noses slightly inward for a sweet garden conversation look.

Check all faces after assembly. Add tiny eyebrows to the fairy if desired, deepen the smile, and add pink cheek stitches. On the mice, add small black eye highlights with white thread and short whiskers with gray or brown thread.

Sew all accessories firmly to the base. When attaching flowers, stitch through the center of each flower and down through the stem. For rocks and moss, sew around the lower edge so the top remains softly rounded.

Care Notes

  • Spot clean only with a damp cloth and mild soap.
  • Do not machine wash because the small flowers, sign, lamps, and dolls may shift.
  • Keep away from heavy moisture and direct outdoor weather.
  • Reshape the mushroom cap gently with your hands after cleaning.

Quick Checklist Before You Finish

  • The red mushroom cap is wide, rounded, and has white spots in different sizes.
  • The beige house stem stands firmly and has a front door, window, vines, and flower box.
  • The fairy has a pink dress, brown hair, flower crown, wings, and soft facial details.
  • Two white mice sit on the left side near the “FAIRY GARDEN” sign.
  • The garden includes stones, lamps, flowers, mini mushrooms, rocks, moss, and grass tufts.
  • All pieces are securely sewn to the green base.

Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines

To preserve the shape, store the finished fairy garden on a flat shelf or inside a display box. Avoid stacking anything on top of the mushroom cap because the cap is intentionally broad and softly stuffed.

If dust collects on the flowers or tiny accessories, use a soft dry brush. Brush gently from the center outward. For deeper cleaning, dab the area with a barely damp cloth and let the piece air dry completely.

Keep the project away from strong sunlight for long periods, especially the red mushroom cap and pink fairy dress. Bright yarn colors may fade if displayed in direct sun every day.

When moving the garden, lift it from the green base with both hands. Do not lift it by the mushroom cap, fairy, sign, lamps, or vines, because those pieces are decorative and should not carry the weight of the full scene.
