Gauge and Crochet Style

Use tight, even stitches so the stuffing does not show through. The doll in the image has compact amigurumi stitches, a firm round head, and smooth clothing pieces that sit neatly over the body. Work most doll parts in continuous rounds unless a joined round is specifically written.

For a clean result, keep the right side facing out. Stuff the head firmly, the body medium-firm, and the arms and legs lightly near the openings. The clothing should sit snugly but not pull the body out of shape.

Main Turtle Head

The turtle head is large, round, and slightly wider than the body. It should look soft and full, with the lower face gently rounded. Use leaf green yarn and a 3.0 mm hook.

Final Assembly and Facial Detailing

Check the face before tying off any final knots. The eyes should be large and shiny, the cheeks should sit low and wide, and the smile should be centered under the tiny nose marks. Add small black stitches at the mouth corners if the expression needs more curve.

Sew the daisies firmly to the hat, sandals, bag, and pot. The hat flower should sit on the right side of the brim. The sandal flowers should sit near the outer top of each foot. The bag flower should be centered on the flap.

Place the watering can and flower pot beside the doll for the same garden scene as the image. The bag may be worn crossbody or displayed near the right side of the doll.

Care Notes

  • Spot clean with cool water and mild soap.
  • Do not soak the doll if embroidered details are delicate.
  • Gently reshape the hat brim and overalls while damp.
  • Let the doll air dry flat on a towel.
  • Keep away from rough surfaces that may pull the stitches.

Quick Checklist Before You Finish

  • The head is round, firm, and larger than the body.
  • The blue bucket hat sits at a soft diagonal angle.
  • The overalls are bright yellow with two front strap buttons.
  • The shirt sleeves show blue and white sailor stripes.
  • Both sandals have blue straps, beige soles, toe marks, and daisies.
  • The shoulder bag has a long yellow strap and front daisy.
  • The flower pot has three daisies, green leaves, and brown soil.
  • The watering can has a curved handle and angled spout.

Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines

For long-term display, keep the turtle doll in a dry place away from direct sunlight. Bright yellow and blue yarn can fade if left in strong light for many weeks. A shelf, craft display box, or covered basket works well.

If dust collects on the doll, use a soft makeup brush or clean dry paintbrush to gently sweep around the face, hat brim, flowers, and bag. Avoid pulling the daisy petals because small appliques can loosen with rough handling.

When storing the doll, do not press the hat flat. Fill the hat crown lightly with tissue paper and place the bag, flower pot, and watering can in a small fabric pouch so the accessories stay together.
