This cheerful crochet Odie-inspired garden doll has a golden-yellow puppy body, a white muzzle stripe, long floppy ears, shiny safety eyes, a black oval nose, red-and-white striped shirt, blue garden overalls, red sneakers, a straw-style crochet hat, a daisy crossbody bag, a tiny bee hair accessory, a gray watering can, and a small garden trowel.
Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.
Pattern Overview
This pattern is written in US crochet terms. The doll is worked mostly in continuous rounds, then the clothes and small garden accessories are made separately and sewn on. The finished look should be soft, rounded, and slightly chubby, with a large expressive head and small standing body proportions.
The image shows a plush amigurumi with tight, even stitches. Use a hook smaller than the yarn label suggests so the stuffing does not show. Stuff firmly but gently, especially in the head, muzzle, shoes, and overalls area.
- Finished size: about 10.5 to 11.5 inches tall when using DK yarn and a 2.25 mm hook.
- Skill level: advanced beginner to intermediate.
- Main construction: separate head, muzzle, body, legs, arms, ears, clothes, and accessories.
- Style: garden overall puppy doll with daisy and bee details.
Materials
- DK weight cotton or cotton-blend yarn in golden yellow for head, ears, arms, and legs.
- DK weight yarn in white for muzzle, forehead stripe, hands, shoe soles, flowers, and shirt stripes.
- DK weight yarn in blue for overalls, straps, hat ribbon, and bag strap.
- DK weight yarn in red for shirt stripes and sneakers.
- DK weight yarn in black for nose, mouth line, eyelids, and bee stripes.
- DK weight yarn in tan or straw beige for the garden hat.
- DK weight yarn in gray for watering can and trowel blade.
- DK weight yarn in brown for trowel handle.
- Small amount of yellow yarn for daisy centers and bee body.

- 12 mm brown or glossy black safety eyes.
- Fiberfill stuffing.
- Yarn needle, stitch markers, pins, and scissors.
- Two 8 mm yellow buttons for overall bib.
- Two small yellow buttons for shoes, optional but matching the image.
Abbreviations

Gauge and Stitch Texture
For the same dense amigurumi texture in the photo, aim for about 7 sc across 1 inch and about 7 to 8 rounds per 1 inch. The stitches should be tight, compact, and slightly pebbled, not loose or floppy.
If your stitches look too open, go down a hook size. If the fabric becomes stiff and difficult to shape, go up slightly. The face depends on smooth shaping, so check the head and muzzle before sewing.
Important Pattern Notes
- Work in continuous rounds unless the pattern says to join.
- Use a stitch marker in the first stitch of each round.
- Stuff the head very firmly to hold the large puppy shape.
- Stuff the ears lightly only at the top, leaving most of each ear flat and floppy.
- Pin all face pieces before sewing because the expression depends on placement.
- The white muzzle stripe runs vertically from the forehead down into the muzzle area.
- The eyes sit partly under the white stripe edge and black embroidered eyelids.
Head
Use golden yellow yarn and a 2.25 mm hook. The head is large, rounded, and slightly taller than it is wide. It should look full at the cheeks, with the muzzle sewn low on the face.

Insert safety eyes before closing. Place them between R17 and R18, about 11 stitches apart. The eyes should sit slightly low on the head, close to the muzzle area, and they should angle gently downward toward the center for a sweet puppy expression.
Begin stuffing after R21 and continue adding stuffing as you decrease. The head must be firm, round, and smooth. Do not close the head yet if you prefer to attach the neck from the body directly.
- R29: sc 2, dec, repeat around. 18 sts.
- R30: sc 1, dec, repeat around. 12 sts.
- R31: dec around. 6 sts.
FO, leaving a long tail. Close the remaining hole neatly with a yarn needle. Shape the head by rolling it gently between your hands.
White Forehead Stripe
The white stripe in the image is a raised oval strip running from the top center of the forehead down between the eyes. It blends visually into the white muzzle. Make it separately so the color line is clean.
Use white yarn and a 2.00 mm hook.
- Ch 17.
- R1: Starting in the second ch from hook, sc 15, 3 sc in last ch. Work along the other side of the chain: sc 14, inc in last space. 34 sts.
- R2: inc, sc 13, inc, sc 1, inc, sc 13, inc, sc 1. 38 sts.
- R3: sc 1, inc, sc 14, inc, sc 2, inc, sc 14, inc, sc 1. 42 sts.
FO with a long sewing tail. Pin the stripe vertically on the front of the head. The top should begin around R6 of the head, and the lower end should stop just above the muzzle center. Sew around the edge using small stitches.
Muzzle
The muzzle is large, white, and oval. It covers the lower front of the face and creates the rounded cheek shape seen in the image. It should sit across R18 to R26 of the head.
Use white yarn and a 2.25 mm hook.
- R1: MR, 6 sc. 6 sts.
- R2: inc around. 12 sts.
- R3: sc 1, inc, repeat around. 18 sts.
- R4: sc 2, inc, repeat around. 24 sts.

- R6: sc 4, inc, repeat around. 36 sts.
- R7 to R9: sc in each st around. 36 sts.
- R10: sc 4, dec, repeat around. 30 sts.
FO with a long tail. Stuff the muzzle lightly but evenly. Pin it to the lower front of the head, centered under the white stripe. The top edge should slightly overlap the lower end of the stripe.
Sew the muzzle on slowly, adding tiny bits of stuffing before closing the last inch. The muzzle should protrude gently, not sharply. Press it upward slightly as you sew so the face looks soft and rounded.
Nose
The nose is black, oval, and placed on the upper center of the muzzle. It should be wider than tall and slightly raised.
Use black yarn and a 2.00 mm hook.
- Ch 6.
- R1: Starting in second ch from hook, sc 4, 3 sc in last ch. Work along the other side: sc 3, inc. 12 sts.
- R2: inc, sc 3, inc 3 times, sc 3, inc 2 times. 18 sts.
- R3: sc 1, inc, sc 4, sc 1, inc, sc 1, inc, sc 4, sc 1, inc, sc 1. 22 sts.
FO with a long tail. Sew the nose to the muzzle between muzzle R4 and R7. Add a tiny amount of stuffing under the nose before closing the seam. Embroider one straight black mouth line from the bottom center of the nose down about 5 rounds.
Eye Details and Eyelids
The eyes in the photo look large, glossy, and slightly sleepy. This effect comes from dark upper eyelids and small white highlights. Add the embroidery after the muzzle and stripe are fully sewn.
- Use black yarn or embroidery thread to stitch a curved upper eyelid over each eye.
- Start about 2 stitches outside the eye, curve over the top, and finish 1 stitch toward the center.
- Add a short downward black lash at the outer corner of each eye if desired.
- Use white thread to add a tiny highlight stitch near each eye, if your safety eyes are plain black.
Body
The body is smaller than the head and mostly covered by blue overalls. Work the base body in golden yellow. The shape should be short and rounded, with the top narrowing into a small neck.
Use golden yellow yarn and a 2.25 mm hook.
- R1: MR, 6 sc. 6 sts.
- R2: inc around. 12 sts.

Stuff firmly. FO with a long tail for sewing. Attach the body to the bottom of the head. The neck should sit centered under the muzzle, with the head slightly tilted forward for the same gentle garden-doll pose.
Legs
Make two legs. The feet are red sneakers with white soles and golden-yellow ankles. The shoes are slightly oversized and rounded, matching the playful look in the image.
White Shoe Sole and Red Shoe
Begin with white yarn.
- R1: Ch 7. Starting in second ch from hook, sc 5, 3 sc in last ch. Work along other side: sc 4, inc. 14 sts.
- R2: inc, sc 4, inc 3 times, sc 4, inc 2 times. 20 sts.

Change to golden yellow yarn for the ankle and leg.
- R9: BLO sc in each st around. 16 sts.
- R10 to R18: sc in each st around. 16 sts.
Stuff the shoe firmly and the leg lightly. FO the first leg. Do not FO the second leg if you want to join the legs directly to the body base. For this design, sew the legs separately to the bottom of the body so the overalls can sit cleanly.
Shoe Details
- With white yarn, embroider one small horizontal oval dash on the front of each red shoe.
- Sew one tiny yellow button on the outer side of each shoe, near R7.
- Use red yarn to shape the shoe top if needed by stitching across the upper front.
Arms
Make two arms. The arms are golden yellow with white rounded paws. They hang along the sides of the blue overalls.
Begin with white yarn.
- R1: MR, 6 sc. 6 sts.
- R2: inc around. 12 sts.
- R3 to R5: sc in each st around. 12 sts.
Change to golden yellow yarn.
- R6: BLO sc in each st around. 12 sts.
- R7 to R17: sc in each st around. 12 sts.
Stuff the paw firmly. Stuff the upper arm only lightly so it hangs naturally. Flatten the top opening and crochet through both layers with 6 sc. FO, leaving a sewing tail.
Sew the arms to the sides of the body at R18 to R20 of the body, angled slightly downward. The white paws should end near the upper thigh area, just below the overall bib.
Long Floppy Ears
The ears are long, flat, golden yellow, and hang down beside the face. They start near the top sides of the head and curve gently inward.
Make two with golden yellow yarn and a 2.25 mm hook.
- R1: MR, 6 sc. 6 sts.

- R20 to R26: sc in each st around. 18 sts.
- R27: sc 4, dec, repeat 3 times. 15 sts.
- R28 to R33: sc in each st around. 15 sts.
- R34: sc 3, dec, repeat 3 times. 12 sts.
- R35 to R37: sc in each st around. 12 sts.
Do not stuff except for a tiny amount at the top if desired. Flatten the opening and crochet 6 sc through both layers. FO with a long sewing tail.
Sew each ear to the head between R8 and R12, about 11 stitches away from the center stripe. The ears should droop along the sides of the face and reach close to the shoulder area.
Red and White Striped Shirt
The shirt is visible above the overalls and at the sleeves. It has narrow red and white horizontal stripes. The easiest method is to make a removable-looking shirt tube before adding the overalls.
Use red and white yarn. Start with white yarn.
- R1: Ch 37, sl st to first ch to form a ring. Make sure it is not twisted. 36 sts.
- R2: Ch 1, sc around, sl st to join. 36 sts.

FO and weave in ends. Slide the shirt over the body before sewing the head permanently if possible. If the head is already attached, sew the back seam around the body instead.
Short Sleeves
Make two small sleeve cuffs. These sit around the top of each arm and show the red-and-white stripe detail in the image.
- With white yarn, ch 13, sl st to form a ring. 12 sts.
- R1: sc around. 12 sts.
- R2: Change to red, sc around. 12 sts.
- R3: Change to white, sc around. 12 sts.
FO. Slide each sleeve onto an arm before sewing the arm to the body. Stitch the sleeve lightly to the arm so it does not move.
Blue Overalls
The overalls are bright blue, with two short pants legs, a front bib, two straps, and yellow buttons. They should fit snugly over the body and legs while leaving the striped shirt visible at the chest and shoulders.
Overall Pants
Make the first pant leg with blue yarn.
- R1: Ch 19, sl st to first ch to form a ring. 18 sts.
- R2 to R6: sc around. 18 sts.
FO the first leg. Make the second leg the same way, but do not FO.
- R7: Ch 3, join to the first leg with 1 sc. Sc 17 around first leg, sc in each of the 3 chains, sc 18 around second leg, sc in the other side of the 3 chains. 42 sts.
- R8 to R14: sc around. 42 sts.
- R15: sc 5, dec, repeat around. 36 sts.
- R16 to R18: sc around. 36 sts.
Try the pants on the body. They should sit from the upper legs to the waist. FO and weave in ends. Sew the pants to the body with small hidden blue stitches, especially at the back and crotch.
Front Bib
Attach blue yarn at the center front waist of the pants.
- Row 1: Sc 14 across the front waist. Ch 1, turn. 14 sts.
- Row 2 to Row 8: sc across, ch 1, turn. 14 sts.
- Row 9: dec, sc 10, dec. 12 sts.
- Row 10: sc across. 12 sts.
FO and weave in the end. The bib should cover the lower center of the striped shirt, stopping below the neck.
Overall Straps
Make two straps with blue yarn.
- Ch 25.
- Starting in second ch from hook, sc 24.
- Ch 1, turn, sc 24 again for a thicker strap.
FO with a long tail. Sew one end of each strap to the back waist of the overalls. Cross them slightly or keep them straight over the shoulders. Sew the front ends to the top corners of the bib.
Sew one yellow button at each top corner of the bib. The buttons should sit on top of the straps, just like the image.
Small Daisy on Overalls
The overalls have a tiny white daisy on one lower front side. Make this small so it does not overpower the bib flower bag.
- With yellow yarn, make MR, 6 sc, sl st to join.
- Change to white. Ch 3, sl st into next st, repeat 6 times to make 6 tiny petals.
FO with a sewing tail. Sew the daisy to the lower left side of the overalls, around the upper thigh area.
Red Sneakers Finishing Cuff
The shoes in the image have white lower soles, red upper sections, and a small white stripe detail. Add a clean white cuff line to finish the sneaker look.
- Attach white yarn to the front loop left from shoe R9.
- Sl st around each shoe opening loosely.
- FO and weave in ends.
- Keep the white slip stitches even so the shoes look neat and sporty.
Daisy Crossbody Bag
The bag is a large white daisy with a yellow center, hanging at the front of the overalls on a golden-yellow strap. It sits near the lower right side of the body.
Daisy Center
Use yellow yarn and a 2.00 mm hook.
- R1: MR, 6 sc. 6 sts.
- R2: inc around. 12 sts.
- R3: sc 1, inc, repeat around. 18 sts.
FO with a long tail.
Daisy Petals
Attach white yarn to any front loop of the yellow center.
- Petal 1: Ch 5, starting in second ch from hook sc 1, hdc 2, sc 1, sl st into next st of center.
- Petal 2 to Petal 10: Repeat the same petal sequence around the center, spacing the petals evenly.

FO and weave in the white end. The flower should look full, round, and soft. For a puffier bag, make a second yellow circle, sew it behind the flower center, and add a tiny amount of stuffing.
Bag Strap
Use golden yellow yarn.
- Ch 55.
- Starting in second ch from hook, sl st across all chains.
Sew one end of the strap to the back of the daisy and the other end behind the opposite side. Place the strap diagonally from the left shoulder down to the right hip. Tack it to the shoulder and side body so it stays in position.
Straw Garden Hat
The hat is flat, round, tan, and straw-like, with a blue ribbon and bow. It lies beside the doll in the image, but you can also make it removable for the head.
Use tan yarn and a 2.25 mm hook.

- R18: sc 6, inc, repeat around. 96 sts.
- R19: sc around. 96 sts.
- R20: sl st around loosely to make a clean brim edge. 96 sts.
FO and weave in ends. Flatten the brim gently with your fingers. Do not over-stuff or stiffen the hat because the image shows a soft crocheted straw texture.
Blue Hat Ribbon and Bow
Use blue yarn. Ch 70 and sl st back along the chain. Wrap it around the hat crown and tie a small bow. Tack the ribbon in place at the back and sides.
For bow tails, ch 18 twice, sl st back along each chain, and knot them at the bow center. Let the ends hang softly like the photo.
Tiny Bee Hair Accessory
The bee sits on the top side of the head near one ear. It is small, round, yellow, black-striped, and has pale wings.

- Starting in second ch from hook, sc 23.
FO with a long tail. Curve the handle into a soft C shape and sew both ends to the opposite side of the watering can. Add a small top handle by chaining 12, sc back 11, and sewing it over the top.
Garden Trowel
The trowel has a brown handle and a gray oval shovel blade. Keep it small, flat, and simple so it matches the accessory size in the image.
Handle
Use brown yarn and a 2.00 mm hook.
- R1: MR, 6 sc. 6 sts.
- R2 to R10: sc around. 6 sts.
Stuff lightly with a thin strand of fiberfill or leave unstuffed if the handle is firm. FO with a sewing tail.
Blade
Use gray yarn.
- Ch 7.
- R1: Starting in second ch from hook, sc 5, 3 sc in last ch. Work on the other side: sc 4, inc. 14 sts.
- R2: inc, sc 4, inc 3 times, sc 4, inc 2 times. 20 sts.
- R3: sc around. 20 sts.
- R4: sc 4, dec, sc 8, dec, sc 4. 18 sts.
FO with a sewing tail. Sew the blade to one end of the brown handle. Flatten the blade slightly so it looks like a small garden shovel.
Optional Cheek and Face Shaping
To make the face closer to the image, lightly sculpt the eyes after the muzzle is attached. Use a long strand of golden yellow yarn and a needle. Insert from the bottom of the head, come out near the inside corner of one eye, go back near the outside corner, and return to the bottom.
Pull gently to sink the eye slightly. Repeat on the other eye. Do not pull too tightly. The face should look sweet and soft, not deeply indented.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
- Sew the head to the body with the muzzle facing forward and slightly downward.
- Sew both legs to the lower body, spaced about 6 stitches apart, with the red shoes pointing forward.
- Place the striped shirt around the torso before fully attaching the overalls, if possible.
- Fit the blue overall pants over the body and legs, then sew the waistband discreetly.
- Sew the bib to the front and attach both straps over the shoulders.
- Sew the arms to the sides so the white paws rest near the overall pockets.
- Sew the floppy ears to the upper sides of the head and let them hang naturally.
- Attach the daisy bag diagonally across the chest.
- Attach the tiny bee near the top of the head.
- Place the straw hat, watering can, and trowel beside the doll for display.
For the facial expression, check that the eyes are even, the white stripe is centered, the muzzle is round, and the black mouth line is straight. Small changes in eye angle can completely change the doll’s expression.
Care Notes
- Spot clean with cool water and mild soap.
- Do not machine wash if using safety eyes, buttons, or many sewn accessories.
- Air dry flat on a towel.
- Do not wring the doll because it can distort the head, muzzle, ears, and overalls.
- Keep away from pets if small buttons or accessories are attached.
Quick Checklist Before You Finish
- The head is larger than the body and firmly stuffed.
- The white forehead stripe is centered and connects visually to the muzzle.
- The ears are long, flat, and sewn high on the sides of the head.
- The red-and-white shirt is visible above the blue overalls.
- The overalls have two straps, two yellow buttons, and a small daisy accent.
- The red sneakers have white soles and small white front details.
- The daisy bag hangs diagonally across the front.
- The bee sits near the top of the head.
- The hat, watering can, and trowel are finished as separate garden props.
Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
Store the finished doll in a dry place away from direct sunlight. Strong sunlight may fade the golden yellow body, blue overalls, and red shoes over time.
To refresh the shape, gently squeeze the stuffed parts back into position with clean hands. Use a yarn needle to adjust loose strands instead of pulling them with scissors.
If the hat brim curls, lay it flat under a light book for a few hours. Do not press the bee, daisy bag, or watering can too hard because the small shapes can flatten.
For long-term display, place the doll on a clean shelf with the garden accessories beside it. Keep the trowel and watering can close to the doll to preserve the full daisy garden overall scene.
