This cheerful sailor crocodile beach day doll is made as a seated amigurumi with a long green snout, oversized white eyes, a striped sailor shirt, blue shorts, a red neckerchief, a tiny sailor cap, a red crossbody bag, yellow sandals with starfish, and small beach props. The finished doll has a playful summer look with beach bucket, shovel, and umbrella details.

Pattern Overview
This pattern uses US crochet terms and is worked mostly in continuous rounds. The crocodile is designed with a large head, a forward-pointing snout, slim arms, long dangling legs, rounded toes, a tapered tail, and layered beach clothing. Use a tight tension so the stuffing does not show through the stitches.
- Finished size: about 12 inches tall when seated, using sport or DK cotton yarn and a 2.25 mm hook.
- Construction: head and body are crocheted separately, then sewn together. Clothing and accessories are made as removable-looking sewn-on pieces.
- Gauge: 6 sc and 6 rounds equal about 1 inch in amigurumi fabric.
- Skill level: confident beginner to intermediate.

Important Crochet Notes
Work the crocodile tightly but not stiffly. The head needs enough structure to hold the long snout forward, so stuff the snout firmly and continue adding small pieces of stuffing while shaping the face. The body should be stuffed medium-firm, because the doll is meant to sit naturally on a bench or shelf.
When changing colors for the sailor shirt, finish the last yarn-over of the final stitch in the old color with the new color. Carry the unused yarn inside the work for short stripe changes, or cut and weave ends if you prefer a cleaner interior.
- Use green as the main body color unless another color is stated.
- Stuff each piece before the opening becomes too small.
- Pin all face parts before sewing to keep the expression balanced.
- The eyes sit high and wide, giving the doll the same surprised, friendly look as the image.
- The snout points slightly downward and forward from the face.
Head Base
The head is a rounded vertical oval with a wide back and a long snout sewn to the front. The eyes are added separately so they protrude from the top of the face. Use green yarn.

Long Crocodile Snout
The snout is the main feature of the doll. It is long, rounded, slightly wider at the head end, and narrower at the nose. The top has subtle raised green bumps and embroidered curved lines.

- R29: sc 12, inc, sc 14, inc, sc 8. 38 sts.
- R30 to R31: sc around. 38 sts.
- FO, leaving a very long tail for sewing.
Snout Top Bumps
Use the same green yarn. Make five small bumps and sew them in a line along the top of the snout, beginning near the nose and ending near the forehead.
- R1: 5 sc in MR. 5 sts.
- R2: inc in each st around. 10 sts.
- R3: sc around. 10 sts.
- R4: dec around. 5 sts.
- FO, leaving a tail. Do not overstuff. Make 5.
Sew three bumps on the upper snout and two smaller-looking bumps closer to the forehead. Keep them low and rounded, not tall. This creates the subtle crocodile ridge visible in the image.
Nostrils and Snout Lines
- With darker green thread, embroider two short nostril marks on the front top of the snout, about 4 stitches apart.
- Embroider three curved horizontal lines across the top of the snout. Place one near the nose, one at the middle, and one closer to the eyes.
- Keep the embroidery shallow, using one long stitch per line, then secure inside the head or snout.
Eyes
The eyes are oversized white domes with black pupils. They are placed high on the head, leaning slightly outward. This gives the crocodile the bright cartoon beach-day expression from the image.
White Eye Domes Make 2
- R1: With white yarn, 6 sc in MR. 6 sts.
- R2: inc in each st around. 12 sts.
- R3: sc 1, inc, repeat around. 18 sts.

- R6 to R8: sc around. 30 sts.
- R9: sc 3, dec, repeat around. 24 sts.
- R10: sc 2, dec, repeat around. 18 sts.
Insert a black safety eye between R5 and R6 of each white dome. Place the pupil slightly off-center toward the front and inner side, so the eyes appear to look forward. Stuff each dome firmly.
- R11: sc 1, dec, repeat around. 12 sts.
- FO, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Eye Placement
- Pin the eyes on top of the head, about 2 rounds above the snout seam.
- Leave about 5 to 6 stitches between the white domes at the closest point.
- Tilt each eye outward very slightly.
- Sew around the base twice so the eyes stand firmly.
Small Teeth
The visible teeth are tiny white points along the lower side of the snout. Make them small so they look cute, not sharp.
- With white yarn, ch 3.
- Sl st in 2nd ch from hook.
- Sl st in next ch.
- FO, leaving two tails for tying or sewing.
Make 6 teeth. Sew 3 teeth under the right lower side of the snout and 3 teeth under the left lower side. Space them unevenly for a natural crocodile smile.

- R29: sc 2, dec, repeat around. 18 sts.
- FO, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Neck
The neck is short and green. It sits between the body and the large head and helps support the forward weight of the snout.

Umbrella Ribs
- With orange yarn, embroider 6 straight lines from the center top to the scalloped edge.
- Keep the lines evenly spaced like slices of a small umbrella.
- Use small backstitches so the ribs are visible but not bulky.
Umbrella Pole and Base
- For the pole, wrap beige or gray yarn around a 5 inch piece of floral wire and secure ends with stitches.
- For the base, with beige yarn, 6 sc in MR. 6 sts.
- R2: inc in each st around. 12 sts.
- R3: sc 1, inc, repeat around. 18 sts.

- R5: sc around. 18 sts.
- Stuff lightly. R6: sc 1, dec, repeat around. 12 sts.

Sew or glue the canopy to the top of the pole. If you avoid glue, stitch around the pole through the center ring of the canopy several times until stable.
Assembly Order
Careful assembly creates the same balanced seated pose as the reference image. Pin every piece before sewing, especially the head, snout, eyes, arms, and legs.
- Sew the neck to the top of the body.
- Sew the head to the neck with the face looking forward.
- Sew the long snout to the lower front of the head. Add stuffing before the final stitches close.
- Sew the eye domes high on the head, close to the snout base.
- Add nostrils, snout lines, and teeth.
- Place the shirt on the body and tack it down neatly.
- Attach the sailor collar around the neck and shoulders.
- Add the red neckerchief over the collar opening.
- Place the blue shorts on the lower body.
- Sew the legs under the shorts so they dangle forward.
- Sew toes to the feet and sandals under the toes.
- Sew the arms to the upper sides under the sleeves.
- Sew the tail to the back lower body.
- Add the red crossbody bag and strap.
- Sew the sailor cap to the head at a slight angle.
- Place the bucket, shovel, and umbrella beside the finished doll.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
Face placement matters most. The white eyes should be large, round, and raised. The black pupils should face forward. The snout should be centered under the eyes and angled slightly downward, with the nose end still lifted enough to show the nostrils.
- Add the small white teeth after the snout is fully sewn.
- Use darker green embroidery for three soft snout wrinkles.
- Keep the mouth area simple, using only tiny teeth and shaping stitches.
- Add one or two tightening stitches under the eyes if you want a more expressive face.
For a clean finish, weave all yarn ends into the interior of the doll. Use matching thread to secure clothing edges so they do not shift while the doll is displayed.
Care Notes
- Spot clean gently with a damp cloth.
- Do not soak if you used safety eyes, wire, charms, or buttons.
- Let the doll air dry flat in a shaded place.
- Reshape the snout, eyes, cap, and sandals while damp if needed.
Quick Checklist Before You Finish
- The crocodile has a long green snout with nostrils and soft wrinkle lines.
- The eyes are white, oversized, raised, and evenly placed.
- The sailor shirt has blue and white horizontal stripes.
- The blue shorts sit below the shirt and above the dangling legs.
- The red neckerchief is centered under the chin.
- The red crossbody bag rests at the hip with a tiny fish charm.
- The sailor cap has blue and white stripes, a small anchor, and red back ties.
- The yellow sandals have rounded toes and tan starfish decorations.
- The bucket, shovel, and umbrella complete the beach day scene.
Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
Store the doll upright or seated so the long snout and tail keep their shape. Avoid pressing heavy items against the eyes, cap, and umbrella. If dust collects, use a soft dry brush first before using moisture.
If the doll will be handled often, sew all accessories instead of relying on loose placement. For display only, the bucket and umbrella may remain separate so the scene can be arranged beside the crocodile.
- Keep away from direct sunlight to prevent color fading.
- Store in a breathable cotton bag when not displayed.
- Do not machine wash if wire, safety eyes, charms, or embroidered details are used.
- Refresh the shape by gently massaging the stuffing back into place.
