Snapdragon Ribbon Parade Bunny – Knitting

Snapdragon Ribbon Parade Bunny – Knitting

Snapdragon Ribbon Parade Bunny is a dressed-up knit bunny with a soft cream face, floppy ears tucked under a floral cap, and a light blue striped cardigan for a breezy day out. The outfit includes a paneled skirt with snapdragon blossoms, tiny tie shoes, and a rainbow shoulder bag. There’s also a mini mouse friend in a sailor-style dress, plus a snapdragon bouquet and small ribbon “confetti” pieces for styling your photos. If you like to buy yarn for heirloom dolls, buy stuffing, and buy double-point needles for small circular projects, this set is built to look polished and gift-ready.

Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

Materials

  • Yarn weight: DK / light worsted (smooth, non-fuzzy yarn gives the cleanest facial details and crisp stitches).
  • Main colors: Cream (bunny, skirt, hat base), Light Blue and White (cardigan stripes and sailor accents), Taupe/Beige (shoes), Green (leaves and bouquet stems).
  • Flower colors: Pink, Magenta, Purple, Lavender, and Soft Yellow for snapdragon “blossom clusters.”
  • Bag yarn: Self-striping pastel rainbow DK, or separate colors to create stripes.
  • Embroidery: Black embroidery floss or very thin black yarn for eyes and mouth; optional soft brown for shading.

Tools and Notions

  • US 2 (2.75 mm) needles for the stuffed toys and small accessories.
  • US 3 (3.25 mm) needles for clothing pieces (cape-like drape on cardigan and skirt).
  • DPNs or long circular needles for magic loop.
  • Stitch markers, tapestry needle, scissors.
  • Polyfill stuffing.
  • Optional: thin craft wire for the bag strap firmness (only if item is for display, not for children).
  • Optional: 2 tiny snaps or micro buttons for the cardigan front (can also be left open as shown).

Finished Size

With DK yarn and a dense toy gauge, the bunny finishes about 9–11 in (23–28 cm) tall sitting/standing with legs extended. The mouse friend finishes about 3–4 in (8–10 cm) tall. Size changes with yarn and needle choice, but the proportions stay consistent if you follow stitch counts.

Gauge and Fabric Density

This set looks best with tight stitches that hide stuffing. Aim for a firm fabric where you do not see gaps between stitches. If your fabric feels loose, go down a needle size. If it feels stiff and hard to shape, go up a needle size for clothing only.

Construction Notes

The bunny head and body are knit in the round and stuffed. Ears are knit flat and sewn, then tucked under the hat brim as shown. Clothing is separate and removable, but you can tack pieces in place with a few hidden stitches for a cleaner display pose.

The floral look comes from small “bubble” clusters stitched onto panels. You will repeat the same snapdragon cluster recipe across the hat and skirt, keeping the layout symmetrical from left to right. Take time to mark placement before sewing flowers down.

Color Planning for the Snapdragon Motifs

  • Pick 4–5 blossom colors: soft yellow, pink, magenta, purple, and lavender.
  • Use green for leaf stitches at the base of each blossom panel.
  • On each panel, stack blossoms vertically so they look like snapdragon spikes.
  • Vary colors per panel, but keep the overall balance even across the piece.

Bunny Base (Cream)

Head

Work in the round with US 2 and cream yarn. Stuff firmly to keep the face smooth. The head is a rounded sphere with a gentle muzzle bump for the small embroidered nose and mouth shown in the image.

  1. CO 6 sts. Join in the round. Place marker.
  2. Rnd 1: k all (6).
  3. Rnd 2: kfb each st (12).
  4. Rnd 3: k all (12).
  5. Rnd 4: (k1, kfb) repeat (18).
  6. Rnd 5: k all (18).
  7. Rnd 6: (k2, kfb) repeat (24).
  8. Rnd 7: k all (24).
  9. Rnd 8: (k3, kfb) repeat (30).
  10. Rnd 9: k all (30).
  11. Rnd 10: (k4, kfb) repeat (36).
  12. Rnd 11–16: k all (36).

Create a subtle muzzle by adding increases on the front center line. This helps the nose sit slightly forward, matching the gentle face shape in the photo.

  1. Rnd 17: k16, kfb, k2, kfb, k16 (38).
  2. Rnd 18: k all (38).
  3. Rnd 19: k16, kfb, k4, kfb, k16 (40).
  4. Rnd 20–23: k all (40).

Begin stuffing. Add a small pinch of extra stuffing behind the muzzle area so the face embroidery stays crisp and centered. Keep the cheeks round and smooth with your fingers as you stuff.

  1. Rnd 24: (k8, k2tog) repeat (36).
  2. Rnd 25: k all (36).
  3. Rnd 26: (k7, k2tog) repeat (32).
  4. Rnd 27: k all (32).
  5. Rnd 28: (k6, k2tog) repeat (28).
  6. Rnd 29: k all (28).
  7. Rnd 30: (k5, k2tog) repeat (24).
  8. Rnd 31: k all (24).
  9. Rnd 32: (k4, k2tog) repeat (20).

Stuff firmly. The head should feel springy but full, with no dents. Check that the muzzle area still has a gentle forward curve and that the back of the head is evenly rounded.

  1. Rnd 33: (k3, k2tog) repeat (16).
  2. Rnd 34: (k2, k2tog) repeat (12).
  3. Rnd 35: (k1, k2tog) repeat (8).
  4. Cut yarn, thread tail through remaining sts, pull tight to close. Weave in end.

Ears (Make 2, Cream)

The bunny’s ears are long and floppy in the image, hanging down under the hat. Knit ears flat, seam the edges, and add only a tiny bit of stuffing near the base so they drape naturally.

  1. With US 2, CO 16 sts. Work flat in stockinette (RS knit, WS purl) for 22 rows.
  2. Shape tip: Row 23 (RS): k2, ssk, k10, k2tog, k2 (14).
  3. Row 24 (WS): p all.
  4. Row 25: k2, ssk, k8, k2tog, k2 (12).
  5. Row 26: p all.
  6. Row 27: k2, ssk, k6, k2tog, k2 (10).
  7. Row 28: p all.
  8. Row 29: k2, ssk, k4, k2tog, k2 (8).
  9. Row 30: p all.
  10. Row 31: k2, ssk, k2tog, k2 (6).
  11. Row 32: p all.
  12. Row 33: k1, ssk, k2tog, k1 (4).
  13. Row 34: p all.
  14. Row 35: ssk, k2tog (2). Cut yarn, pull through.

Fold ear lengthwise (WS inside). Mattress stitch long edge and tip. Turn RS out. Add a small pinch of stuffing only at the base 1 in (2.5 cm). Leave the rest unstuffed so the ear hangs softly.

Body (Torso, Cream)

The body is a smooth cylinder with a slightly wider lower half. Keep stuffing firm so the cardigan and skirt sit neatly and do not slump. Work from the bottom up.

  1. With US 2, CO 6 sts. Join in the round.
  2. Rnd 1: k all (6).
  3. Rnd 2: kfb each st (12).
  4. Rnd 3: k all (12).
  5. Rnd 4: (k1, kfb) repeat (18).
  6. Rnd 5: k all (18).
  7. Rnd 6: (k2, kfb) repeat (24).
  8. Rnd 7: k all (24).
  9. Rnd 8: (k3, kfb) repeat (30).
  10. Rnd 9: k all (30).
  11. Rnd 10: (k4, kfb) repeat (36).
  12. Rnd 11–18: k all (36).

Slight waist shaping helps the skirt sit at the correct height. The bunny in the photo has a tidy waistline, not bulky. Keep the center front smooth for the cardigan opening.

  1. Rnd 19: (k10, k2tog) repeat (33).
  2. Rnd 20–22: k all (33).
  3. Rnd 23: (k9, k2tog) repeat (30).
  4. Rnd 24–26: k all (30).
  5. Rnd 27: (k4, kfb) repeat (36).
  6. Rnd 28–31: k all (36).

Stuff firmly now, shaping the torso into a stable form. Make the belly gently rounded and keep the back smooth. You want the bunny to sit nicely with legs extended, like in the image.

  1. Rnd 32: (k4, k2tog) repeat (30).
  2. Rnd 33: k all (30).
  3. Rnd 34: (k3, k2tog) repeat (24).
  4. Rnd 35: k all (24).
  5. Rnd 36: (k2, k2tog) repeat (18).
  6. Rnd 37: k all (18).
  7. Rnd 38: (k1, k2tog) repeat (12).
  8. Rnd 39: k all (12). Cut yarn, leave long tail for attaching head. Do not close.

Legs (Make 2, Cream)

The legs are straight and extended forward in the photo, with ribbed texture visible. Knit legs in the round. Stuff firmly so they keep shape inside the shoes.

  1. With US 2, CO 12 sts. Join in the round.
  2. Rnd 1–4: (k1, p1) rib around (12).
  3. Rnd 5–20: k all (12).
  4. Lightly stuff as you go, keeping the tube smooth.
  5. Rnd 21: (k4, k2tog) repeat (10).
  6. Rnd 22: k all (10).
  7. Cut yarn, leave tail for sewing to body.

Arms (Make 2, Cream)

Arms are relaxed and slightly bent outward under the cardigan. Keep stuffing lighter than legs so sleeves sit smoothly and the arms can angle naturally.

  1. With US 2, CO 6 sts. Join in the round.
  2. Rnd 1: k all (6).
  3. Rnd 2: kfb each st (12).
  4. Rnd 3–5: k all (12).
  5. Rnd 6: (k2, k2tog) repeat (9).
  6. Rnd 7–16: k all (9).
  7. Stuff lightly at the paw, then a bit more in the upper arm.
  8. Rnd 17: (k1, k2tog) repeat (6).
  9. Cut yarn, close opening, leave tail for sewing.

Optional Tail (Small, Cream)

The tail is hidden by the skirt, but a small nub improves the silhouette if the bunny is viewed from behind.

  1. CO 6 sts. Join in the round.
  2. Rnd 1: k all.
  3. Rnd 2: kfb each st (12).
  4. Rnd 3: k all (12).
  5. Rnd 4: (k2tog) repeat (6). Stuff lightly.
  6. Cut yarn, close. Leave tail for sewing.

Clothing Set

Cardigan (Light Blue and White Stripes with Lace Front Panels)

The cardigan in the image is light blue with thin white stripes on the sleeves and upper body. The front has two delicate lace panels that look like vertical leaf-lace columns. The neckline is finished cleanly, and the cardigan is worn open.

Work with US 3 for a softer drape. Knit the cardigan flat from the bottom up to the armholes, then sleeves separately. You will add a sailor-style collar later.

Cardigan Body

Use light blue as the main color (MC) and white as the contrast (CC). Make stripes by alternating 2 rows MC and 2 rows CC on sleeves and upper body, matching the gentle striping in the photo.

  1. With MC and US 3, CO 56 sts. Work flat.
  2. Rows 1–6: (k1, p1) rib across for the hem.
  3. Row 7 (RS): k all.
  4. Row 8 (WS): p all.

Set up two lace panels on the front. Keep a smooth stockinette center-back. The lace should be delicate, not overly open, so it stays neat on a stuffed doll.

  1. Row 9 (RS): k8, work Lace Panel A over 10 sts, k20, work Lace Panel A over 10 sts, k8.
  2. Row 10 (WS): p all sts, but purl lace panel stitches as they appear.

Lace Panel A (10 sts, worked over 8 rows): Use this simple leaf-lace repeat. Keep yarnovers snug and consistent. When a row says “k all,” knit every stitch in the panel.

  1. Panel Row 1 (RS): k2, yo, k2tog, k4, ssk, yo, k2.
  2. Panel Row 2 (WS): p all.
  3. Panel Row 3: k2, yo, k2tog, k2, k2tog, yo, k2.
  4. Panel Row 4: p all.
  5. Panel Row 5: k2, yo, k2tog, k4, ssk, yo, k2.
  6. Panel Row 6: p all.
  7. Panel Row 7: k all.
  8. Panel Row 8: p all.

📌Thank you for reading the article

Repeat Rows 9–10 of the body, working Lace Panel A continuously in each panel position, until the cardigan measures about 2.25–2.75 in (5.5–7 cm) from the hem. End with a WS row.

Shape Armholes

The cardigan sits smoothly on the bunny without bulky shoulders. Make a gentle armhole curve and keep the fronts tidy.

  1. Next RS row: BO 3 sts, work to end.
  2. Next WS row: BO 3 sts, p to end.
  3. Work even for 6 rows, keeping lace panels aligned and centered on the front areas.

Split for Fronts and Back

Divide the cardigan into left front, back, and right front. The cardigan is worn open, but you can add a tiny closure later if you want.

  1. Next RS row: Work 17 sts (left front), place remaining sts on holder; BO 2 sts for center; work 17 sts (right front).
  2. Place back sts on holder separately (about 20 sts). Confirm your counts based on where your lace panels sit.

Work each front for 6 more rows, shaping neckline slightly by decreasing 1 st at the neck edge every other RS row, 3 times. Keep the outer edge straight for a clean opening.

Work back for 8 rows even. Join shoulders with mattress stitch or a three-needle bind off for stability.

Sleeves (Make 2, Striped)

Sleeves are lightly striped like the photo. They are slim and end in a cream cuff that matches the bunny’s hands peeking out.

  1. With MC and US 3, pick up 24 sts evenly around the armhole.
  2. Join in the round. Work 2 rnds MC, then 2 rnds CC. Repeat this stripe sequence for 16 rnds.
  3. Shape: Every 6th rnd, decrease 1 st on each side (k2tog at one marker, ssk at the other). Repeat 2 times (20 sts).
  4. Work 4 rnds even in stripes.
  5. Switch to cream for cuff: work (k1, p1) rib for 4 rnds.
  6. BO stretchy. Repeat for second sleeve.

Sailor Collar (Blue with White Edge)

The cardigan has a sailor-inspired collar that frames the neckline. Make a simple collar flap that sits over the shoulders and overlaps at the front like in the image.

  1. With MC and US 3, pick up and knit stitches around the neckline, including front edges, about 44–50 sts total.
  2. Work 2 rows garter (k all rows) for stability.
  3. Increase for collar flare: Next RS row: (k5, kfb) repeat across.
  4. Work 8 rows garter, forming a soft rectangular flap at the back.
  5. Switch to white for the final edge: work 2 garter rows in white.
  6. BO loosely. Tack collar tips at the front so they sit neatly and do not twist.

Front Finish

Pick up stitches along each front opening and knit 2 rows garter in MC for a tidy band. BO loosely. If you want a closure, sew 1–2 tiny snaps at chest height, but leaving it open matches the photo well.

Paneled Skirt (Cream with Snapdragon Blossom Panels)

The skirt is cream with vertical panel lines, and several panels show snapdragon blossoms in stacked clusters. The hem has a clean finish and the skirt flares gently, sitting right under the cardigan.

Skirt Base

  1. With US 3 and cream, CO 60 sts. Join in the round.
  2. Rnd 1–6: (k1, p1) rib around for the waistband.
  3. Rnd 7–8: k all.

Create subtle panel seams by adding purl “channels.” This gives the skirt those vertical divisions seen in the image without heavy texture.

  1. Set panel markers: Place markers every 10 sts (6 panels total).
  2. Rnd 9: For each panel, k9, p1. Repeat around.
  3. Rnd 10: k all (purl the panel stitch as it appears to keep the channel).
  4. Repeat Rnds 9–10 for 10 more repeats (22 rnds total from Rnd 9).

Increase gently for flare. Place increases in the knit sections so channels remain straight.

  1. Increase rnd: In each panel, k4, kfb, k4, p1 (adds 6 sts total).
  2. Work 4 rnds maintaining channels.
  3. Repeat the increase rnd once more (adds 6 sts total).
  4. Work 6 rnds maintaining channels.

Stop when skirt length from waistband is about 3–3.5 in (7.5–9 cm). The skirt in the image ends above the shoes, leaving the tied straps visible.

Hem Finish

  1. Work 2 rnds garter in the round: Rnd 1 knit, Rnd 2 purl.
  2. BO loosely in knit. Weave in ends.

Snapdragon Blossom Panels (Applique Placement)

In the photo, blossoms appear on several skirt panels, spaced evenly. Plan 4 blossom panels on the front and sides, leaving the back simpler so the skirt drapes cleanly.

  • Choose 4 panels: front center-left, front center-right, left side, right side.
  • On each chosen panel, place a vertical stack of blossom clusters: 5–7 clusters per panel.
  • Add small green leaf stitches near the base of each stack.
  • Keep all stacks the same height so the skirt looks balanced.

Floral Cap Hat (Cream with Vertical Blossom Stripes)

The hat is a soft cream cap with ear coverage and a ribbed brim. It has vertical decorative stripes made from snapdragon clusters in pinks, purples, and yellow, plus small green leaves beneath some clusters. The hat covers the top of the bunny’s head and lets the ears hang down at the sides.

Hat Base

  1. With US 3 and cream, CO 72 sts. Join in the round.
  2. Rnd 1–8: (k2, p2) rib around for the brim.
  3. Rnd 9–18: k all (72).

Begin crown shaping. Keep decreases evenly spaced so the hat stays smooth and rounded.

  1. Rnd 19: (k10, k2tog) repeat (66).
  2. Rnd 20: k all (66).
  3. Rnd 21: (k9, k2tog) repeat (60).
  4. Rnd 22: k all (60).
  5. Rnd 23: (k8, k2tog) repeat (54).
  6. Rnd 24: k all (54).
  7. Rnd 25: (k7, k2tog) repeat (48).
  8. Rnd 26: k all (48).
  9. Rnd 27: (k6, k2tog) repeat (42).
  10. Rnd 28: k all (42).
  11. Rnd 29: (k5, k2tog) repeat (36).
  12. Rnd 30: (k4, k2tog) repeat (30).
  13. Rnd 31: (k3, k2tog) repeat (24).
  14. Rnd 32: (k2, k2tog) repeat (18).
  15. Rnd 33: (k1, k2tog) repeat (12).
  16. Rnd 34: (k2tog) repeat (6). Cut yarn, pull through, close. Weave in end.

Ear Flaps (Make 2, Knit On)

The hat sits low and has soft ear coverage. Add two flaps that fall on the sides, like the cap shape in the photo.

  1. With RS facing, pick up and knit 18 sts along one side of the brim edge.
  2. Work flat in garter for 10 rows (k every row).
  3. Shape flap: On each RS row, k1, ssk, k to last 3, k2tog, k1. Repeat until 6 sts remain.
  4. Work 2 rows even, then BO. Repeat on the other side, aligning flaps symmetrically.

Hat Blossom Stripes (Vertical Layout)

Mark 6 vertical stripes evenly around the hat: front center, two near the front sides, two near the back sides, and back center. On each stripe, stitch blossom clusters in stacked groups, like snapdragon spikes.

  • Each stripe: 6–8 blossom clusters stacked from brim upward.
  • Use mixed blossom colors per stripe, but keep stripes similar in density.
  • Add 1–2 green leaf stitches near the lower half of each stripe.
  • Leave a small gap above the brim so the ribbing stays visible.

Shoes (Beige with Tie Straps)

The shoes are soft beige with a rounded toe and a simple strap/tie detail around the ankle. The ties are thin cords wrapped and knotted, matching the cute ballet-flat look in the photo.

Shoe Sole (Make 2)

  1. With US 2 and beige, CO 8 sts. Work flat in garter.
  2. Row 1: k all.
  3. Row 2: kfb, k to last 1, kfb (10).
  4. Row 3: k all.
  5. Row 4: kfb, k to last 1, kfb (12).
  6. Row 5–10: k all (12).
  7. Row 11: k2tog, k to last 2, k2tog (10).
  8. Row 12: k all.
  9. Row 13: k2tog, k to last 2, k2tog (8). BO.

📌Thank you for reading the article

Shoe Upper (Make 2)

  1. With beige, pick up and knit 28 sts evenly around sole edge. Join in the round.
  2. Rnd 1–3: k all.
  3. Toe shaping: Rnd 4: (k5, k2tog) repeat around.
  4. Rnd 5: k all.
  5. Rnd 6: (k4, k2tog) repeat around.
  6. Rnd 7: k all.
  7. BO loosely. Sew a small back seam if needed to snug the fit.

Ties (Make 2)

  1. With beige, CO 3 sts for I-cord.
  2. Knit I-cord until 10–12 in (25–30 cm) long.
  3. BO and weave in ends.

Thread tie through the shoe sides near the opening. Wrap around the ankle twice and tie a small bow or knot at the front, matching the wrapped look in the photo.

Accessories

Rainbow Shoulder Bag (Striped)

The bag is a soft rectangular pouch with pastel rainbow stripes and a long strap draped on the table. It looks plush and slightly rounded. You can use self-striping yarn or change colors every few rows to mimic the rainbow effect.

Bag Body

  1. With US 3 and rainbow yarn, CO 28 sts. Work flat in stockinette for 32 rows.
  2. Change stripe colors every 2–4 rows if using separate colors.
  3. BO. Fold rectangle in half with RS facing out.
  4. Mattress stitch the side seams, leaving the top open.

For a slightly puffed look, add a tiny pinch of stuffing in the bottom corners before closing seams. Keep it subtle so the bag still looks like fabric, not a toy.

Bag Gusset (Optional for Shape)

  1. Pick up and knit 10 sts along one bottom edge, knit 8 rows, BO.
  2. Repeat for the other bottom edge, then stitch gussets in place.

Bag Strap

  1. With rainbow yarn, CO 3 sts for I-cord.
  2. Work I-cord to 18–24 in (46–61 cm) long, so it can drape like the photo.
  3. BO and sew strap ends securely to bag sides.

If you want the strap to hold a gentle curve for display, thread a thin wire inside the I-cord before sewing, then bend softly. For a child-safe item, skip wire and keep strap fully yarn-based.

Snapdragon Bouquet (Small Hand Bouquet)

The bouquet is a small bunch of snapdragon spikes tied with a light wrap. In the photo, blossoms are clustered and colorful, with green stems gathered at the base.

Stems (Make 5–7)

  1. With green, CO 3 sts for I-cord.
  2. Work I-cord 3.5–4.5 in (9–11.5 cm) long.
  3. BO, leaving a tail for attaching blossoms.

Snapdragon Blossom Cluster (Make 30–40 small clusters)

Each cluster is a tiny 3-bobble group that reads as a floral puff. Stitch them onto stems in stacked rows.

  1. With a blossom color, CO 3 sts.
  2. Row 1: kfb in each st (6).
  3. Row 2: p all (6).
  4. Row 3: (k2tog) three times (3).
  5. Cut yarn, thread through 3 sts, pull tight into a tiny nub. Knot.

Make clusters in mixed colors. For a natural snapdragon look, place lighter colors near the top of a stem and deeper colors toward the middle and base. Keep clusters small and dense so they look like the photo’s tight blossoms.

Attach Blossoms to Stems

  • Lay one stem flat and mark 5 attachment spots evenly spaced from the top down.
  • Sew 2–3 clusters at each spot, slightly offset, to build a stacked spike.
  • Add a tiny green leaf stitch at one or two lower spots using duplicate stitch.
  • Repeat for all stems, then gather stems into a bunch.

Bundle Wrap

  1. With cream or a pale yarn, CO 8 sts and knit 6 rows.
  2. BO. Wrap around stems near the base and stitch in place.

Ribbon Confetti Pieces (Small Strips)

Near the card in the photo, there are small colorful ribbon-like pieces laid on the table. Make 8–12 tiny knit strips in pastel colors. Keep edges neat so they look like little ribbons.

  1. With any pastel color, CO 6 sts.
  2. Knit 6 rows in garter (k every row).
  3. BO. Weave in ends.

Make strips in multiple colors: pink, lavender, blue, yellow, and cream. For a ribbon look, pinch one end and stitch a tiny fold so the strip has a slight curved shape when placed on a surface.

Mini Tag Card (Soft Knit Rectangle)

The small label card in the photo can be recreated as a tiny knit rectangle. You can embroider simple lines or tiny “label” marks, keeping it subtle and decorative.

  1. With cream, CO 18 sts.
  2. Work 10 rows garter.
  3. BO. Weave in ends.

Embroider 2–3 short horizontal lines in gray or light brown to mimic text. Keep it minimal so it stays within the clean handmade look.

Mini Mouse Companion

Mouse Body (Beige or Light Taupe)

The mouse is small with a pointed snout and tiny rounded ears. It wears a sailor-style dress with blue trim and a matching cap. Keep features simple and sweet to match the gentle aesthetic of the set.

  1. With US 2 and beige, CO 6 sts. Join in the round.
  2. Rnd 1: k all.
  3. Rnd 2: kfb each st (12).
  4. Rnd 3: k all (12).
  5. Rnd 4: (k1, kfb) repeat (18).
  6. Rnd 5–8: k all (18).

Shape the snout by adding a few decreases at the front center. This creates the mouse’s tiny pointed face without making it too sharp.

  1. Rnd 9: k7, ssk, k2tog, k7 (16).
  2. Rnd 10–12: k all (16).
  3. Begin stuffing lightly.
  4. Rnd 13: (k2, k2tog) repeat (12).
  5. Rnd 14: k all (12).
  6. Rnd 15: (k1, k2tog) repeat (8).
  7. Rnd 16: (k2tog) repeat (4). Cut yarn, close. Weave in.

Mouse Ears (Make 2)

Snapdragon Motif Sewing Guide (Hat and Skirt)

The key to matching the image is the neat placement of blossom clusters. Work slowly, and use pins or removable markers to map each vertical stripe. Keep the density consistent so panels look intentionally designed, not random.

  • Hat stripes: 6 vertical stripes, each with 6–8 cluster points from brim toward crown.
  • Skirt panels: 4 decorated panels, each with 5–7 cluster points stacked upward.
  • Color balance: Do not place all bright yellow on one side. Spread yellow accents across multiple stripes.
  • Leaf stitches: Use green duplicate stitch as small “V” shapes beneath lower clusters.

When sewing clusters, anchor them tightly at the base only. Let the top of the puff sit free so it reads as a rounded blossom. This creates the raised texture seen in the photo without making the fabric stiff.

Assembly

Attach Legs to Body

Place the legs on the lower front of the torso so the bunny sits with legs extended. The toes point forward, and the legs are close together, leaving only a small gap.

  • Pin legs first and check symmetry from the front.
  • Sew each leg securely, adding extra stuffing at the hip if needed.
  • Keep the join smooth so the skirt waistband sits flat above the legs.

Attach Arms

Arms sit slightly forward so they appear from under the cardigan sleeves. Angle them gently outward like a relaxed pose.

  • Pin each arm at the upper torso sides, about 1 in (2.5 cm) below the neck opening.
  • Sew with small stitches, then add a final hidden tack at the inner arm to stop wobble.

Attach Tail (Optional)

  • Sew tail centered on the lower back of the torso.
  • Keep it small so it does not push the skirt outward.

Join Head to Body

Use the long torso tail to sew the head to the neck opening. Keep the head centered and slightly forward so the face looks attentive, like in the photo.

  • Stitch around the neck opening once, then tighten gently.
  • Add more stuffing at the neck if the head feels soft.
  • Stitch around a second time for strength.

Attach Ears

Ears hang down and are partly covered by the hat flaps. Sew ears slightly lower than a typical upright bunny so they naturally fall along the sides of the head.

  • Place each ear about 1 in (2.5 cm) from the top center seam area.
  • Sew the ear base firmly, leaving the rest free to drape.

Dress the Bunny

  • Put the skirt on first, aligning decorated panels to the front and sides.
  • Slide on the cardigan, adjust sleeves so cuffs show cleanly.
  • Set the sailor collar so it lays flat across the shoulders.
  • Place the hat, tucking ears under the flaps to match the photo.
  • Put on shoes and wrap ankle ties, then knot at the front.

Style the Scene Accessories

  • Arrange the rainbow bag beside the bunny, letting the strap drape naturally.
  • Place the bouquet near the bunny’s foot, angled outward for photos.
  • Set the small tag card near the confetti strips.
  • Scatter ribbon confetti pieces in a small cluster like the image.
  • Pose the mouse friend close to the bunny, facing slightly inward.

Final Assembly and Facial Detailing

Embroider the bunny eyes as small vertical ovals in black, placed evenly on the face and slightly above the muzzle bump. Stitch a tiny “Y” nose and a short split mouth, keeping lines thin and centered. If desired, add one soft brown stitch under the nose for gentle depth.

For the mouse, use smaller eye ovals and a shorter mouth line. Keep all facial stitching minimal so it looks calm and sweet. After embroidery, lightly rub the face with your fingers to settle stitches into the knit surface.

Care Notes

This set is best as a decorative keepsake. Handle the floral clusters gently to avoid pulling. Keep the hat stripes and skirt appliques away from rough surfaces. If displayed on a shelf, rotate occasionally so light exposure stays even across the blue and cream fabrics.

Quick Checklist Before You Finish

  • Head is firmly stuffed and smoothly round, with a gentle muzzle bump.
  • Ears drape evenly and sit at matching heights.
  • Hat fits low with flaps aligned and blossom stripes balanced.
  • Cardigan lace panels are centered and both fronts sit evenly.
  • Sailor collar lays flat and the blue edge is clean.
  • Skirt panels are straight, and decorated panels match left-to-right.
  • Shoes match in size and ties wrap neatly at the same height.
  • Bag strap is secure, bouquet stems are bundled tightly, and ribbons are neatly finished.

Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines

For routine care, use a soft dry brush to lift dust from flower clusters and lace areas. For a small spot, dab with cool water and a tiny amount of gentle soap, then blot with a clean towel. Reshape the hat flaps, skirt hem, and collar while damp and let air-dry completely.

Store the bunny and accessories in a breathable cotton bag. Support the hat and skirt with tissue so the appliques do not flatten. Avoid tight plastic containers for long storage. Keep ribbon confetti pieces in a small envelope so they do not snag on blossoms or lace.
