This cheerful frog amigurumi is made with a bright green body, rounded frog eyes, a wide soft mouth ridge, long slim arms and legs, blue sandals, blue shorts, and a yellow-and-blue striped sunflower shirt. The set also includes a sunny yellow hat with a blue bow, a blue sunflower shoulder bag, a tiny watering can, and a small garden trowel for the full garden-table look.
Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.
Pattern Overview
This pattern is written in US crochet terms and is worked mostly in continuous rounds. The finished frog is designed to have the same relaxed garden-doll style shown in the image: a wide rounded head, large raised eyes, a horizontal mouth roll, a soft striped shirt, fitted blue shorts, long green limbs, flat blue sandals, sunflower decorations, and matching gardening accessories.
The main frog should look soft and slightly oversized in the head, with a shorter body and long dangling legs. The accessories are made separately and sewn or tied in place, so you can position them exactly as shown: the large hat to the right of the frog, the shoulder bag beside it, and the tools near the feet.
Finished Size
- Frog height: about 15 inches from top of eyes to bottom of sandals.
- Head width: about 4.75 inches across when stuffed firmly.
- Body height: about 4 inches before legs are attached.
- Arm length: about 5.25 inches from shoulder to fingertips.
- Leg length: about 5.75 inches from shorts to sandal.
- Hat diameter: about 5.5 inches across.
- Bag size: about 3.25 inches wide and 2.25 inches tall.

Gauge and Crochet Texture
Use a tight amigurumi gauge so the stuffing does not show. With a 3.25 mm hook and worsted yarn, 6 sc across should measure about 1 inch. The visible stitches in the image are compact, even, and rounded, so avoid loose tension.
The frog body should be stuffed firmly enough to hold shape, but the arms and legs should remain slightly flexible. The shirt, shorts, hat, and bag should not be stuffed heavily. They should keep a smooth crocheted texture and sit naturally against the frog.
Color Placement Notes
- Frog skin: bright green for head, eyes, body base, arms, legs, fingers, toes, and upper foot details.
- Eyes: raised green eye domes with white front patches and black pupils.
- Mouth: a thick green horizontal roll sewn across the lower face.
- Shirt: yellow base with blue horizontal stripes.
- Shorts: solid medium blue with two leg openings.
- Hat: yellow round crown and wide brim with blue tie ribbon.
- Bag: blue rectangle with blue strap and three sunflowers across the front.
- Sandals: blue top straps, beige soles, green toes, and yellow sunflower accents.

Stuff the head very firmly, especially across the cheeks and lower face. FO with a long tail. Do not close the bottom completely if you prefer to sew the neck into the opening later. The wider area made in R17-R20 forms the broad frog cheeks visible in the image.
Raised Frog Eyes
Make two eye domes in green. Each eye is a rounded bump attached on top of the head, angled slightly outward. The white eye patch is sewn on the front of each dome, and the black eye sits near the lower inner side of the white patch.

Roll the strip lengthwise into a soft tube and sew the long edges together. Position it across the face from cheek to cheek, slightly curved downward at both ends. Sew firmly along the top and bottom edges, leaving the middle raised and rounded.
Body Base
The body is crocheted in green first, then covered by the striped shirt and blue shorts. Keep the body short and rounded, smaller than the head, so the frog has the same cute doll-like proportions.

- R3: Sc in next 4 sts, hdc in next st, dc in next 2 sts, hdc in next st, sc in next 4 sts. FO.
Sew the blade to one end of the brown handle. Flatten the blade gently so it looks like a small garden scoop.
Neck and Head Attachment
The head sits directly on the body with very little visible neck. This makes the frog look plush and rounded like the image.
- Pin the head to the body with the eyes facing forward.
- The lower mouth ridge should sit above the shirt neckline.
- Use the body tail to sew around the neck opening twice.
- Add extra stitches at the front so the head does not tilt backward.
- Check from the side before knotting the yarn.
For the most accurate expression, the eye domes should sit high and slightly apart. The mouth ridge should be centered and horizontal, with the ends curving gently toward the cheeks.
Arm Placement
Pin the arms on both sides of the shirt, just below the neckline. The arms should hang downward, not stick out stiffly. The hands should reach close to the bottom of the shorts.
- Place the right arm at R4-R6 of the shirt side.
- Place the left arm at the matching height on the opposite side.
- Sew each arm in a circular seam using green yarn.
- Slide one striped sleeve over the top of each arm.
- Sew the sleeve top to the shirt and the lower edge lightly to the arm.
Leg and Shorts Placement
The legs should come out from the shorts openings with a narrow gap between them. They should hang straight down when the frog is lying flat.
- Insert each leg into a shorts opening.
- Sew around the opening using blue yarn if attaching through the shorts.
- Add a few green stitches underneath for strength.
- Attach the feet at the bottom of the legs with toes pointing forward.
- Sew sandals to feet after checking that both feet lie flat.
Flower Placement Guide
- Head flower: Sew one sunflower beside the frog’s right eye, tilted upward.
- Shirt flowers: Sew one sunflower on the upper left chest and one on the lower right front.
- Red buttons: Place one red button near the right upper chest and one near the left lower shirt.
- Sandal flowers: Sew one sunflower on the outer top of each blue sandal strap.
- Bag flowers: Sew three sunflowers evenly across the front of the blue bag.
- Leaves: Add green leaves beside selected sunflowers, not every flower, so the design stays clean.
Detailed Shirt Finishing
To make the shirt match the image, keep the yellow rounds wider than the blue stripes. The blue stripes should look like thin horizontal bands, while yellow remains the dominant color. Avoid pulling the color changes too tight.
When sewing on the sunflower appliqués, catch only the back loops of the flower centers when possible. This lets the yellow petals lift slightly from the shirt, creating the raised decorative look shown in the photo.
Detailed Hat Shaping
The hat brim should lie almost flat, with only a gentle curve at the edge. If your brim curls upward too much, lightly steam it with your hand hovering above the steam, then press it flat with your fingers. Do not touch a hot iron directly to acrylic yarn.
The blue ribbon is important for matching the image. Tie it loosely, not tightly. The bow should look relaxed and handmade, with two slim tails hanging from the side of the brim.
Detailed Bag Shaping
The bag should be a soft rectangle with rounded corners. After sewing the two panels together, shape the bottom corners with your fingers. Do not overstuff the bag; the image shows a flat accessory pouch rather than a bulky bag.
The strap should be long enough to loop from the bag up toward the hat area. If you want the frog to wear it, shorten the strap to about 65 chains instead of 95 chains.
Facial Embroidery
The frog face stays simple. Do not add a large smile, because the image shows the expression created mostly by the raised mouth ridge and eye placement. A tiny dark green or matching green line under the mouth ridge is enough if you want extra definition.
- Thread a yarn needle with dark green yarn.
- Make one shallow horizontal stitch under the center of the mouth ridge.
- Keep the stitch about 1 inch long.
- Hide both yarn ends inside the head.
Optional Stability for Display
If this frog will be used mostly for display, you can add a small amount of plastic pellets inside the lower body before stuffing. Place the pellets in a fabric pouch first so they do not slip through the crochet stitches.
For a child-safe version, skip pellets and use only fiberfill. Embroider the eyes instead of using safety eyes if the toy is intended for a child under three years old.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
- Sew the body to the head securely with the head centered over the shirt.
- Attach the eye domes high on the head, leaving a narrow space between them.
- Sew the white eye patches to the front of the domes and attach black eyes evenly.
- Place the mouth ridge across the lower face, curving the ends slightly downward.
- Attach arms under the sleeves and legs through the shorts openings.
- Sew sandals to feet and add one sunflower to each sandal strap.
- Add shirt sunflowers, red buttons, and leaves after all limbs are attached.
- Place the hat, bag, watering can, and trowel around the frog for the full garden scene.
Care Notes
- Spot clean the frog with a damp cloth and mild soap.
- Do not soak if safety eyes, pellets, or glued details are used.
- Reshape the hat brim while damp and let it dry flat.
- Keep the small trowel and watering can in a safe place when not displayed.
Quick Checklist Before You Finish
- The head is wider than the body and firmly stuffed.
- The eyes are raised, rounded, and angled slightly inward.
- The mouth ridge is thick, soft, and horizontal.
- The shirt has alternating yellow and blue stripes.
- The blue shorts sit directly below the shirt.
- The arms and legs are long, slim, and flexible.
- The sandals show green toes at the front.
- The sunflower decorations are visible on the head, shirt, sandals, and bag.
- The yellow hat has a wide brim and blue bow.
- The bag has three sunflowers across the front.
Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
Store the finished frog away from direct sunlight to protect the yellow, blue, and green colors. If dust collects on the hat brim or sunflower petals, use a soft dry brush and gently sweep outward from the center.
For long-term display, keep the frog lying flat or sitting with support behind the head. The long arms and legs are intentionally soft, so avoid hanging the doll by one limb. Store the tiny gardening tools in a small pouch to prevent loss.
If the brim, bag, or sleeves flatten over time, reshape them by hand. Lightly mist with water, press the pieces into shape, and let them air dry completely before storing.
