This cheerful frog amigurumi is designed with a bright green body, raised white-and-green eyes, round pink cheeks, a wide padded smile, yellow textured overalls, long thin arms and legs, brown flower sandals, a red apple patch, a strawberry crossbody bag, two loose crochet apples, and a sunny straw-style hat with a red ribbon and daisy decoration.
Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.
Pattern Overview
This pattern creates a seated frog doll with long relaxed limbs and a large friendly face. The frog has a rounded head blended into a smaller body, oversized protruding eyes, and a thick oval lip that forms the open-mouth expression seen in the image.
The yellow overalls are worked as a fitted garment with short pants, a bib, shoulder straps, small button details, and a front apple appliqué. The accessories are important for matching the photo, so the strawberry bag, hat, flowers, sandals, and loose apples are included with specific stitch counts.
Finished Size
- Finished frog height, seated with legs extended: about 13.5 in / 34 cm.
- Head width across eyes: about 5.5 in / 14 cm.
- Body height without head: about 4.5 in / 11.5 cm.
- Leg length from short cuff to sandal: about 5.25 in / 13 cm.
- Hat diameter: about 4.5 in / 11.5 cm.
- Strawberry bag height: about 2.25 in / 5.5 cm.
Skill Level
Confident beginner to intermediate. The basic shapes use simple amigurumi rounds, but the doll has many small layered details. Take your time with the mouth shaping, eye placement, straps, and accessories, because those elements create the frog’s personality.
Materials
- Worsted weight cotton or cotton-blend yarn in bright frog green.
- Worsted weight yarn in white for eye fronts and daisies.
- Worsted weight yarn in yellow for overalls and hat.
- Small amount of darker yellow or tan for hat shading if desired.
- Small amount of red yarn for apple, strawberry bag, and hat ribbon.
- Small amount of pink yarn for cheeks.
- Small amount of orange yarn for left flower.
- Small amount of blue yarn for right flower.
- Small amount of green yarn in a leaf shade for strawberry top and apple leaves.
- Small amount of brown yarn for sandals, bag strap, apple stems, and hat cord details.
- Small amount of cream or beige yarn for sandal soles.
- 2 black safety eyes, 10 mm to 12 mm.
- 2 small tan buttons, about 8 mm to 10 mm wide.
- Fiberfill stuffing.
- 3.0 mm crochet hook for firm amigurumi fabric.
- 2.5 mm crochet hook for flowers, appliqués, and small details.
- Yarn needle.
- Stitch markers.
- Embroidery needle for tiny white strawberry seeds.
- Scissors.
- Long pins for assembly.
Gauge
Gauge is not critical, but tight stitching is important. With a 3.0 mm hook, 7 single crochet stitches and 7 rounds should measure about 1 in / 2.5 cm when worked in continuous rounds. If stuffing shows through, use a smaller hook.

Important Construction Notes
Work most pieces in continuous spiral rounds unless the pattern says to join. Use a stitch marker in the first stitch of each round. Stuff firmly enough to hold the sculpted shape, but do not overstuff the limbs because they should look slim and slightly flexible.
The frog in the image has a wide, soft, flattened mouth edge. This is not only embroidered; it is made with a separate padded oval lip ring sewn across the lower face. The dark opening under the lip is created by shadow and placement.

The overalls are crocheted as a separate outfit and fitted onto the frog body before the head is fully secured. This makes it easier to position the bib, straps, buttons, and apple patch neatly on the front.

- FO and sew beside the stem.
Optional Yellow Overall Texture
The overalls in the image have a visible crocheted grid texture. If you want stronger texture, work the shorts and bib with alternating rows of regular sc and BLO sc. This keeps the fabric firm while making horizontal ridges that photograph well.
- For shorts: Work R2, R4, R6, R8, R11, and R14 in BLO.
- For bib: Work Rows 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 in BLO.
- For straps: Work the second row through BLO for a slight raised edge.
Facial Placement Guide
Before sewing permanently, pin every facial piece in place. The frog’s expression depends on spacing. The eye domes should be high and rounded, the white patches should face forward, and the mouth lip should sit wide and horizontal.
- Eye domes: top of head, starting around head R4 and ending around R12.
- White eye patches: front of domes, slightly lower than center.
- Black safety eyes: upper outer area of each white patch.
- Mouth lip: centered across head R13-R18.
- Pink cheeks: under eyes, near mouth corners.
- Flowers: near outer eye bases, one orange and one blue.
Assembly Order
- Sew the eye domes to the head first. Stuff them lightly before closing the last stitches.
- Sew white eye patches to the domes if they were not already attached.
- Install or sew black eyes securely.
- Pin the padded mouth ring across the lower face and sew it slowly along both top and bottom edges.
- Add the dark mouth shadow underneath the lip.
- Sew on the pink cheeks.
- Sew the body to the bottom of the head, keeping the head slightly forward-facing.
- Attach the legs to the lower body and check that they hang evenly.
- Slide the yellow shorts onto the body and secure the waist invisibly with small yellow stitches.
- Sew the bib flat against the front body.
- Add straps over the shoulders and sew on buttons.
- Sew the arms to the upper body sides, just under the shoulder line.
- Attach sandals to the leg ends and add toes and daisies.
- Sew the apple patch to the bib.
- Place the strawberry bag strap diagonally across the body and tack it at the shoulder and side.
- Add the head flowers and small leaves.
- Finish the hat, ribbon, bow, and daisy.
- Make the two loose apples and position them beside the frog for display.
Detailed Sewing Tips
Use the same yarn color as the piece being attached whenever possible. For example, sew the mouth with green yarn, the bib with yellow yarn, and the strawberry cap with green yarn. Matching yarn hides stitches and gives the finished toy a cleaner look.
When attaching the mouth, sew the back edge first. Then add a small amount of stuffing inside the lip tube and sew the front edge. This helps the mouth stay rounded rather than flat.
The long arms should not point straight sideways. Angle them downward from the shoulders so the hands rest near the frog’s hips. This relaxed pose matches the photo and makes the doll look soft and friendly.
When sewing the legs, place them slightly forward under the body. The frog should look seated, not standing. The overalls shorts should cover the upper leg joins, leaving only the long green lower legs visible.
Embroidery Details
- Use white yarn or embroidery floss to make tiny strawberry seeds.
- Use brown yarn to add small button holes if using crochet buttons.
- Use a short green stitch at the top of the bib apple to define the leaf base.
- Use tiny hidden stitches to tack the hat ribbon so it does not slide.
- Use pink yarn tails to secure cheeks firmly and keep them flat.

The most important visual features are the wide lip, the raised eyes, the yellow overalls, and the strawberry bag. If your doll looks different, check these four areas before changing anything else. Small adjustments in placement can completely change the expression.
- If the frog looks too narrow, add one extra round of 54 sc to the head before decreasing.
- If the mouth looks too small, make the starting chain 47 instead of 43.
- If the overalls are loose, sew the waist to the body with hidden yellow stitches.
- If the arms look stiff, reduce stuffing and gently roll the arm tubes between your fingers.
- If the hat brim curls too much, block it flat and add a second sl st edge round.
Finishing the Yellow Overalls Fit
After the shorts are on the frog, gently pull the front bib upward so it lies flat over the belly. The top of the bib should sit below the mouth and between the straps. Sew the side edges of the bib to the body using small hidden stitches.
The straps should be visible from the front and should frame the frog’s chest. Sew the buttons on top of the strap ends, not beside them. This makes the buttons look functional and gives the overalls the same handmade charm as the image.
Finishing the Strawberry Bag
Place the brown strap over one shoulder, across the chest, and down to the opposite hip. The strap should cross over the yellow overalls and pass beside the apple patch. Do not pull it too tight, because a tight strap can distort the body shape.
Sew the strawberry bag to the lower front side of the overalls with two small hidden stitches. This keeps the bag from swinging too far away while still looking like a separate accessory.
Finishing the Hat
The hat may be displayed next to the frog, as shown in the image. If you prefer the frog to wear it, place the crown behind the eye domes and tilt the brim slightly to one side. Secure with two removable stitches behind the eyes.
The red ribbon should sit at the base of the crown, not at the outer brim edge. Add the bow and daisy on one side so the hat has the same cheerful picnic style as the reference.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
Check the face from the front before tying off any final yarn tails. The eyes should look upward and outward, the cheeks should sit evenly, and the mouth should look wide and soft. Add small shaping stitches at the mouth corners if needed.
- Pull the mouth corners slightly upward for a sweeter expression.
- Keep the dark mouth shadow centered and tucked inside.
- Brush away loose fibers around the eyes and cheeks.
- Make sure all flowers are firmly sewn down.
- Hide every yarn tail inside the head or body.
Care Notes
Spot clean the frog with cool water and mild soap. Do not soak if you used safety eyes, buttons, or stiffened accessories. Press gently with a towel and let the toy air dry completely before storing or displaying.

Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
Store the finished frog away from direct sunlight to protect the bright green, yellow, and red yarn colors. If the hat brim flattens, reshape it gently by hand and let it rest on a flat surface overnight.
For long-term display, keep the frog in a dry area and avoid heavy objects pressing on the eyes, mouth, or flowers. If dust appears, use a soft brush or lint roller with very light pressure.
If giving this frog to a child, replace safety eyes and buttons with embroidered details for extra security. Check all sewn pieces often, especially the strawberry bag, sandal flowers, and small apples.
