This knitted raccoon amigurumi wears warm mustard yellow fox overalls with a rounded romper shape, embroidered woodland details, blue sandals, a fox-face crossbody bag, and a leafy autumn headband. Pattern Overview
This pattern is written for a small knitted raccoon doll with a plump seated body, rounded head, narrow arms, short legs, and detailed accessories. The finished doll is worked mostly in the round on double-pointed needles or using the magic-loop method.
The raccoon has a gray body with darker charcoal ears, a white face center, black eye mask shaping, and a small embroidered nose. The yellow overalls are knitted separately and fitted over the body, with short sleeves, a rounded bib front, and wide puffy legs.
- Finished doll height: about 9.5 inches from ears to feet.
- Finished width: about 4.25 inches across the widest part of the overalls.
- Skill level: confident beginner to intermediate.
- Construction: body, head, limbs, clothing, bag, hat, and accessories are knitted separately, stuffed, then sewn together.
- Gauge: 7 stitches and 10 rounds per inch in stockinette using toy-weight tension.
Materials
- Fingering or sport weight yarn in medium raccoon gray.
- Small amounts of charcoal gray, black, white, mustard yellow, rusty orange, tan, brown, sky blue, olive green, purple, burgundy, and cream.

- White embroidery thread for eye shine and whisker anchoring.

Helpful Notes Before Starting
Work the doll fabric tightly so the stuffing does not show through. If your knitted fabric looks loose, change to a smaller needle. The raccoon should feel firm but still soft, with smooth shaping at the head, belly, and feet.
The overalls are intentionally roomy and rounded. The legs are wider than the raccoon’s actual legs, creating the puffed romper look shown in the image. Keep the shoulder area snug so the outfit sits neatly under the head.
Use mattress stitch for most seams. When sewing accessories to the doll, use small hidden stitches and match the sewing yarn to the knitted piece whenever possible.
Raccoon Head
The head is oval and slightly wider at the cheeks. It is worked from the neck upward, with color changes added later by duplicate stitch and embroidery so the shaping stays smooth.

White Face Patch
The white face patch is stitched onto the front of the head after knitting. It should look like a soft vertical oval from the forehead down to the muzzle, with white areas around the eyes and cheeks.
- Using white yarn and duplicate stitch, cover a center oval that is 16 stitches wide at the cheeks and 18 rows tall.
- Begin 3 rounds above the eyes and end 3 rounds below the eyes.
- Shape the patch with a narrow top, wide cheek area, and rounded lower muzzle.
- Keep the gray visible at the outer sides of the head.
Black Raccoon Mask
The mask should frame the eyes in two dark teardrop shapes. Each side begins near the bridge of the nose and widens outward toward the ears.
- With black yarn, duplicate stitch a slanted patch around each eye.
- For each eye patch, cover about 7 stitches wide and 8 rows tall.
- Make the inner edge narrow near the nose and the outer edge wider near the cheek.
- Add 2 charcoal gray stitches above each black patch to soften the transition.
Muzzle, Nose, and Mouth
The muzzle is a small raised oval sewn onto the lower front of the head. It gives the raccoon its gentle rounded expression.

- Embroider a small rounded black nose over the upper center of the muzzle, about 4 stitches wide.
- Make one short vertical black stitch below the nose.
- Add a tiny curved smile using two small diagonal stitches.
- Add white eye highlights with one tiny stitch on the upper outside of each eye.
- Add 3 fine whiskers on each side using white or light gray thread.

Fitting the Clothing
Place the overalls over the raccoon before sewing the headband, bag, or sandals. The yellow romper should sit high under the chin, with the short sleeves covering the shoulder joins and the wide legs ending above the gray ankles.
- Use small yellow stitches to tack the overalls at the back neck.
- Tack each sleeve to the top of the arm so it does not twist.
- Tack the lower overall cuffs just above each gray ankle.
- Do not over-tighten the stitches, because the romper should keep its soft rounded shape.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
Sew the head, body, arms, and legs together before adding the accessories. Pin every piece first and check the sitting balance from the front, side, and top. The raccoon should look centered, with the face turned forward and the feet resting evenly.
- Attach the ears high on the head, angled slightly outward.
- Sew the muzzle flat at the top and lightly raised at the lower edge.
- Place the headband across the top of the head after the ears are secure.
- Position the fox bag at the lower front of the overalls, slightly to one side.
- Sew sandals to the feet with hidden stitches under the sole.
- Add final whiskers only after all face embroidery is finished.
Care Notes
Spot clean the raccoon with cool water and mild soap. Avoid soaking the doll, because the embroidered details, small accessories, and stuffed shape may shift if heavily washed.
- Do not machine wash.
- Do not tumble dry.
- Reshape gently by hand after cleaning.
- Let the doll air dry flat on a towel.
Quick Checklist Before You Finish
- The face has white center shaping, black mask patches, black nose, smile, and whiskers.
- The ears are charcoal outside with gray inner panels.
- The yellow overalls have wide legs, short sleeves, and woodland embroidery.
- The fox bag has a strap, ears, white muzzle, eyes, and nose.
- The blue sandals include tan soles and small flower accents.
- The beanie has fox ears and a rusty orange pom-pom.
- The acorn and yarn basket are finished as separate props.
Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
Store the finished raccoon in a dry place away from direct sunlight. Bright light may fade mustard, orange, and blue yarn over time. Keep the doll in a breathable cotton bag if it will be stored for a long period.
To remove dust, use a soft clean brush and work gently around the embroidery. If the fox bag or headband becomes bent, reshape it with your fingers and secure it with a few hidden stitches if needed.
- Keep away from pets that may pull small parts loose.
- Check stitched accessories occasionally and reinforce loose seams.
- Avoid strong perfume, bleach, or harsh cleaning sprays.
- For display, place the raccoon beside the beanie, acorn, and basket to recreate the full woodland scene.
