This knitted Mushroom Garden Scottish Fold Cat is a soft seated garden kitten with a round gray tabby head, folded ears, golden embroidered eyes, green overalls, a striped cream shirt, a tiny mushroom hat decoration, a removable garden hat, sandals with ladybug accents, a brown crossbody bag, a small watering can, and a mini basket of vegetables. The finished design is detailed, cozy, and made to look like the charming knitted cat shown in the image.
Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.
Finished Size
- Finished cat height while seated: about 10.5 in / 27 cm from the bottom to the top of the head.
- Height including mushroom topper: about 12 in / 30.5 cm.
- Head width: about 5 in / 12.5 cm across the widest cheek area.
- Body height: about 4.5 in / 11.5 cm from neck to seat.
- Leg length: about 4 in / 10 cm from hip to sandal.
- Hat width: about 5.5 in / 14 cm across the brim.
Yarn and Materials
- Main cat yarn: worsted weight yarn in medium gray, dark charcoal gray, and light silver gray.
- Face details: small amounts of black, pink, white, golden yellow, and dark brown yarn or embroidery thread.
- Overalls: worsted weight yarn in moss green.
- Shirt: cream worsted weight yarn and cocoa brown worsted weight yarn.
- Bag: warm brown worsted weight yarn, plus a small orange carrot piece.
- Mushroom topper: cream yarn for the stem, chestnut brown yarn for the cap, and white yarn for spots.
- Garden hat: moss green yarn, plus floral ribbon or a knitted floral band.
- Sandals: beige yarn, plus red and black embroidery for ladybugs.
- Accessories: pale blue yarn for the watering can and beige yarn for the vegetable basket.
- Needles: US 3 / 3.25 mm double-pointed needles or circular needles for magic loop.
- Smaller needles: US 2 / 2.75 mm for firm straps, flowers, mushroom spots, and tiny accessories.
- Stuffing: polyester fiberfill.
- Other tools: tapestry needle, stitch markers, row counter, pins, small buttons, scissors, and removable stitch holders.
Gauge
Work the main pieces tightly so the stuffing does not show. For the cat, clothing, and accessories, aim for 7 stitches and 10 rounds per 1 inch / 2.5 cm in stockinette stitch using US 3 / 3.25 mm needles. If your stitches are loose, go down one needle size.
The image shows a compact knitted texture with visible V-shaped stitches. The head, limbs, overalls, hat, and accessories should all be firm rather than floppy. Stuff gradually as you knit so the shape stays rounded and smooth.

Construction Notes
This pattern is worked in several shaped knitted pieces and then assembled carefully. The head and body are knitted in the round for a smooth stuffed toy finish. The clothing is partly knitted directly onto the body and partly sewn on, which helps recreate the layered garden outfit in the image.
The Scottish Fold face is the most important feature. Keep the head wide and rounded, place the folded ears low and slightly forward, and embroider the golden eyes large and glossy. The expression should be gentle and slightly serious, with a small pink nose and delicate black mouth lines.
Main Head
Use medium gray yarn and US 3 / 3.25 mm needles. Work in the round. Add charcoal and silver gray tabby lines later with duplicate stitch and embroidery so the face stays clean and shaped.

Tabby Markings on the Head
The gray tabby markings in the image are bold and vertical on the forehead, with darker side cheek lines. Use charcoal gray and light silver gray yarn. Work the markings after the head is fully stuffed so the duplicate stitches sit on the surface.
- Center forehead stripe: embroider one charcoal vertical line from rnd 9 down to rnd 24, centered above the nose area. Use duplicate stitch across 2 sts wide.
- Left forehead stripe: embroider one charcoal line starting 5 sts left of center, from rnd 11 down to rnd 25.
- Right forehead stripe: embroider one matching charcoal line 5 sts right of center.
- Outer forehead stripes: add two shorter dark lines on each side, each 5 to 7 duplicate stitches long.
- Silver highlights: add light silver stitches beside the darker stripes, especially along the top of the head.
- Cheek stripes: on each cheek, embroider 3 charcoal lines angled outward from the eye area toward the side of the face.
- Chin shading: add 5 short light gray stitches beneath the muzzle to soften the lower face.
Folded Scottish Fold Ears
The ears are small, rounded, and folded downward. They should not stand upright. Make two ears using medium gray yarn with charcoal shading along the lower edge.

Face Details
The eyes are large, golden, and slightly sad. They sit low on the face, giving the toy a gentle garden-cat expression. Use embroidery rather than plastic eyes if the toy is for a child.
- Eye placement: place eyes between rnds 25 and 32, about 9 sts apart.
- Eye shape: embroider each eye as a tall oval, about 8 rows high and 5 sts wide.
- Golden base: fill the oval with golden yellow satin stitches.
- Black pupil: add a vertical black oval in the center, 6 rows high and 2 sts wide.
- White highlight: add one white stitch at the upper outer side of each eye.
- Dark outline: outline each eye with black backstitch.
- Upper eyelid: add a charcoal line over the top curve of each eye.
For the nose, use pink yarn. Work a small triangle between rnds 33 and 35, centered between the eyes. The nose should be about 4 sts wide at the top and 3 rows tall. Add one short vertical black line downward from the nose, then split it into two tiny curved mouth lines.
Add 3 whisker lines on each side using black embroidery thread. Each whisker should angle slightly downward and outward. Keep them thin so they do not overpower the soft knitted tabby texture.
Body
The body is seated and mostly covered by green overalls. Knit the main torso in gray first, then the clothing is added. Use medium gray yarn.

- Check the balance of the seated cat and adjust stuffing through seams if needed.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
After the toy is fully assembled, spend extra time refining the face. The eyes should be the visual center of the design. Add another thin black outline if the golden color looks too soft. Add one small white highlight to each eye to create the glossy look seen in the image.
Use charcoal yarn to deepen the forehead stripes and cheek stripes. Keep the stripes irregular but balanced. The cat should look like a gray Scottish Fold tabby, not a plain gray kitten.
Check the mushroom topper from the front and side. It should sit upright with the green leafy base touching the head. If it leans, add two hidden stitches from the stem to the head surface.
Care Notes
- Spot clean with cool water and a soft cloth.
- Do not machine wash if the toy has buttons, embroidery, or small accessories.
- Let the toy air dry flat on a towel.
- Reshape the hat brim, ears, and mushroom topper while damp if needed.
- Keep the basket, watering can, and hat separate during storage to prevent bending.

Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
To preserve the knitted texture, avoid soaking the finished cat. Use a damp cloth to clean small marks, then blot with a dry towel. Do not rub the embroidered eyes or tabby markings, because repeated friction can loosen the surface stitches.
Store the cat upright or lying on its back in a dry place. Place tissue paper inside the garden hat crown if storing it for a long time. Keep the mushroom topper away from heavy objects so the stem remains straight.
If the overalls or bag become flattened, gently lift the knitted stitches with your fingers. A light steam from a distance can help restore shape, but never press directly with an iron. Let every piece cool and dry fully before display.
