Skill Level
Advanced beginner to intermediate. The main shapes use simple amigurumi rounds, but the project has many small decorative pieces. Work slowly, count carefully, and pin every part in place before sewing.

Gauge and Construction Notes
Gauge is not strict, but stitches should be firm enough so stuffing does not show. For amigurumi parts, use a smaller hook than your yarn label suggests. The cottage and foxes should stand firmly on the base.
Most pieces are worked in continuous spiral rounds. Use a stitch marker in the first stitch of each round. When a piece needs a neat flat edge, the pattern will say to join with a sl st.
The whole display is built from the bottom upward. First make the large round mint base and cream border. Then crochet the cottage, roof, foxes, tree, table, path, fence, blanket, menu board, flowers, cherries, mushrooms, and small bakery pieces.
Large Round Orchard Base
Use mint green yarn and the 3.5 mm hook. Work firmly but keep the circle flat. Join each round with a sl st and ch 1 at the beginning of the next round. The ch 1 does not count as a stitch.

Cottage Wall Texture
To imitate the tiny crochet wall texture in the image, use pale yellow yarn and surface sl st vertical lines. Make 8 evenly spaced vertical lines from R10 to R25. Keep them subtle so the wall stays soft and rounded.
Arched Cottage Door
Use dark brown yarn. The door is a tall rounded arch placed at the front center of the cottage.
- R1: ch 9. Starting in second ch from hook, sc 8. Turn. 8 sts.

- sl st into final ch. FO.
Sew the spoon to the left fox’s paw so it points toward the table.
Placement Guide
Before sewing everything permanently, place all finished pieces on the base. The cottage should sit slightly behind the center, not exactly in the middle, so there is room for the path and picnic details in front.
- Place the cottage at the back center of the mint base.
- Place the stepping stone path from the door toward the front center.
- Place the left fox on the left side of the path, facing the pie table.
- Place the table in front of the left fox.
- Place the right fox on the right side of the path, holding the cherry bowl.
- Place the tree on the right side behind the picnic blanket.
- Place the picnic blanket at the right front side.
- Place the fence along the left front edge.
- Place the menu sign near the right front of the path.
- Scatter mushrooms, daisies, and grass tufts around open spaces.
Assembly Order
- Sew the cottage body to the base first. Use pale yellow yarn and stitch through the bottom edge of the cottage into the mint base. Keep it upright and centered.
- Sew the roof securely to the cottage body if you have not already done so. Add extra stitches under the scalloped roof edge so it does not lift.
- Sew the door, sign, and windows onto the cottage. Make sure the door lines up with the stepping stone path.
- Sew all roof lattice strips down. Then sew the cherry clusters and leaves on top.
- Sew the stepping stones in a curved path. Place the largest stones near the front and the smaller ones near the door.
- Sew the tree trunk to the base. Sew the canopy to the trunk. Add blossoms and hanging cherries after the canopy is attached.
- Sew the picnic blanket to the base. Add the basket, cherries, and a tiny spoon or napkin if desired.
- Sew the pie table to the base. Add pies, cookies, and jam jar to the table top.
- Sew the foxes into place. Use several hidden stitches through the legs, tail, and lower body so they stay seated.
- Sew the fence to the front left curve. Add cherry vine details last.
- Sew the menu sign, mushrooms, daisies, and grass tufts into the remaining spaces.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
Check both fox faces before the final stitch. The eyes should sit evenly, the muzzle should be centered, and the ears should tilt outward. Use black yarn to add a tiny nose and a short smile. Add one small white stitch near each eye if you want a bright highlight.
For the cottage, make sure the sign is readable and centered above the door. The roof should look full and rounded like a pie crust. Add extra cherries or leaves if any area looks empty.
Shape the tree canopy with your hands after sewing. Pull the hanging cherries slightly downward so they look like they are dangling from branches. Keep the blossoms scattered, not lined up.
Care Notes
This project is best used as a decorative display, not as a toy for babies or pets. Many pieces are small and firmly sewn, but tiny cherries, flowers, and signs can still loosen with rough handling.
Keep the cottage away from strong sunlight for long periods because red and pink yarns may fade. If the display is placed on a shelf, turn it occasionally so one side does not collect all the light.
Quick Checklist Before You Finish
- The base lies flat and the cream scalloped border is even.
- The cottage stands upright and the door faces the stone path.
- The roof has a visible golden lattice pattern.
- Cherries and green leaves are sewn on the roof, tree, fence, and basket.
- The left fox has a chef hat and spoon.
- The right fox holds a bowl filled with cherries.
- The table includes pies, cookies, and a jam jar.
- The picnic blanket has a red-and-white checkered effect.
- The menu sign, mushrooms, daisies, and grass tufts are added.
Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
Spot clean only. Use a soft damp cloth with cool water and gently dab the stained area. Do not soak the whole display because the cardboard or plastic canvas supports may shift inside the cottage, table, or sign.
Let the piece air dry completely on a towel. Reshape the roof, fox tails, tree canopy, and scalloped border while damp. Do not use a dryer, iron, or high heat.
For storage, place tissue paper around the foxes, roof cherries, tree blossoms, and fence. Store the full scene in a box that is wide enough so the scalloped base does not bend. Add a small silica packet if your climate is humid.
To refresh the display, gently remove dust with a clean makeup brush or soft paintbrush. Brush around the cherries, blossoms, and lattice roof carefully so tiny sewn pieces stay secure.
