This cheerful knit doll features a round orange tabby head, oversized white oval eyes, a pink nose, soft yellow cheek pads, black tiger stripes, and rounded ears. The seated body wears a cream garden picnic outfit with orange trim, ruffles, striped socks, a fruit-slice crossbody bag, flowers, leaves, a straw-style hat, a tiny drink, and a tart with orange topping.
Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.
Finished Size
The finished doll is designed to sit about 10.5 to 11.5 inches tall when made with DK yarn and tight amigurumi-style knitting. The head is intentionally oversized, rounded, and wider than the body to match the pictured character style.
- Head width: about 5.5 inches across when stuffed firmly.
- Body height: about 4.25 inches from seat to neck.
- Leg length: about 4 inches from hip to foot tip.
- Hat width: about 5.75 inches across the brim.
- Crossbody bag: about 2 inches wide.
- Tart: about 2.75 inches wide.
- Drink cup: about 1.75 inches tall.
Yarn, Needles, and Supplies
Use smooth DK or light worsted yarn so the stitches show clearly. The sample look depends on a tight gauge, firm stuffing, and visible knit texture. Cotton or cotton-blend yarn gives the neat handmade garden-picnic finish shown in the image.
- Main orange: 90 g for head, ears, arms, legs, tail, bag, and fruit pieces.
- Black: 20 g for stripes, ear markings, pupils, foot soles, and tail tip.
- White: 25 g for large eyes and daisy petals.
- Pale yellow cream: 50 g for cheeks, outfit, hat, socks, and cup top.
- Soft yellow: 10 g for daisy centers and orange-slice highlights.
- Pink: 5 g for the oval nose and cheek blush embroidery.
- Leaf green: 10 g for leaves and tiny vine details.
- Tan: 20 g for tart shell and basket edge.
- Light blue: 3 g for the thin rim on the orange-slice bag.
- Needles: US 2 or 2.75 mm double-pointed needles, or a long circular needle for magic loop.
- Optional smaller needles: US 1 or 2.25 mm for firm appliqués.
- Stuffing: polyester fiberfill.
- Tools: tapestry needle, stitch markers, pins, scissors, row counter, removable markers.
- Optional shaping: a small amount of plastic pellets inside a fabric pouch for the seated base.
Gauge
Gauge: 28 stitches and 38 rounds equal 4 inches in stockinette stitch after light blocking. Exact gauge is less important than a firm fabric. If stuffing shows between stitches, use smaller needles.
This pattern uses tight knitting because the doll is stuffed. A firm gauge keeps the head round, the body stable, and the accessories crisp. Do not knit loosely unless you also change to thicker yarn and firmer stuffing.

Important Construction Notes
The doll is knitted in separate pieces, stuffed, and sewn together. The head, body, arms, legs, tail, eyes, cheeks, bag, hat, cup, and tart are all shaped separately. This gives the rounded, sculpted look visible in the picture.
The head is larger than the body. The eyes sit high on the face and touch closely near the center. The yellow cheek pads sit under the eyes, meeting at the pink nose. The black stripes are added after stuffing, so their placement can be controlled.
Use firm stuffing in small pieces. Add stuffing gradually, shaping the head into a wide rounded oval. Overstuff the cheeks only lightly because the yellow cheek pads already create the full smiling face.
Main Head
Work the head in the round using main orange. This piece forms the large round cat head. Keep the first half smooth and round, then shape the lower face slightly flatter so the doll can look forward while seated.

Black Head Stripes
The head stripes are added after the head is stuffed. This gives the clean black markings seen on the sides and top. Use black yarn and duplicate stitch or short satin stitches following the knit columns.
- Top forehead marks: Make 5 short black strokes between the ears, each 4 to 7 stitches long, pointing downward.
- Left side stripes: Add 3 thick horizontal black bands on the left side of the head. Each band should be 10 to 14 stitches long and 3 rows tall.
- Right side stripes: Repeat 3 bands on the right side, angled slightly downward toward the cheek.
- Lower cheek stripes: Add 2 short black dashes on each side near the yellow cheek area, each 5 stitches long.
- Back stripe: Add one curved black dash at the back center, about 12 stitches long.
Large White Oval Eyes
The eyes are knitted separately as tall oval appliqués. They are large, bright, and placed close together. The inner edges almost touch, giving the doll the wide-eyed expression shown in the image.

- Add 3 tiny black whisker dots or short dashes on each yellow side patch.
- Use pink yarn to add 2 small blush stitches on the outer lower edge of each cheek.
- Check that both eyes are level before sewing fully around the edges.
- Hide all knots behind appliqués or inside the head seams.
Assembly Order
Assembly is easiest when the head and body are completely stuffed first. Pin every piece before sewing. This prevents the head from tilting too far forward and keeps the seated doll balanced.
- Sew the large white eyes to the front of the head.
- Sew the black pupils onto the eyes.
- Sew the yellow cheek pads beneath the eyes, overlapping slightly at the center.
- Sew the pink nose over the cheek join.
- Add side cheek patches and whisker details.
- Sew the ears to the top of the head.
- Add black head stripes with duplicate stitch or embroidery.
- Sew the head to the body using a strong circular seam around the neck opening.
- Sew the arms to the sides of the body, just below the shoulder line.
- Sew the legs to the lower front of the body in a seated position.
- Sew the tail to the back-left lower body.
- Add the bib, straps, ruffle, buttons, and sleeve wraps.
- Place the crossbody bag diagonally across the chest and sew the strap discreetly at the shoulder and hip.
- Sew daisies, leaves, and orange slices onto the hat, bag, socks, tart, cup, and outfit.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
After all pieces are attached, gently roll the head between your hands to smooth the stuffing. Adjust the cheeks so they curve upward toward the nose. Tug the ears slightly forward so they stand upright and visible from the front.
Use small hidden stitches to secure any loose edges around the eyes, cheeks, bag, and ruffle. The final look should be round, soft, colorful, and clearly picnic-themed with orange fruit decorations throughout.
- Face check: eyes close together, pupils low, nose centered.
- Head check: round sides, black stripes balanced, ears upright.
- Body check: seated posture, legs forward, tail visible at one side.
- Accessory check: hat, drink, tart, bag, flowers, leaves, and orange slices included.
Care Notes
Spot clean the doll with cool water and mild soap. Do not soak heavily, because the stuffing may shift and the embroidered decorations may loosen. Press with a towel and reshape by hand.
Let the doll air dry flat in a shaded area. Avoid direct heat, tumble drying, or strong sunlight. If the brim of the hat curls too much, pin it flat while damp and allow it to dry naturally.
Quick Checklist Before You Finish
- The head is larger than the body and firmly stuffed.
- The eyes are tall white ovals with small black oval pupils.
- The yellow cheek pads meet under the pink nose.
- Black stripes appear on both sides, the forehead, ears, and tail.
- The cream outfit has orange trim, straps, ruffle, and tiny buttons.
- The crossbody bag looks like an orange slice.
- The hat includes an orange band, daisy, leaves, and orange slices.
- The drink cup and tart are finished as separate picnic accessories.
- All flowers and leaves are sewn securely.
Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
Store the doll upright or seated so the head does not press against hard surfaces. Keep the hat flat beside it or lightly placed on top. Avoid packing the tart and cup tightly against the face.
For long-term display, keep the doll away from damp rooms and dusty windows. Use a soft brush to remove surface dust from the knit stitches. Refresh the shape by gently pressing the head, cheeks, feet, and ruffle back into place.
If a flower, leaf, or fruit slice becomes loose, do not pull it off. Thread the loose yarn tail onto a tapestry needle and stitch it back through the nearest knitted fabric. Knot invisibly on the underside or behind the decoration.
