Create a cozy crochet camping meadow with a round green grass base, gray pebble border, glowing firefly lanterns, an open A-frame tent, tiny pillows, a striped blanket, a curved campsite tree with bunting, a “Firefly Camp” sign, mushrooms, shrubs, mugs, a map, a campfire ring, and four sweet woodland camper dolls gathered around the fire.
Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.
Skill Level
Advanced beginner to intermediate. The main shapes use simple amigurumi stitches, but the full scene includes many small pieces, careful assembly, and firm shaping. Read each section before starting so the scale stays balanced.
Finished Size
- Meadow base: about 17 in / 43 cm across with worsted weight yarn.
- Tent: about 8.5 in / 21.5 cm tall and 8 in / 20 cm wide at the front.
- Tree: about 10 in / 25 cm tall after bending.
- Large camper dolls: about 4 in / 10 cm tall.
- Small camper dolls: about 3 in / 7.5 cm tall.
- Fire ring: about 4.5 in / 11.5 cm wide.
Materials
- Worsted weight yarn in dark forest green, sage green, cream, beige, tan, warm brown, dark brown, gray, light gray, mustard yellow, rust orange, blue-gray, mint green, red, white, black, golden yellow, orange, and small scraps for bunting.
- 3.0 mm crochet hook for amigurumi pieces.
- 3.5 mm crochet hook for the large meadow base and tent panels.
- Polyester fiberfill.
- Yarn needle.

- Optional battery LED tea lights for placing inside the lantern covers only.
- Black safety eyes, 6 mm for large campers and 5 mm for small campers, or embroidered eyes.
- Pink embroidery thread or yarn scrap for cheeks and noses.
Abbreviations
- ch: chain
- sl st: slip stitch

- dec: invisible single crochet decrease
- BLO: back loop only
- FLO: front loop only
- MR: magic ring
- st: stitch
- sts: stitches
- FO: fasten off
- R: round or row
Gauge and Tension
For amigurumi, work tightly enough that stuffing does not show. With a 3.0 mm hook, 6 sc across should measure about 1 in / 2.5 cm. For the base and tent panels, a slightly softer tension is fine, but keep the stitches even so the meadow lays flat and the tent panels hold their shape.
Important Construction Notes
- Most pieces are crocheted in continuous rounds unless a row instruction is given.
- Use a stitch marker at the first stitch of every round.
- Stuff heads and bodies firmly, but do not overstuff ears, arms, flags, pillows, or flat decorations.
- The campsite is built from the bottom upward: base first, then tent, fire ring, tree, campers, and small decorations.
- For a display piece, sew every item securely to the meadow base. For a play set, leave cups, map, pillows, and lanterns removable.
Round Meadow Base
The meadow is a wide, flat, dark green circle with visible spiral rows. The border is made of many light gray crochet pebbles attached around the edge. Work the base with the 3.5 mm hook.

Subtle Grass Ridges
To make the base look like the raised spiral rows in the image, surface crochet a loose spiral over the finished circle. Join dark green yarn near the center. Sl st around between rounds, following the natural spiral line. Keep the slip stitches relaxed so the base does not curl.
Gray Pebble Border
Make 36 large pebbles and 10 small pebbles in light gray and medium gray. Alternate shades around the edge. Each pebble is a small stuffed oval sewn with the long side facing the center.
Large Pebble
- R1: With light gray, MR, 6 sc. 6 sts.

Sew the handle in an arch over the kettle body. Place the kettle between the yellow camper and the blue camper near the fire.
Optional Firefly Jar Look for Lantern Glow
To make the lanterns look brighter, stitch a second loose layer in pale yellow. Work 18 sc around the middle of the lantern, then sl st around the same stitches with cream. This creates a soft glowing rim without changing the lantern size.
Layout Guide
The placement is what makes this project match the image. The tent should sit at the back center, the fire ring should sit in front of the tent, and the campers should form a half circle around the fire.
- Sew the tent floor to the back center of the meadow.
- Attach the A-frame tent panels over the tent floor, leaving the front open.
- Place the striped blanket and pillows inside the tent.
- Sew the campfire ring in the middle front area.
- Attach the tree on the right side, leaning over the tent.
- Sew the sign to the tree and hang the bunting beneath the curved trunk.
- Place the larger blue-gray camper behind the fire on the left side.
- Place the larger yellow camper behind the fire on the right side.
- Place the small rust camper at the front left of the fire.
- Place the small mint camper at the front right of the fire.
- Add lanterns around the tent, tree, and front meadow.
- Add shrubs, mushrooms, cups, basket, map, cookies, fireflies, and backpack.
- Sew the pebble border last if you want to hide any base sewing tails near the edge.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
Sew all major pieces with matching yarn and small hidden stitches. The tent must be firm enough to stand, so add cardboard or plastic canvas inside the two main panels if your crochet fabric is soft. Keep the front flaps open and angled outward.
For each camper face, place the eyes evenly and keep the muzzle centered. Embroider a tiny pink or brown nose, a short mouth line, and small blush stitches on both cheeks. Do not overwork the face; simple details match the soft style in the image.
Attach the campers after the fire ring is finished. Angle their bodies toward the flames. This small adjustment makes the whole scene feel like a warm campsite gathering.
Care Notes
- Spot clean only with a damp cloth and mild soap.
- Do not machine wash if cardboard, wire, plastic canvas, or battery lights are used.
- Remove all battery lights before cleaning.
- Let the piece air dry completely before storing.
Quick Checklist Before You Finish
- Round green meadow lies flat.
- Gray pebbles form a complete raised border.
- Tent stands in an A-frame shape with open front flaps.
- Blanket and pillows are visible inside the tent.
- Tree curves over the right side with bunting attached.
- Fire ring, logs, flames, and roasting sticks are centered.
- Four campers are facing the fire.
- Lanterns, fireflies, mushrooms, shrubs, map, cups, basket, backpack, and sign are added.
Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
Keep the finished campsite away from direct sunlight for long periods, especially if it is displayed near a window. Strong light may fade the green meadow, yellow lanterns, and warm brown tree over time.
Store the piece in a breathable box or fabric bag. Avoid crushing the tent and tree. If the tent flattens, gently reshape the A-frame with your fingers and allow the stitches to settle back into position.
For dust, use a soft brush and work slowly around the fire ring, pebbles, and tiny accessories. Small parts can catch on rough cloth, so avoid scrubbing. If any piece loosens, sew it back with matching yarn and secure the tail inside the base.
