Deer Christmas Cookie Workshop Case – Crochet

Deer Christmas Cookie Workshop Case – Crochet

This crochet pattern recreates a cozy Christmas cookie workshop inside a green travel case. The scene includes a cream-lined suitcase room, a deer baker wearing a red dress and green apron, a snowy window, wreath, wall pocket, oven, cookie counter, snowman, mini tree, candy cane, gifts, chair, stocking, lights, and tiny baking tools.

Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

Skill Level

Intermediate. The stitches are beginner friendly, but the project uses many small pieces, firm shaping, surface details, and careful sewing. Work slowly and pin every part before stitching so the finished workshop keeps the same balanced look as the photo.

Finished Size

  • Open case: about 9 in wide, 7 in tall, and 4 in deep.
  • Deer doll: about 4.75 in tall from feet to antler tips.
  • Counter unit: about 4.75 in wide and 1.6 in tall.
  • Chair: about 2.25 in tall.
  • Wall pocket: about 4.25 in wide.

Materials

  • Sport or DK weight cotton yarn in forest green, cream, red, tan, caramel brown, dark brown, white, light blue, gray, black, yellow, gold, and small amounts of pink or blush.
  • 2.25 mm crochet hook for small pieces.
  • 2.75 mm crochet hook for suitcase panels and larger pieces.
  • Polyester fiberfill.
  • Plastic canvas or firm cardboard for the case walls, floor, counter, and chair.
  • 6 mm black safety eyes for the deer.
  • 4 mm black beads or embroidery knots for tiny decorations.
  • Gold embroidery floss for bows and gift ribbons.
  • Brown, black, white, and red embroidery thread.
  • Yarn needle, sewing needle, pins, stitch markers, scissors.
  • Optional warm white battery fairy lights, miniature metal clasp, and miniature handle.

Abbreviations

  • ch: chain
  • sl st: slip stitch
  • sc: single crochet
  • hdc: half double crochet
  • dc: double crochet
  • inc: 2 sc in the same stitch
  • dec: invisible single crochet decrease
  • BLO: back loop only
  • FLO: front loop only
  • MR: magic ring
  • st or sts: stitch or stitches
  • FO: fasten off

Gauge and Working Notes

With the 2.75 mm hook, 20 sc and 22 rows should measure about 4 in. With the 2.25 mm hook, stitches should be tight enough that stuffing does not show. Exact gauge is less important than making all pieces firm and proportional.

Most amigurumi pieces are worked in continuous rounds. Do not join unless the instruction says to join. Use a stitch marker for the first stitch of every round.

For the case, crochet flat panels around plastic canvas inserts. The stitches should sit snugly around the inserts so the room stands open without collapsing.

Color Placement Guide

  • Case exterior: forest green with a red stripe near the bottom.
  • Case interior: warm cream with forest green edging.
  • Deer: caramel brown head and body, dark brown hooves and antlers, white muzzle, red dress, green apron, white collar.
  • Workshop furniture: tan cookie counter, cream trims, gray oven, brown window frame.
  • Decorations: red and green gifts, white snowman, red stocking, green wreath, warm yellow lights.

Care Notes

  • This project is best used as decor, not as a toy for children under 3 years.
  • If using lights, remove batteries before storage.
  • Spot clean only with a damp cloth.
  • Do not soak the case because the plastic canvas or cardboard insert may bend.

Quick Checklist Before You Finish

  • The case opens upright and the back wall is firmly stitched.
  • The green exterior, cream interior, and red lower stripe are visible.
  • The deer has antlers, ears, muzzle, white spots, red dress, green apron, and white collar.
  • The wall includes the wreath, window, pocket, mitt, towel, stocking, tools, and lights.
  • The floor includes the counter, stove, rug, chair, gifts, snowman, tree, tray, dough, and candy cane.

Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines

Store the workshop case open or lightly closed in a dry place. Do not press heavy items on top of it. To remove dust, use a soft makeup brush or clean paintbrush and gently sweep between the small decorations.

If a small part loosens, reattach it with matching yarn and a yarn needle. Avoid hot glue near lights or plastic inserts. Wrap the finished piece in tissue paper when storing it after the Christmas season.
