This Lantern Dock Otter Fishing Camp crochet scene features a round grassy-and-water base, a wooden dock, three sweet otter campers, a rust-orange A-frame tent, glowing lantern garland, fishing rods, tiny fish, reeds, rocks, a camp sign, cooler, rolled sleeping bag, basket, campfire, mugs, kettle, and many small outdoor details. The finished display is a cozy miniature fishing campsite made almost entirely with simple amigurumi stitches.
Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.
Skill Level
Confident beginner to intermediate. The project uses basic amigurumi shaping, flat crochet panels, simple embroidery, small sewn details, and careful assembly. The many accessories are small, so work slowly and use stitch markers often.

- Small otters: about 2.25 in / 5.75 cm tall.
- A-frame tent: about 4.5 in / 11.5 cm wide and 4 in / 10 cm tall.

Gauge and Texture Notes
The image shows a dense, neat crochet texture with visible ridges on the round base and firm amigurumi shaping. Use a hook small enough that stuffing does not show through. For the base, slightly relaxed tension helps the circle stay flat.
The grass and water sections are made as one round base with color changes. The outer raised green rim gives the whole camp a soft tray-like edge. Small rocks, reeds, cattails, and flowers are sewn around the rim to match the miniature campsite look.
Important Pattern Notes
- Work amigurumi pieces in continuous rounds unless a section says to join.
- Use a stitch marker in the first stitch of each round.
- Stuff otter heads, bodies, tails, and limbs firmly but do not overstuff tiny accessories.
- For a display piece, sew every item securely to the base after arranging all pieces first.
- The dock, tent panels, and sign look best with a thin insert of cardboard or plastic canvas.
Round Lake and Grass Base
The base is a flat round mat with a blue lake section in front and green grass behind it. The easiest way to match the image is to crochet a full circle in color blocks, changing to blue for about one-third of each round.

Wooden Dock
The dock sits over the blue water and reaches from the grass into the lake. It has brown plank texture, four round posts, rope wraps, and a small center area where the main otter stands holding a fishing rod.

- Sew sign, rocks, reeds, cattails, flowers, mushrooms, boat, snail, and extra fish last.
Final Assembly and Facial Detailing
Check each otter’s face before final sewing. The otters should look gentle and curious, with small black eyes, rounded tan muzzles, dark oval noses, and tiny smiles. Keep the center otter slightly taller and more upright than the two seated otters.
Use pins to test the full scene from every angle. The dock should visually lead into the tent area, while the sign, rocks, reeds, and boat frame the outside edge. Sew small items with matching yarn so the stitches disappear into the base.
Care Notes
- Spot clean only with cool water and mild soap.
- Do not machine wash because the tent, dock, sign, and base may contain inserts.
- Let the project air dry completely before storing.
- Keep away from pets and very young children if small sewn pieces are attached.
Quick Checklist Before You Finish
- Round base has green grass, blue lake, and raised green outer rim.
- Dock has plank lines, six posts, rope wraps, fishing line, bobber, and fish.
- Tent is rust orange, A-frame shaped, open in front, with cream sleeping roll inside.
- There are three otters: one standing on the dock and two seated on the grass.
- Lantern garland, sign, campfire, cooler, sleeping roll, basket, backpack, kettle, mugs, rocks, reeds, flowers, mushrooms, boat, and snail are attached.
Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
For long-term display, keep the crochet camp away from direct sunlight so the green base, orange tent, and blue lake do not fade. Dust gently with a soft brush, working around the lanterns, reeds, and fishing line carefully.
If the base bends over time, place it on a flat shelf and lightly reshape the outer rim by hand. Avoid heavy objects on top of the tent or dock. Store the scene in a shallow box with tissue paper around the small accessories.
