Skill Level
This pattern is written for confident beginners to intermediate crocheters. Most pieces use single crochet in continuous rounds, simple shaping, small appliques, and careful sewing. The finished look depends on firm stuffing, even tension, and placing each tiny garden detail in the same position as the photo.
- Main techniques: magic ring, single crochet, increases, invisible decreases, working in rows, working in back loops, surface stitching, sewing, light embroidery, and shaping with pipe cleaners or craft wire.
- Finished size: about 11 in tall, 10 in wide, and 8 in deep when using DK yarn and a 2.5 mm hook.
- Recommended hook: 2.5 mm for main pieces, 2.0 mm for tiny flowers, leaves, seed packets, and facial details.
Materials
- DK cotton yarn in pastel sky blue, grass green, dark green, light green, brown, dark brown, white, cream, beige, tan, gray, yellow, orange, pink, dusty rose, red rose, lavender, soft blue, and rainbow colors.
- 2.5 mm crochet hook and 2.0 mm crochet hook.
- Fiberfill stuffing.
- Cardboard or plastic canvas for the grass base and boot sole.
- Thin craft wire or pipe cleaners for the arch, tall sprouts, vines, flowers, mushrooms, and raindrops.
- 6 mm black safety eyes for frog, bunny, and duck.
- 4 mm black safety eyes or black embroidery thread for tiny faces.
- Tapestry needle, stitch markers, pins, scissors, and fabric glue if desired.
Abbreviations
- MR: magic ring
- ch: chain
- sl st: slip stitch
- sc: single crochet

- dc: double crochet
- inc: 2 sc in the same stitch
- dec: invisible single crochet decrease

- FLO: front loop only
- st: stitch
- R: round or row
- FO: fasten off
Gauge and Construction Notes
For this project, exact gauge is less important than firm fabric. Your stitches should be tight enough that stuffing and inner supports do not show. If your rainboot looks floppy, switch to a smaller hook or add plastic canvas inside the walls before closing the lower boot.
- Work most amigurumi pieces in continuous spirals unless a join is specified.
- Use the same yarn weight for every piece so the scale remains balanced.
- Stuff the rainboot firmly at the toe and ankle, lightly at the tall shaft.
- The boot house should lean very slightly backward, while the arched handle curves forward on the right side.
- Pin every accessory before sewing so the full scene matches the photo.
Grass Garden Base
The base is a rounded rectangle of textured green crochet. It supports the rainboot, garden beds, pond, pots, characters, mushrooms, and path. Add a plastic canvas insert between two crocheted panels so the scene stays flat on a table.

- Sew the rainbow behind the boot rim, with clouds resting near the top and right arch.
- Add the trailing vine to the left rim and the rose vine to the right arch.
- Sew the door, window, boot cloud, doorstep, and tiny blue boots in place.
- Arrange seed trays, pots, soil bag, shovel, watering cans, stones, tent, mushrooms, fence, pond, duck, bunny, frog, caterpillar, flowers, and seed packets before sewing.
- Use black embroidery thread to add tiny smiles to the frog and bunny if desired.
- Trim any visible sewing tails and gently shape the boot, arch, vines, and tall sprouts with your fingers.
Care Notes
- Keep the finished fairy house away from heavy moisture because the cardboard or plastic canvas insert may bend if soaked.
- Spot clean only with a slightly damp cloth.
- Do not machine wash because the small flowers, wires, raindrops, and seed packets may shift.
- Let the piece air dry fully before displaying again.
Quick Checklist Before You Finish
- The boot stands upright and the toe is rounded and firm.
- The top soil insert is full of sprouts and white flowers.
- The arch is secure and holds the hanging raindrops straight.
- The rainbow sits behind the boot with white clouds at both ends.
- The right arch has roses and leaves climbing upward.
- The front garden includes pots, seed trays, seed packets, pond, duck, frog, bunny, stones, soil bag, shovel, mushrooms, fence, and caterpillar leaf.
Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines
- Dust the project with a soft makeup brush or clean paintbrush, working gently around flowers and vines.
- For small stains, dab with cool water and mild soap. Do not rub the stitches.
- Store the fairy house in a box with tissue around the arch and rainbow so they do not flatten.
- Avoid direct sunlight for long periods, especially on pink roses, rainbow bands, and pastel blue boot yarn.
- If a wire stem bends, reshape it slowly with your fingers instead of pulling on the crochet fabric.
