Knitting Tutorial: Corgi Daisy Meadow Sweater Doll – Free Knitting Pattern.

This cheerful knitted corgi doll sits upright with a cream-and-caramel face, tall pointed ears, glossy black safety eyes, a green meadow sweater, brown knitted pants, yellow strap shoes, a tiny crossbody bag, a white daisy hair flower, and a separate orange ribbed beanie resting beside the doll. The pattern below builds each visible detail so the finished piece matches the soft handmade look in the image.

Please note: I strive for accuracy in every pattern, but occasional errors can happen. Thank you for understanding and for enjoying my designs.

Pattern Overview

This pattern creates a seated corgi doll with a large rounded head, compact body, short arms, rounded legs, and carefully shaped accessories. The doll is worked mostly in the round for smooth stockinette texture, with small flat pieces added for the sweater hem, pockets, straps, daisy, bag flap, and beanie ribbing.

The finished doll measures about 10.5 inches tall when made with DK weight yarn and 2.75 mm needles. The head is intentionally larger than the body, giving the corgi the same cute handmade proportion shown in the image. Stuff firmly, but do not overfill the limbs, so the doll can sit naturally.

Materials

  • DK weight yarn in caramel brown for head patches, outer ears, tail color accents, and bag strap.
  • DK weight yarn in warm cream for muzzle, blaze, inner ears, paws, and feet.

Construction Notes

The doll is made from separate knitted parts and sewn together. The cream face area is created with an intarsia-style front panel sewn onto the head, which keeps the color placement clean and close to the image. The caramel patches frame the eyes, while the cream muzzle and center blaze create the corgi expression.

The sweater is knitted directly as a fitted garment over the body shape, then decorated with embroidery. The pants are made as two short trouser legs joined to a seated lower body. Shoes are separate cream feet with yellow edging and a strap across the top, matching the small yellow footwear in the photo.

Cream Face Blaze and Muzzle Panel

This piece sits on the front of the head. It forms the long cream stripe from the forehead down to the nose and expands into the rounded muzzle. Knit it flat in warm cream yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing.

  1. CO 8 sts.
  2. Rows 1-4: work in st st, beginning with a knit row. 8 sts.
  3. Row 5: k1, m1L, k6, m1R, k1. 10 sts.
  4. Rows 6-8: work even in st st. 10 sts.
  5. Row 9: k1, m1L, k8, m1R, k1. 12 sts.
  6. Rows 10-12: work even. 12 sts.
  7. Row 13: k1, m1L, k10, m1R, k1. 14 sts.
  8. Rows 14-17: work even. 14 sts.
  9. Row 18: p all sts.
  10. Row 19: k2, m1L, k10, m1R, k2. 16 sts.
  11. Row 20: p all sts.
  12. Row 21: k3, m1L, k10, m1R, k3. 18 sts.
  13. Rows 22-27: work even in st st. 18 sts.
  14. Row 28: p2, p2tog, p10, p2tog, p2. 16 sts.

  16. Row 30: p2, p2tog, p6, p2tog, p2. 12 sts.
  17. BO loosely.

Pin the narrow top of the cream panel at the center forehead, about 6 rounds below the crown. Let it run straight down between the eyes and widen over the lower face. Sew with small mattress stitches, keeping the lower rounded edge smooth.

Side Cheek Patches

The image shows caramel-brown patches around both eyes, with cream cheeks below. Because the head base is caramel, create two cream cheek inserts so the lower side face becomes lighter.

  1. With cream yarn, CO 10 sts for one cheek patch.
  2. Row 1: k all sts.
  3. Row 2: p all sts.
  4. Row 3: k1, m1L, k8, m1R, k1. 12 sts.
  5. Rows 4-8: work in st st. 12 sts.
  6. Row 9: k2, ssk, k4, k2tog, k2. 10 sts.
  7. Row 10: p all sts.
  8. Row 11: k2, ssk, k2, k2tog, k2. 8 sts.
  9. BO. Make a second patch the same way.

Sew one patch to each lower side of the muzzle, starting just below the safety eye line and curving toward the jaw. The caramel head should still show around the eyes and forehead, creating the classic corgi mask visible in the photo.

Eyes, Nose, and Mouth

  • Insert the safety eyes between head rounds 20 and 21, about 10 sts apart, before fully closing the head if possible.
  • Place the eyes just outside the cream blaze, inside the caramel patches.
  • Attach the black oval safety nose near the lower center of the cream muzzle, between rows 22 and 25 of the sewn face panel.
  • With black embroidery yarn, stitch one straight vertical line down from the nose for 4 rows.
  • Add a tiny split mouth by making one short diagonal stitch to the left and one short diagonal stitch to the right.

Pointed Outer Ears

The ears are tall triangles with caramel outer edges and cream inner centers. Make two outer ears in caramel brown. Knit flat, then fold slightly at the base during sewing so they stand upright like the image.

  1. With caramel yarn, CO 22 sts.
  2. Row 1: k all sts.
  3. Row 2: p all sts.
  4. Row 3: k all sts.
  5. Row 4: p all sts.
  6. Row 5: k1, ssk, k16, k2tog, k1. 20 sts.
  7. Row 6: p all sts.
  8. Row 7: k1, ssk, k14, k2tog, k1. 18 sts.
  9. Row 8: p all sts.
  10. Row 9: k1, ssk, k12, k2tog, k1. 16 sts.
  11. Row 10: p all sts.
  12. Continue decreasing every RS row in the same way until 4 sts remain.
  13. Next RS row: ssk, k2tog. 2 sts.
  14. Next row: p2tog. 1 st.
  15. Fasten off. Make a second outer ear.

Cream Inner Ears

  1. With cream yarn, CO 16 sts.
  2. Rows 1-4: work in st st. 16 sts.
  3. Row 5: k1, ssk, k10, k2tog, k1. 14 sts.
  4. Row 6: p all sts.
  5. Row 7: k1, ssk, k8, k2tog, k1. 12 sts.
  6. Row 8: p all sts.
  7. Continue decreasing every RS row until 4 sts remain.
  8. Next RS row: ssk, k2tog. 2 sts.
  9. Next row: p2tog. 1 st.
  10. Fasten off. Make a second inner ear.

Sew each cream inner ear onto a caramel outer ear, leaving a caramel border visible around the edges. Attach ears to the head between rounds 9 and 19, angled outward about 25 degrees. Sew the lower 6 sts of each ear securely to create the upright pointed shape.

Body Base Under Sweater

The body is short and rounded, designed to sit under the green sweater. Use cream yarn for the upper neck area because the sweater collar will cover most of it. The lower body connects to the brown pants.

  1. With cream yarn, CO 24 sts and join in the round.
  2. Rnd 1: k all sts. 24 sts.
  3. Rnd 2: repeat k3, kfb around. 30 sts.

  15. Stuff body firmly through the lower opening.
  16. Divide sts into two groups of 18 for the two pant legs.

Brown Pants and Legs

The pants are visible below the green sweater and have a soft ribbed waist, straight trouser legs, and small cuff texture near the feet. Work each leg from the divided body stitches.

First Pant Leg

  1. Place 18 sts for the first leg onto needles. Hold the other 18 sts on waste yarn.
  2. Join brown yarn at inner leg.
  3. Rnds 1-16: k all sts. 18 sts.
  4. Rnd 17: repeat k4, k2tog around. 15 sts.
  5. Rnds 18-21: repeat k1, p1 around for cuff. 15 sts.
  6. BO loosely in rib.

Second Pant Leg

  1. Return held 18 sts to needles.
  2. Join brown yarn at inner leg.
  3. Work the same as the first pant leg.
  4. Sew the crotch gap closed with brown yarn using firm mattress stitches.

Stuff each pant leg lightly. Keep them rounded but not stiff. The doll should sit with the legs pointing forward. Add extra filling at the hip area and less at the knees to copy the relaxed seated shape in the image.

Cream Feet

The cream foot section appears inside the yellow shoe frame. Make two oval feet. These are sewn to the bottom of the pant cuffs, angled slightly forward.

  1. With cream yarn, CO 8 sts and join in the round.
  2. Rnd 1: k all sts. 8 sts.
  3. Rnd 2: kfb in every st. 16 sts.
  4. Rnd 3: k all sts. 16 sts.
  5. Rnd 4: repeat k3, kfb around. 20 sts.

  7. Rnd 11: repeat k3, k2tog around. 16 sts.
  8. Rnd 12: k all sts. 16 sts.
  9. Stuff the foot lightly, flattening the top slightly.
  10. Rnd 13: k2tog around. 8 sts.
  11. Cut yarn, draw through remaining sts, and close. Make a second foot.

Yellow Shoes and Straps

The shoes are open across the top, with yellow edging around the cream foot and a yellow strap across the front. Small white side flowers sit near the outside edge of each shoe.

Shoe Edging

  1. With yellow yarn and 2.5 mm needles, CO 34 sts.
  2. Row 1: k all sts.
  3. Row 2: p all sts.
  4. Row 3: k all sts.
  5. BO, leaving a long tail.
  6. Wrap this strip around the front and sides of one cream foot, leaving the top center cream visible.
  7. Sew the strip in place with small stitches. Make one more strip for the second foot.

Shoe Strap

  1. With yellow yarn, CO 12 sts.
  2. Rows 1-3: k all sts.

  2. BO immediately, then coil the tiny strip into a small flower knot.
  3. Stitch one flower to the outer side of each shoe strap.
  4. Add one yellow stitch at the center of each flower.

Sweater Ribbed Hem

The sweater has a visible ribbed lower edge in sage green, sitting just over the brown pants. Add this detail after the body is stuffed and before embroidering the meadow design.

  1. With sage green yarn, pick up 42 sts around body round 24, just above the brown waistband.
  2. Rnd 1: repeat k1, p1 around.
  3. Rnd 2: repeat k1, p1 around.
  4. Rnd 3: repeat k1, p1 around.
  5. BO in rib, keeping the edge stretchy.

Sweater Sleeves

The sleeves are short, rounded, and slightly puffed. Each sleeve is green at the upper arm with a cream paw showing at the hand end. Make two matching arms.

Cream Paw

  1. With cream yarn, CO 8 sts and join in the round.
  2. Rnd 1: k all sts. 8 sts.
  3. Rnd 2: kfb in every st. 16 sts.
  4. Rnds 3-7: k all sts. 16 sts.
  5. Stuff lightly.
  6. Change to sage green.

Green Sleeve

  4. Stuff the sleeve softly.
  5. Rnd 24: k2tog around. 6 sts.
  6. Cut yarn, draw through remaining sts, and close.
  7. Make a second arm the same way.

Sew the arms to the sides of the sweater body between body rounds 8 and 16. Angle each arm slightly downward and outward, matching the relaxed pose in the photo. The cream paws should point forward and sit just below the sleeve cuffs.

Sweater Neckline

The neckline is a simple green collar that hides the head-to-body join. It should look soft and slightly gathered, like a tiny knitted sweater collar.

  1. With sage green yarn, pick up 28 sts around the top of the body.
  2. Rnd 1: repeat k1, p1 around.
  3. Rnd 2: repeat k1, p1 around.
  4. Rnd 3: k all sts.
  5. BO loosely.

Place the head onto the neck so the face points straight forward. Sew through the lower head and the top body several times. Keep the head large and upright, with the chin slightly above the sweater collar.

Meadow Embroidery on Sweater

The green sweater has small yellow flowers, olive leaves, and brown branch stems across the front. Work the embroidery after the arms are attached so the placement is balanced. Keep stitches small and raised, matching the handmade garden detail in the image.

  • Center flower: Make one yellow lazy-daisy flower with 5 petals at the upper center chest, about 4 rounds below the neckline.
  • Lower flowers: Make three yellow 5-petal flowers across the lower sweater, placing one at center and one on each side.
  • Side buds: Add two tiny yellow French-knot-style knots on each branch line.
  • Branches: Use dark brown yarn to stitch two slanted stems from the lower sides upward toward the center.
  • Leaves: Use olive yarn to add paired leaf stitches along the brown stems, with 3 leaves on each side.

To form each yellow flower, bring the needle up at the center, make a small loop, anchor the tip of the loop, and repeat for five petals. Add one small golden knot in the center. Do not pull too tightly; raised petals help copy the textured flowers shown on the sweater.

Crossbody Bag

The little brown bag sits at the doll’s right hip with a long diagonal strap running from the left shoulder to the right side. The bag has a flap and a tiny green leaf charm on the front.

Bag Body

  1. With medium brown yarn and 2.5 mm needles, CO 14 sts.

  5. Rows 21-28: work in st st for the front flap.
  6. Row 29: k1, ssk, k8, k2tog, k1. 12 sts.
  7. Row 30: p all sts.
  8. Row 31: k1, ssk, k6, k2tog, k1. 10 sts.
  9. BO.

Fold the lower rectangle upward to make a pouch about 1.5 inches tall. Sew both side seams. Fold the pointed flap down over the front. Add one tiny gold stitch near the flap edge as a button.

Bag Strap

  1. With caramel brown or medium brown yarn, CO 4 sts.
  2. Work an I-cord for 16 inches: k4, slide sts to the other end of the needle, pull yarn across the back, and k4 again.
  3. Repeat until the cord crosses from the left shoulder to the right hip comfortably.
  4. BO and sew each end to the upper corners of the bag.

Sew the petals around the yellow center, overlapping their bases. Attach the daisy to the top right side of the corgi’s head, near the inner base of one ear. Sew through the center several times so the flower stays upright.

Orange Ribbed Beanie

The orange hat is a separate accessory placed beside the doll in the image. It has a folded-looking ribbed brim, rounded crown, and a tiny brown stem at the top.

Beanie Stem

  1. With dark brown yarn, CO 4 sts.
  2. Work I-cord for 7 rows.
  3. BO and sew to the top center of the beanie.

Lightly stuff the beanie only if you want it displayed as a separate prop. For a softer folded look, leave it unstuffed and shape the brim outward with your fingers. Place it near the doll when styling the finished project.

Small Tail

The tail is mostly hidden from the front view, but a tiny rounded corgi tail helps complete the doll if viewed from the side or back.

  1. With caramel yarn, CO 8 sts and join in the round.
  2. Rnd 1: k all sts. 8 sts.
  3. Rnd 2: kfb in every st. 16 sts.

Final Assembly and Facial Detailing

  1. Sew the head to the body first, keeping the cream blaze centered above the sweater.
  2. Attach both ears firmly, with the inner cream panels facing forward and the tips leaning slightly outward.
  3. Sew the arms to the sweater sides, making sure the cream paws are visible below the green sleeves.
  4. Attach the feet to the pant cuffs, with the yellow shoes facing forward.
  5. Place the bag strap from the doll’s left shoulder across the chest to the right hip.
  6. Sew or tack the bag lightly to the right side so it does not swing too far.
  7. Add the daisy flower near one ear and secure it through the yellow center.
  8. Check the mouth line and adjust with one extra black stitch if the expression needs more definition.

After all pieces are attached, gently squeeze and roll the stuffed areas between your palms. This evens out the filling and gives the doll a soft, rounded, handmade finish. The cheeks should look full, the head should sit upright, and the legs should rest forward in a seated position.

Care Notes

  • Spot clean with cool water and a mild wool-safe soap.
  • Do not machine wash if safety eyes, safety nose, or embroidered flowers are attached.
  • Blot with a clean towel instead of wringing.
  • Reshape the ears, shoes, sweater hem, and beanie while damp.
  • Dry flat away from direct sunlight.

Quick Checklist Before You Finish

  • The cream blaze is centered from forehead to nose.
  • The eyes are even and placed inside the caramel face patches.
  • The tall ears have visible cream centers and caramel borders.
  • The green sweater has yellow flowers, brown stems, and olive leaves.
  • The pants are brown with a ribbed waist and cuffed lower edges.
  • The yellow shoes show cream centers and small white side flowers.
  • The crossbody bag sits at the right hip with a diagonal strap.
  • The white daisy is attached near one ear.
  • The orange ribbed beanie has a small brown stem and sits as a separate prop.

Detailed Cleaning and Preservation Guidelines

Keep the doll in a dry display area and avoid heavy handling of the embroidered sweater flowers. If dust collects, use a soft makeup brush or clean paintbrush to lift dust from the stitches. Brush in the direction of the knit texture so the surface remains smooth.

For long-term storage, wrap the doll loosely in acid-free tissue or a clean cotton cloth. Do not compress the ears, muzzle, or shoes. Store the orange beanie separately so it keeps its rounded shape and does not flatten the daisy flower on the head.

If the doll is made for a child, replace safety eyes and the safety nose with embroidered features. Small accessories, long straps, and sewn-on flowers can be choking hazards, so always adjust the finishing method for the intended age and use.
